Hi ladies

I have a short LP, about 9-10 days. Anyone else in the same boat? Have you managed to get pregnant with a short LP? Any advice would be very welcome!

@DesertSnow just seeing you’ve booked a scan! 8 weeks will be a great time to get it and as we’ve said before on here it seems to be when the risks drop drastically so you could be quite reassured from that 😊 I’ve already looked at scan dates for this cycle.. the things boredom does to you 😂 but because it’s Christmas the scan place near me is only open 28th December then it’s closed until the second week in January. It’s definitely way more worth your while if you’re further on though! I think last time I was 6 and a half weeks and it was touch and go whether we’d see a heartbeat but just very lucky we did!

DesertSnow · 02/12/2022 17:01

@BCxx oh man I hear you about trying to kill the time! Hope you're finding ways to distract yourself. Honestly, I thought TTC time went so slowly but now it seems to have slowed down even more! Yes, 8 weeks seemed like a good time to get a scan, if we make it that far. Especially as we'd be telling family that week so if we've just had a scan hopefully I'll feel more reassured. Of course if there's something wrong then that week will just be dreadful, but sometimes you have to take a leap of faith!

I'm much the same, 6 weeks tomorrow. No real symptoms other than tiredness and sore boobs. Going to a friend's birthday tomorrow and she's said the order of the day is copious amounts of mulled wine, so I need to think of a plan. I reckon I might just go with having a headache, as with how tired I get in the afternoons I'm not sure I'll last too long so being unwell covers me if I need to leave early.

Hope everyone's doing ok. Wishing you all BFPs, but if not then lovely lengethened LPs.

LS888 · 02/12/2022 18:38

@DesertSnow are you going by last period for your 8 week scan date or ovulation date?

Just interested as I’m similar times to you. I think my ovulation date was 13th November. Last cycle started on 23rd October. Sorry you might have already said.

BCxx · 02/12/2022 20:01

@DesertSnow yip I totally know what you mean from last time. It’s like when you get that BFP you open a little door and go through into this whole other world where you already thought time was going slow and everyone must know but now times going even slower and you feel like it’s written all over your face that you’re pregnant 🤣🤣 thats a tricky one when it’s her house! You could always turn up with a bottle that you’ve decanted from another bottle (if you get non-alcoholic stuff) or say you’re having to pick someone up that night from a Christmas night out or run someone somewhere early the next morning 🙈 I feel like as long as you have some sort of long enough plausible story people would rule out you being pregnant. It’s when someone just announces ‘I’m not drinking, I’m on antibiotics’ that it screams pregnant! 🤣 I think I have a week today or tomorrow to wait until

BCxx · 02/12/2022 20:02

@LS888 the scanning places do the same as the NHS I think so it’s LMP. When I went in last time it said LMP: and I had to ask the woman what that stood for 😂 clearly hadn’t been on mumsnet enough at that point

LS888 · 02/12/2022 21:06

Thanks @BCxx my 12 weeks based on LMP will be mid January so think I might just wait until then all being well. But think we might end up telling a few people over Christmas.

BCxx · 02/12/2022 21:34

@LS888 that’s some serious willpower so well done if you do! I got an early one last time but still felt like my heart was in my mouth going to the 12 week scan as I had no idea what had been going on in there for the last 5 weeks 🙈

BCxx · 02/12/2022 21:36

Any last minute tips for anything to do/take in the tww to help implantation? I’m 3dpo but feel like I’m reaching the desperate stage this month 😩 going to get some pomegranate juice, can’t even remember the food/drink I tried last time because someone said it helped them 😂

LS888 · 02/12/2022 21:37

@BCxx I just feel like it will be too early before Christmas (will be 6 weeks based on ovulation on Christmas day) and due to my mmc last time I haven’t had great experiences with scans. If I have one early and it’s inconclusive I know it will be harder to enjoy Christmas. So think waiting might be the best option for me. Or an earlier one the first week of Jan.

DesertSnow · 02/12/2022 23:20

@LS888 I've just gone with LMP when giving dates - but also being conscious of the fact that I could measure a few days behind as I ovulated CD18 rather than CD14 which is what they base the calculations on I think. But it's not a huge difference. Yes, tricky in your situation - for me I think 8 weeks is ok to be conclusive, but yours is more borderline and might mean you don't enjoy Christmas if it's inconclusive (obviously if my scan shows something wrong I won't either, but I feel I have to take that gamble). Could you maybe have a scan between Christmas and New Year and then tell people then if you wanted to share around the holiday time? Although January is such a gloomy time, it would be a lovely bit of news to share then too.

@BCxx I've heard eating brazil nuts might help with implantation, though I've never tried that. In my successfull cycle I had sesame seeds and sunflower seeds in the tww - no idea if that did anything or if it was just me trying to feel in control! You're so right about how it feels in this early stage! The drinks are at a pub so at least I can have a bit of control. I don't drive so unfortunately that excuse is out. You're right about about the antibiotics, definitely suspicious! To be fair it starts at 2.30 and I'm not a big drinker so I could just say it's a bit early for me. I think the key will be deflection!

BCxx · 02/12/2022 23:37

@LS888 yes I think the limbo of is it/isn’t it would be awful if you saw the baby but no heartbeat yet or something. I went for a scan at almost 7 weeks last time and saw a heartbeat but that was 4 days before Christmas and I have no clue what I was planning to do if it didn’t! The places near me are closed from 27th dec to 8th jan (not that I’ve already checked🤣) so if this is my month I’m going to have to hang off til after that

BCxx · 02/12/2022 23:42

@DesertSnow haha totally! I’m not even pregnant yet but I’ve noticed I’m taking every opportunity to throw in something to put people off. I mentioned to a friend that we’d booked a taxi home from a family meal out in 2 weeks time for my dad’s birthday. Obviously my parents have booked it assuming everyone will be drinking but I was talking to a friend who I’m pretty sure will be expecting an announcement from me any day so I thought I’d just casually drop that in to confuse her 🤣 For new year we’re having friends over to ours but I thought that’s fine because I can just do the refill a bottle trick. Finished the last of a bottle of wine tonight (hopefully my last) and put the empty bottle in the cupboard for when I need it 😂😂

I need to get on the Brazil nuts, I’m sure it was them that people used to always say about last time

Mugascauld · 03/12/2022 09:24

@BCxx im 3DPO today so I’m a day behind you! No tips from me really. I’m still just on the B6 and trying to up my vitamin C but I’m not on a supplement for that - trying to just eat a billion oranges a day. Promised myself no symptom spotting or early testing this cycle but I’m already finding myself veering towards the door every time I pass my local pharmacy 😂

BCxx · 03/12/2022 20:11

@Mugascauld I’m doing the same with the vitamins! Was taking a magnesium one too but it has folate in it I noticed and I thought that might be overkill when I’m already taking folic acid. I came off my pregnacare ones to see if that was messing up my cycle and so far it seems to have worked although I’ve taken maca root as well and that’s meant to help. I’ve got a huge stash of pregnancy tests in a drawer because I ordered them on Amazon last month when I thought it was the month then AF arrived before they did 😂😭 I figured I’d need loads for when it is eventually positive though since il want to do one every day to check!

When I was pregnant with my son I had really quite obvious pinching feelings in my womb and I can totally feel a similar sensation today. I’m only 4dpo though and I’m sure it started from 5dpo last time, even though it says online you won’t get pain like that until later. I’m clinging onto every little shred of hope at this point though 😭

Carlotta27 · 03/12/2022 20:33

Hey @BCxx and others trying different supplements - wondering how you’re getting on? I’ve heard good things about Maca ! I bought some Agnus castus (Vitex) capsules a while ago but was unsure whether to take them as they have such mixed reviews with some women claiming they messed up cycles and other claiming a lengthens LP

for now I’m on pregnacare plus extra Bvits for the LP - no different after about four months but they can’t be doing any harm!

BCxx · 03/12/2022 23:26

@Carlotta27 hi 😊 I also got agnus castus and had originally planned to take the maca root up to ovulation then stop that and take the agnus castus in my LP. After hours of research that sounded like the best bet but in the end up I haven’t taken the agnus castus yet for fear of it making the situation worse 😂 I would 100% say the maca root is helping bring my ovulation forward though, it was cd15/16 this month, 16 last month and 20 the one before. I worked out that seemed to be my main issue because if I could get that earlier I’d have closer to 2 weeks at the other side.

ive really cut back on everything else but could probably go back on my pregnancare now my cycles are sorted out almost. I have the pregnacare one for pregnancy sitting (for months 🙄) so I would take it as soon as I eventually get a BFP! What cycle are you at so far?

Sierra26 · 04/12/2022 09:28

Morning all… not sure what’s going on over here.

I’m CD23 out of 28/29 day cycle. Don’t know how many DPO as failed to catch my peak on honeymoon. DTD on CD7,8,13,16,23 (we weren’t timing it as I was waiting for positive OPK which never came).

Usually get tender boobs from CD25, with spotting from CD26/27 leading to AF (I’m on this thread as worried that 3-4 days of spotting could mean LFD / low progesterone).

This cycle, tender boobs started 5 days early at CD20. Yesterday morning (CD22) we DTD and I noticed a speck of blood when wiping after. Could of course be related to DTD, but it got me wondering. Later I had a small speck of brown blood in a pad, then pink tinged CM. This morning more of the same.

Obviously I’m obsessing about what it means. Implantation bleed? Or my end of cycle spotting starting VERY early - this would mean my LP has got even shorter and would be super disappointing, especially as I’ve been loading up on the supplements this month.

AF not due til next Sat, and I had expected to start looking out for end of cycle spotting from tues or wed. So this is 4 days early.

I wasn’t expecting a BFP this month but was hoping to have some success in delaying the spotting with the supplements. Definitely wasn’t expecting an even shorter cycle!!

Will keep you posted…

Carlotta27 · 04/12/2022 17:35

Hey @BCxx that’s really good to hear the Maca has had a beneficial impact, it does sound more natural and less prone to unwanted side effects than the likes of Agnus castus, so may give it a try too!

I’ve been tracking for about 5 cycles and only trying for 3, but since my LP has been so short (5/6 days) and I’ve always had ve short cycles (even before birth control) I’ve booked to see a specialist in January. Not sure I should be adding in Agnus castus or anything that may be disruptive before that appointment.

great that it looks like you’ve been pregnant before, as your body must be able to, and perhaps like you said just needs some time to restet. I get the want to try supplements etc as it’s so frustrating thinking it’s out of our control so it’s easy to look for anything to do that may be helpful ! X

DesertSnow · 04/12/2022 17:46

@BCxx ha sneaky! Yesterday was ok, I said I had a headache and said I was trying to drink a bit less over the holiday period as there are so many events, and my friend didn't press me. I did leave after a couple of hours as I was just so exhausted.

@Sierra26 fingers crossed for you that it's implantation bleeding. Keep us posted.

EmmRach · 04/12/2022 18:03

Hi everyone. Just checking in. Sorry I've been MIA. Busy times at the moment with work and socialising. All good stuff, but keeps me distracted from reading all your messages!

Hope those still waiting for a BFP that this is your cycle!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Those already with a BFP - hope you're not feeling too grotty.

I'm doing pretty well. More tired than I think I've ever been in my life. But no major sickness so I'm taking it as a win! Got my midwife appointment on Tues and hope I'll get given my scan date then

BCxx · 04/12/2022 20:52

@Carlotta27 yes probably best hanging off as that won’t be far away and they might say stop taking that and come back in 3 months or whatever so easier just not to start it! The agnus castus definitely had some bad reviews but was also mentioned in a few YouTube videos too saying how great it was so it’s hard to tell 🙈 I’m testing on Thursday/Friday so not too much longer to wait now 🤞🏼

Carlotta27 · 04/12/2022 20:54

@BCxx oh good luck for Thursday / Friday and I hope the week doenst drag!

yes I think I’ll hold off for now, definitely best to trust a Dr even if it means more of a wait

BCxx · 04/12/2022 20:54

@EmmRach glad to hear you’ve avoided the sickness so far! 😅 How many weeks are you now? I was only sick weeks 8-11 last time and it was once per day maximum which still feels awful at the time but that’s nothing compared to lots of people! Fingers crossed we’ll all be joining you soon 🤞🏼

BCxx · 04/12/2022 21:11

I’ve had the pinching feeling today and now have general cramps. Also noticed my digestive system has majorly slowed down (no more pleasant way of putting it)!🙈 It’s 5dpo today and I remember with my son I felt definite cramps at 5dpo even though most websites say it’s later than that, had the same digestive issues as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I don’t want to get ahead of myself but I’m feeling the most hopeful I have been this month 🤞🏼

EmmRach · 04/12/2022 21:49

@BCxx that all sounds very promising... huge 🤞🏻 for you!!! Obvs let us know!! When will you test. Few more days yet at least??
So by my scan I'm 7+4. By the NHS due date calculator thingy I'm 8+5 - so maybe the sickness is still to come!!!! Eeeek 🙈
