Thanks mibbes that's comforting to know I've always had long cycles and managed to conceive my DS so I'm always hopeful

Hi ei yeah, not too bad. I thought I got a stronger darker line on my OPK today but I think it was just a different brand. It's still not as dark as the control line so still no OV. Still, It's only CD27 so who knows.
I'm hoping they'll be able to see my egg waiting at my scan on the 4th. Or if it's already gone. I'll be CD41 by then so maybe i will have Ov'd by then.

mibbes · 20/01/2008 17:11

Fairy further to your query the other day about short luteal phase and what you could do about it here is some info you may be interested in... I was having a look as I had read that spotting for several days can be a sign that corpus luteum is breaking down too early and causing a luteal phase defect - I have been spotting since 10dpo and have had up to 6 days of spotting in the past

hattyyellow · 21/01/2008 09:38

Abbey you poor thing (psst tis me the poster previously known as cbcb)...

Have you seen the docs yet?

Mibbes and twinkling how sweet of you to ask after my AF...sadly, AF turned up for me on Saturday so back to...ooh, CD3 already!

Ordered my Clearblue digital ovulation tests last night so feeling slightly more cheerful about things...if they don't work this month I'll be onto the cheapy ones, I'm just so crap at reading the results of things like that I thought digital would be better!

Bucky love the chant! Thank you...

I read a great article in the Times on Saturday about contentment and happiness..will see if I can link it on this "blue Monday" (today statistically the most depressing of the whole year apparently!)

Morning all,

Thanks mrsEi25, Pistacho, and hattyellow for your kind words and good wishes for my Feb scan

mibbes I bought cheap OPKs from ebay and they seem OK although not used them yet! Other TTCers said they were good though.

Hattyyellow Sorry AF has arrived. It does feel miserable today, it doesn't seem to have got light yet.

pistacho hope your DC is feeing much better now.

abby I wondered where you'd got to, nice to see you back. Sorry AF arrived. I agree with what the others said about going to see your GP about the clots.

(waves frantically to bucky, GG, Glasto and everyone else)

I'm struggling to get a hang of charting! I've mucked it up by taking my temps at different times - I thought I'd ov a few days ago but it looks like my temp was just higher because I took it two hours later! FF thinks I ov yesterday now but needs temps to keep climbing.

twinklingfairy · 21/01/2008 10:28

There you are hatty yellow
that TEW got you, had hoped it woudl not be, but we all dream don't we.
I hope you don't mind but I have updated you on the list and have changed your name over too?
Do you all think it is ok that I only have 4 day AF visits? And one of those days is spotting.
Thanks for that link mibbes think I will go out today and get me some Vit B6. A Vitamin can't do any harm can it? Do you think I should speak to a doc before taking them?

MrsEi25 · 21/01/2008 11:42

morning ladies
i do agree that today is the most miserable day up to now this year!!constant rain but it is cosy sittin at home with the heating on
sorry TEW got you twinkling and as far as i know 3-4 days is about right for AF i had 3 days every 28 before DD and the doc told me that was spot on now theyre up the wall but there we go.
my sister told me that lily of the valley aromatherapy oil is now being used in IVF and fertility clinics as it aparrantly helps with egg maturity and sperm motility she read it online on friday after i told her we were TTC has anyone else heard this?? are we all goin to stockpile the stuff now i no i will be

Hi ladies,

Hatty sorry AF got you...

I was asked to keep my pre-conception scan appointment today. Originally booked to check my womb, tubes and ovaries, I guess for endo or cysts or fibroids. The good news is that ovaries and tubes are all fine, and we saw a wee little gestational sac. Far too early to see anything inside it, just have to hope that it develops ok. Exciting, but still a long way to go before we can be sure.

Still not really got any symptoms. Boobs only get sore at night, same goes for belly-twinges.

So today's the most depressing day of the year? Does that mean, we can only get happier from now on?

Good luck to all you TTC'ers! Wish me lots of sticky dust!

DG x

GryffinGirl · 21/01/2008 12:02

hello fruitloop - love the name and I recognise you from the TTC thread. We don't only symptom spot here, like MrsEi says, we are a freindly bunch . 88 Day cycles are loong - have you ever had them investigated (sorry if you have posted this before).

Jollybear hope you had a lovely weekend. Good luck with the charting.

Oh Hattyyellow - that Times article is soo true . Good luck with the Clearblue Digital OPK's. I have been using the old analogue (?) blue line-y sort and they seem to work pretty well for me, but I'd be interested to know what difference the digital makes in interpreting the results, because often I am not sure of the best day until after it has passed IYKWIM , but have built up a decent average of my cycles using them. Sorry that AF got you this month

Hi to mibbes and the others.

I am CD18 today, so on the 2WW but nothing to report yet. I have quietly given up hope of a BFP this month despite doing lots of BD-ing - it hasn't worked for the other 13 months so why should it now . I am not depressed, just sort of indifferent to it all. DH is going on Friday to get his swimmers tested. I'll wait for the results and then go back to my GP. I don't know why, but I don't want to go back there until i know something concrete one way or the other (i.e. "DH is fine, so clearly the problem TTC rests with me. i want you to do something about it and not fob me off" OR "DH has issues. I want to find out if I do too so we can get the next step under way. Please can we do something")

MrsEi25 · 21/01/2008 12:08

DGandbean what a lovely outcome for your scan so nice to see the LO for the first time even if he/she is still so teenyweeny
GG i was the same when TTC DD i didnt want to go and speak to the doc without concrete evidence either way... and then i got a BFP so hopefully you will too and you will be able to forget about the tests

Good afternoon everyone

Ok MrsEI where do i put the oil?? Do we sniff it, massage it in,.. or worse?!

Hattyyellow sorry to hear about AF. I buy the digital OPKs a like a definite answer. They are Sooo expensive though.

DG&digibean so pleased that it all went well today, and how exciting to have seen a "gestational sac"!!! Does it make it all seem a bit more real now?

Hi to fruitloop nice to see you here as well.

Abby hope yu are ok and that you got yourself to the doctor.

Pistachio hope your DD is back on top form again.

Jollybear good luck with the temping / charting. I was going to temp this cycle, but i didn't get around to it.

GG Sorry to hear you sounding sad. I really hope that things start happening now, and that your GP does not fob you off again. There is so much that can be done medically to aid conception - sometimes the body just needs some minor tweaking!!! Good for your DH getting tested - it can't be easy for them, can it, having to "perform" like that!

I hope everyone else is doing ok today. ( I would wave to everyone, but then i'd drop all the oil...)

I'm boooored now, and on the 2ww. No sticks to pee on or anything. I am determined that i will not test until i am late, this time. Please help me stick to it!!

MrsEi25 · 21/01/2008 13:57

as far as i know MOB the clinical trials showed that in the presence of aromatherapy LOTV sperm motility was seen to be increased and fertilisation of matured eggs was increased aswell i am goin to google it in a sec so i will do a link or somethin...

Hullo everyone - mind if I join in? I'm 4DPO now so officially in the 2WW.

I'd like to ask a question but I'm afraid that it might seem a bit daft, so please forgive me!

I know it will probably vary widely for everyone but generally speaking, at what point should early pregnancy symptoms kick in - at fertilisation or implantation? I'm thinking implantation, which means that I've got a good few days to go before I have an excuse to obsess! However, reading about some of the experiences others have had here on MN, it seems as though it's possible to have symptoms earlier, which is making me wonder about hormones etc following fertilisation.

I don't have any blindingly obvious symptoms at the moment but my boobs do feel a little heavier than usual and seem a little achey, IYKWIM.

MrsEi25 · 21/01/2008 14:09

i found this:

"How does putting perfumed sachets in your drawers help conception?

It drives sperm wild.

Human sperm are attracted by the smell of Lily of the Valley. It appears sperm have 'noses' which they use to navigate towards a woman's egg. Researchers experimented with a range of floral fragrances and Lily of the Valley came top, getting the random sperm wiggling in the same direction at twice the normal speed.

The research was carried out at Ruhr University in Germany in 2003. They discovered a new sperm protein, hOR17-4, which acted as an olfactory receptor for sperm in exactly the same way as protein sensors in the nose detect smells. They then tested their new sperm 'nose' on hundreds of synthetic compounds, many of them used to mimic floral scents in commercial perfumes. One of these, bourgeonal, is used to create the Lily of the Valley fragrance. It had two dramatic effects on the behavior of sperm: doubling its speed and changing undirected swimming behaviour to direct movement. The 'foot to the floor' effect seems to derive from hOR17-4 making them wag their 'tails' harder."

im just waitin for my sister to ring me back with the website or whatever she got her info from so i can do a proper link. up to now they all say similar to that one. i think i will be investing in some LOTV just to cover all the bases

Lily of the Valley? - I hope that Avon lady calls again soon .

JollyBear · 21/01/2008 14:20

Wouldn't lily of the valley perfumed knickers send the sperm the wrong way?!

MrsEi25 · 21/01/2008 14:21

hi furitivelyposting welcome to the lovely 2wwaitingroom no question is silly on here so ask away i think it is possible to have symptoms from fertilisation i didnt myself when pg with DD i didnt even realise i might have been preg (even tho we were trying for ages) until i was a few days late i think it depends on the individual and their cycle etc its just a shame that you cant buy a test that will give you a BFP from 1DPO we would all be skint i think if there was though

Sorry, welcome furitivelyposting

Some people do get symptoms from implantation but lots of lovely ladies on this thread have had BFP with no symptoms at all!!

FurtivelyPosting · 21/01/2008 14:28

Thanks, MreE125 and Jollybear - that's really useful to know. I'm trying really hard not to become obsessive (I've got another 10 days of this to go, for flip's sake!) and ultimately, all we can do is wait it out until we can test. And then keep testing....and testing...and testing...

MrsEi25 · 21/01/2008 14:32

you are in good company here then FP we, on this thread are singlehandedly funding the CBD production market i think i wasted about £30 this month on needless testing...and im still tempted even tho im pretty sure iv still got a couple of days til my official 2ww and then it would be another 10 days or so til i can even think about testing TTC makes us crazy

pmsl at the lily of the valley! That's cheered me up no end!

Apologies to anyone who uses it on a regular basis but it makes me think of old ladies - do our DP's get secretly randy everytime they pass an old people's home? I'll be quizzing mine when he gets home

But it's worth a try if the smell really works! MOB can I buy one of your crates of the stuff?!

Waving hello to fruitloop and furtivelyposting Jollybear I think I'd also struggle with temps and charting..I'm up at such different times in the morning and the night depending on my work and whether my DD's wake up...are you using OPK's as well?

DG so glad the scan went well Will you still get a 12 week scan as well?

x

JollyBear · 21/01/2008 15:45

GG Don't be too despondent just yet. You might not need to have any tests because you get your BFP this cycle

MOB We'll try to stop you weeing on sticks!! It is really hard though isn't it?!

hattyyellow You might not get on with charting if you are up in the night. I didn't realise getting up at different times made such a difference. I haven't used OPKs so far but have got some for next time.

DG So pleased your scan went well!
