Absolutely no way I'm pregnant, but...

DH had the snip about 9 years ago.

I am 36.

Very regular periods.

I am 10 days late.

5 days ago I thought I was starting because I had brown discharge. That carried on a couple of days and has now stopped.

I've had soft cramps for about a week but nothing starts.

I know it's completely ridiculous of me to think pregnancy but it's very much like my pregnancies!

I also usually have sore boobs before my period but not got that.

I feel ridiculous spending money on a test when my husband is sterile of 9 yrs.

Sorry pressed post too soon.

Has anyone experienced similar and had their period start.

The main reason I'm posting is in hope that if I talk about it AF will show up 😂

Just go get a cheapie test and then you can put it out if your mind !

ApolloandDaphne · 29/06/2022 08:04

The only way to be sure is to take a test. I did this more than once after my DH had a vasectomy and it was negative each time but it was worth it for the peace of mind.

AdamRyan · 29/06/2022 08:05

Could be a hormone imbalance - have you had covid recently?
I would also do a test just to rule out the vasectomy failing - it can happen apparently (very rare)

ChaiTea20 · 29/06/2022 08:05

Usually if I take a test I come on later that day ha

rattlemehearties · 29/06/2022 08:06

Well obviously you need to test! And vasectomies are not 100% guaranteed. If the test is negative, might be worth GP visit to check your overall health is well.

SmileyPiuPiu · 29/06/2022 08:06

I'd also just get a test. Just so you know for sure. If you're anything like I was your period will start once you've bought it but before you get a chance to pee on it.

TenRedThings · 29/06/2022 08:07

I had early onset menopause, started like that !

Tinkhasflown · 29/06/2022 08:08

Eh my friend got pregnant 6 years after her DH vasectomy. He had to get it redone. I can just imagine the initial conversation in their house though.

Cocowatermelon · 29/06/2022 08:09

Buy a cheap test. It’s worth a quid for the peace of mind it will bring you!

knackeredagain · 29/06/2022 08:10

The only way to make your period show up is to buy a test. Guarantee you’ll come on on the bus home 👍🏻

ShirleyPhallus · 29/06/2022 08:11

Apparently as you hit your mid / late 30s you can start to get slightly irregular periods seemingly for no reason, it’s your body prepping for menopause

Dont worry until you take a test

ecnatsid · 29/06/2022 08:13

I'd get a test just to be sure, but I also have had this happen and I got a longer, more normal period later on in the month.

NahNoWay · 29/06/2022 08:19

Ah that's very reassuring. Thanks.

I will get a test on school run.

Spontaneous reversal of vasectomy is possible OP, but is hard to find info about because the unhelpful medical term is 'spontaneous recanalisation'.

Quote from an American academic paper - Late recanalization became recognized after six such failures were reported in 1984 and presented with unexpected pregnancies some time after clearance after two consecutive azoospermic samples. The chance of this occurring has been estimated to be 1 in 2900 (0.03%)[1]. Although the risk is slight, it is not therefore negligible, and failure to have warned the patient of this possibility in any vasectomy performed after 1984 has proved difficult to defend in a court of law. It is wise to warn the patient that the decision to discontinue contraception should be his rather than the doctor’s[1]. Nowadays, there is no method to predict spontaneous recanalization after vasectomy; therefore, it is important to make clear that there is a small risk of pregnancy even when azoospermia has been demonstrated.

I'd be devastated honestly, the thought of another kid is very stressful.

But then ilI think of my babies when they were small and melt a little.

I have no idea what I would do.

@NahNoWay I’m in a similar situation, came off my pill and was using ovulation sticks and have messed up, and I haven’t a clue what I’m gonna do, I have two children already so the thought scares me but not sure 🤔

I guess you need to test and go from there :)

HappyCup · 29/06/2022 17:06

How did you get on @NahNoWay?

tryingtofindmyself · 29/06/2022 17:16

You need to say, loudly, to your DH - 'I might book a last minute spa day for tomorrow and wear white jeans to travel there'

Job's a good'un 👍🏻

Seriously though, hope all is well OP.

NahNoWay · 29/06/2022 19:17

This came up right at the end of 10 mins. I don't know if it's my imagination?

Surely at 10 days late it would be darker than that

Has to be evap? Shadow?

Absolutely no way I'm pregnant, but...

Looks like a line. Congrats OP

Ukholidaysaregreat · 29/06/2022 19:22

OP I would buy a more expensive test and check again in the morning. The first wee after you get up has more hormones I think. Good Luck.
