Absolutely no way I'm pregnant, but...

DH had the snip about 9 years ago.

I am 36.

Very regular periods.

I am 10 days late.

5 days ago I thought I was starting because I had brown discharge. That carried on a couple of days and has now stopped.

I've had soft cramps for about a week but nothing starts.

I know it's completely ridiculous of me to think pregnancy but it's very much like my pregnancies!

I also usually have sore boobs before my period but not got that.

I feel ridiculous spending money on a test when my husband is sterile of 9 yrs.

Oh lovely what a shock, I’ve been waiting to see if you had taken a test 🥺

that’s definitely a BFP, not sure why others are saying they can’t see it, should of gone to spec savers I reckon!! I can see it perfectly and it’s pink not grey.

maybe you could call the doctors?

YouTrip · 30/06/2022 09:40

The test looks positive to me.

i hope you’re ok OP.

rainandtrains · 30/06/2022 09:42

My opinion is that the line is an evap, your discharge was ovulation, and your cycles are out as a result of covid vaccines + your age.

Good luck either way.

NahNoWay · 30/06/2022 09:49

Period has started with a vengeance this morning 👍

Must have been evap or dodgy test

I had this the other month, even had the same line on a first response. Period arrived a few days later but have been all over the place since then.

TheKeatingFive · 30/06/2022 09:52

Phew 😉

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 30/06/2022 09:57

Ah, phew. Great news op.

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 30/06/2022 09:58

I guessed as much.
I used 2 frers and had faint lines and was convinced I was pregnant.
A week later period started.
Deffo not chemical as other tests such as clearblues showed nothing and clearblue is the only test I had a very strong positive on with my first.

AntiHop · 30/06/2022 10:02

I has a similar faint line last year op which was definitely not a positive. I thought false negatives almost never happened, but apparently not.

catcurl · 30/06/2022 10:03

Such a relief for you OP.

I would get DH's swimmers retested anyway, for any chance it was a chemical pregnancy (though evap or dodgy test obviously also explanations!)

AntiHop · 30/06/2022 10:03

*false positives I mean

MassiveSalad22 · 30/06/2022 10:05

Good news OP! Amazed so many people were so certain that was a positive 😵‍💫

The Conception board is always like that. Posters are always insisting that tests are positive when they're obviously not. No idea why.

fatlazycow · 30/06/2022 10:07

Good news OP you must be relieved

i would definitely have read that test as positive too! Not good to think of all the potential false hope some women must get with a false faint line like that. I wonder what causes it?

KneeQuestion · 30/06/2022 09:01

Amazed at people saying it’s not a line.

hope you’re ok OP.

It's a line, just not a positive one. I've seen very few posts saying they can't see a line. The amazing thing is that many women don't seem to understand that evap lines are incredibly common, and the op's circumstances mean it's incredibly unlikely for it to be positive, as has been proven.

knackeredagain · 29/06/2022 08:10

The only way to make your period show up is to buy a test. Guarantee you’ll come on on the bus home 👍🏻

As an infertile woman with PCOS and wildly irregular period this is so true and was the bane of my TTC lifetime.

I could hold of for WEEKS past when a 'regular' ladies period would come with zero signs of starting but like clockwork the SECOND the piss hit the pregnancy test the flood gates of the red sea would open. EVERY FUCKING TIME... like life and my body way just laughing at me.

I think in general on these boards there is huge misunderstanding around pregnancy tests. They're not designed so that if you wait an hour, take them to pieces, take a photograph of it, invert the colours, boost the contrast, and look with one eye shut, you can sort of see a line there.

They are designed to be straightforward tests that detect the presence of the pregnancy hormone at a level that would be expected in a woman who's due on her period, and indicate it in an obvious, clear, visual way.

Every positive pregnancy test I've ever had has been instant and unmistakable, except for one I took 3 days before my period (and the one I took 24 hours ater that WAS instant and unmistakable).

There is going to be some sort of line there in some way, because that's the part of the test that includes whatever it is that detects the hormone and dyes it pink/blue if the hormone is present.

There are all these women going around convinced they've had "chemical pregnancies" or "early miscarriages" when all they've had is a late/missed period and an evaporation line.

It's cruel to keep telling people this if they want to be pregnant (and also if they don't!)

OP, how do you feel about the news? A lot of people are saying what a relief etc, do you feel happy with the result?

Spohn · 30/06/2022 11:24

@Eeejjj If you read OPs posts you would see that her husband has had a vasectomy, so they do not want to have another kid, and the fact that OP was hoping for her period and the fact she said another kid would devastate her. HTH

Of course, but some people may still feel disappointed and/or sad. Just wanted to check.

Definitely not disappointed. Relieved and happy.

I wouldn't have been able to keep a baby, luckily no decision to be made.
