Absolutely no way I'm pregnant, but...

DH had the snip about 9 years ago.

I am 36.

Very regular periods.

I am 10 days late.

5 days ago I thought I was starting because I had brown discharge. That carried on a couple of days and has now stopped.

I've had soft cramps for about a week but nothing starts.

I know it's completely ridiculous of me to think pregnancy but it's very much like my pregnancies!

I also usually have sore boobs before my period but not got that.

I feel ridiculous spending money on a test when my husband is sterile of 9 yrs.

There is a line but I would expect for 10 days late it should be a lot darker and not take the full 10 minutes to come up. Option 1 - it’s an evap. Option 2 - you ovulated late and it’s early so that line will darken. Option 3 - you have lost the pregnancy (don’t know how you feel about that) but if your period doesn’t come you’ll probably need medical management. Take a test in a couple of days, the only way you need to do first morning urine is if it’s option 2 but even in a couple of days you won’t need morning urine if that’s the case. Try a different brand. Personally I hate FRER, I’ve had a dubious line on them before (which didn’t materialise when I wanted it too) but supermarket own brand ones tend to be good in my opinion or the cheap dip sticks.

Whatever00 · 29/06/2022 19:51

Did your DH take both test to check if he had sperm in his sample. Apparently, most me only do the first check and don't bother doing the second test after a year.

I saw your test. I wouldn't consider that a line. I had loads like that over the many years of IVF. I would get a clear blue.

Zippy1510 · 29/06/2022 19:53

That looks very positive to me

Bagpuss2022 · 29/06/2022 19:53

Pay the money for a “decent” digital I would expect it to be darker 10 days late and could be evaporation as you didn’t read it in the timeframe

Looks like a line. Congrats OP

Leaving aside the fact that a line at 10 days late wouldn't look like that, why would you say "congrats" to someone whose husband has been sterilised and who said she's anxiously waiting for her period?

NahNoWay · 29/06/2022 19:54

It's a first response not cheapy.

I couldn't be bothered going pound land so went to another local chemist. They didn't have any cheapies either.

I can't really see colour to it.

And my cramps feel worse tonight.

I really can't see it being positive.

I got darker lines the day my period was due with my others.

Unless it is a chem... Which would still be as worrying as would mean sperm is present still?

Can I save my morning wee and use a test in it a few hrs later?

He did only do the first test. But it's been 9 years.

With my other kids I got pregnant the first month of trying, every time. So we are both very fertile.

If the vasectomy failed from the outset I'm sure I would have gotten pregnant way before now.

I think it’s more likely to be a false positive which is common with those tests.

Good idea to retest tomorrow with first morning pee.

ShirleyPhallus · 29/06/2022 08:11

Apparently as you hit your mid / late 30s you can start to get slightly irregular periods seemingly for no reason, it’s your body prepping for menopause

Dont worry until you take a test

I really hope that’s not true, I’m 33 and they’ve only actually got properly regular in the last year or so.

girlmom21 · 29/06/2022 19:57

It's a definite line but it could be a false positive. If you're cramping too I would definitely test again. I hope you get the outcome you want x

Maireas · 29/06/2022 19:58

Yes, it's highly improbable. Unlike most people here I really couldn't see a line, so I don't think you're pregnant. I hope whatever is the problem sorts itself out.

Bluetrews25 · 29/06/2022 19:59

You WERE both very fertile. It does drop off, remember.
Hope you are ok, OP.

TolkiensFallow · 29/06/2022 20:00

what was the time frame on the test? Most aren’t 10 mins … if it was outside the time then that’s an evap or something…

iloveyankeecandle · 29/06/2022 20:01

I'm sure I can see colour in that line? I'd be going out to get a digital if it was me.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 29/06/2022 20:02

ChaiTea20 · 29/06/2022 08:05

Usually if I take a test I come on later that day ha

Yes, it's a conspiracy by Boots and others to make you buy a test. Seems to be working... 🤔

whatamidoingwrong1 · 29/06/2022 20:03

Definitely a line there op

anotherscroller · 29/06/2022 20:03

I have the opposite, my
periods are getting more and more regular year on year (I’m 33)
what’s your source?

DottyLittleRainbow · 29/06/2022 20:03

Looks like a line to me. I’d retest in a couple of days as hcg is supposed to double every 2 days so should be darker by then if a true positive. Hope you’re ok OP.

SurpriseSurprise · 29/06/2022 20:04

I can see a line too. Have you told your DH your fears?

Its possible that it’s only recently reversed. I’ve read articles of men who suddenly tears down the line found themselves producing sperm again

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 29/06/2022 20:07

I can see the line as well I’m afraid.

Polpetto · 29/06/2022 20:08

That’s similar to the lines I got at 10dpo on a first response, before my period was due. So I’d say either you ovulated later than you thought or it’s a chemical pregnancy. The only way to check (other than blood tests) is to do another test(s) to see what the progression looks like. If you can bear it, waiting 48 hours between tests at this stage should give you more conclusive answers.

dontdillydallytoolong · 29/06/2022 20:09

Sorry, but I can see a line x

ChickinMarango · 29/06/2022 20:12

What I’ve heard with these is as they’re 6.25 miu sensitivity you can get a faint whisper of a line sometimes. Women have between 1-5 hcg day to day. Hoping it’s the outcome you want op.

ohdear91 · 29/06/2022 20:14

I can see a line 😃

Av0bo55 · 29/06/2022 20:15

I can see a line! Let us know how you get on! Must be confusing but I have heard of vasectomy failing after years? But it’s unlikely it’s more likely an evaporation line of something
