TAKING CLOMID FOR THE FIRST TIME AND REALLY EXCITED AND SCARED!!!!

HELLO EVERYONE !!!!
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONCIEVE FOR NEARLY A YEAR AND WITH NO LUCK AND AN UNDERACTIVE THYROID THE DOCTOR HAS PRESCRIBED ME WITH CLOMID!!!
I TOOK MY PERIOD ON 23RD DEC AND TOOK IT DAY 1 _ 5 I AM DUE TO GET MY BLOODS TAKEN ON 11TH THEN 23RD IS BIG TEST DAY!!!
I HAVE READ SO MANY SUCCESS STORIES BUT I CANT HELP FEELING NEGITIVE AS I DONT WANT TO GET LET DOWN !!!

HAS ANYONE GOT ANY SUPPORT OR ADVICE OR FEELING THE SAME??

hi everyone, i took my 1st round of clomid last month but it hasn't worked - got af this morning. does anyone else feel like they're doing something wrong??!! I think i've read so much stuff about conception and clomid and ovulating that i've got myself confused. so much information!! I never knew if i ovulated before (i'm assuming i do as i'm fairly regular give or take a day or two), but last month OMG the pain!! Two days of it - is this normal??

I really thought it would work this month and I'll admit I did have a cry about it yesterday during a bout of PMT. We've been trying for 2 years. It seems like it's never gonna happen. Sorry if i sound depressed!! feel better for typing it all out tho x

i too had a failed cycle one i was due to test yesterday and af came last week. The pain ohmigosh i cried as i found that i had alot of clotting???? i saw my gp yesterday and i told her that i had alot of pain and i had alot of clotting. She explain to me that with clomid your estrogen level rises. I was in pain for 2 days too.
i have just finished taking cycle too and getting ready to get to work!!!
I spoke to my fertilty nurse to find out when to test and stuff as i won't be getting scan often as i was b4.
She also told me that i have to lose weight which i am taking meformin to help me. She aslo told me that a patient tried clomid and it didn't work for her she lost 2 stone and got concieved naturally???
I am forever being told lose weight it will help? i was going to the gym 3x a week was smoking lost weight and nothing??
I am getting worked up now because i just don't know what to do?
I just had a rant there feel better now...
just relax and focus not so much on ttc.. the more you think about it your body does the opp. I was signed of work for 6weeks and i m going back monday so it will be better as i won't be so tense and think about what is happening...
It is obvious clomid is working so it's only a matter of time b4 we have our joy....

i think your nurse is a little bit stupid telling you you have to lose 2 stone before it will work ...
what is your weight now if you dont mind me asking ? ahat do they want you to be ?

if it doesnt work on peoe overweight then why are we getting all the symptoms for it working it doesnt make sense they make me really angry when they say things like that

hi cam75, i think they use weight as an excuse. it's just something for them to blame as they can't explain otherwise.

i'm feeling a little more positive this evening than i did this morning. and at least i can start round 2 of clomid tomorrow. i'm not being monitored at all at the moment so i don't even know if i ovulate although if i had 2 days of pain in the middle of the cycle, would that be it? i feel like i know so little about my body!

i really hope it works. i don't fancy having the dose raised to 100mg, i think that would really hurt!!!

when i got the last time i got on the scales at the dr's it said 15/ 1/2 stone don't ask me how but it did. The weight is really in my thighs and my arse? some say that i am big boned whatever.

I am now 14 1/2 so that is good the metformin is working, can't make t work any faster. I am back to work next week?? not looking forward to that but at least i will be busy and won't b thinking abou what is happening.
i went to the chinese herblist and got some tablets one to relax me so when i have sex i relax and not tense up and the other is to help fertilze me if that makes sense. With the chinese herbal stuff it is all natural so the way they see things is different to how we would. The tablet basically get blood flow and get it ready for pregnancy. I am going to try acupunture also. The thing with gp is that they are not willing to try alternative meds.

i am sure you must have ovulated???(hmm)
when taking clomid there are always some aches and stuff and it is a good sign things are working. When i first started the tablets i was at the hospital 3 times in one week getting scanned and stuff.
I believe that it was just to see if that was the right dosage so all i need to do is just call the nurse really. I am left to it until i become pregnant.

i am ok thanks been getting really bad pains after we have intercourse it feels like i can actually feel my ovaries working over time

is that normal did you feel like that ?

i think that is rubbish about weight i went on toa other website and here were women who weighed 330 pounds and they concieved on clomid time so you never no do you .............

i am fine just enjoying my last few days b4 i return to work....
i havent had any pain as such although when doing a different postion i do feel like my ovary is knocking on my tummy :O

HI. im not really sure who else to turn to. I am feeling incredibly nervious. My dr put my on 50mg of clomid that i am supposed to take on datys 5-9 of my cycle. I dont really know much about support groups but i was told that there are alot of poeople that could be going through the same as me (or similar). Well here it is. I was told 3 years ago that i had pcos and for the past 3 and 1/2 years i have been trying to get pregnant. Nothing but failures. My period my whole life has always been regular and on time. On top of that in the past three months i was told i had ulcerative colitis. Again not really sure if that has anything to do with my fertility problems, my dr told me that iflammation could have something to do with it.
Now that i hear so many success stories on here for women that used clomid. I have extreem hope that this will work for me. Can anyone tell me or share with me there success stories with pcos and being able to become pregnant.

Interestingly different people seem to be given different advice about when to take Clomid. I've taken my first tablet today and I'm CD 2, and I keep taking it until CD 6. Does anyone know why it varies?

Weight does have a lot to do with fertility, hence why if you're TTC you should strive to be a healthy weight. Just think of all the other benefits as well!

We've only been trying for about 8 mths....but because my periods were so irregular my GP sent me for blood tests. Surprise surprise I wasn't ovulating. So it was my GP that has just prescribed me 2 cycles of clomid (which we're thrilled about!!) But I have to wait for my period to start which is very frustrating as they're about every 3 mths at the mo....so about 2 mths to go!! Anyway, got to take days 1-5.

My question is - does clomid always also mean you'll have a period around 28 days or so if you didn't get pregnant? What about if you didn't ovulate? Will it still initiate a period?

I'm just thinking that if the first cylce doesn't work, am I going to have to wait another 3 mths for my next period.....

started the clomid again last night, now waiting for the moodiness to take over. and soooo looking forward to the mega painful 2 days of ovulating!!!

Hi I'm new on here so hello. I am starting clomid next week after 3 miscarriages (between 7 and 9 wks) over the past 2 yrs and before that TTC for about 18 months. I have the tablets "to give me a nudge" as it was put!!
I am feeling very positive and quite excited and ready to try again for our first baby. Does anybody know if you can take painkillers alongside clomid, as I can't usually get through a period without Ibuprofen or similar? If not it's the hot water bottle for me!!

you can take painkillers with the clomid it won't do anything.
It's like cramping af cramping i just take the drugs don't do pain well....
What will i do in child birth???

Hey, I live in Southend, not far from you in the grand scheme of things. And guess what. I'm not being monitored either.

I've been given 3 cycles of Clomid but don't have to go back to the consultant for 6 months!!

I have about 6 days to go before af is due, this is going to be the longest week ever!!!

I'm on my 1st cycle so I don't hold out much hope. Although I do appear to have quite a few pregnancy symptoms, I'm wondering if it's just the case that the Clomid is messing up my hormones and I'm looking for it too much!!

Plus, I don't really have any fertility problems myself. I've been given it because my husband's sperm lacks motility (lazy buggers!!! I really don't see how this is supposed to work in our situation!!

what type syptoms you getting as i have been getting syptoms like pregnancy ones i have really sore and elevated nipples and feeling nauseus i wasnt sure weather this was normal with clomid then i saw you message so it must be

maybe they are just playing with our hormones how are u finding it without being monitored ?

Well where shall I start??

I have the sore nipples and my boobs have grown quite a bit. They hurt if I walk too fast. I also feel nauseus in the mornings and evenings, but during the day I can't stop eating. I get tired really easy, and I have to get up in the night to pee!! I just generally feel quite strange!!

The main problem with not being monitored is that you have no idea what your body's doing and also what the Clomid is doing?

I guess if I end up pregnant then I'll know it's worked!!!

When are you due to test?

i have to go for my cd21 blood test on monday see if i ov if i did then i think its 1-2 weeks after that i test if i havent ov they said they are putting my dosage up to 100mg am on 50 at moment this is my first month ihope it works

i also feel really strange but i am the opposit i cant eat and when i do i get full really quick and feel sick and feel really bloated i wish they could just give us all a tablet tht doesnt have any side effects that would be great

why have they put you on clomid if you are ok?

I do normally ovulate, I think. I get pains every month anyway!!

They reckon by putting me on Clomid I will release more eggs. The idea being that 1 of the lazy sperm stands more chance of getting to one of multiple eggs rather than only being able to aim for one!

Don't know if this has worked for anyone else in the past, but right now we'll give anything a go!!

I'm with you on a tablet that doesn't have side effects. I'm not one for taking tablets at the best of times anyway!!

Good luck with your test on Monday. Really hope it works so you don't have to up your dose!!

Sarah - I haven't heard of someone being on Clomid to help the sperm, but fingers crossed it works for you.

LauraLou _ I've just finnished my first dose of clomid (50mg), with no side effects as of yet. Fingers crossed I ovulate. If not, I'll be doubling my dose as well.

I am going back to work 2moro can't beleive it really. I suppose it will be good as i won't be worried on what is going on....

hi every one.im new to this site.ive polysistic ovaries en i have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years but no luck. i was put on clomid last month may.on day 11 en 12, i used the clear blue ovulation kit to check if i was ovulating and it showed dat i was.i was sooo excited, made love twice every day but i never got pregnant,insted on 17 june, i got my period and it was very eary,i normaly get my period every end of the month .how can i ovulate en then dnt get pregnant?? has any one been through the same situation as me???.Any way ive just finished my second round of clomid last friday,so fingers crosed.i hope i get pregnant bse i want it sooo bad.im going to se my gynacologist 2mrow,en im gona ask to check my tubes,hpe i dnt get any bad news. this site is gue,the stories're giving me hope.i wish u all gud luck

everything seems to be taking ages i want to go away in august just for a week with my mum to scotland but i am worried it might interfer with all the tests and the days we are supposed to ............lol

I am back from holiday. Had a lovely break on the pembrokeshire coast for 5 days and then had a week just being at home. Spent some quality time with DH and DS.

First day back at work and all is ok.

While on hols, DH and I decided to stop charting BBT and stop peeing on sticks. We are going to totally pull away from the madness. I will keep count of my cycle and we will do the duty from day 13 - 25 but then we won't fret.

I am continuing with my weight loss programme but in a less manic way.

I am just planning to 'chill' for a while.

Before going away, saw my GP threatened taking clomid myself - had bloodtest day 21 last week, so we will see if it says I am ovulating ( as the consultant said that a period every months means ovulation! yeah right my foot!!!) . After next months blood test, I will start the clomid if she doesn't refer on anywhere else.

How has everyone else been? Seen lots of clomid taking questions on the thread!

sarah I am very intrigued they gave you clomid when you don't have a problem. I have PCOS and have been battling for clomid for the last 5 months and have still not been given it.
