Hi girls,

May I join you??

Firstly, HUGE congratulations to everyone here who has successfully conceived , and I'm really sorry to those of you that have/are experiencing problems .

I am 30 years old. I have a 6 year old daughter from a previous relationship. My husband and I have been ttc for over 2 1/2 years now! I had my tubes unblocked (HSG) about 3 months ago, and have been told that I am fine now! My husband has a dodgy sperm count - the count itself is OK but they lack motility. We suspect it's caused by his "past"?? Say no more!! Anyway, the count has steadily improved over the last couple of years so we have more hope now.

I have been prescribed by my gynae 3 courses of Clomid at 50mg. I took my first course last week! I had horrendous headaches whilst taking them, along with hot flushes. I'm still getting the hot flushes now, plus ovulation has taken 2 days so far (I get sharp pains). Normally I only ovulate for 6-8 hours!

It's really nice to find people who are going through the same thing as us! I'd really like to keep in touch, and help support each other.

Thanks and good luck to all of you. xx

Hi ladies, I've been lurking here for a while so wondered if any of you have experienced a longer than usual clomid cycle? This is my third cycle on 50mg clomid and I am now on day 38 with no AF appearing and BFN tests. The first two cycles were 28 and 26 so I'm wondering just how long this cycle could go on Anyone else had this?

supersteph · 20/06/2008 13:17

Hi all, Dungungirl have a lovly holiday and hopefully it will do you some good. Relax and try to forget everything. Easyer said then done, I know. xx

ChoChoSan · 20/06/2008 16:09

Hello everyone!

Just a quick question amout whether anyone else has experienced any of the more serious side effects from Clomid?

I am on 50mg, and on my last tablet this cycle I had some issues with my eyesight a 'strobing' sort of effect late at night when I moved around. It did not last very long, but it has happened a couple of times since.

Also, the last couple of times I had sex - once before my period and this time afterwards, my cervix felt really tender, so it was quite painful. This has never happened to me before.

Does anyone else has experience of this, and have you een your GP?

I have an appointment with the consultant next Wednesday, so thought I would wait to discuss it. The leaflt says to see a GP without delay, but I don't know how that might help, as I have already taken all my tabs for this cycle. Also, I wonder if the manufacturers are trying to 'cover themselves' by being over cautious.

lauralou1 · 20/06/2008 18:14

hi cam75

went for my scan today it wasnt as bad as i thought i have one large folicle and the lining of my womb is thickening nicely the nurse said start having intercourse from monday but think going to carry on from now till then cant do any harm can it ..........

how are you ?

Sarah1109 · 21/06/2008 08:45

Hi ChoChoSan,

I had really bad headaches when I took my Clomid, and hot flushes! The headaches went as soon as I had finished this course, but I'm still getting the hot flushes!

Also, I have just ovulated, and that was REALLY painful. This also made sex really painful too!

I haven't had the funny eyesight, but I have heard stories about people who have, so I think it is a "plausible" side effect. Not nice though I should imagine.

I took my Clomid before I went to bed, in the hope that my side effects would happen overnight and I wouldn't know much about them! I think that did help but who knows??

I didn't go to my GP but I did phone the surgery, and also my consultant for advice on whether or not I could take painkillers, which you can by the way!

Hope your symptoms pass soon, and the Clomid works for you!

Take care. xx

ChoChoSan · 21/06/2008 14:47

Thanks Sarah. I will ask the consultant for reassurance next week!

piper84 · 21/06/2008 17:09

Hi Sarah and Chochosan

i'm also on clomid , this is my first month back on clomid, the symptoms are great arent they
hot flushs, headaches , painful ovulation and painful sex around ovulation time, 've had them all aswell so think they are the more common symptoms. i find if you take the tablets at night before bed, you will sleep through the worst of the symptoms.
Sarah unfortunatly thought that doesnt work with the hot flushes i'm on cd 28 now and stll getting them
oh and for painkillers, i think its ok to take painkillers for the ovulation pain, though if its really painful you should get checked out cause it could be an overstimulated ovary

Sarah1109 · 21/06/2008 22:13

Hi Piper,

Thanks for the advice. I will monitor how I go over the next couple of days, although it has subsided considerably since last night/this morning!! Hopefully it just means I've ovulated well this month!!

You don't have to say if you don't want to, but you say it's your first month back on Clomid, and I was wondering why you had a break and how long it was for? The reason I ask is that my consultant has given me 3 months worth but doesn't want to see me for 6 months! Is this normal? I'm not being checked in the meantime, ie no scans or blood tests??

Thanks xx

Thanks for your comments Piper and Sarah.

My symptoms seem to be getting worse - quite painful today, but I will see the consultant tomorrow. I will let you know what he says about it, for future reference!
