Hi Ladies,

Thank you for the warm welcome.
Right i have been to the doctor's today(in America) and it appears that my progesterone level is 77! she has upped my Clomid to 100mgs(from 50mgs) which i will start tomorrow.
She also said she will do another day 21 blood test if i want her to.
The frustrating thing is because i started all this in England(i'm English) and doing some here.
Can anyone give me any advice on my progesterone level being 77? Is that ok?
I ask because i don't know what my levels were when i had it done in England.Luckily i don't have to buy my Clomid here because it's soooo expensive, about 20yrs ago it was 20pounds for 1 50mg tablet!!!!!!!!!!!

cam75 · 23/05/2008 00:57

LornieLoo · 23/05/2008 13:15

HI there everyone,

Im totaly new today so be nice to me!

A few days ago i finished my 1st 5 day course of 100mg Clomid, which i have to say i purchased off the net!

I know its probably a stupid thing to do but me and my bf have been trying for a baby for 2 yrs now and my doctors wont help me! They turn me away every time and dont give me no help. Im 24 and apparently they wont help me with anything untill im 25 because otherwise il have to pay for everything, and also in feb last yr i was actually pregnant but lost it as i had an ectopic preg. This counts as being able to get preg so as of that time i had to start counting the yrs again! so according to them ive only been trying for just over a yr!! unbelievable!

Clomid off the net was my last resort as the erge to have a baby is so great now im getting really depressed.

Any advise would be greatfully recieved

xxxxx

primrose88 · 23/05/2008 19:35

Thankyou all for the congratulations.

Went to the doctors today im between 7-8weeks pregnant, I no this sounds crazy but i went and brought another clear blue digital test today just to make sure and yep it said PREGNANT ..

Nothing much happened really the nurse just discussed what will happen next and where i would like to have the baby hosptal wise.

She took my family medical history, and I have my first midwife appoinment June 10th nearly 2 weeks away so im glad its soon as i have loads of questions for her.

Good luck and baby dust to you all, and remember clomid takers, it is a magical drug so hang in there, i conceived without taking clomid as i refused to take it again this cycle, but the nurse said maybe it just gave me the boost i needed to conceive natrually, plus they say the lap and dye test helps which i had march 12, because your tubes get a nice wash out when they flush the dye through, either way Im greatful for my blessing and hope you all get yours soon

primrose88 · 23/05/2008 19:44

oh forgot to say was given an emmas diary

cam75 · 23/05/2008 23:39

hi lornieloo,

ohmigoodness you need to go to the dr. It is nothing to be worried but you need to get scanned and stuff. You cannot be buying drugs off line and take them without medical guidance.
Do you have problems ttc? if there is nothing wrong with you then you should of waited the dr's do help. I was devasted when i was told that i had to go on a waiting list for ivf and at that time i was in my early 20s
I am now on clomid as i have been trying for so long plus i have pcos which makes it harder.
Please go see a dr darling it's ok just go and get checked out.
We are all here if you need a hand or shoulder..... xxxx

primrose88 · 24/05/2008 18:39

Hi Lornieloo.

Im not sure about the age thing but my doctor (god bless him) referred me to see a gyno doctor, and perscribed me clomid as soon as i went to see him with trouble trying to conceive.

At that point we were only trying for 10months, which I thought was forever, but after seeing what you guys have been through on here I now appreciate the wait.

I cant say I blame you for buying clomid, as i understand how depressing it is wanting a baby, I even ended up on antidpressants because of it, which was a very low point in my life which I would never wish on anyone.

I will say though that it is a dangerous move and please be careful, as clomid may not be right for you, thats why it is important to see a doctor. Keep banging on that doctors door, and voice your concerns.

I found out thursday i am 7-8 weeks pregnant, and did it without clomid, so it can and will happen.

Was there any permenant tube damage when you had your eptopic pregancy? again thats another reason why you should seek medical advice before taking clomid.

I wish all your baby dreams come true for you good luck

primrose88 · 24/05/2008 18:46

i forgot to say i was given a blood test on day 21 of my cycle to check that i was ovulating, and also had a lap and dye test to check that my tubes were not blocked. All test came back positive .

And also majority of doctors percribe 50mg of clomd for the first cycle, you then have a blood test to see if it has worked if not then it is increased to 100mg, becareful because clomid is good when its good, but can be very horrid when its bad. You dont want to overstimulate your ovaries.Have you read the information leaflet that comes with it?

hi gillydaffodil

Yes clomid shotened my period i bled for about 3 days usally 5-6days, so dont panic its normal

viksam · 26/05/2008 10:40

Hi Gilly,
I think we have met in the hut, I have had shortend bleed to. I have taken 3 courses of clomid now and the second cycle i bleed for only about three days and really light too, but this cycle is back to normal, so it must mess with something. Dont worry.
I will be interested to hear how the IUI is going and what you have to do as i think this might be my next move if clomid fails.

Lornie I totally agree with the guys above, clomid is a strong drug given to specific people for specific reasons. If ur not under a GP or specialist its not a great idea to go it alone.
Ur 24, you have loads of time, it is really hard not getting what you want, we will all sympathise with you there, but you need to be patient and give urself some time.
I am sorry about the ep however it shows you can concieve naturally, which has to be a good thing,i think,as primrose said, you need to determine wether there was any lasting damage done and pursue ur doc.
I wish i was 24, I am 10 years older and feel the clock ticking very loud indeed!!

piper84 · 26/05/2008 11:06

Hi everyone, starting my clomid again today 50mg days 2-7, poor DH is looking forward to the symptoms

Lornie i am also 24 yrs old and on clomid, my doctor prescibed it though, i would strongly recommend not taking it on your own, i know ttc can be very frustrating, (this is my 2nd year) but clomid can overstimulate your ovaries which as far as i know can be quiet dangerous. a doctor really needs to moniter you and the response that you are having each month. if i was you i would keep trying with you doctor or if nessesary go to a different doctor

muminafrica · 26/05/2008 12:48

I have just had 3 unsuccessful attempts with clomid and IUI. Gynae suggests FSH injections followed by IUI next time. Has anyone done this??
Sorry if i'm on the wrong thread I'm new at this!

Moonlit · 26/05/2008 22:57

Lornie

I am not on Clomid yet. However, the side affects are quite severe from what I have read in some women. These range from multiple births to organ failure which is caused by over stimulation. This can happen to anyone!!!! Please don't be another statistic. If you feel different in any way from the norm, get yourself to the hospital. I understand your frustration hun.

Be positive and it will happen.

Good luck!!!!!

DungunGirl · 27/05/2008 08:53

HI ladies!!!

I haven't on since last week and boy there is lots to catch up on!

Firstly though - primrose
congratulations honey I am soooooo happy for you. Now just take care of yourself ok! I think you are right to keep it hush hush until 12 weeks - when we found out in March, my DH told his whole family...and I was only 5 weeks at the time....then of course with the miscarriage at 7 weeks - he had to tell them all that as well!!! Sooo eekkk!

ohhh.....congrats congrats I am so happy for you!

I thought you were on clomid all along prim...

Welcome to all the newbies!

lornieloo
I understand the frustration with TTC. I was diagnosed with PCOS after TTC for 12months...however, I was not/have not been given clomid even though I have jumped through all the hoops that the NHS require one too! It is a powerful drug like all the ladies say and even though I was so close to doing what you have done last year, I decided it was too risky.

At the end of the day, if you manage to permanently damage yourself with incorrect drug usage, then that would be worse than waiting a little longer and be monitored properly by a subfertility consultant.

Good luck!

hiya cam75

My appointment is a mere 7 days away now.....scary....

supersteph · 27/05/2008 09:31
