They also said AS my follicle was the right size I would have ovulated.

Pinkali37 · 19/05/2008 15:39

Hey Supersteph, fingers crossed for you!!! All the waiting is nerve racking...

mylovelymonster · 19/05/2008 15:41

Saw this on active convos and thought I'd pop in to wish all you ladies lots of lovely baby luck xxx

zippy76 · 19/05/2008 16:05

Hello,

I've never posted before but have read alot of the discussions.

I'm on second cycle of clomid after 17 months of irregular cycles - had blood test on first and progesterone level was high so I'm hopeful I'll ovulate again this month (last two cycles have been 30 days long)

My question is - we are trying to bd from about day 10 onwards, every couple of days right through to day 22/23. However my husband thinks we should 'save it up' a bit more as by the time I might be ovulating (about day 17) there's not much left in the bank (Sorry TMI!!). This is stressing me out as all the advice is to do it every 2-3 days.

Any thoughts?

Pinkali37 · 19/05/2008 16:27

Hi Ziggy,

My Consultant said we were to 'save it up' by abstaining from day 10 to eve of 12 because my DH had a vasectomy reversal after 13 years of a vasectomy and we disovered he only had 33% good ones. Sperm re generate very quickly so I can't see if your DH is active and hasn't any recordable problems why you would need to. Although remember Sperm hangs around longer than Eggs so it is easier to get pregnant just before you ovulate than afterwards. So if you find out the precise timing of sperm (hanging around) you could do it say every 48hrs. I know we did the month I got pregnant because my DH started to feel like he was a robot.

zippy76 · 19/05/2008 16:46

Hi Pinkali37,

Thanks for the advice! My DH's sperm counts are okay - a little bit lower than average but within fertility range. I think he's got into his mind that we should save up until closer to ovulation because this is what friends of ours did (using OPKs) and the fact that the volume becomes much less each time we bd.

He is worrying me that we're doing it wrong by bd'ing every 2-3 days.

Pinkali37 · 19/05/2008 17:40

Mmmmm I woudl still say that checking temperature on clomid can be dodgy because it can give inaccurate readings so in essence to do it every other day from day 12 to 20 should suffice.

pootleflump · 19/05/2008 17:57

I found that when I took clomid I was very aware of when I was ovulating- really strong pains for a few days, as soon as I started getting the pains I just went for it every day. It worked as I conceived first round of taking it and am now 10 wks pg.

zippy76 · 19/05/2008 19:59

Ooh that would be a good indicator. How would you describe the pain? Oh - and congratulations!

piper84 · 19/05/2008 20:15

Hi Ladies,

can i join in?

story so far.............. after 2 yrs of ttc #1 we were prescribed clomid in february this year and got pg on the second cycle. unfortunatly we mc recently . now i'm waiting for AF to show her ugly face so we can start back on the clomid 50mg days 2-7. not looking forward to the symptoms again though. i got awful cramps around ovoulation, hot flushs and for the five days i was taking it i was a pure loony tune! completely bonkers! ah well. its all worth it in the end

zippy76 · 19/05/2008 20:26

Hi Piper,

Sorry about your mc

Clomid certainly has send me a bit loony! Lots of tears and anxiety but mainly a very short fuse!

Like you say - worth it though!

piper84 · 19/05/2008 20:43

Hi Zippy

Glad i'm not the only one so who goes a bit mad when i'm one it its just for the 5 days i'm taking, by evening time on day 5 i start to go back to normal

pootleflump · 19/05/2008 20:52

Thanks zippy . Just normal ovulation pains but very strong ones- a bit like period pains except you only get the pains in one side (depending which side you're ov from). I don't know if everyone gets ov pains or not- I was never aware of them until after having dd.

cam75 · 19/05/2008 21:39

just reading your stories about clomid
ohmygosh. I started my tablet today and i can say i feel sick and along with my period pains but my pains are strong... I have found that my bleeding is not flowing?? anyone had that?
i am going for a scan next week what do i expect to see? when do you have sex? is there a special timing?
i feel emotional but i guess AF is playing with me......

piper84 · 19/05/2008 21:45

Hi Cam75

Oh i really hope it works for you there is loads of success stories around and hopefully you will be one of them i found my period seemed to not last as long when on the comid also had hot flushes, serious mood swings! and ovoulation pains. i'm just waiting for AF now so i can start it again. i'm not sure about the special timing tbh, the month we got pg we just did it every day from day 10 to day 22. some people recommend doing it every second day. i'm sure someone else will be along soon who can offer some better advice

lou2135 · 19/05/2008 22:15

cam75 · 19/05/2008 22:18

aother hand to hold... good luck too you too (wink)

DungunGirl · 20/05/2008 08:37

supersteph so pleased to hear that they confimed a mature follicle! Excellent news!

pink Nice to see you back!

lou2135 As far as I know, hardly anyone on this thread had bmi over 35, except a lady called Moonlit and myself. Unfortunately, consultants refused to give it to either one of us! I have been killing myself to lose weight and now I am bmi 33.5! So, hopefully my next appointment will see me walking out with a perscription in my hand!!!

DungunGirl · 20/05/2008 09:10

Hi ladies

After writing that post...it hit me..I am merely 2 weeks away from my next appointment with the consultant.

I am suddenly sh*tting myself.

After all that has happened....TTC for 14 months, being told that I had to lose loads of weight before they would help, magically falling pregnant naturally just to lose it at 7 weeks ( I got slapped cheek from my DS 4 weeks later...makes me wonder! ) and NOW....the time has come where I may actually have a chance to get clomid.

Added stresses of DS possibly having developmental dyspraxia...it is all too much.

Suddenly I am really scared. Now that my bmi is under 35, they can't use the excuse of my bmi not to give it to me...but I am feeling all anxious.

What is wrong with me!!!!! It has been 16 months...I should be desperate.

Maybe I have just had to deal with all this in one hit and now it seems like it might be coming to a head...but then....ohhh I don't know....

Pinkali37 · 20/05/2008 09:37

Dungungirl, you've had the right attitude previously. You have done everything you can to improve your chance of having a successful pregnancy and also of getting clomid. All you can do is fight, fight and fight until you get it. Do not let them pas you off at your next appointment. Write a list before you go in (as I know all too well how easy it is to come out and think "shit" i didn't ask a) b) etc.. ) plus WELL DONE ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS AND GETTING THE BMI under 35 !!!!!

xxxx Wishing you all the luck in the world xxxx

supersteph · 20/05/2008 10:41

Dungunirl, Congrates on your weight loss. I felt like you when they presribed clomid to me. I felt worried about how the tablets would react to me, also any side effects they could cause me.

Beleave me all the worrie is worth it. Just remember you will be one step closer to having that baby.

We all would not be taking these magic pills for any other reason.

A masive good luck to you. xx

cam75 · 20/05/2008 10:59

dungirl,

i was nervous and scared too, there is nothing wrong in that. When you have been ttc for so long and you suddenly get hope hold on to it.
Be postitve, it helps alot. they way i see it is at the end of summer i will be pregnant something that i have waited for years to happen. i have my scan next week and i am dying to know what is going on inside. the power of pray is very helpful.
baby dust to you you are not alone xxxx

DungunGirl · 20/05/2008 11:08

Thanks for the support ladies.

You are all right....I still really want Clomid and I am pinning most of my hopes on the fact it will sort me out.

Maybe I am having a bit of a come-down after losing all my 'happy fat' as I like to call it! I have officially lost 2 stone since Nov 08.

Actually the more I think about it, I think my anxiety is in fact the fear/worry that after all the hard work I have put it to lose all this weight that there is that possibility that the consultant will still not be willing to give me clomid.

Ohhhh 2 more weeks....I am going to be a nervous wreck!

chez77 · 21/05/2008 16:50

Hi Ladies,

I'm new here, My husband actually found this site (bless )
I've been trying to conceive for 2yrs, went to my gp in Feb and 5wks later i'm booked in for a Lap & Dye, got the all clear but i'm just not ovulating enough!!
I've been put onto Clomid(50mg) which i started in April, just had my 21 day blood test and it appears there's no change
This is all getting really frustrating for me because i'm actually in America, so i had the blood test done here, when the nurse rang with my results she said 'They were abnormal, i'm not ovulating but something about my hormone levels being 77!!!! (hope i'm not confusing you all or boring you )
I'm due to see the doctor tomorrow so she can go through it with me.
I take my Clomid day 2-5.
Any help is sooooo welcome.
Thank you for being patient lol

cam75 · 22/05/2008 09:15
