Good morning ladies.
Ang14 for my first and second cycle of clomid I used provera to induce a bleed. I had a bleed about the second day from the last pill taken. If I was you I would give my gp a ring for advise, but it seems that you did have a bleed so that is good news.

To up date every 1 on my 3rd round of clomid, I went for my folicle scan yesterday (cd 16)that showed a 17mm follicle and my womb lining was 10mm.
I could not believe that it was working at last. They said it was the metformin that had worked well with the clomid.
I had a HCG shot yesterday to make me ovulate and have been prescribed intercoure for the next two nights.

I am now in the 2ww. Everything is looking good. x

Nandos very sorry to here it did not work out, It has happend once so you know there will be a next time soon enough. xx

SuperSteph-Thanks for the response
I just signed up on this site. I left a message for my ob/gyn today. I will let you know what she says. I hope she says I can start the clomid. I am glad to hear things worked for you this month with clomid.

DungunGirl · 15/05/2008 08:37

Good luck cam75!

cam75 · 15/05/2008 16:46

thanks dungungirl....
how are you? hope all is well and swell with you.

viksam · 15/05/2008 20:42

Hi cam75 there are plenty of hands to hold here. We all have different stories which is really interesting. Whats urs if you dont mind me asking. You said you had failed IVF, that sucks. Did you have that before you had clomid?

Hi everyone else, I am feeling much better now, thanks for the support. Just to recap I have just finished my 3 course of clomid. Man i hope this is my month or its double dose for me for the next 3. Im not being monitored at all from the consultant or the Doc, unlike u supersteph Id love to know whats going on, think ill get in touch with the doc to ask. Are u being monitord for a reason? Remind me i cant remember sorry.

Hope everyone is happy and well.
x

cam75 · 15/05/2008 23:42

hi viksam,

i have had pcos for over more than 10yrs.
been ttc for at leats 4-5yrs no joy. Had a failed ivf in 2005. I had a laparoscopy last year as i was haing pains and stuff, they did a dye test and nothing bloaked. It is a big ? why i have become pregant before. Dr suggested clomid so i am due to start soon as the curse arrives!!!!
I have been told by the dr's that if this does not work then i will have to consider ivf agagin wbich i will have to pay for as i got the first cycle free.
I pray that this works time is getting on and i still have a window??? that's what the drs stay.
Are you on clomid? how is it going? any side effects?

DungunGirl · 16/05/2008 08:45

Hi Cam75

OK thanks. Like Viksam said, lots of hands to hold here! We all have been through the mill a bit.

Most of the ladies here have been on Clomid, but like you, I am still waiting to be given it.

I have a DS aged 3 , conceived naturally and immediately. My story is that I have been trying for now almost 16 months for the second. It is all weird, we are both young - I am just 30, hubby 32 and in good health. I suppose my weight has to be of some factor...but I fell pregnant with DS and I was overweight then too! Ah well.

Anyway, VERY long story short - managed to get pregnant myself in Feb 08, unfortunately miscarried at 7 weeks. Have my next appointment at subfertility on 2nd June. In the meantime, killing myself to keep losing weight which is a bugger with PCOS ( yes I was just diagnosed this year after TTC with no luck ). I have lost to date 2 stone though! So I well pleased. If I can get off 1 more stone I will be happy with my weight. I will still be overweight-obese going by the bmi table, but that is a load of bull anyway. As long as I am no more than a size 14 then that is fine.

Last appointments I had, they refused to give me Clomid because of weight.. THere is the new stupid bmi rule, your bmi has to be below 35 before they prescribe.

Now I got my bmi down to 33.5 so they better give it to me on the 2nd!

YOu mentioned you managed to fall pregnant before? So is this the 2nd you are trying for too?

Fruity

I was appalled by your story. More reason for me to get pi**ed off with the NHS.

I mean honestly! YOu were going to have to wait forever in the first place, and now they have just shunted it almost 2 months more! OUTRAGES!

I understand your difficulty being a childminder and all. My DS goes to a childminder and she always has to book hospital appointments/dentist for after 6pm.

HOwever I do agree with Attila - your sub-fertility unit sounds like it is totally rubbish in organising itself! If you could ask to change hospitals, it might be short term hassle for long term gains?

supersteph · 16/05/2008 12:26

hi all,

Viksam They should monitor every one on clomid to see if that dose is working for you. Also I would not have got an HCG shot to make me ovulate if I was not scaned. I was told to up the clomid dose for my second cycle as there was no ovulation on the first round.

If I was you I would def get in touch with your carer and request day 12-14 scan. Remember it is your choise that matters, and also your body.

I keep my fingers crossed that this third cycle will be third time lucky for us both.
I am 2dpo today what about you? xx

LiliVonSchtupp · 16/05/2008 12:32

Can I ask a question about clomid. When I lived in England I was prescribed it for conceiving both ds's. I was told to take it on days 2-6, starting at 50mg, eventually rising to 100mg.

However I now live abroad and my gynacologist has told me to take it days 5-10. This is now my 6th month in and still no luck. Does anybody know what difference it makes taking on different days?

supersteph · 16/05/2008 14:06

I dont think it matters that much what days you take clomid. I was told the earlier you take clomid the more follicles you make, the later you take it the better the eggs are (but fewer are made) hope this helps.

lauralou1 · 17/05/2008 12:34

hi dungungirl howare you doing with you weight lose hope your ok

lauralou1

danismum · 17/05/2008 17:05

Hi, I've been prescribed Clomid 30mg and due to start taking it next cycle. We've been ttc for nearly 2 years. Have had the tube tests and it was the most painful thing I've ever done! Tubes went into spasm so it didn't work, so then they did a laparoscopy in March 08. They found a small amount of endometriosis, but they've said it's mild so shouldn't affect conceiving too much. So now they've given me Clomid so I came home and started looking it up etc, and have read all the comments on here and now I'm really confused!! My specialist hasn't said anything to me about ovulating or not ovulating, do I assume that I am? I have normal periods every 28 days, so does that mean I'm ovulating normally?

Also, have read that a lot of you have to go and have blood tests, scans and other tests throughtout your cycles, but I'm not due to have any? He just said that my tubes are fine and shouldn't have any problems.

The only other thing I thought of when trying to work out why we hadn't got pregnant yet, was the fact that we like to use a lubricant during sex. Does anyone know if this is harmful to sperm?

lauralou1 · 18/05/2008 10:08

hi my consultant gave m provera to bring on a period normally when i take it after the last tablet my period starts 2 days later but it is now the 5th day

does anyone have any information on provera

cam75 · 18/05/2008 10:51

hi all,
dreaded curse has arrived.... I can take my clomid tablet today!!!!!
From here to maternity!!!!!!!
I am still going to see me gp 2moro as i still have a bit of weight to get rid of.
i will keep you informed on my feelings and if there are side effects

supersteph · 18/05/2008 13:08

Hello every 1,

Danismum I have not heard any 1 having a dose of clomid like you are on, the normal dose to start is 50mg. I would'nt worrie as maybe this is all you need to conceive. As for scans and blood tests, you should be monitord by at least one of these. That way your know for sure if clomid is working for you. Also if that dose is strong enough.
Depending on which lubricant you use, it can be very harmful to the sperm. Contact your gp to see which is the best one to use when your ttc. Good luck x

danismum · 18/05/2008 14:26

Thanks supersteph, i had noticed that everyone who's mentioned it has had a higher dose than me. I'm just assuming that the docs don't think there is anything wrong with me so therefore have started me on that. but they made no mention of monitoring me at all. am thinking of ringing the hospital tomorrow and seeing if i can speak to anyone about it. thanks again for your advice x

supersteph · 18/05/2008 22:19

Your very welcome danismum.
That is how I got started on my treatment by ringing the hospital myself and the fertility nurse told me to get a referal from my GP.
If you want any thing done than do it yourself. It worked for me. x

ang14 · 19/05/2008 03:44

Lauralou1-I took provera 3 times (5 days, 10 mg) The first two time my period came three days after I was done with the pills(so it was day 8). The third time it came 7 days after I was done(so it was day 11). My ob/gyn told me it can happen within two weeks. You'll probably get it within a few days.

DungunGirl · 19/05/2008 10:07

Hi LauraLou

I am fine thanks! I had my gym programme review last week and have lost a total of about 13 inches all over my body since feb!!! How cool is that!

I am hoping to lose another 2 pounds/1kg before 2nd June! Might be wishful thinking as the fat is getting stubborn now...but hope hope!

How about you? How are your efforts coming along?

Pinkali37 · 19/05/2008 12:53

Hi all, just popping in to say HI. Danismum, I have severe endometriosis (basically it is everywhere) and i convceived on 50mg so I am sure you will be fine. Good luck.

danismum · 19/05/2008 13:29

hi, thanks pinkali37, it's lovely to hear a success story.
Supersteph - how right you are!!!!
Today I'm fuming!!!! This is gonna be long but i need to get it off my chest! It's only since looking on web that I've realised that my doc hasn't really told me anything!! I'm so angry, cos if I hadn't bothered to look stuff up then i wouldn't have a cat in hell's chance of becoming pregnant. Firstly, I read lots about women who weren't sure if they ovulated, and to be honest, this had never even occurred to me. I thought if you had a period then that means you're ovulating? I've only had 1 day21 blood test done (months ago) and no-one said anything about the results and I stupidly didn't think anything of it. I've also read about women being monitored while on Clomid, but again my doc hasn't mentioned anything. So I called the hospital this morning and spoke to the nurse and she's gonna post me a day21 blood test form. Lets hope day21 falls on a weekday.(!)
On a different subject, since I gave birth to my daughter 6 years ago, my breast milk has never completely dried up. I breastfed for 4 weeks, but since then I've always been able to squeeze a few drops out. I've mentioned this to my GP 3 times in the last 5 years, twice in the last year. It was only after a laparoscopy when my belly button got infected that I noticed the milk was green! So I said this to the doc at the same time and he just gave me cream for my belly button. Then 2 weeks ago, I noticed the milk had got a darker green so back i went to the GP and saw someone different. He took a swab and saw that I was under the Gynae and said to mention it to them next time i saw them. So when I had my appt last week, I explained and the doc gave me some Bromocriptine as well as the Clomid. Not once did he mention that the milk could be a cause of infertility. Oh no. You'd think he'd know!! It was only when I asked the pharmicist if the pills would interfere with Clomid, and he said the two pills go together and explained that the milk could be a problem. I know that I'm stupid for not knowing, as plenty of women use breastfeeding as a contraception, but I never thought of it, especially since it's been 6 years!
Then today, I thought I'd go and buy a digital basal thermometer (something else they've never suggested at the docs or hospital) so off I trotted to Lloyds, and they've never even heard of it. Unbelieveable! I had to stand there and explain what it was for while they just looked blankly at me before suggesting trying Boots. I felt like a complete failure for needing one. Thankfully, Boots have them out on shelves, and the experience was a lot less traumatic!
So sorry to ramble on, but god, I feel a bit better now!! When I read through the above then it's no wonder it hasn't happened yet. I realise docs are very busy but I feel shocked at how little I knew about it. Thank god for the internet!!
Thanks for reading x

Pinkali37 · 19/05/2008 14:56

Danismum, checking your temperature is difficult when on Clomid as it can interfere with the norm.

My consultant told me to abstain from sex from day 10 to 12. Then on the eve of day 12 DO IT, then on 14 am DO IT, then on 16 PM do it and again and again like that.

I would never know when I am ovulating as never have a sign so I used the above method and voila ! Of course every day doesn't hurt either. He told me to stop at day 17/19. Clomid SHOULD make you regular if you haven't been before hence why this method works.

I had day 21 blood tests but DON'T be dicouraged if they come back negative (ALWAYS RING UP FOR RESULTS). My 2nd month was 1 when it needs to be over 10 but really 30. My 3rd month was 67 and once again voila.

supersteph · 19/05/2008 15:33

Danismum, I am so glad you rang the hospital, I found my doctors knew very little about fertility. I find myself seaching for everything on the net as my first resort.

I am 5dpo today and my temp has dropped a bit this am. I'm hopping it could be implantation.

I rang the hospital as I was not convinced I ovulated after the HCG shot. AS my temps have not gone up that much.

They informed me that after the HCG shot my temps could be all over the place as the hormone in the shot. So they said not to worrie about my temps and just to do a pregnancy test 14 days after the shot.
