TAKING CLOMID FOR THE FIRST TIME AND REALLY EXCITED AND SCARED!!!!

HELLO EVERYONE !!!!
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONCIEVE FOR NEARLY A YEAR AND WITH NO LUCK AND AN UNDERACTIVE THYROID THE DOCTOR HAS PRESCRIBED ME WITH CLOMID!!!
I TOOK MY PERIOD ON 23RD DEC AND TOOK IT DAY 1 _ 5 I AM DUE TO GET MY BLOODS TAKEN ON 11TH THEN 23RD IS BIG TEST DAY!!!
I HAVE READ SO MANY SUCCESS STORIES BUT I CANT HELP FEELING NEGITIVE AS I DONT WANT TO GET LET DOWN !!!

HAS ANYONE GOT ANY SUPPORT OR ADVICE OR FEELING THE SAME??

St. Helier's is here. It was the fertility dept (one of Mrs Nargund's nurses) at St.Georges that told me DP has to go to St. Heliers. She said St. George's doesn't do sperm tests.

taking a break from packing, used to do continuous work but now hardly an hour and i cant stand it anymore ...
oh yes..its near to croydon..now i remember.
we live in wandsworth area so tooting was quite convenient for us and maybe the test wasnt done there but i was with hubby when he dropped the test into the incubator for analysis. hmmm that was weird..

Oh poor DH's. I remember when we went to the IVF clinic and Dh had to do his sample. HE is one of these peope that almost put his feet down and said it wasn't natural and he didn't think he could do it. I went into the room with him and it was just awful. You could hear people standing around in the corridors and talking. The things we go through!!!!

Hi, I just finished with 2nd cycle ttc #2. I do ovulate (did a dy21 test).

Can you please give your opinion? I wonder if I should start on clomid 50mg. I turned 42 last month. or should I wait another cycle?

What are the pros and cons of taking clomid?

What does it do besides push out that egg?

When do you need to get a scan when taking clomid?

2 months is not a long time to be trying to be honest. Doctors won't even refer you for tests until you have been trying for at least 12 months.

It does seem pretty early to be trying to get Clomid. Clomid convinces your brain to not stop produces what ever it does to encourage ovulation. So in effect instead of 1 egg coming down you could have 3 (e.g.). It forces the body to ovulate but does not work every cycle. I didn't have scans when I was on Clomid, just day 21 (and in some cases, 23, 25 and 27) progesterone blood tests to check for ovulation. If you do ovulation, is there any point in clomid? It wouldn't help.

Heron, I started acumpuncture the month I got pregnant!!!!! Had been ttc for 18 months before that!

Are you having day 21 blood tests?

No they dont do that test for me as I always ovulate late. First cycle I ovulated on day 33 and this cycle I ovulated on day 28. I know this information as I temp and ovulation test. I also had plenty of the good stuff their (if you know what I mean
I would like to know if everything is at the right place at the right time why do you not get pregnant?

Looks like round 3 is a lucky round so I am keeping possitive.

I also am totally irregular BUT following my 2 ops for endometriosis they got a little closer together (anything from 35 to 45) so they did blood tests from day 21 then on day 23, 25, 27 etc... I found clomid (especially the month I got prg) made it more regular. On the months I ovulated they were better. In fact the month I got pregnant it must have going to be a very good one as I tested on day 27!!!!! BLIMEY.... and cos of my dates ovulation was near enough perfect and that has NEVER happened before.

I really do wish you the world of luck that cycle no. 3 is it. Are you on 50mg?

Now i've become slightly obsessed with this nuchal fold scan thingy. We are not offered it around here so have to have the blood test but I am not sure whether to take it or not, it wouldn't make a difference to the out come? What about you???

my blood test is just before my scan date which is on the 16th may.
i read somewhere that blood test together with the nuchal fold scan after the 11th week would be more accurate in case baby got any abnormalities etc.
also they might check for other diseases like diabetes so its better if u get one.
i dont have a problem with injections or needles but taking blood is my worst fear i really really hate the feeling of pulling blood of my body ..eeeks (had one 6mths back and my whole body went cold and nearly cried)

Hello everyone sorry for butting in just wondering if I could pick your brains. I am on my first cycle of clomid 50mg I was already ovulating but been trying for ages.
I was scanned on cd 13 1 follicle was 13mm and a few more were 10mm. I dont usually ov until about cd17-18 so the nurse said I only had one follicle which would be released. My question is I have had + ov test since cd 18 maybe 17 and today is day 20 and its still +. I thought this only happened if you used them to early with clomid. If any one could shed any light I would be very gratefully Thanks

I am counting the days until I get my AF...weird I know....after my MS I was told that I should get an AF 4-6 later....I am only on my 4th week now but I can help but get anxious. I am crazy aren't I !!! I read so many things that said you are more fertile after a MS and keep hoping that maybe by a fluke or nature ( as we haven;t been TTC these last 4 weeks) that the few times we did may have done something?

Am I crazy to hope for another miracle?

cedar, +ovulation can show up to several days although the day of ovulation last only a day(or 2). thats why it is recommended to bd few days before ovulation and a couple of days after ovulation date so that u wont miss the actual date of egg release.. hope this helps

hi everyone,
i just got back from the EPU for a scan today due to my lack of symptoms.
Unfortunately the scan showed that the embryo might have stopped growing at 5wks or i might have got my lmp wrong(not likely to be the case)
i will be having a d/c if the scan shows no changes and if there is no bleeding by next week..
in any case, we might be trying again if d&c is done this month as soon as i recover. for now i need to rest after finding out the sad news but i will be here for u guys if need to chat

NANDOS - I AM SO SORRY. I have everything crossed for you that the dates are totally mixed up. How far are you supposed to be? The losing symptom thing can be a very worrying thing (I also did) but does not always prove to be the worse event. I really hope you have your dates wrong and please please let us know how you get on next week. but to wrong dates! xxx

Nandos, as I have said before you have to keep positive!!!! They are not sure your pregnancy has stopped as they are going to rescan you. So there still is hope for this one. I really, really hope you have your dates wrong. Keep us informed. xx
