Hi girls, I'm new to this so bare with me, I am on my second cycle of clomid, have been uped to 100mg as 50mg did nothing, I had my follicle scan on day 12 with 16 follicle and 6.87 womb lining, which I think is good I have been doing the do every other day and thought I would join you guys whilst I wait.

Pinkali37 · 07/04/2008 14:48

Hello, I am so pleased to report that all was fine with PEA, infact he is now a BROAD BEAN. 20 mm!! With healthy heartbeat. Thank you for your warm wishes they really are appreciated.xxxxx

Pinkali37 · 07/04/2008 16:45

Littlemissdaisy - I am very surprised that they are upping you on your second course of clomid. They are supposed to wait 3 months before they do that. I got pg on 3rd round and blood test showed 2nd round didn't work at all but evidence shows that the more you have clomid the more it gets chance to work. Are you under a consultant?

Moonlit · 07/04/2008 16:48

Hi Ladies,

I have been watching and reading this thread with great interest. I have PCOS and have been taking Metformin since last year. However, my GP is making me hold out for Clomid until June. We are TTC DC2. Our DD was so easy to conceive, but we have been TTC DC 2 since October 2006. My GP keeps fobbing me off, so I have made an appointment to see her this Thursday and have a few words with her.

Well I have regular cycles, I have had lots of blood tests (which have all been fine). I have gained a lot of weight, but it's slowly coming off with Metformin. Anyway, I would like to know what hoops have the medical professionals made you all jump through, before they prescribed you Clomid. I assume when I go to my GP's, she isn't just going to write me out a prescription of Clomid?

Please help!!!!!!!

Thank you so much xxx

Pinkali37 · 07/04/2008 16:53

Hi Moonlit,

I have severe endometeriosis and following 2 operations my consultant suggested I try clomid. HE said he would suggest this to my GP but that some docs didn't like prescribing it so if my doc didn't want to he woudl write me a private prescription. I have found so many stories. Some people get it handed to them by their gp like jelly tots others have to fight for it.

SCREAM and make a fuss that normally helps. I'm not joking either.

littlemissdaisy · 07/04/2008 17:02

Hi Pinkali, yeah I was referred to Consultant in Jan, have not seen him personally have just see the nurses at the fertility unit, i'm worried now why would they have uped it so early

Pinkali37 · 07/04/2008 17:06

Don't be worried but I just think that they haven't given it a chance. One month my Progesterone level was at 1.0 (indicating i didn't ovulate), the next month it was at 67 and I got pregnant. So it can differ from month to month.

MamaMaiasaura · 07/04/2008 22:40

supersteph - i ovd day 47ish with ds2 who is now nearly 15 weeks old. The day 21 tests came back and said i hadnt ovd, started progesterone to induce bleed later in cycle, no bleed happened as was preg. There is always hope xx

Hoping to ttc no 3 in Dec so will be back on the clomid i expect

Moonlit · 08/04/2008 10:19

Hi Pinkali37, I did ask my GP about a month ago about Clomid. She said she would be happy to prescribe me Clomid. So why is she taking so long???? Anyway, I will see what she says on Thursday. I will be giving a Oscar nomination performance.

Hello! Have been on mn on other threads for awhile.

Quick update ttc for two years, mc at 9 weeks June 2007. Nothing since, hormones normal, sperm count normal, HSG ultrasound all ok.

Have hospital appointment on Thursday, to get HSG results (was clear). Does anyone know what the next step will be?

I think I have a slight LD I think, vit B6 (taking 50mg)seems to be helping this but I am not sure if I should tell Dr as am wondering if I could do with something like clomid to kick start things (ttc since July 2006 mc).

What do think? Don't really want to go down the 'continue to relax and see what happens'. I sometimes think it is worth going into these things with plans .

as you guys are already on clomid thought you might be the experts! Would welcome all advice as mn has been the best sorce of info since all this started!!! Feels like a very long time ago

anyone else been here?

supersteph · 08/04/2008 13:08

Thanks awen. I am currently on cd 21 and still no sign of ovulation. I am prety sure I 'O' on Cd 31ish last month with only 50mg of clomid, so as I am on 100mg this month and I have started metformin there might be a small chance. I say small because my 14 day follicle scan showed the biggist one to be only 8mm. But last month my 14 day scan showed an 9mm and that has gave my a small bit of hope this month.
If not sucsessful on this second round of clomid the fertility nurse said to do another round at 100mg of clomid and give the metformin chance to get in my body.

LITTLEMISSDAISEY I am on my second month of clomid and they put me up to 100mg after late ovulation on the first 50mg round so dont worrie too much. What CD are you currently on?

DungunGirl · 08/04/2008 13:20

Hello ladies

Back to normality today, Back at work.

Had my 'closure' appointment at the EPU this morning. They did another urine test hoping for a negative pregnancy result..which they got.

Everything else is clear, had a chat to the doctor who just basically gave me a little pep talk and told me to keep positive and once my body had recovered to keep on with my weight loss programme.

So...it was a little sad as it was basically drawing a line under the miscarriage and moving on.

Weird...I was already feeling connected to my little pea even though she ( I like to think it was a girl ) only stayed a little while...

BIG SIGH

PINK - Glad to hear that all is well with the pregnancy and that you now have a BROAD BEAN! Excellent.

PRIM - Yeah...we will get there one day soon!

DungunGirl · 08/04/2008 13:23

moonlit

Just read your thread saying that your GP was happy to perscribe you clomid. YOu know what after my GP telling me I needed Clomid, then the nurse at the fertility unit telling me I needed clomid - TWICE! and even the consultant saying so....I can understand the feeling!

If your GP is willing to prescribe, it saves you the heartache of this stupid hospital/NHS BMI rule....so go forr it!

Pinkali37 · 08/04/2008 13:27

Duncangirl - Hello you! It is so hard, I really do understand. Its the back to counting days etc but hey you've done it more than once now so this next time, you see it will work. At least the doc was kind about the weight loss, i.e. continue with it. All that can do is help things and everything else is really down to getting jiggy and timings.

Remind me again what they said about Clomid for you???? Aghhhh or is it you I am waiting to make sure all is ok with me and then I am posting you my remaining???? xx

Hi Poppy, I think you need to fight for clomid too. Waiting 2 years ttc is too long!!! Coudl you afford it privately?

littlemissdaisy · 08/04/2008 15:44

Hi Supersteph, I am on CD20 today, I have irregular cycles anything between 28 & 43 days, had a 37 day cycle with 50mg clomid think thats why she has not put me on 100mg, could definatley tell the difference on a 100mg I was like a bear with a sore head for a few days ,the things we have to go through!

DungunGirl · 09/04/2008 08:50

pink

Yeah....I keep trying to tell myself that all the weight loss is OBVIOUSLY having an effect and that if I can manage another stone over the next 2 months my chances keep improving!

AND YES! IT WAS ME that is in line for any unused clomid!

supersteph · 09/04/2008 15:59

I had a 43 day cycle with 50mg clomid so thats why I am on 100mg now to bring my cycle shorter. But as I said this month on 100mg my follicle scan only showed the largest follicle at 8mm. When on 50mg my follicle scan showed 3 follicles at 9mm and I am prety sure I ovulated late. As I didnot have much hope for the first cycle I stopped Bedding. So this month I am bedding every other day to make sure I dont miss the chance if I ovulate late again.
I dont have much hope for this cycle as I am still waiting for the metformin to get in my body. Keep me posted on your cycle as we are around the same CD> I am CD 22 today with still a neg Ovulation test.
xx

littlemissdaisy · 09/04/2008 16:20

Cool we can stick together

gem2mum · 09/04/2008 16:41

Hi there

Just started reading this thread. I am day 20 too and this is my first month of taking 50mg Clomid. Having blood test tomorrow for day 21 readings. My cycles were all over the place before - 21 to 34 days so I am wondering if Clomid regulates your cycles? Never managed to pick the right days to use ovulation sticks so gave up on those. Waiting - not very patiently!

supersteph · 09/04/2008 22:27

Clomid has not regulated my cycle as of yet but I am only on round 2 at the moment. I got 50 ovulation sticks from ebay for about £7.00 so I dont mind testing every day. Good luck and keep us posted. Did you not have a follicle scan around day 12 of your cycle? I find this scan very reasuring. xx

gem2mum · 10/04/2008 08:28

Oh thanks for the tip, I will get onto ebay. Boots sell 5 sticks for £16! Yes, had follicle scan which showed two small ones but I didn't realise that I could have asked their size. What size should they be as an ideal?

DungunGirl · 10/04/2008 13:39

gem2mum

A follicle which is deemed viable and big enough to indicate ovulation must be at least 20mm.

They prefer nearer 25mm.

I think us PCOS people tend to only make it up to about 9mm! That was the case with me anyway. On day 18 of my cycle ( i usually have 32 day cycles ) my biggest follicle was a mere 9mm.

gem2mum · 10/04/2008 15:48

DungunGirl. Thanks, at least I'm armed with something to ask them at the next scan. I can't believe they didn't bother to explain anything like that!

poppy75 · 10/04/2008 19:42

Hello everyone

Had appointment today and Dr has started me on 50mg clomid . So hopefully it will lengthen my LP!!! Fingers crossed ++++

Has anyone out there had a BFP after being on clomid???

gem2mum · 10/04/2008 19:52

Great Poppy. Its good to feel like something is moving forward isnt it. I dont know about this thread but quite a few people I know have got pregnant on Clomid although I never even knew they had taken it until they said once they knew I was starting it. Fingers crossed for a lucky month then!
