Here we go! Thread 14 for the nicest bunch of women on Mumsnet

Thread 13 was very joyful and very painful for me, but what it has shown me is that even old warhorses like me can get lucky, so there's no excuse for all you nubile young honies not to deliver the goods! Come on now, Mama Hester expects you to do your duty by your fellow ttc-ers

Get ready now, 1 - 2 - 3, GO!!!

Donbean,

I bet you 17 month old is a real treasure - that age is really special when they start to get their own personality.

Thanks for the encouragement and reassurance that I'm not as mad as I feel most of the time.

Donbean · 01/12/2004 20:09

He is he's gorgeous.
have you not had a period at all yet then?

muppetmentality · 01/12/2004 20:11

I know exactly what you mean.

I was expecting the news at my scan - because I had started bleeding on the Friday night and had the scan on the Monday.

I was expecting the worst and so partly prepared and I thought I'd prepared my husband for the same - but he was devastated and I felt guilty for not feeling upset and kept comforting him - but I felt guilty that I wasn't sad - when I'd done my grieiving on the Saturday and Sunday ! I also felt scared that he'd blame me for doing something that caused the miscarriage - but he never did - he was really supportive.

I'll never forget that empty sac on the screen and asking the radiographer "Was there ever a baby in it? and where has it gone ?"

Then I work in Intensive Care and women take overdoses and do drugs and all sorts and have healthy babies. It's so unfair.

marinda · 01/12/2004 20:13

Hi everyone too depressed to think of a chritmas name but impressed by the two - munnzeib and hula - welldone. Welcome muppetmentality and donbeam !
Where is bl*y AF ? CD25 (usually 24, but 28 has been known!) Will hold off testing but the depression and the pain is killing me!!!!!!!! Just know i'm not pg as am iritable on and off - but the cramps are also on and off to! Also lately since i have been TTC, AF has given me bad nausea - anyone else had this ??? Anyway must go and try to take it off my mind Love to you all!!!!!

Donbean · 01/12/2004 20:14

That sounds like a blighted ovum which was the cause of my last M/C.
Strange to get your head round isnt it?
I know what you mean about ICU, im an ICU/HDU nurse myself and i found it difficult to cope with that sort of thing also.

muppetmentality · 01/12/2004 20:15

23rd August Miscarriage
30th September Day 1 of period

Nothing since - and all tests negative - including blood test for HCG 3 weeks ago.

At least the stomach pains which made me think ectopic pregnancy have stopped.

Also been to GP to see if have any other physiological reason why no periods eg. UTI, infection, etc etc and everything is normal.

GP thinks I'm a paranoid nutter.

muppetmentality · 01/12/2004 20:17

Yes, I remember seeing on the screen at my GP's the words Blighted ovum.

What does that mean then ?

marinda · 01/12/2004 20:18

Please ignore bad spelling part of depression! Is this thread going on till Xmas it's getting long (although comforting!)

Donbean · 01/12/2004 20:19

What helped me was that they gave me a scan picture of my "baby". It made it real for me (both M/C,) and gave me something to grieve over.
Although it was an empty sac, for me i had been pregnant with all the symptoms so could not accept that there was no baby, just an empty sac.

muppetmentality · 01/12/2004 20:21

Marinda,

It's hell waiting to test isn't it.

I think the not knowing is worse than the knowing.

And then when you do know you try to convinve yourself that it;s negative because you tested too early, or at the wrong time of day, or that you did it wrong, or you've drank too much and so it's diluted the HCG.

I used to get awful nausea and faintness before my period when I was on lots of different types of pills - they had to try several different types until I got one which didn't cause nausea. I also get nausea when I'm not on the pill - but haven't had it since about 8 weeks ago when I thought I was pregnant but sadly wasn't.

The body plays cruel psychological tricks on us.

Good luck for whenever you test.

Donbean · 01/12/2004 20:21

Blighted ovum just means that there is no foetal development, just the sac. Put it into google and you will get a load of info on it, thats what i did.
the good news is that it is not an indication of future birth abnormalities, it realy is just a one off, one of those things.

Tania2 · 01/12/2004 20:30

Good Morning girls, (well for me anyway Aussie)
Welcome to the new girls and i hope we dont shock you too much.
Havent read through the post properly yet but just want to say that iam keeping my fingers crossed for you Hula i have a good feeling about you this month.
DH filled his little cup this morning and i will be dropping it off to the clinic soon fingers crossed that his sperm count is normal so we dont have to worry about him being the problem too.
I one more person says to me just forget about ttc and it will just happen i will scream and put their head through a wall dh said it to me last night and i just burst into tears it just gets me so frustrated how can you possible not think about ttc when you want it so bad. Went to a friends house yesterday and she is having her second (first same age as mine) she is due on the 18th but yesterday was feeling a little achy so is expecting that it might happen soon her ds was born on the due date. couldnt help but be so .
Hope you are all well i must go get ready to go to the clinic ds is still sound asleep we are off to a farm today for a xmas break up party for playgroup should be fun.

muppetmentality · 01/12/2004 20:35

Donbean · 01/12/2004 20:37

Pleasure, nice to talk to you. Take care and hopefully we will chat again x

chrismunnzieb · 01/12/2004 21:17

hi girsl, b4 I check the posts, I want to ask one question, am I a bad friend because my other friend who's also TTC (not OV/AF etc..) has told me tonight she needs to test as her nipples r sore, has AF style craps and when she was doing some heavy liftin she felt all faint and had a fuzzy feelin accross her hips, also says is feelin sick in the monrings but recons this is a sign of AF, so am I a bad friend for being what doesn't help is we were trying first, and i'll be really peeved if she is PG.

Twiga · 01/12/2004 21:29

Morning Tania, hopoe you're having a good day x

Hi Muppet, sorry to hear about your mc , it can take a while for your periods and stuff to settle down. I mc in July and this month is the first month that my cycle has been "normal" for me. Don't worry too much about bugging your GP, that's what he's there for and if it helps to put your mind at rest that's the main thing. Ask anything, someone on here normally has an answer or will try and find out for you.{{{{{{{{big hugs}}}}}}}}}

Twiga · 01/12/2004 21:31

Munzie, not a bad friend, just human [hug], lolx

jingleballs · 01/12/2004 22:03

hi everyone - been very busy - going away today for a few days and my little one has got an ear infection , so we've had very little sleep in the last couple of days. Phoned docs at 3 & was in at 4 - they're great & I got the very tall, unbelievably gorgeous one, so all was not bad

Anyway, welcome to all the new people on here, sorry to hear there's yet more suffering (and I mean suffering) frrom the pain of miscarriage. I've oly had half a one, abd many months of terror fearing one, so can only imagine how painful & hard it is.

jingleballs, don't feel bad for a second. who wouldn't feel ?
Have a nice few days, hope to see some bfp when I get back, fingers esp crossed for you hula xxx
