TTC Thread 14 ... Santa knows what we want for Christmas

Here we go! Thread 14 for the nicest bunch of women on Mumsnet

Thread 13 was very joyful and very painful for me, but what it has shown me is that even old warhorses like me can get lucky, so there's no excuse for all you nubile young honies not to deliver the goods! Come on now, Mama Hester expects you to do your duty by your fellow ttc-ers

Get ready now, 1 - 2 - 3, GO!!!

Hi, been stalking your thread the past couple of days, and Kizzy gave me the courage to come out of hiding.

tooks · 23/11/2004 19:57

Hi all...
congratualtions to Wilbur and Piff. Great news!
I am ok today, took some time out just me and dd and feel much better now. Have vowed NEVER to do one of the early tests again as I think it just got my hopes up and then caused such crashing disappointment. So will be waiting until AF is def late then will test.
DH and I have planned a month of lots of Bding instead! And have realised that if AF gets to be two or three days late I will be testing on Christmas Day... now I really hope that Santa knows what I want for Christmas!!! Bye xx

munnzieb · 23/11/2004 20:23

is it wise to use persona as well as do the temp thing, or should it be one or the other?

Fingers crossed for you tooks, u go girl with the extra bd! lol.

RudyDudy · 23/11/2004 20:43

hi munnzie (just left you a message on your other thread!)

don't know about wise but if you do two things it might drive you even crazier! Sure you're said before but do you have a reasonably regular cycle? If so (and it's less than 35 days) then I would really recommend persona. It is so easy to use and especially as you have a couple of months before DH is back it should definitely be telling you exactly when you O by then - and nothing can stop you!!

Have never done temping myself so can't really comment but have never fancied it as it always sounds really faffy.

jeddah · 23/11/2004 20:44

Just spent half an hour cathing up on all the gos!

Big warm welcome to kizzy and colinsmommy

Ernest sorry for the BFBLOODYN!!!!!!! funnythat you say that you feel slightly better knowing!!!!!!I have felt this too in the past....when you know its a BFN at least you can get on with your life!...better luck next time!

morningpaper · 23/11/2004 20:51

Hmm is there a thread explaining all the abbreviations used in CONCEPTION or shall I start one?

jeddah · 23/11/2004 20:53

morningpaper there is an acronym at the top of the page for abbreviations

Twiga · 23/11/2004 20:53

There are some abbreviations on the stats thread that geordie was organising, also think a lot of them are in the site list too. Might be worth bunging a list onto this thread so that folk don't need to scroll down?!

munnzieb · 23/11/2004 20:53

thanks Rudy, i've had a look, MIL is fine tonight (she's sober and we can have a nice chat) anyhow I do have a persona as you say in the 7 weeks it takes for DH to come back it should be used to my goins on so hopefully (winks) by the end of jan i'll know! currently i'm 26 days. don't worry about not puttin two and two together!

colinsmommy · 23/11/2004 20:58

Thank you for the welcome. It would be helpful to know where to go for the abbreviations. Looked at the acronym list, but not all are listed. Oh well, probably will figure out most of them in time!

pooka · 23/11/2004 20:59

Hi all

Well am now on cd 29 (I think). Still no AF, but tested on day 27 (Ithink) with an early test kit as I've been feeling very nauseous. But BFN! I suppose my cycle has been a little erratic recently (around 30 days ish) so may have tested too early. But think that I have some sort of bug instead.

Ho hum. December is a good month to get pregnant. September baby, good for academic year blah blah blah. Fingers crossed for everyone this month!

munnzieb · 23/11/2004 21:00

good luck pooka will be keeping my fingers crossed!

colins mommy - what ones do u want to know? theres a few on the TTC stats thread which geordie has done for us.

RudyDudy · 23/11/2004 21:03

copied these from the stats thread - think they're all there

Abbreviations
dh/dp-dear husband/partner
cd- cycle day (counted from the first full day of af- aunt flow - period
ob- old bitch- period
dpo- days past ovulation
cm- cervical mucus
ewcm- egg white cervical mucus
BFP - big fat positive
BFN - big fat negative (relating to pregnancy test)
OPK - Ovulation Prediction Kit

welcome colinsmummy

RudyDudy · 23/11/2004 21:04

(don't want to confuse threads but glad to hear you had a good chat with MIL munnzie. Sadly things are so bad with us even sober we don't chat )

munnzieb · 23/11/2004 21:07

OV - ovulation (explanitry really) i'll swop back to the other one!

colinsmommy · 23/11/2004 21:08

Thank you for the abbreviations.

pooka · 23/11/2004 21:14

Ooooh MunnzieB,I've been thinking about getting a persona. THought it would come in handy even if do conceive without it anyway. How easy is it to work?

munnzieb · 23/11/2004 21:16

pooka, youre asking the wrong gal ther! It took me 3 days to work out how to reset the damn thing, I think rudy has one as well..... she's told me how to reset it, jeddah has also just bought one. It looks fairly self explaintry thou, will keep you posted but my new cycle isn't due for a some days yet. I think jeddah has used her one.

RudyDudy · 23/11/2004 21:17

pooka - I'm part of the persona fan club (and honestly not on commission ) but I think it is soooo easy to use.

Hulababy · 23/11/2004 21:22

I asked somethigng similar too - how does Persona work? Is it easy and simple? How much does it cost? Is it reliable? Or should this be best on another thread?
