Here we go! Thread 14 for the nicest bunch of women on Mumsnet

Thread 13 was very joyful and very painful for me, but what it has shown me is that even old warhorses like me can get lucky, so there's no excuse for all you nubile young honies not to deliver the goods! Come on now, Mama Hester expects you to do your duty by your fellow ttc-ers

Get ready now, 1 - 2 - 3, GO!!!

p.s. all. sorry for 'gatecrashing' ttc thread, I'm not doing it to gloat about being pg but I just couldn't not post to Hester. All the best of luck to all of you. xxx

jeddah · 20/11/2004 18:23

'don't' even!

RudyDudy · 20/11/2004 18:27

a quick post from me as I'm supposed to be getting ready to go out for dinner with my antenatal group as our lo are all 1.

just had them all round with the kids which was lovely but we haven't seen one of the couples in ages and they turned up and she's 6 months pg! Really happy for them obviously and actually would be totally freaked by a 16mth age gap but still feeling a little

feeling guilty for thinking that and cross with myself for being upset as this is only our 2nd month of ttc #2 but you know how it is girls....

just glad to have the space here to air my irrational feelings...

geordie · 20/11/2004 19:00

((rudy))

know how you feel! I am sure that another woman in my antenatal is ttc...and I am dreading her bfp ....but hopefully it won't be long for any of us....come on who is due to test next then???

moschops · 20/11/2004 19:17

well i've settled down after my tears earlier. dp stayed out of the way for a bit then asked if i'd calmed down and made me a cup of tea (the universal tonic!)everything is fine now.

well i couldn't resist and did a hpt this afternoon....bfn of course which i was expecting really but you know how it is, there's always a little bit of hope. consoling myself that i tested too early, but really i'm just frustrated because i have no idea how long this cycle will be. at the moment i'd settle for having a normal(ish) predictable cycle.

well we're off to the pub tonight with friends so that will take my mind off things.......enjoy your evening girls, whatever you may be doing

BeckiF · 20/11/2004 20:06

My OPK was neg again this evening, but FF says I may of already had my fertile peak in which case we did bd that day so who knows?

munnzieb · 20/11/2004 21:59

Hi girls, I'm floating about whilst talking to DH, all we're doing at the mo is arguing, a lot of crossed wires I think, that and these bloody hormones, does anyone else have PMT from about cd16 ish until about cd16ish of the next month! lol. God somedays I wish I was a man, they must have it easier than us women, (they don't have hormones!)

moschops · 20/11/2004 23:51

munnzieb > aren't hormones wonderful and awful all at the same time? they cause such unpredictable behaviour and at the same time it is so much easier to blame our reactions on them.

i'm slightly drunk and upset that while in the pub i overheard an aquaintance gloating about being three months pregnant....had to stop myself from crying....i want it so badly, a feeling i know you guys share with me.

BeckiF > i'm soooooo sending babymaking vibes your way......really hope you get lucky.

as jealous as i am of people in RL getting/being pregnant i really don't feel any jealousy for anyone on here that does. i know we all deserve it so much that i can only feel happiness for those lucky ones. jeez i am having my first real emotional month of ttc. thankyou everyone for being here to listen when i need you xxxx

munnzieb · 21/11/2004 10:34

morning moschops,

Hope you're feelin better hon. I know these bloody hormones have a lot to answer for! it will get easier hopefully! (I'm not as weepy now - used to cry for the silly things like the dogs muddy paws on the kitchen floor etc... but after 6 months it seemed to improve) now it's anger mood swings instead! lol. whoeva said TTC would be easy. A cup of tea and a bar of dairy milk normally helps! lol.

The date for the gyno is the 11th jan, so it's only about 6 weeks to go, does anyone know what happens at the first visit?, (I have to take a smaple)

BeckiF · 21/11/2004 11:15

Morning all - well my temp this morning has shot down rather than up as it should IF I had of ovulated. My sick and desperate mind tells me that it's an implantation dip and I will cling to that until AF shows her scraggy head.

RudyDudy · 21/11/2004 12:38

oh beckif - fingers crossed that is exactly what's happened. I don't know much about the whole temp thing as i'm a persona gal but have you had that happen before?

moschops and munnzie - bloody crazy hormones . I fully recommend the Dairy Milk treatment - ate a 200g bar in one evening last week

Sallie - can you help me with the persona sticks as opks...CD6 for me today so my first test stick as starting persona this month - test stick had one strong line and one faint one. Does this mean anything? Are they both strong when OV or does even a faint line mean OV? (I'm presuming not as I 'usually' OV around CD21/22). Any ideas?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. We had a fab dinner out last night (Persian - mmmmmm) but feeling a little ropey this morning. Thought I'd better make the most of ttc and get drunk whilst I can - so I did!!

BeckiF · 21/11/2004 12:41

No Rudy, I'm just fantasising and clinging to a very thin hope ... but as dp says, if it weren't for bad luck we'd have none at all, so I'm not expecting anything other than af or another 365 day cycle. That's just the way it is (as the song goes).

jeddah · 21/11/2004 13:27

moschops sorry about BFN!

Still might be too early??/

jeddah · 21/11/2004 14:46

beckif what cd are you on????

BeckiF · 21/11/2004 15:11

CD 21 now

jeddah · 21/11/2004 15:18

beckif, the shot down in temp.......may mean that you haven't ov yet????????? when do you normally ov?

BeckiF · 21/11/2004 15:42

I don't know, that's the problem! With PCSO, I had a 40 day cycle last month and previous to that a 365 day cycle. My OPK's showed ALMOST a positive on CD17 and I had clear stretchy cm as well as constant low down stabbing pains all that day. Also FF says that my peak most fertile thus far ... I'lljust have to wait and see.

bonkerz · 21/11/2004 15:54

Just thought id pass on a discount code for MEDISAVE.CO.UK. The code is : xmasoffers5 and can be used as many times as you wnat for a 5% discount on tests etc.

munnzieb · 21/11/2004 17:03

does any one know if you can OV without having AF?, one of my friends also TTC on cycle 3 has not had AF since coming off the pill, her cycles were very erratic b4 the pill (1yr +) and she had a cyst remove when a teenager, he's concerend with the lack of sympathy her DR is showing - Tending to brush it off. I said i'd ask you guys and see what we come up with. I thought u can OV without AF as you can see AF without OV? am I right there?

moschops · 21/11/2004 17:15

munnzie > not sure but i was under the impression you can ov without seeing AF. it's so confusing isn't it.

Becki > i sympathise with you on this whole OV mystery. because i'm still waiting for my body to settle down after coming off the pill there is absolutely no predictability to my cycles. it's one of the reasons i haven't used any kind of charting /opk yet. really hope you get lucky!!

Jeddah > thankyou! it probably was far too early to test. i'm only on day 30, i'm usually very strict with myself about testing but i just couldn't resist. i'm trying not to imagine symptoms!!

was reading on a site that implantation can happen between 6 and 14 dpo but usually happens between 8 and twelve dpo. it didn't say at what point the hcg started to be present and detectable though. sometimes i think i'd be better off not looking this stuff up!! i frustrate myself with knowledge but at the same time i have an insatiable curiosity about it all.

have convinced myself i am not pregnant.....it's the easiest way to get by each day.

munnzieb · 21/11/2004 17:19

how long have you been trying moschops?

munnzieb · 21/11/2004 17:26

is valley girl still trying does anyone know how she went with ther 21day tests?

moschops · 21/11/2004 17:33

came off pill in March with the intention of waiting three cycles before we started trying, partly because i was giving up smoking too and didn't want to start ttc till i was well and truly off the fags, but mainly because this is what the dr's suggest. it took 90 days for my period to arrive!!!!

started ttc at the beginning of july, basically my dr said to just keep going, i had blood tests a month ago which came back normal and once again my doc said to just keep trying.

my dr said if nothing has happened by March then to go back and she'll start investigating further, which i was quite surprised about. my cousin had to wait ages before they would even give her blood tests let alone anything else.

munnzieb · 21/11/2004 17:38

well fingers crossed for you then, as jeddah said it could just be too early for testing. try again in a week or so if AF has not started... as long as she doesn't show up theres a chance!

did u come off the fags completely now then?

My dr tested me as well after 6 months of TTC but my friend's won't until her AF returns (says can take up to a year) after a yr thou he will test her. and she's v v frustrated as it seems to be her pratice is not very forthcoming with helping her.

jeddah · 21/11/2004 20:21

Beckif, it must be so hard hard with PCSO!
sounds promising though!!!!!

Its all so frustrating with different GPs practising in different ways........basically we all have a right to ask and insist on basic fertility blood tests.......so girls don't stand for any of it.....this is your right!
