@Marvellouslymadmum it's worth a punt, pcos does come with weight issues
@Longbin I just had a failed cycle and I know I don't feel right still, hormones are all over the place and it'll be hard to predict what it all means for you, as well as your mind being desperate for it to mean something. Im desperate to be able to start again but equally my body is buggered! Hope it comes clear for you x

Longbin · 01/04/2022 21:37

@kerrym87 it’s horrible when you’re just waiting isn’t it! I’m not getting my hopes up too much considering it’s never ever happened naturally for me and the progesterone has gone down so much. I wish I understood more about what levels ‘should’ be but it took so long last time I pretty much gave up on tracking by the end of it!

kerrym87 · 02/04/2022 10:50

@Longbin I just want to get off this /rain cos I feel so shitty but at same time need to keep trying as i# managed to squash down the longing. Now I feel so sad and empty, I work on a baby unit and it's much harder now than it was before bit equally I feel a bit broken right now so my body and mind would not be conducive to a good stressful cycle 😪 we've got very little chance of natural connection due to low count (although other parameters now normal) and my pcos plus stressful job. Can't bring myself to focus on ttc naturally after it didn't work 2.5yrs don't see how it's gona work that way for us

Longbin · 02/04/2022 18:53

@kerrym87 you must be so strong to work in the baby unit as well. I really feel for you.

I know what you mean about trying naturally. It took us over 3 years and not had a single positive. I had a chat with a fertility doctor after the miscarriage who said my change of getting pregnant naturally is basically non existent 😩 tests always come back fine though, I wish I could just find out why it doesn’t happen for me

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2022 21:52

@Sunbird24 thank you, I think I'll ring next week and give it a try!

@Longbin I'm afraid I'm not much help with ivf related things but I didn't know you could test your progesterone on a Mira thought it was just Lh! That's interesting

@kerrym87 I don't know if it's pcos, endo, thyroid or just my age 🤣 but whatever it is I wish it would shove off!!

@Marvellouslymadmum they have 2 different sticks now. I think the progesterone ones are called confirm. I’ve only been using them this month so I’m not sure how reliable they are!

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2022 22:59

@Longbin ahh I see! I'll have to have another look into them, thank you

Hello donkey friends! I’ve seen my consultant for a follow up check this morning, had another scan and everything apparently looks ‘beautiful’. She’s given me prednisolone (25mg daily from BFP), folic acid (5mg daily) and cyclogest (twice daily) for my next attempt, which I’m still planning for June.

How is everyone else doing?

Somatronic · 07/04/2022 15:26

@Sunbird24 Great to hear your update! I'm glad that everything is looking good for your next try.

All good here - I'm on day 5 of stims. Have my first scan tomorrow morning (they didn't do a baseline scan, I think because they had scans from my treatment at another clinic and all looked OK). I'm starting the second injection tonight so hopefully I'll react OK to that. Today is my last day having to attend work and I'm working from home for the next 2 weeks so from a Covid point of view I'm very happy with that. My main gripe so far is having to cancel all my social activities to avoid Covid but hopefully it'll all be worth it in the end.

Motherofkittens28 · 07/04/2022 17:26

Hi everyone, just a quick update from me as i don't want to cause any upset. I safely delivered our 7lb 5oz baby boy Finn yesterday after an early induction due to being 40 now. We are both doing well.

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/04/2022 20:25

@Sunbird24 hi, glad everything seems good now! Did she say why she's given you prednisolone? This is what myself and my son get given for our asthma when it's bad 🤔

@Motherofkittens28 congratulations lovely that's amazing news, I'm so so pleased for you! Glad you and baby Finn are doing well ❤️

@Motherofkittens28 congratulations, that’s wonderful news! Flowers

@Marvellouslymadmum the steroids will suppress my immune response, in case that’s why my body is rejecting the babies. I have a few odd allergies and permanent hay fever symptoms, except the latter go away when I’m pregnant… As all my insides and blood tests look exactly like they’re supposed to (which the consultant said she’s not used to seeing) I think they’re potentially a bit stumped so trying this because why not, if that makes sense?

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/04/2022 21:32

@Sunbird24 ahh yes that makes sense let's hope it works for you!!

Somatronic · 08/04/2022 09:59

@Motherofkittens28 congratulations! Wonderful news!

Had my scan today. 11 follicles. I had hoped for more. Oh well.

Longbin · 08/04/2022 16:16

@Somatronic that sounds like a good number to me! I had 13 but had quite bad OHSS that I was hospitalised for, so sometimes less is more! I was told by my clinic that 9-12 is the ideal number.

I’m scheduled in for a laparoscopy soon. Has anyone had this for unexplained infertility, was anything found/treated?

becarefuloutthere · 08/04/2022 16:19

@Somatronic that's a good number! I had 10 at EC, 8 fertilised, 4 made it to day 5, 1 took and 3 got frozen.
@Longbin I had one before ivf but for suspected endo which was found and removed. Ivf then successful the next cycle. Good luck!

Longbin · 08/04/2022 16:29

Thanks @becarefuloutthere. I don’t have any symptoms on endo that I know of, but the consultant suspects it as I’ve never had a positive naturally and had 2 from IVF (one miscarriage) so it’s likely a tubal issue. All other tests have come back fine. I’m going for another round of IVF after!

Somatronic · 08/04/2022 16:32

Thanks @Longbin and @becarefuloutthere I guess I was just worried that if I only have 11 follicles it could be a much lower number of eggs that is actually collected on the day. No point fretting about it at this stage though! What will be will be.

becarefuloutthere · 08/04/2022 16:52

@Longbin silent endo is a thing too so it's good you're getting a lap. Just ensure it's a gynae with a specialist interest in endo doing it as it can be tricky to find if it's deep infiltrating. I never had a positive from natural, only ivf. Best of luck with the surgery and next ivf round!
@Somatronic unlikely, it'll be around that number. Not much less anyway. More isn't always better when it comes to eggs. It's about quality rather than quantity. When's EC?

Somatronic · 08/04/2022 18:00

@becarefuloutthere thanks so much for your advice! I feel much better now. I'm not sure when EC is. I have another scan on Monday which will be day 9 of stims so I presume later next week some time. Hopefully the clinic won't be closed too long for Easter as it'll probably be around Good Friday.

kerrym87 · 09/04/2022 09:55

@Sunbird24 that's great, I've got some inflammatory immune mediated illnesses so consultant gona put a shot of steroid in at implantation in case, it can help in some cases so glad you've got it. Have they suggested baby aspirin as some women have a minor clotting issue which doesn't cause them a problem but can in the placenta.
@Longbin the found endo on my left ovary and removed it, confirmed pcos and lasered ovaries to try stimulate healthy tissue. Confirmed my tubes were OK though, even if the rest was buggered 😂
@Motherofkittens28 that's great, gives us all some hope!
@Somatronic that a good number and it's not necessarily about the numbers, the quality comes into it too as I had 14 retrieved 12 mature but my egg quality was poor and only 1 made it to transfer due to my pcos and stress. Hard not to worry though I get it!

becarefuloutthere · 09/04/2022 16:25

@Somatronic good to hear. Hope the next scan goes ok and hopefully it won't be too much longer before EC! Best of luck 🤞🏾
@kerrym87 how are you getting on? Ok I hope.
@Motherofkittens28 so sorry with the delay, congratulations 🥳 my dd was similar weight, 7lbs7oz. Good to hear you're both well! Great name too 😍

Annny27 · 09/04/2022 22:24

@motherofkittens28 congratulations lovely 💙💙 always nice to hear 😊

@longbin I never had any real endo signs either but they found it quite bad on one ovary and a few other spots throughout. Endo on ovaries can affect egg quality that can be helped my removing it so deffo worth investigating

Longbin · 09/04/2022 22:48

Thanks everyone for the endo info. I’ve looked into it more and realised I do have a lot of the symptoms around bloating and digestive issues quite severely so could definitely be this.

Longbin · 10/04/2022 15:23

Sorry me again with yet another query that I’m hoping someone will be able to help with! I’ve tested progesterone on day 3 and it’s 15ug/ml. I don’t know why it’s so high but the doctor claims it being over 10 at day 21 means I’ve definitely ovulated before day 21. This isn’t necessarily true through is it if it’s already so high on day 3. I’m using a Mira to check this, could it be faulty? It’s been between 10-15 whenever I’ve measured it at any time of the month.
