OP posts:
glastochick · 07/01/2008 10:53

Thanks neveronamonday

I ordered a pack of 20. I think I OV on around CD16, but really not sure (am going by OV type pains and CM). Should I start using them around day 10 just in case I OV early and have just been getting confused?

becaroo · 07/01/2008 10:53

Jollybear...thank you,

I am ttc my second child (I have a gorgeous ds who is 4 and a half)

I am afraid I am very new to this, so I think I am on cycle day 25 (if you count it from lmp) and think I am due my AF on day 29 (unless the mc has messed my cycle up of coursae)

Hoping 2008 is better than last year!

becaroo · 07/01/2008 10:55

Are ov sticks any good? Have never used them before....but feel like time is not on my side anymore as I am 36 this year and dont want too much of gap between dc.

Becaroo I've added you onto the list. You can add how many cycles you have been TTC for if you like. Feel free to add on your m/c as some of the others have done if you feel comfortable with that, but I've left this up to you. Hope that's ok.

ClairePO · 07/01/2008 11:12

Morning all!!

Welcome becaroo and Sambrands so sorry to read of your mc becaroo. I use ov sticks, just cheapies I bought on ebay combined with charting my temp and it helps me, not that I am pregnant yet

CD27 - 12 dpo, I tested yesterday with FMU and it was a BFN I have very sore boobs (since 7dpo), especially the nipples but no bloody line on my test and I'm getting annoyed.

sambrads · 07/01/2008 11:50

hi ya thanks so much for letting me join my af is due 23rd of each month and i am on day 16 of cycle .
i am also trying for dc no 2 i have a ds son 15 months old .

i used the clearblue ovulation kit and had to send it back 3 times as the stupid tester was not working properly!!!
ment three months of not being able to test but blood tests proved i have not been ovulating thats why i am on clomid !!!

thanks everyone i am so knew to all this so please keep me right!!!

sambrads · 07/01/2008 11:54

clairepo i have had sore boobs every month since i have started trying and always a negitive !!!!!

i never had sore boobs before i had my son and when i feel pregnant wit him before i actually knew i was preggers i had really painful boobs actually thought i ahd something wrong with me !!!
then i realised my period was late and done the test!!!

i think if your boobs are sore before you miss a period its propably horomones!!!!!

hope this helps

ClairePO · 07/01/2008 11:57

yeah, thanks

ScaryHairy · 07/01/2008 12:24

Glastochick- it is best not to use first morning pee as LH builds up through the day apparently. I think the important thing is to be consistent and test at roughly the same time each day (I do it at 3pm). Starting to test at CD10 sounds like a good idea.

glastochick · 07/01/2008 12:50

Thanks scary. 3pm sounds like a good time to test. I can usually avoid meetings clashing with that time also (bloody work, getting in the way of everything )

Does everyone tell their DH/DP about the OPKs? Wondering how to broach this with DH? Past couple of months he's been keen as anything after OV yet something has always come up in the run up to OV (man flu, gigs, xmas parties etc). Just wondering if we'll have performance issues IYSWIM

fruitloop79 · 07/01/2008 13:14

afternoon ladies

Got my man back from skiing so lots of BD-ing to catch up with

Not sure I've got the correct CM yet. Thought I might try checking it (gross). But no harm in BD-ing early eh!

How is everyone today? all back in the swing of things after xms and new year?

I quite like being back to normality. I quite like routine and it means I'm not sitting on my a*se all day scoffing choccies . I'll hopefully shift this extra 10 lbs I've gained in no time.
Next time I gain weight I'm hoping it's for a good reason!

glastochick · 07/01/2008 13:22

lol at weight gain fruitloop. 10lbs is exactly what I've managed to gain also .

Wouldn't mind if it was because I had a little bean growing .

Ah well, back to weight watchers for me then

ScaryHairy · 07/01/2008 13:33

Glastochick - just try not to pee for a few hours before doing the OPK.
I would try to avoid telling the DH if I were you. Mine knows about all of my attempts to make ttc scientific, and it has affected him adversely - definitely it puts him under an unfair amount of pressure. I sort of had to tell him because he is often away and he obviously knows that when I ask him to arrange to be at home on particular days there is a reason for that! But I wish it did not need to be this way. It's not exactly romantic.

mibbes · 07/01/2008 13:54

Welcome becaroo and Sambrands sorry about mc becaroo - hope 2008 brings a sticker

Kate2179 I think the 2ww starts after you have ov'd so if that was cd25
then you'd be ready to test on approx cd39 which by my calcs is 17-19 Jan ..? How did you get to 22nd, do you have a long luteal phase ? Maybe best for
you to postpone smear for the following week when you'll know one way or the other for sure.

ClairePO maybe you tested too early - perhaps wait another 2 days...? The sore nipples sound like a good sign. Fingers crossed for you.

Glastochick I agree with ScaryHairy - I did not tell dp about opks - don't want him to know am obsessing or to put him under any pressure - there have been a lot of stories on here of men with stage fright ! I think it is better (for his ego if nothing else) if he thinks you just can't keep you hands off him !

No af or spotting here yet, and the distant cramps I got end last week have gone now. I hate this waiting bit

ClairePO · 07/01/2008 14:25

mibbes I think 22nd for Kate as that is what Fertility Friend has probably told her and when you first start charting with them they give you a test date of 18dpo until the software learns your cycle (two full cycles). Hope that makes sense.

What about you - how many dpo are you now?

I have to say re the not telling DH/DP thing I must be unusual because my OH gets really involved. Every day he asks me if my temp is down or up and when its OPK stick time he asks if I have been weeing on sticks, this month he gave his opinion on whether the line was darker than the control line.

sambrads · 07/01/2008 14:34

hello fruitloop +++++++++++

how is things wit ya ??
did you get my other thread i left you??

as for putting on weight i decided that new year and all i would cut all all the crap and lost 6 pound from thursday can you believe it!!!

i would happily put on 60 pounds if it resulted in a baby !!

i told my dh about opks and he told me that he thought he was under alot of pressure to perform on those days and he hated it.

men so dont understand it can realy take over your life!!!

fruitloop79 · 07/01/2008 14:53

I think it's best not to involve those poor men with the science if you can help it at all.

Sambrads nope, I'll have a look now
I'm happy now me and DP can get down to some serious BD-ing. After such a long cycle last time I sort of got lazy. Day 15 today so, if a normal cycle, OV could be any day now (fingers crossed)

sambrads · 07/01/2008 15:15

what are you doing on here when you should be bd-ing hahaha

im on day 16 of cycle fruiloop so hopefully we could find out good news together !!

how did you get on wit hospital???

mibbes · 07/01/2008 15:47

ClairePO aah right makes sense now ! So I guess cycle buddy Kate2179 would be safe enough testing around 17/18th then.

No idea how many dpo I am as didn't get a +ve line on opks... unless ov'd earlier than expected... cycles usually up to 35 days so started opks on cd15 or 16 I think. It is possible I missed it or that the surge just didn't record or that am not ovulating - still have no idea... also had no EWCM so suspect the latter. So 0dpo maybe ! Am hoping temps will tell me more next cycle .

Ooh Sambrads, we're almost on same days

I can't do anything till later cos I'm supposed to be working! and my 2.5 yr old son is around.

fruitloop79 · 07/01/2008 16:22

Ah, DP asleep on sofa while DS keeps saying "daddy watch! daddy, watch this Daddy!" My son's a nutcase. DP is hopefully conserving enough energy for tonight

sambrads · 07/01/2008 16:37

oh typical man has to get his rest hahaha!!

glastochick · 07/01/2008 17:29

at everyone keeping their OPKs from DHs / DPs. Makes me glad to know I'm not the only one to think keeping this from them is a good idea.

We're usually very open with each other, and I hate the idea of keeping anything from him, but I have been trying to hold back from wailing with frustration when AF arrives. He's not used to all the graphic details about what my body does throughout the month. I have found myself explaining about CM levels but only when he asked 'how' I knew certain times would be good for BD'ing.

I don't want to put too much pressure on him but I do want to feel that we've tried our best each month.

I didn't really want to go down the route of OPKs or temping but I'd rather be armed with as much information as possible than carry on 'guessing' each month only to be disappointed.

fruitloop, thanks for the warning about upset, confusion and impatient rage . As a little something to help us along, we've decided that each month we fail to get pregnant we're going to treat ourselves. This weekend we went to a really swanky restaurant, and if we haven't fallen by March we're going to book a last minute skiing trip (should be hilarious as I've never ski'd before and am guarateed to spend most of my time on my bum )

Right, off home to curl up by the fire
