9 months TTC and losing hope

Hi everyone

Anyone else nearing that year mark of TTC and just feeling down and wondering when/if it will happen?

DH and I had a private fertility appointment this month and AMH and SA all good - no obvious reason why we can't conceive. We have to keep trying until January when we hit that year mark and then have more investigations.

I KNOW it can take healthy couples up to a year but it's only 3 cycles away now and I feel like I'm at the stage I don't even hope for a BFP as I know it's not coming.

I just turned 29 and DH is 31, so I know we have some time but it doesn't help when you're wondering what's going wrong.

Currently CD1 so obviously feeling a bit meh anyway, so just looking to chat to others in the same boat as I feel alone and like everyone else gets pregnant quickly ☹️ also visiting in-laws this weekend and when we booked it at the start of the year I was hoping it would be a trip to give them some good news, so that's a bit heartbreaking too.

@Hopefullywaiting01234 I have no idea if they'd stay sore or if I'd notice a different kind of 'soreness' if I was pregnant as I've never been pregnant. Usually I get sore boobs and I'm like 'okay not our month then' but I guess I can't rule it out when it has started at ovulation!

Sorry to hear you had to hear another pregnancy announcement. How are you holding up? Great that they're going to write to gynaecology now, hopefully it's a speedy referral! I got my referral for my septate uterus in September and I still haven't heard anything about an appointment 🙄 although my fertility specialist was adamant it's not anything to worry about, hence not chasing it up. Otherwise I'd be like a dog with a bone!

I'd totally love it to be my month. What an amazing Christmas present that would be! At least to ease the blow if I get a BFN I have endless alcohol over the Christmas break to look forward to!

@BritInNZ fingers crossed for you this month. And congrats on the windows - that does sound a bit behind the times!

I’m going for bloods tomorrow. CD1 today.

BritInNZ · 24/11/2021 18:44

@FlyOnTheWall89 so sorry AF arrived for you 😔 how are you holding out? Hope the bloods go well too x

Ladies that have started using COQ10, how are you getting on?

I've had the most bizarre side effect - really sensitive nipples! Taking COQ10 is the only thing that has changed for me this month and it started before ovulation so it's definitely not pregnancy. It's very weird and quite uncomfortable 😂

OP posts:
FlyOnTheWall89 · 25/11/2021 20:55

@BritInNZ I didn’t feel any differences at all so that is strange! How many DPO are you now?

I had my bloods done today - results on Tuesday.

Has anyone used Soy Iso before? It is dumbed the natural Clomid….I must remember to actually temp this month so I can see if I detect a temp rise. If it does rise, does that definitely mean an egg has been released? X

BritInNZ · 25/11/2021 21:00

@FlyOnTheWall89 I'm only 3dpo so early days still 😊

Fingers crossed your results are all good! What CD did you have the tests on?

I haven't used soy iso before. I read it's more for people who have problems with ovulation and that's definitely not a problem for me.

Yes if you get a dramatic temp rise it means you have ovulated. Here's mine - very clear ovulation day 😊 temp was really high today but was a warm night have I had the luxury of an extra half an hour sleep in 😂 what's your chart looking like?

FlyOnTheWall89 · 25/11/2021 21:12

@BritInNZ

I had my tests on CD2, but they didn’t ask me to come in for a specific CD, so no clue what they’ll be able to tell from the tests.
On my piece of paper, I can see they are testing for LH & FSH, prolactin, Thyroid function, hep C antibody, hep B, HIV, renal profile, TES and sex hormone binding globulin. It says progesterone not applicable presumably because I would need that just after I ovulate.

I temped a few years ago to prevent and I temped in February before we even started trying and I got confirmation of ovulation. I will start again tomorrow and try to get back into the swing of it. Your chart is incredible clear. X

BritInNZ · 27/11/2021 18:51

@FlyOnTheWall89 let us know how the results go 😊 I only had CD21 tests so can't comment on the one you just had!

How's the temping going this weekend?

How's everyone's weekend going? Got just got another baby bomb and it knocked me 😢 my husband makes a joke out of it but he doesn't realise how much it upsets me.

@BritInNZ @Tinkerbell098 your dogs are so sweet! Aren’t they the best!

Sorry for the radio silence all, I hope you’re all ok and having good weekends. I’ve had a mare of a week, my dad is really sick and my dog has a big op on Monday and we had some potentially bad TTC news (OH related) they’re retesting. So I’ve been offline.

I tried to catch up and @BritInNZ sorry about the baby bomb and everyone else hope you’re feeling alright about everything x

Pineappletarts · 27/11/2021 20:09

Hi folks, been following this thread recently and lurking. 10/11 months into TTC#2 here and have almost reached the point of giving up. Both had initial tests and all looks fine so probably age (39) which for some reason feels gutting and really personal. I hope that all of you get your BFPs really soon, fingers crossed for all of us xx

FlyOnTheWall89 · 27/11/2021 20:19

@BritInNZ oh I’m sorry to hear that! It is really hard and you have to smile and be happy but inside you just feel like withering away and crying. It is tough.

I haven’t started - must get it out the cupboard. Manic week. I’m getting to the point where I just can’t see it happening. I can’t envisage it and I can’t imagine opening one of those bloody tests and seeing 2 lines.

@Carla2601 sorry to hear that. Hope the retest comes back better.

Welcome @Pineappletarts x

BritInNZ · 27/11/2021 20:37

@Carla2601 so sorry to hear that, don't blame you for taking a break from MN. Hopefully it was just due to timing as I know with men it can change all the time? Fingers crossed for you both.

@Pineappletarts welcome - sorry you're part of this lame club. Fingers crossed you get that BFP soon. Did it take long with #1?

@FlyOnTheWall89 I feel EXACTLY the same. I'm only 5DPO and already convinced myself it's not our month. I can't imagine any month being our month. When those horrible TTC videos come up on insta and show BFP on a pregnancy test, I'm like OH that's what it's meant to look like! Can't even imagine how I'd feel if I finally got a BFP 😭

@BritInNZ thanks - the only ‘good’ bit is we haven’t even bothered trying this month, still DTD but no tracking, no fertile days nothing just chilled normal life and always wondered why people do that but actually did reduce the stress a bit. Suspect I’m ovulating around today so I’m a touch behind you guys, as always I’ll have everything crossed for all of you. I’ll keep you posted on his results but won’t be for a couple of weeks yet.

Welcome @Pineappletarts - not a nice place to end up but a lovely supportive group

Carla2601 · 27/11/2021 21:08

@FlyOnTheWall89 sorry missed your message, thanks and me - if not I fear it may be the end of the road, although in a weird sort of way at least we’d know I guess and that’s something. I’ll let you all know if it is that and I’ll still be cheering you all on!

Pineappletarts · 27/11/2021 21:21

Thank you for all the lovely welcomes already and sorry to read about your v tough week, sending positive vibes to you @carla2601
@BritInNZ To be fair with our first it did happen relatively quickly and I know that's a huge blessing but not so lucky this time I guess.
Great to read about the lovely person who got a BFP @after 21months, that's properly heartwarming ❤️

Hopefullywaiting01234 · 28/11/2021 00:22

@BritInNZ I know what - should the boobs remain sore if pregnant or should they ease off.. who knows I guess?

I can’t even go on social media any longer with the constant pregnancy announcements!

What’s a septate uterus - sorry if that’s ignorant but I’ve not heard of it before. I suffer from bad medical anxiety which doesn’t help as even though I’m glad to be referred I am terrified of scans, bloods etc

BritInNZ · 28/11/2021 00:38

@Hopefullywaiting01234 I have no idea! Hopefully I will find out one day...

I know, part of me wants to switch it all off but then I also don't want people to know I'm having a shit time. Plus it's the main way I stay in touch with friends and family in the UK so I kinda rely on social media 😔

It's basically a misshapen uterus - more of a love heart shape than an inverted triangle. Apparently it shouldn't affect conception but a higher chance of miscarriage - although I haven't even got that far yet!

I used to be really bad with blood tests too. I used to lose sleep thinking about it and my partner had to promise me gifts and stuff to get me to go. I've had that many now I'm totally used to it and it doesn't phase me. I think if we're on this journey and it ends in IVF we'll all have to get used to being prodded and poked unfortunately!

OP posts:
tryingforbabyh · 28/11/2021 10:31

I have the same issue with my uterus - it's bicornuate which apparently means a heart shape and it's retroverted. I have been told the same as you that it shouldn't affect conception but a year down the line...
Got my static face today and managed to DTD yday and today plus Tuesday night but think that's too far back). Won't manage it tomorrow so will have to keep my fingers crossed!

Hopefullywaiting01234 · 28/11/2021 11:23

@BritInNZ I don’t have any issues with getting the bloods taken or being examined etc it’s the anxiety that they will find something wrong so to speak. It’s not rational at all, I’ve had therapy for it but this ttc doesn’t help it at all.

Another celeb bump this morning 🙄 seems people just need to look at each other.

I am CD 7 so going to start tomorrow and try the sperm meets egg plan (or at least try to)

BritInNZ · 28/11/2021 16:54

@tryingforbabyh I'm still waiting to see a gynaecologist about mine to get official diagnosis. My ultrasound report septate uterus mild variant, so I'm expecting it's not that bad? I'm not convinced it's not affecting conception though!

OP posts:
BritInNZ · 28/11/2021 16:56

@Hopefullywaiting01234 ah I see! Yes I can't help with that because I'm a knowledge is power kinda gal 😂

I just saw that 😩 I don't understand how these people get pregnant so quickly?! I'd kill to have one of those quick pregnancies and you're thoroughly excited. If I got pregnant now I don't feel like I'd fully enjoy the excitement.

Good luck for fertile week! My AF is due next Sunday... 😬 got a big day of drinking Saturday too!

Just catching up after a week or so. On train back to reality after an amaaaazing weekend on York, had a proper foodie weekend, spent so much eating out but it was all divine. Love York this time of year.

@FlyOnTheWall89 sorry AF arrived! CD2 is perfect for LH/FSH, the others can be done any day. Progesterone you'll want to go mid luteal phase. Good luck.

Welcome @pineappletarts! Hope you'll add to our chances of getting a BFP on this thread soon. Good luck!

@BritInNZ you know, I think I have sorer boobs this month and I started taking coq10 at start of cycle, so maybe there's something in this!

I'm having a confusing cycle. I usually ovulate cd18/19. Taking all the ISWTE supplements this month. Had a temp shift on CD14 which took me by surprise, but also my peak static smiley on CBAD on 14. Then had slight dip and slight rise again on CD16 and slightly raised temps since (definitely higher than last week but a good 0.3 degrees lower than usual LP temps). FertilityFriend said CD14 for ovulation which is weirdly early for me, but now has changed it to CD16. I think I have ovulated but these medium temps are throwing me off a bit. I hate not knowing Odate really precisely because it makes the whole should I test/wait stuff so much harder. Anyway, if I trust FF and my OPKs I am currently 4DPO and due AF somewhere between 2nd - 5th Dec. I'll be on a girls weekend and like you guys I have little faith it will have worked (at this stage hard to imagine) so I just hope if it isn't our month then at least AF arrives in time for me to drink guilt free! This cycle might be our last chance for 2 months (various reasons) so I do feel some added desire/pressure this month. We didn't do that well timing sex tbh with my early ovulation but we did manage at least 1 'good' fertile day.

@BritinNZ when are you due on this cycle, will you be testing?

Tinkerbell098 · 29/11/2021 11:43

Hi girls, been a bit quiet as had a busy couple of days. Hope you all enjoyed the snow. I'm CD11 today so heading into FW now. Haven't had a flashing or static smiley yet. I've run out of my usual supplements and although I placed an order last Monday, I still haven't received these so have had to skip a few days, so not ideal.
I had a blood test done last week as I had abnormal prolactin levels in my Day21 test, so they've repeated this. It's come back normal, so not sure how levels can just fluctuate so much unless the previous result was an error (which makes me doubt the rest of the results from that sample).

Hopefullywaiting01234 · 29/11/2021 12:11

@Tinkerbell098 - I had to have my day 21 repeated. The first month he done them on day 21 but I had said my period is usually before day 28, it came back inconclusive for ovulation so I booked it again and I went on day 20 I think it was this time as the period before had arrived on day 27 and it came back normal

I am not sure if they tested my prolactin though

BritInNZ · 29/11/2021 17:33

@Aubyone that's very unusual! Not sure what to make of that. Do you have a pic of your chart? I stop tracking BBT a few days after ovulation and it's so nice not hearing the bleeping first thing in the morning 😂

Sorry this is your last try for a couple of months. Although it will be nice not to have it on your mind and have a break!

I'm due AF on Sunday or Monday, but last months really long cycle has thrown me a bit so who knows! I don't tend to test unless I'm late, so at this stage just waiting for AF. To be honest, I'm just on the countdown for our fertility appointment in January as I really can't see this happening after so long trying 😔
