Good plan @hoola23! How are you feeling? xx

@CShandy01 think I'll officially be in the 2WW tomorrow! What CD are you? Xx

plantbasedlondoner · 24/09/2021 08:56

@CShandy01 ah that's really helpful to know, yes I was thinking about testing at 10am and then at 4pm as I heard that on a podcast about how to use OPKs by a gynaecologist/ fertility doctor and it was so helpful.

Drill sergeant! Haha ... yes I am hoping I don't become that either! I do think EWCM is supposed to be the most accurate way of predicting ovulation and I like how intuitive it is as opposed to all the peeing on sticks, BBT tracking etc :)

plantbasedlondoner · 24/09/2021 09:00

@hoola23 @newtolineofduty It's so annoying when EWCM comes and goes - happens to me like that! It makes it really hard to plan, especially when you get a lot on one day and then the next day it's gone and then back again two days later. It seems really positive that you get it for a while though @hoola23

newtolineofduty · 24/09/2021 09:08

I've just been reading an article on how misleading OPKs can be given the variation in how soon after you ovulate following an LH surge! I think next cycle I'm going to test twice a day! X

Peauela · 24/09/2021 09:57

Hey all !

I am new here and excited to be joining you in the TTC journey! :)

I heard testing twice a day on is ideal as you can have a faint line in the morning but a spike in the evening. I am testing once a day now but once the line starts getting darker I will test twice a day just to see!

CShandy01 · 24/09/2021 10:55

Yeah I used to test twice a day and sometimes I actually found that I peaked in the morning one cycle and it was faint the same evening, but then other cycles I peaked in the evening and it was faint in the morning!! Absolutely nightmare!

So @newtolineofduty I'm on CD 16 at the moment and I had a bit of EWCM yesterday but we were both shattered. So I'm hoping we've DTD enough (Monday and Tuesday when EWCM was super present and on Sunday when it strayed). Really really wish we had DTD yesterday though as I have just creamy CM today. Mind you my cervix seems to have disappeared it's so high 😂😂

hoola23 · 24/09/2021 11:52

@newtolineofduty doing ok over here. Just waiting, as this is all we seem to do every month when TTC! High again on cbfm not tested on cheaps today yet. Loads of ewcm again! What was the article you read?

@plantbasedlondoner I thought having a good and long amount of ewcm would be a good sign too but here I am month 14 still TTC!

@CShandy01 yeah I think mine starts off more cloudy, then clear and then basically just watery but loads, defo the feeling you might have pissed yourself🤣🤣🤣

newtolineofduty · 24/09/2021 13:37

@CShandy01 I was kind of disappointed to see more EWCM today as I was hoping that was me done! 😂 x I think if you did it on both the days you had the most mucus then you'll have given it a really good shot! Maybe try tonight just to book it in!? I was chatting to my SIL whose fertility consultant said that every other day is best to give the sperm chance to build up!!!

@hoola23 your EWCM sounds great! I'd go by that and the CB monitor and ditch the cheapies! X

CShandy01 · 24/09/2021 14:39

@newtolineofduty yeah I think I'm going to encourage DH to DTD tonight just to cover our bases. Although cervix seems to have shut up shop and feels very very swollen at the moment. And back down to being low. So it's gone from lost to definitely found 😂😂 and sorry for the TMI for still got stretchy snot like CM in dribs and drabs as well. Hate the stuff mostly because it gives me false hope that maybe, just maybe, I can DTD again and make some tint happen. Our bodies love to mess with us!

newtolineofduty · 24/09/2021 14:52

@CShandy01 has it felt better not doing the OPKs? Do you think you've done it more/anything differently as a result? X

hoola23 · 24/09/2021 14:57

@newtolineofduty thanks will take a read

Did a cheaply and it's going darker! Yay! Will DTD every night now as I think ovulation will prob be in the next 3 days

CShandy01 · 24/09/2021 15:33

@hoola23 woop woop that's good news! So if it does come what day would you ovulate in your cycle?

@newtolineofduty I would say we have DEFFO DTD more than we did using the OPK's. Mostly because you don't really have a clue the exact time and say of ovulation with just reading CM, so we've just been doing it as much as possible to cover ourselves. So like for example, last cycle I got a positive on day 15, so we DTD say 12, 13 and then 15, 16. The time before, it was like day 11, then positive on day 13 so DTD then and day 14. Both times I think I've missed ovulation by a day. I've also found that it's been less of "right got to do it tonight" and more of cuddling and spending time together, which has been lovely. Although saying that I will certainly be encouraging DH for some action this evening!!

Equally though I am concerned that we haven't done it enough, and if AF shows up, it may not have done had we used OPK's. So I guess the guilt will be there. Guess it's a no win scenario though as I was always gutted when AF showed up using the OPK's and thought I hadn't timed it right.

hoola23 · 24/09/2021 17:07

@CShandy01 I'm gonna guess maybe cd16 which is 4-5 days later than usual!

CShandy01 · 24/09/2021 17:09

@hoola23 that was the same with me last time. I got a positive on CD 15 but I reckon I ovulated on day 17, and normally it's day 12-15 for me. Think the stress of everything last month didn't help at all! X

newtolineofduty · 24/09/2021 17:10

@CShandy01 I think the most important thing hun is that it's felt less stressful! X

Ellie876 · 24/09/2021 17:13

Hello,
I just wanted some advice or to know that I’m not the only one out there. Me and my partner have been trying since April but I have only been tracking ovulation for 4 months now. I know it’s quite early but it’s becoming so draining. I feel like there is something wrong and constantly feel deflated.

Last month, after having many symptoms, I thought I was pregnant ( I had sore boobs, nausea, headaches and twinges) but turns out I wasn’t and they were all ovulation symptoms.

Also, my ovulation tracking is very strange! Last month, I had low readings for a while and then I had a peak for one day and then it dropped to low again the next. This month, my LH numbers rose but only got to 0.46 (easy@home tests) and then dropped again so I’m not even sure I ovulated. I’m very regular with my periods but they are quite light and only last around 2 days and then one day of spotting.

Anyone have any tips or have experienced anything like this?

Sending baby dust to you all!

CShandy01 · 24/09/2021 17:14

@newtolineofduty absolutely chick. Well mind you last month just sucked generally - not only the trouble TTC, but my grandad was told he was terminally ill, a friend suddenly passed away, and then I did my back in....plus the toilet training WHICH WAS THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. 😂😂

Although I think DH is absolutely shattered of DTD so he's quite hesitant at the moment. Maybe I can persuade him with some booze tonight!!

newtolineofduty · 24/09/2021 17:38

Aww @CShandy01 that's so much to deal with all at once! My DP is the same-I get abit (privately!) frustrated with him lol! X

CShandy01 · 24/09/2021 17:45

@Ellie876 so we've been TTC since May I think? This is our 4th cycle, so I'm sort of the same as you 🙂 I used OPK's with DD and got pregnant pretty much straight away. This time round, not so lucky. I was using clear blue that time and then this time too, but for only 2 out of our 4 cycles. I found that I was symptom spotting all the time and writing down numbers left, right and centre. I've taken a different approach this month and I'm mainly looking at CM and trying to DTD every other day (or whenever we feel like it).

I was also exactly the same as you - first 2 cycles of trying this time round I was certain I was pregnant. I had ovulated and then had every "symptom" you can think gods - sore boobs (leaking boobs at one point!), tingly nipples like when I used to breastfeed DD, cramps, metallic taste in month, frequent urination...both times AF came. Then last month no symptoms and AF still came! I'm trying to relax about it now, focus on getting the most fertile days and generally try and have fun with the whole process. It's hard though, I feel your pain!

hoola23 · 24/09/2021 17:58

@Ellie876 hey, we are all in the same boat hun so don't worry yourself esp only after a few months. Try to let go of expecting it to happen within the first 6-12 months as it's normal for things to take a whole year if you're under 35. I conceived on cycle 12 but it was a chemical so I'm back at it again. And I felt exactly the same, diagnosed myself with infertility and everything 🤣 i did everything right and it just didn't happen!

My only advice os to try and not let it take over you becuase it's so easy to let it! Opk can go from high straight to low I think and your periods sound the same as mine. I have two days of period bleeding then that's pretty much it apart from spotting. Try DTD the two days before you ovulate so when you start to see your opk rising, get going!!

newtolineofduty · 24/09/2021 18:32

Welcome @Ellie876 x yes absolutely feel your pain too! If you're cycles are irregular I would ignore OPKs and just DTD every other day. You could also consider temping to find out when you actually ovulate to see if there are any patterns.

I'm very similar to @CShandy01. Conceived DD very easily three years ago so this is really my first experience of 'trying' and I'm hating it! We're just in the fertile week on 5th month of trying and I always feel a huge sense of relief when it's over! Two out of my four cycles I've also been convinced I was pregnant so my new pledge is to wait for AF rather than do a test and not to google potential symptoms as I've also had every symptom in the book and it's always just pms! Xx

Ellie876 · 24/09/2021 22:56

Thank you @newtolineofduty @hoola23 @CShandy01!

Yes, it’s just so draining! To be honest I’m not out of this month’s cycle yet as I’m only 10dpo (this is roughly right coming from my highest LH level) but I got a BFN this morning and I don’t feel any different this month, but we shall we when AF turns up next week.

Yes, I’ve tried tracking CM but I’ve had quite a lot since ovulation (tmi sorry!) and I’m not sure that always happens. It’s also been the same sort of time everyday which has been weird.

I think we’re going to DTD every other day on the next cycle and then when I start getting a rise try and DTD for everyday (my poor partner!😂).

Thanks for all the advise! Hopefully this all pays off for us and we have Christmas miracles this year x

CShandy01 · 25/09/2021 08:03

Morning everyone! How are we all doing today? What day cycles are we all on? I THINK I may be around 4dpo perhaps?? Just going off that EWCM stopped on Wednesday so I'm assuming I ovulated Tuesday. Already doing the pessimistic thing and counting myself out - cervix feels like it always does in this TWW since TTC. Obviously trying not to symptom spot BUT IT IS SO BLOODY HARD!!

hoola23 · 25/09/2021 09:09

@CShandy01 you've got to have that positive energy hun! To be fair the month I got pregnant there was no change to my cervix position at all until I was past AF being late then it went really soft so I think that's not the best indication until you get a BFP, same with CM it only really became different after AF was due. You've done everything you can this month to get that BFP!!

CD13 for me, still highs on the monitor and cheap ones are still the same, I actually think I've got another week before ovulation!
