Hello,
I couldn't see a thread for ladies trying for baby no 2, so I thought I'd start one.
I'm nearing the end of cycle 3, 12DPO today, AF due on Wednesday. Having all sorts of symptoms that I don't usually get.
My first LO turned 2 a couple of months ago.
Look forward to hearing others' stories 😊

Hello all! Well AF came today which is a relief because I just want to get on with cycle 2! That makes my July cycle 26 days so I definitely need to start taking ov tests earlier this month, probably from CD7.

Good luck to you this month @MamaSJ15! It only needs once to make a baby.

@SLT90 so lovely when TTC brings you closer, I definitely feel that with DH. It's like a shared secret plan. Plus also lots of sex!

@coles85 last time I had dinner with my sister at 5+6 and cracked and told her, and then obviously had to tell the rest of close family. I will probably try and wait til after a (private) 8-week scan when I'm pregnant a second time, but some of my friends will be told sooner as they know we are TTC, will ask and I don't mind them knowing. I've supported them through early losses and know they'd do the same, when I wouldn't necessarily want my lovely but gossipy family to know.

My SIL was pregnant at Christmas and would have some wine in her glass but just never drank it and no one twigged. I think generally people pay less attention than we think!

MamaSJ15 · 02/08/2021 13:29

Sorry to hear that AF arrived @darcey87 but a fresh cycle to try again 😊

Thank you, the relaxed approach has definitely made me feel less stressed/worked up, which I'm hoping will have made an impact on the whole TTC business! Definitely going to continue like this if it's not happened this cycle.

I told most people really early with pregnancy #1. I feel that if something were to happen, I'd prefer the have the support of those around me. I think I'd probably tell a select few people early on again next time round.

@darcey87 good to know where you stand with the cycle! 26 days is great, not too long to wait too!

First time round we told a select few from my family early because we had a big family occasion that I wouldn't have been able to avoid drinking at without rousing suspicion. It made it easier when they could hand me my "gin and tonic" without anyone realising it was just tonic. Although a drunk family friend did comment (when my sister removed a shot from my hand that said friend had handed me) that it was probably best I didn't do the shot because I'd had enough already and was too drunk Grin she was shocked to later find out I was stone cold sober haha!

This time I'll be waiting til 12 weeks once I've had my scan because I don't have any major occasions coming up. I feel like, if the worst happened I'd rather deal with it in private.

MamaSJ15 · 02/08/2021 15:49

@coles85 It's funny isn't it, if people think you're drinking, they just assume you're drunk! I say that like I know. I don't drink anyway so it would make no different to me haha.

Yeah that's fair enough, we all have our own views and reasons for these things.

So I assumed I had ovulated a couple of days ago, but today I'm getting a few little twinges that would feel like ovulation, so honestly, no idea! But I'm just gonna go with the flow. Maybe see how we feel tonight and DTD one more time for luck :D I could have it all wrong and feel nothing when I'm actually ovulating! Nothing wrong with a bit of a fun either way haha.

@MamaSJ15 it's so interesting isn't it, trying to read what your body is telling you. I was the same this month, thought I had ovulated and then had symptoms a couple of days later and was like "oh...maybe it's now". If you can manage it you should try and DTD just in case!

I took one of the CB digital number of weeks tests today and it says 3+ but was only at 1-2 weeks just over a week ago, so I'm keen to trace back and find out when I ovulated - was it in line with the app or when I thought I felt it.

MamaSJ15 · 02/08/2021 20:16

@coles85 I know, our bodies are hard to read sometimes! I think we will 😊 I'm not even mentioning it to DH, I think sometimes if he knows it's around ovulation, it's more pressure! He knows roughly when my fertile period is but it's easier not to say about possible ovulation today, will probably make it better!

Ahh yeah it would be interesting to know wouldn't it!

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all good.

@coles85 I hope your LO is feeling better?

Well, I said I wasn't going to use opks....but I caved. The day before y'day, I had signs of ov but it was way too early compared to the last few months, but I did one anyway and it showed that I was near peak! did 2 more abit later just to make sure it wasn't a dud, and the line got darker each time!

We had dtd the day before and on the same day I tested before I knew I was near ovualtion, so I feel ok about timings etc. I just don't know what is going on with my cycle really!

Did anyone else find that their cycles were abit all over the place post birth? or if still bf?

coles85 · 03/08/2021 13:41

@ItsSunnyOutside much better, thank you!!

I went straight back on the pill after having my DC but breastfed until DC was 2, then came off the pill and since then my cycle was allllll over the place.

Sounds so promising though that you caught your peak! Instinct must have made you check. Fingers crossed for you this month!

Laureatus · 03/08/2021 14:17

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing ok. I'm starting to worry a bit about my cycle, prob because I turned 35 this year and it seems quite irregular although I've been off the pill since February, so I thought it would sort itself out by now. This month was our first cycle TTC again. I mentioned previously, last time I conceived on our third cycle after going off the pill (first time off it in about 17 years). Can anyone share anything to reassure me or do you think this pattern from my Flo app look weird and I should speak to my GP just in case? I know they won't really do anything until we've been ttc for 6m, but I'm desperate not to wait too long as it was my husband who wanted to wait all this time already 🤣 (we've been together since we were 18 so the fact we only had our first when I was 32 I'm quite annoyed about).

TTC #2
coles85 · 03/08/2021 14:32

@Laureatus I obviously have zero medical background on this, but just to reassure you from a personal experience perspective - I was exactly the same. On the pill since I was 18, came off to TTC DC1 in my 30s. Back on the pill right away and came off in March this year and my cycles were 28/37/41 so all over the place. I think it's quite normal and shouldn't hinder you falling pregnant other than it being more difficult to pinpoint your fertile period.

However it probably wouldn't hurt to speak to your Dr if it'd give you peace of mind.

But if you're looking for reassurance that it's not anything to worry about, then I'd say it's totally normal!

MamaSJ15 · 03/08/2021 15:01

@ItsSunnyOutside it's good that you seemed to have caught your peak!
I went back on to the pill after having #1 and never bf'd so I can't really comment on that side of things I'm afraid.

@Laureatus I would say it looks pretty normal, as there isn't a huge fluctuation in days (less than a week either way). I don't have any personal experience to give but if it was me, I wouldn't be too worried about it :)
I do find it interesting though that a few of us were on the pill for a long time and conceived pretty quickly the first time (3rd cycle after being on pill for 11/12 yrs), and second time round seems to be a little longer (for me anyway).

OP posts:
darcey87 · 03/08/2021 15:10

@ItsSunnyOutside I almost always ovulate earlier than the apps think, I start getting ov/high fertility symptoms almost from the end of my period so it's not out of the ordinary to experience that. Good you caught it without even knowing! Fingers crossed for you this month.

@Laureatus I don't have any experience coming off the pill but my cycles do seem to vary between 25 and 28 days naturally and when I've mentioned this to GPs, midwives etc they seem to consider that variation normal and would still consider my cycles to be 'regular'. If you disregard the first couple of post-pull cycles yours are 28-32 which isn't a huge range. I don't think your GP would think it's an issue.

How are you feeling @coles85? Sorry if I've missed this but do you tend to have first trimester symptoms?

Laureatus · 03/08/2021 15:39

Thanks so much everyone, it really is just reassurance I'm after as I know I'm being a bit neurotic - prob because AF finally showed up today! Even the app still describes my cycle as regular to be fair; I just need to distress as of course panicking does not help TTC!

That is interesting about the initial easy conception - dam it, I said for months I didn't want to go back in the pill after I ran out because I didn't want to mess up my cycle. Maybe I should have gone back on it!! Haha.x

MamaSJ15 · 03/08/2021 19:31

@Laureatus well I was back on the pill and started TTC as soon as I came off it, I'm now in cycle 4, which, of course isn't a long time, but it's longer than it took for #1.

How are we all feeling tonight?

OP posts:
coles85 · 03/08/2021 20:35

Thanks @darcey87 , feeling fine! Pretty normal and no symptoms so far other than a bit tired...but that could also be down to the poorly toddler and 5:30am wake ups! I had some slight nausea last time round but nothing major, so hoping for the same this time.

MamaSJ15 · 03/08/2021 21:01

@coles85 that's really good that you didn't get many symptoms last time. I was dreading the thought of morning sickness because I have a bit of a fear of being sick (it actually put me off trying for a while 😂) but I only felt a bit nauseous on and off so I was really lucky too 😊

Hi there, sorry to jump on bored I hope you don't mind.

So I was wondering what you ladies think of this.

We did the deed last week - we use the pull out method but he thinks he did half of it before pulling out of that makes sense. And this was right around my ovulation.

Anyway yesterday and today my pelvis area has felt so tender and just not right, doesn't feel like a water infection or anything.
Just feels different.

I really want another baby so I don't know if my mind if okey tricks on me but Iv told myself it's implantation pains.
It's killing me.
What are you ladies take on it?

MamaSJ15 · 04/08/2021 08:16

Hello @Sunshinelollypops8
It's really hard to say, if it's only been a week, implantation is unlikely at this point but every body is different, and it's not impossible, as it completely depends on when you ovulated.
For example, last cycle, I had every early pregnancy symptom you could possibly think of, and I wasn't pregnant, so in that scenario, I would say it was mostly in my mind, willing it to happen!
I'm assuming if you're using the pull out method that your not actively TTC?

Hi Ladies, Can I Join, new to here TTC number 2 on to cycle 2. we were lucky enough to fall pregnant with our first on first month he is now 17 months. I think I had a chemical last month as tested positive and then got my period 5 days later :( anyways just wanted to say hi and hopefully we all get BFP soon.

SLT90 · 04/08/2021 12:52

@ItsSunnyOutside sounds like it was wise to use the opks then! Hopefully you've timed it well 🤞🤞 my cycles are a bit all over the place at the moment...I went back on the pill when DS was about 8 weeks and then came off it again at the start of Jan. I've just had 4 cycles since then as it took 2 months for my period to come back. My cycles have been 42, 38, 32 and 34. I was a little surprised at the 34 as I thought I was returning to my pre baby cycles of around 29 days 🤷‍♀️ this is why I'm using opks this time!!!!

Welcome @EJLM! Sorry to hear about the possible chemical ❤ wishing you lots of luck for this cycle!!

MamaSJ15 · 04/08/2021 13:30

Hello @EJLM and welcome 😊 how are you feeling? Sorry to hear about the chemical, but hope it doesn't take too long for you!

I'm not exactly sure when I ovulated, could have been 4 days ago, could have been 2, had some twingy feelings on both days! So I'm either 2 or 4 dpo at the moment, but AF due in 8 days, which could potentially mean a shorter luteal phase again, fingers crossed it doesn't effect the possibility of implantation!

If you don't mind me asking, how old is everyone here? I'm 30, and my DD is 2 😊

@MamaSJ15 wishing you luck! Hope the TWW flies by for you.

I'm 31 and my DS is 16 months. He was due on my 30th birthday but luckily went 10 days over 😆

@SLT90 thank you lots of luck to you also :) x

@MamaSJ15 thank you and I am 28 nearly 29 and my LB is 17 months. i wanted to make sure there was at least 2 years between them.

MamaSJ15 · 04/08/2021 19:33

@SLT90 thank you, aw really? Lovely 30th birthday present!

@EJLM yeah I think a two year age gap is good. I personally had a bad experience with the birth of my LO so was adamant for a long time I wasn't having any more! But as time has passed its made me realise she needs a sibling!
