Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

Hi @glasspaw welcome!

I think there is one thing we can all agree on. Our Sex Ed was really good at teaching how to not get pregnant, so much so that when it comes to doing the opposite, we are totally in the dark!

GingerTea333 · 04/06/2021 16:57

@Peachycream great experiment! The strips are great at showing you the progression, but you’re right, you only know you’ve hit your peak once your over it and it’s dropping back down again. So until that happens it might just show you as high. It’s definitely got better at predicting for me - now it’s pretty much bang on for getting my ovulation and my period date right but it’s taken a couple of months

Welcome @glasspaw, good luck with your tww! I know what you mean about the learning, I feel like I could take a degree in what I now know about my body!

HRP1990 · 04/06/2021 16:59

Hey @glasspaw welcome! I’m on CD21 (2DPO) so only a day ahead of you!

We’ve all said the same, I can’t believe what I’ve been learning the past month 😂

ConfusedNewbie21 · 04/06/2021 16:59

@ConfusedNewbie21

Hi all.. I am looking for opinions on this test. I am very unsure wether it is a faint positive or I am going crazy.

Also... very nervous to be posting on here. Hi! Blush

oh gosh how embarrassing..,. does anyone know how to add a photo? do I need the app?
KayL1988 · 04/06/2021 17:01

Hi @glasspaw welcome!! I've found this thread really comforting too - can't wait to follow your journey! At least you had the thought process to track earlier - wish I'd done the same!! Did you come off long term contraception?

Welcome @ConfusedNewbie21 - hopefully we are not too scary to talk to - we are all confused newbies trying to help each other through! Feel free to post your test!

KayL1988 · 04/06/2021 17:03

If your on the browser version I think there is a little paper clip that you can upload pics too!

Peachycream · 04/06/2021 17:17

@GingerTea333 I wish I’d had the forethought to do this before we started trying, rather than after! I guess it’s just going to be trial and error with the apps and OPKs for a while cause google is so conflicting in some of its information!

@ConfusedNewbie21 welcome lovely! Do you have a little paper clip button below the text box? I think you use that. Although, I’m sure I’ve seen on here somewhere that you need to have had your account open for 48 hours before you can post pictures, but don’t hold me to that cause I could be thinking of a different site!

@Peachycream I think 7 days. I’m using Apple health to track though rather than anything more accurate, so it may be slightly out. I’ve always had fairly obvious ovulation cramps though and the timing seems pretty spot on with the middle of my fertility window in the app.

Think I’m going to try and wait until the 14th to test if no AF by then. I’m sure the temptation to do it sooner will be huge but I don’t want to get into a pattern of testing too early and going through a tonne of tests. Feels like it could become a very expensive form of self torture.

glasspaw · 04/06/2021 17:27

@KayL1988

I did. I had been on Marvelon for 13 years and after doing some reading about contraceptive pills I decided that I didn’t really want to keep messing with my hormones like that. It took about a year for my cycle to regulate which was really frustrating at the time, but I’m glad I came off when I did because I have a much better understanding of my dates and cycle lengths now.

Peachycream · 04/06/2021 17:28

@glasspaw if I’m honest, apple health predicted my fertile window before the apps I used to put in my OPKs and it turned out my first positive OPK was on the day health told me and all I’ve ever put in that is a period start and end date, to be honest I’d forgotten I’d even used it this month! Haha.

That’s probably quite sensible, testing early can throw up a whole host of other anxieties I would imagine because of chemical pregnancies. That, and tests are expensive! Haha.

@KayL1988 @Peachycream thank you very much Grin in that case... can I send pictures over private message. This whole thing was not planned therefore I am bouncing off the walls here with uncertainty. Xx

Peachycream · 04/06/2021 17:36

@ConfusedNewbie21 you can certainly try!

Also, if this is positive, and you haven’t been trying, can you explain to us all how because we are baffled by your luck! 🤣

I second this 😂

ConfusedNewbie21 · 04/06/2021 17:58

@HRP1990 @Peachycream haha! I'm so sorry if that post was insensitive, I am fairly young so was panicked and rushed to one of the first threads I found. However I will happily share Grin this is the first of many many negative tests to look remotely like a line. Grrr I wish I could show you to get opinions!

Peachycream · 04/06/2021 18:01

@ConfusedNewbie21 not at all, I think after all of the research we’ve done we’ve all come to the group conclusion getting pregnant by mistake isn’t that easy 😂

Can you not upload to it an image sharing site and post the link on here?

HRP1990 · 04/06/2021 18:24

I think I can see a faint line but it’s a little blurry.. I’d wait a few days and test again to be sure! How are you feeling about a potential positive or negative @ConfusedNewbie21?

Peachycream · 04/06/2021 18:26

@ConfusedNewbie21 I mean it’s faint, but I do see a smudge.

I second @HRP1990 test again in a day or two, try using your first wee in the morning if you didn’t with this one, you may get a clearer result.

How do you feel about it either way?

OP posts:
ConfusedNewbie21 · 04/06/2021 18:28

Well, firstly you both asked how I feel about it which is so sweet, thank you. I feel completely confused. In all honesty, I feel scared, blessed, worried and so excited. All I've ever wanted in life was to be a mother, however I didn't see it happening just yet! I just wish I could get a magical answer Confused

KayL1988 · 04/06/2021 18:28

Yup can definitely see a faint line on here. When is your period due?? Xxx

ConfusedNewbie21 · 04/06/2021 18:30

I'm not sure as I have a very very irregular cycle, I did previously suffer from PCOS so very uncertain. I havnt had a period for quite some time. Sorry if TMI, but the only possible time of conception has been very recently. What do you think xx
KayL1988 · 04/06/2021 18:30

Sorry meant to sent more (shouldn't be walking when typing!!).

It's good you are feeling blessed, we are all actively trying and have pretty much said it's still scary - so I'd say that's completely normal!

Like the other ladies have said first morning pee is best and if you can afford a first response 6 days earlier you might see a stronger line xxxx

Peachycream · 04/06/2021 18:31

I think that’s how everyone feels when they get a positive. You said you’re young but didn’t say how young, do you have a good support network around you if it is positive?

Most importantly, does it feel right for you?

OP posts:
HRP1990 · 04/06/2021 18:31

I think all those emotions are to be expected @ConfusedNewbie21 especially if it was a surprise/unplanned pregnancy. I think only time will give you the magical answer! Hopefully the line will get darker in a few days!
