Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

Yeah it's just perception isn't it! I feel like shows like friends and sex and the city the main characters are all mid to later thirties by the time they have babies.

I just look around me now and don't seem many people my age without kids or pregnant.

Yeah business idea... I'm not sure my 25 year old self would have invested in this 😂😂 I'd be like 'errr or a holiday?'

We've got this ladies!!! 🥰🥰

Hi ladies mind if I join? I am 30, ttc first baby and 2nd cycle, just finished AF yesterday so eager to get started again haha! First time testing with opks this time as well as came off the pill last August and use apps to track but would like a "confirmation" that I am ovulating when it says :) best of luck for everyone in their ttc journey!!

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 16:51

@KayL1988 that’s very true! Everytime I go on Facebook there’s anyways another pregnancy announcement from girls I went to school with. Seems like there’s less and less of us.

Hey @Aries491 👋🏻 So many of us in our early 30s here though, I’m so glad! As soon as my period is finished I’m on the OPK’s patiently (or not so) waiting haha

Aries491 · 28/05/2021 18:29

Hi @HRP1990 so glad so many of us are similar ages :) I haven't told anyone we are ttc, don't fancy unnecessary pressure but need to chat/offload/read stuff somewhere so been lurking for a while on MN :)

Anyone else so glad it's a bank holiday?! :)

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 18:48

Hey @Aries491 - I am so glad it's the bank holiday weekend!! The husbands golfing tomorrow morning so I plan on lying in bed with the dog watching bad tv for a few hours - bliss!! Have you got any plans??

SareBear87 · 28/05/2021 18:59

I am so glad it's the weekend! I seem to chill out more. I think it's because I have things planned so I've got a welcome distraction!

Anyone got any plans?

We started the ambitious plan of building a brick BBQ in the garden at the start of the month but with all the awful weather means we haven't finished it. This weekend we have to get moving on it as we have F&F coming over in June for actual BBQs 😅

Seemed like a great idea at the time!

Aries491 · 28/05/2021 19:00

That sounds nice @KayL1988 such a relaxing Saturday:-) i love having the telly to watch crap for hours lol! looking at the weather might have a bbq either Sunday or Monday :-)

PaleGreenAndBrightOrange · 28/05/2021 19:05

@SareBear87 I had proper period cramps the day before I had the positive pregnancy test that became my little boy. Being pregnant felt EXACTLY like waiting for AF at the beginning so I had no clue. I just tested because it was weird to have cramps then no blood the next day.

That I’m TTC number 2 it’s hard not to interpret every period symptom as a lurking baby 🙄

But anyway... you’re not out til you see AF

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 19:35

I plan on being horizontal all weekend. Whether that’s outside in the sun or in bed binging something on Netflix 😂 anything crime related has my name all over it!

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 19:40

Ohhh you'll have to send Bbq progress updates @SareBear87 - we've definitely not been that ambitious with the garden this year!

@Aries491 @HRP1990 BBQ sounds delightful but yes relaxing with the TV is also nice (especially if AF shows her ugly face). I also love a crime documentary - I think I've binged all the ones possible!!!!

Aries491 · 28/05/2021 19:49

@KayL1988 @HRP1990 I love crime documentaries too, my OH doesn't get it and thinks I'm weird but they're my fave things to binge. Let's hope AF steers clear!

SH1000 · 28/05/2021 20:15

Hi girls, I really hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m 29 and ttc my first with my fiancé. I’m constantly lurking on this site and I’m still getting use to all the short names for things. Thank god for google!!!
We’ve been trying for 6 months now and every single month we think it’s the month. I know it’s not that long but I feel so paranoid.
About 3 years ago I got pregnant and it ended up being an ectopic pregnancy and I lost my left tube and it was so traumatic.
Now we are actively trying and nothing? I don’t understand how it just happened before.
My best friend announced last week she is pregnant by accident and it floored me. I’m delighted for her but I was stunned.
Sorry for all the info just had to get it off my chest Blush

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 20:29

@Aries491 if you have any good recommendations then let me know! That might be this weekends distraction!

Welcome @SH1000! Sorry to hear about that - I can't imagine how frustrating that is. Does your best friend know your TTC?? I feel like we've all got a lot to get off our chests after lurking!!

Peachycream · 28/05/2021 20:35

@SH1000
Welcome to our little group.
I’m sorry you’ve been through that lovely, it must have been a traumatic time for you.
Like you say 6 months isn’t that long, when you think about it, although 6 months is a long time, it’s only 6 times of trying, which when you get your positive will feel like nothing and they do say a year is perfectly normal.
It’s hard when loved ones announce because it’s such mixed emotions, on the one hand you’re delighted for them but on the other hand it can bring jealousy and resentment, especially if you’ve been actively trying and they haven’t.
Your time will come when it is time as they say, I know that probably doesn’t make you feel better right now hun, but you have time.

@Aries491 welcome to the group also!

I’m a little jealous of your weekends, I work in healthcare so I don’t get weekends or bank holidays or Christmas 😭

SH1000 · 28/05/2021 20:48

Thanks so much @KayL1988. She does know I’m trying which is why she told me at 16 weeks rather than sooner as she didn’t want to upset me. She is such a great friend and I am genuinely happy for her. I really hope we can experience pregnancy/chidren together.
Thanks a mill @Peachycream, really lovely words and that’s very true ‘6 times of trying’, it really isn’t that long when you say it like that. I really had to stop myself from being jealous though because I don’t want it to drive a wedge between us.

Feels so good getting everything out Smile

Oh no Sad you’ll have to have a relaxing night tonight before work Brew

Peachycream · 28/05/2021 21:05

@SH1000
It was kind of her to not tell you straight away so as not to upset you, she sounds like a good friend and so do you for not allowing jealousy to take over. Now you have us and you can come and vent to us whenever you need to!

Has anyone got the Clearblue Connected OV tracker? I’ve just bought it cause the reviews were all really good about it. It tracks LH and Oestrogen so apparently it can track ovulation better than just using the sticks and it downloads your results straight to your phone. And can detect 4 or more fertile days.

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 21:19

I'm glad you've got a good friend @SH1000 - and we are now your little support network!

@Peachycream I've not .. I used the CB sticks as well as the cheap OPKs last month and CB was much easier to follow so also tempted to get fertility monitor. Pretty sure AF is here now - so may treat myself to it tomorrow ☺️

Peachycream · 28/05/2021 21:23

@KayL1988 I hadn’t seen the monitors, do they seem any good from what you’ve seen about them? Yeah I just have the cheapie sticks at the moment, I just came across it by chance but from what I’ve read it seems pretty good and a lot simpler to follow, can’t go wrong with a smiley face right? Haha

OP posts:
SareBear87 · 28/05/2021 21:28

I use cheap OPKs, so long as I don't drink more than 2 litres a day they're really accurate for me.
I was tempted by the Mira system but that is super pricy!!

I think even after we've got our family I'll keep using the OPKs. My luteal phase is bang on 14 days so it's perfect for tracking AF

KayL1988 · 28/05/2021 21:30

Yeah the smiley face was handy as it flashes to tell you your high fertility when you estrogen goes up and then confirms your peak when your LH goes up. With the cheap sticks it's just catching the LH surge so much less lead up.

The fertility monitor has good reviews from what I've seen. It's like a digital machine that you pop the mini sticks in and you can also do pregnancy tests in there. I like the connected stick idea too though - think it overall does same job!

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 21:47

@Peachycream @SH1000 6 times of trying - that’s such a great way to look at it!

1 of my best friends got pregnant years ago, first time she slept with her boyfriend. Unplanned of course but what are the chances lol

I’ve heard of the clear blue tracker but haven’t used it. I’ve also seen people take their temperature as that’s a sign of ovulation? I haven’t done that either but if it takes a while I may look into both

SH1000 · 28/05/2021 21:59

Thanks so much girls. I’m so glad we have this support network, I’m already feeling more positive Smile

@HRP1990 it seems that if you’re not actively trying ttc happens quickly, might have to change our strategies Grin

I’ve used the sticks during my fertile period but never got a positive. I’ve been trying to track my ovulation symptoms and from that I think I ovulate earlier than I thought Hmm

From all my lurking the best way seems to be to dtd every other day but I’ve read excellent things about the monitor and would love to give it a go.

I’ve also learnt so many things about my body and how it works that I’ve never known Blush

HRP1990 · 28/05/2021 22:08

@SH1000 maybe try the sticks from the 1st day after your period ends encase it’s much earlier than you think, that way you can’t miss it 🤞🏻

Let us know how it is if you try it! I’m open to anything.

Have you heard of the SMEP method? “Sperm meets egg plan” Thats when you DTD every other day from day CD8 I think.. and 4 days in a row from your peak, miss a day and DTD once more. I did some research and people have got a positive from it
