@Aimzie men are a little deluded with it all. Mine said last night he thinks if we didn't go down the IVF route we'd get pregnant naturally, eventually. I was like you...have you seen what we've been doing the last 26 months! I don't ovulate without help and can't be on ovulation induction long term so it'd only be a matter of a months till there'd be no other options so IVF and he's go his low morphology 🤦🏽‍♀️ I think he sees the IVF is optional rather than the next step if you know what I mean? I guess it feels that way a bit more as we're paying for it. Definitely get your tests done as at least then you'll have a few questions answered which will help

Crazydoglady123 · 19/03/2021 10:39

IVF-ers...my clinic yesterday asked about how many embryos we wanted transferred (if obviously we get a good result from egg collection/development). I put down a maximum of 2 on the forms but if I do get a choice, I'm undecided... Did any of you ladies get to choose? Would you take the risk of twins or just go for one?

Aimzie · 19/03/2021 11:12

@Crazydoglady123 I would want 2, not because I'm selfish, well maybe I am lol and I know there is a risk but just because I dread to wait as long again for number 2. I'd love to have two and only go through treatment once 🙄❤️

@Crazydoglady123 I'd put two down too. For exactly the same reasons as @Aimzie
@clolo thanks hun x

Hey :) bout to go Holland and barrett and pick up every vitamin in there - recommendations of what I need?? I am getting b complex for spotting and folic acid- anything else?

@crazydoglady123 I'd go for two as well! Last month as well as being convinced I was pregnant - I also convinced myself it was twins 😂😂😂😂

I thought it was more common practice these days to only transfer one though

@notyetamumbuttrying happy birthday lovely! Totally get you - I turn 30 next year and I have the same dread of ffs thought I would be a mum by now

@aimzie glad you have your private tests booked!

thislittlebird · 19/03/2021 11:20

My understanding in basic layman’s terms is magnesium helps regulate hormones so they work properly @Tofu35 @RobinRose

We are apparently quite magnesium deficient these days

Juno231 · 19/03/2021 11:21

@Crazydoglady123 I'd go for one but purely because having twins would cost 2.8k/month to have in nursery here in London! I think I'd also worry first round wouldn't work due to them not fine tuning the method/meds enough to you due to lack of info and then wasting two good embryos in one go...

@notyetamumbuttrying happy birthday Queen Donkey! How fortuitous it has landed on a Friday :) Will wine be drunk tonight in celebration or are you clean now until IVF?

Juno231 · 19/03/2021 11:22

@Annny27 vitamin D! Apparently we're all deficient due to sitting indoors all day long and it's an important one in TTC terms :)

Crazydoglady123 · 19/03/2021 11:25

@clolo it's the risks to the babies that give me doubts as I had DS before okay so I feel my body could cope but I get what you all mean @Aimzie @notyetamumbuttrying and @Annny27 as OH desperate for a big family and I'm not sure I want this journey every time...

It's getting real now...just paid for the meds and they're arriving Tuesday!

Crazydoglady123 · 19/03/2021 11:26

That makes sense too @Juno231

@Annny27 coQ10 and maybe omega 3 and zinc. Vita dha do it as a combo pair. Thanks for the bday wishes. They just feel bittersweet when ttc don't they.
@Juno231 haha thank you 😜 very fortunate! Champagne is being drunk tonight hun, going for it! We drank mid feb too cos of Dh bday, but we don't drink often anymore. Kinda need ivf to be done before the world opens up again and we're out again!
@Crazydoglady123 Tuesday ooh!!!

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker thank you 😊

Crazydoglady123 · 19/03/2021 11:39

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker he never mentioned it being a choice to me but when I watched all the video modules when we had to do our consent it said they transfer one but they do two more so for over 35 or 36 (I'll be 33 when ET) so I didn't think there was a choice. On the consent forms we could choose between one and three for the maximum amount we'd have transferred max but then yesterday the nurse asked us how many we wanted and it really threw me. We have our screening with her this afternoon so I'll speak to her again. I'd love to have twins but at the same time I wouldn't want to risk their health

Narwhal88 · 19/03/2021 11:48

@Crazydoglady123 I don't get a choice as I'm NHS funded and they only let you transfer 1. I think I would go for 1 at first as I've seen loads of IVF twins born prematurely or 1 twin die as the risks are much higher. I would absolutely love twins though, always have. When I was a little girl I asked for a twin pram for Christmas as I kept saying I wanted twins 😂

Motherofkittens28 · 19/03/2021 11:50

Happy birthday @notyetamumbuttrying!
I was diagnosed with endo back in 2007 when they cleared it all out so I want it checked to see if it's recurred and then get it cleared out again. My opp is on Thursday.
@crazycatlady1981 im with you, I desperately wanted to have my baby before I turn 40 but chances are slim now as I've only got just over 10 months to go!

Motherofkittens28 · 19/03/2021 11:58

@RobinRose I also get migraines before AF, one of the signs that the ivf hadnt worked for me.
@Crazydoglady123 we had ticked yes to two embryos but then the clinic made us redo the form to just tick one. They said they would get us to do them again if on the day they advised transferring two. We are both certain we only want one child, the thought of twins terrifies my OH, but I would do a double transfer if they advised it and just hope for only one being successful.

Motherofkittens28 · 19/03/2021 12:06

One of my relatives announced the birth of their baby last night and its got me really sad and quite resentful really. Obviously I'm happy for them deep down but I'm angry that it isn't me and so frustrated about the wait for our next ivf round. My friends keep telling me to forget about ttc for now and focus on my wedding in July but how do you do that when you are getting less fertile with every flipping month! Feeling really down today.

Ladies I've just been for my first fertility blood tests and cervical swab with the GP... she said my cervix looks red and asked if I've been on hormonal contraceptives as that usually causes that but I've never been on any 😕 she's referring me to gynaecology and has prescribed me with some vaginal relactagel. She also said I have thrush and gave me a pessary prescription for that. Has anyone ever had thrush? I honestly don't think I have it I'm not sore or itchy or smelling down there - it's just my usual creamy CM that I get after my fertile window she's seeing 🤷‍♀️

She said she's happy to refer me to the fertility clinic straight away as it's been 15 months now 🙌 I'm just a bit puzzled about the gynaecology referral as I'm sure I probably just have cervical erosion or something I had a smear less than 2 years ago that was completely clear.

Sorry I haven't had the chance to catch up yet back to work now but will catch up tonight!

crazycatlady1981 · 19/03/2021 12:45

@Motherofkittens28 back when I was 35 and we were NTNP, I had 40 as a my cut off age for having babies! 😱 I was so naive!! 🙄 Sorry you are feeling down!
I’m completely ignoring our wedding plans in October! Ttc and ivf is taking up all my head space right now! A few people have asked me about it, but I’ve just said it’s too early to say if it’s going ahead because of Covid! Don’t really want to have to explain to every wedding guest that we’re having ivf and if the first round fails, we’ll be using our wedding funds to pay for the next round!!

RobinRose · 19/03/2021 13:07

@thislittlebird I will add magnesium to me boots basket!

@Motherofkittens28 It's always a sign for me too, I think if we are ever successful, I won't get a migraine that month! Sorry your not feeling great today, sending hugs!

@2020mission I don't think I have had thrush but had BV a few times, did the gp take any swabs to confirm? My cervix was red a few years ago and the sent me to gyne, think it is standard procedure? Hope your referal doesn't take too long!

Well af decided to arrive today, right on time! Got myself a tens machine for period pain so I'm hooked up to that today, it is helping with the cramps! Roll on another cycle 🙄

2020mission · 19/03/2021 13:41

@RobinRose I'm so puzzled about the thrush as there's no itch, soreness or smell and the CM is creamy not anything like the cottage cheese that thrush causes. She didn't take any swaps except for from the cervix for a smear. I was bleeding brown a bit after it 😬 I am wondering if the acidity/pH balance of my vagina might be killing sperm though so quite glad to have the gel to use for a week incase that's causing problems 🤞

@Motherofkittens28 aww I know it sucks when you are TTC without time on your side. It's never easy to hear pregnancy announcements ☹️ I find every one of them hard to take these days.

Happy birthday @notyetamumbuttrying 🎉 🥳 enjoy your champagne tonight! That's the only positive of not being pregnant 😅
