Anyone else first month ttc?

Hi guys.

I’m new here, I’m 29 (30 in May) and my boyfriend is the same. We had decided to start ttc in June time 2021 but over Christmas we both decided to ‘roll the dice’ once before and started having unprotected sex this month. I came off the pill in October time as I didn’t get on with it AT ALL.

I use Clue but only had two afs before this cycle so not sure how long my cycle actually is. We dtd most days over when the app said I was most fertile and it aligned with the cm too. I’m dry not (tmi) so I assume I’m passed it now!

With a 30 day cycle I had last month I’m due af on the 22nd but with and 35 day one (which I used to have before the pill I’d be ov around today but cm isn’t having that, well dtd anyway just in case. Then wouldn’t except af until the 27th. I’m willing it not to arrive and have decided to not even contemplate a test until the end of the month if af hasn’t arrived.

Just wondered who else is trying and in the first few months? I can’t help but reading everything I can find about early signs and feel like when we start trying properly in the few months I might go crazy!!

How are you finding it?

@Grace185 Yes this will be my first. Is this the same for you? 😊

That makes things easier then! Pre pandemic I worked out and about 5 days per week and my partner worked away so this is a great opportunity to start trying. Does your partner work at home?

Oh am I? Hmm I’m not sure. I keep going between “I will wait for AF” and then I think “maybe try 11 or 12DPO”. Depends on what mood I’m in haha. I really do feel i’m not pregnant this cycle but that element of possibility is there!

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 19:30

@lucea87 hey :) exciting times, you get all the fun dtd haha. I think my OH is starting to like how up for it I am!

@MMG21 well that would be amazing hey! That happened to my little sister.

I don’t know if maybe thinking “I’m not pregnant this time” is a way to protect ourselves from more upset?

Aww that would be lovely. Keeping my fingers crossed for you 😊

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 19:36

@MMG21imiagine if we got 100%! Looking forward to hearing how people get on! I know a lot of accidental pg and first timers but also know of some who took ages so fingers crossed we are all the first lot!

@Dixie1488 yep our first too :) I’ve got so broody recently and OH was the one who first brought it up so I know he’s up for it :)

No he go out to work every day but yeah the Panasonic is great to make sure you can dtd whenever needed haha.

Yeah I get that, no harm in waiting for af. That’s what I’m hopping I’ll do. If it’s not come by the 31st then I might test! Just don’t want to get into the habit of testing too early as it seems to be another reason people get stressed.

@Dixie1488 I def think the thinking you’re not is a protecting thing and there’s no harm in that! Tbh I hope I’m like that once I reach the days where early signs could show. I don’t want to get my hopes up. OH keeps saying ‘oh maybe you’re of’ and there’s no way yet haha

@MMG21 I'm also TTC 2 and this is first month I've had flashing smiley yesterday and today and havin pains tonight so think my static will be tomorrow really want to catch on quick as want a small age gap!

MMG21 · 11/01/2021 19:40

@Dixie1488 yep it certainly does it makes me feel better anyway. Always say the opposite so you're mentally prepared but then you're still upset 😭 oh well i can hope but if not I hope it happens sooner rather than later I really also wanted to surprise my mum on her birthday in April with a scan card im such a dreamer lol xx

Glenpatrick · 11/01/2021 19:49

We tried a lot and honestly it was one of our ‘lazy’ DTDs where I got pregnant 🤣 I tried everything - firstly The Flo app with ovulation sticks & pre natal vitamins, then acupuncture from the nov until March (when I got pregnant) and then I had just bought the Ava temp tracking band and was on month 2 of using it when I noticed my temp staying high thought hmm that’s odd tested 4 days later and got a positive. Hubby was working away at the time so had to keep it to myself from the Wednesday morning until he got home Friday night was killing me not saying anything! So I really don’t know what worked going to dig out the band again and get it charged and am using the flo app for the last 2 months, really don’t want to go down using the ovulation sticks again

penguin7 · 11/01/2021 19:57

We can all keep check on here how we are all doing!

I've decided that if not successful this cycle will try the ovulation tests next cycle.

marcella64 · 11/01/2021 20:03

@Glenpatrick funny you say about acupuncture, I had it on my shoulder.. said to the therapist about my miscarriages and next month boom pregnant! Might go again! Xx

Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 20:03

@Grace185 Aww that’s so lovely that he was the one that brought it up 😊 My partner and I thought about waiting until March/ April but i felt why wait? So he agreed and now he’s looking forward to trying (more times DTD the better) haha!

Ah yes I get that. I worry I may start looking for signs and symptoms when in fact it’s nothing or just PMS! To be honest I think I have PMS now which is making me think I’m definitely not :( it is only the first try though!

@MMG21 absolutely! I would feel so much worse if I was sure I was and then got a negative! Aww that would be lovely, nothing wrong with being a dreamer 😊💕

@Glenpatrick Ah wow that must of been hard at the time, but so blessed to have a baby in the end 😊

I think I may try temperature tracking if we don’t have success within a few months, I just don’t want to get too stressed.

May I ask why you wouldn’t want to go back to ovulation sticks?

Wow well done you! I’m not sure I would have lasted that long without blurting it out! 😂

PinkPantherr · 11/01/2021 20:04

Hi everyone can I join! Me and OH are on cycle 2 of ttc 1st baby. We used opks for the first time this month and DTD at the right time so fingers crossed! I'm 9 DPO and the urge to test is so strong!

penguin7 · 11/01/2021 20:12

@PinkPantherr fingers crossed for you! How did you find using the tests? How many tests did you use this cycle?

I'm going to look at getting them for my next cycle if not successful this time.

PinkPantherr · 11/01/2021 20:22

@penguin7 Thanks you too! I found it really helpful actually I took one every day from CD11 to CD 17 where I got a very deffinate positive. it put meat ease knowing we were dtd at the right time so we have done everything we can and whatever happens happens! Will carry on using them next month but I have no idea if it's likely to change?

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 20:22

@PinkPantherr I def second everything @penguin7 asked :) when af due for you?

OP posts:
PinkPantherr · 11/01/2021 20:24

@Grace185 I should be due on Wednesday or Thursday this week so not long to wait now

penguin7 · 11/01/2021 20:29

@PinkPantherr aww not long to go...eek! I've got another 10 days to wait! Determined to only test when AF is due.

Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 20:32

Hi @PinkPantherr and @penguin7... I agree with @Grace185! It’s so helpful :)

I wonder how frequently you guys DTD? Is it just in the fertile window 5 days or so? Or though out the cycle ? I read in some places we should DTD 2/3 times per week through out the cycle but then other places say everyday in fertile window because there’s little point in the “non fertile” weeks... so I have no clue!

I’m not sure I could take DTD every day!! Haha

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 20:36

@PinkPantherr let’s us know if she turns up! We only agreed to ttc in this cycle but when Clue said the window was starting we dtd most days and I suppose we’ll keep going! Next month I think we’ll just do it as much as possible and every day around ov. What do others do?

OP posts:
penguin7 · 11/01/2021 20:41

Yes DTD more frequently around the fertile week. Used Clue app so that gives you what they think will be potential ovulation day but I could also tell with the CM (sorry TMI)

PinkPantherr · 11/01/2021 20:47

@Grace185 will do! I'm going to test on Wednesday so I'll let you all know! I have literally no symptoms though which doesn't bode well haha!

@Dixie1488 hi! We did it almost every day from af finishing to end of furtile window and then once in the time since haha I think we'll generally try for every other day after af and then every day around ovulation then DP will be rested till af rears her ugly head

as DP likes to say go hard or go home Grin

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 20:56

@PinkPantherr sometimes (well I think) you won’t get any until after af is due anyway so it’s not over until af arrives :)

OP posts:
Glenpatrick · 11/01/2021 21:15

@marcella64 ha no way! I found it super relaxing if anything it gave me an hour a week where I had to chill out and relax, might start it again...I do think it helped the woman who I went to focused on lengthening my luteal phase (which worked!)

Glenpatrick · 11/01/2021 21:19

@Dixie1488 it was so hard, I’d also said to people in the office the day before I was going to be in extra early as I had a lot on in work that I wanted to get done - obviously didn’t make it in early - told them then when I was 12 weeks along why! In ovulation sticks I got a bit obsessed with them the last time and I feel it took a bit of the fun out of trying, felt very clinical but at the same time I know they are useful. He was def worth the wait 🥳

Glenpatrick · 11/01/2021 21:20

@PinkPantherr 🤞🏻 For you! I hate the TWW it’s the longest part of the month by far!
