Hi there, starting treatment in next few months after 3 1/2 years of trying naturally. Anyone else starting IVF/ICSI in next few months? I have very low AMH so odds are very low x

@Janefx40 pleased your going to stay on the thread .. thinking about you xx

@Mrs32 pleased your hubby is looking after you ... rest up lots over the next few days ... when are you expecting to hear from the clinic?

Yes I am fine just have episodes of tiredness .. I don’t go back to work properly till the 17th May so hoping my energy gets up before then! Scan is a week tomorrow so looking forward to that xxx

Mrs32 · 12/04/2021 16:33

@furmummy is that a 7 week scan to check heartbeat?
So what are the steps after transfer?
Do you home test then into hospital for confirmation of home testing result.

Im hoping to test trigger out of my system, just so i have a better idea of whats happening.
This is our first IVF, its all so nerve wrecking bec we had our initial hospital visit end of 2018 - a ridiculously long journey getting to today.

Im so greatful i have a good husband, hes a great help to me.
I will get a call tomorrow to let me know how many fertilised etc then transfer on Thursday or Saturday, hoping for a Saturday transfer.
I have this week off work despite working from home, wanted to redt lots before the transfer.

Furmummy · 12/04/2021 16:53

@Mrs32 yep, they call it a viability scan to check everything in the right place, heartbeat, how many etc .. mines at 6 weeks and 2 days. After that I will get signed off to the GP.

After the transfer I went a bit crazy 🤦‍♀️ They put you on progesterone pessaries (each clinic maybe different) but I had them twice a day - you need to lie down for 30 mins after inserting them. I think the sudden increase in progesterone affected me a bit along with worry of whether it’s worked etc ... I definitely struggled a bit during that first few days and my poor husband definitely got the worst of it. I did my first test on day 4 (post 3 day double embryo transfer) it showed a very faint positive and I got all excited but the next day it was negative .. however I showed positive really really early from day 6 (incredibly faint) and it got stronger till my official test day on day 15. My clinic gave a home pregnancy test and you call them to inform of the result.

I think the time after the transfer is really tough as you just want to know if it’s worked ... it sounds like it has been a long process for you but pleased your here and it’s all happening..

This was my first go and my odds were terrible, they even were discussing cancelling my cycle ... so stay positive - it really does only take 1 egg ...

If I went through tww period again I would definitely try yoga and some relaxation exercises ... maybe catch up with some friends and keep your mind busy.. yes that’s a good idea being off work - rest up xxxxx

Ps let us know how you get on with embryologist x

Janefx40 · 12/04/2021 20:37

@Mrs32 I tested out my trigger this time. Not done it before. It was quite fun at first seeing the positive tests (because I knew I couldn't be pregnant) but it started to become stressful when I got to a point that could, in theory, show a positive. Mine went almost negative on 10 days post egg collection. Plus because you want to use the first wee of the day, I'd find myself needing the loo in the night but not going because I was saving the wee for a test - then not sleeping properly. Got in a right faff.

I suppose my advice with it would be to be very aware of yourself and your emotions and stop if you feel it is becoming unhelpful.

Yes @Furmummy I agree that the 2WW is the hard bit - especially the final few days.

So exciting about your scan. I'll never forget my first scan with my daughter. I just started sobbing and the sonographer was a bit alarmed!!! I was so relieved and happy.

Mrs32 · 13/04/2021 10:52

So an update gitls
I had 13 eggs-only 6 mature embryologist was surprised at that low number and again of the 6 only 2 fertilised dhich is lower than expected.
I had egg retrieval Monday and she said transfer is Wednesday - only putting 1 back as im 35.
Im a little heart broken if im honest as i was hoping for more embryos, a super emotional day today- glad i took the week off work

Hope youre both well x

Janefx40 · 13/04/2021 13:11

Hi @Mrs32 I'm so sorry you feel upset but remember who you are sharing a thread with!! As I'm sure she'll say herself @Furmummy had 1 embryo!!! And is pregnant. You only need one and you may even end up with another one frozen for future. I do understand tho as IVF always feels like a numbers game.

Fingers crossed for Wednesday. Transfer is fine and painless. Don't drink too much water - your bladder doesn't need to be as full as they say and it's awful needing the loo when you're trying to relax.

Be nice to yourself today and once you are digested the new situation, focus your energy on those two lovely embryos.

Lots of love to you xxx

Janefx40 · 13/04/2021 13:13

I got my negative blood test as expected. Was really relieved as didn't want a chemical which delays everything and means more drugs, tests and general faff. Yesterday afternoon I was a bit sad but woke up today feeling more positive and glad it's over in a way. Next cycle can start in about 6 weeks or whenever I get my period so just a brief window to relax before we go again.

Xxx

Mrs32 · 13/04/2021 14:59

@janefx40 i appreciate your advice and support. I will definitely look at how much i drink bec i need to wee a lot LOL dont want to wee on the Dr

You have a great attitude and i love how you are looking tonthe future and your next cycle.

The news has settled now and i am feeling hopeful for our 2 embabies, waiting for a call from embryologist later today as i want another update to make sure they are both doing well. Im looking forward to having 1 inside me which will give the embryo the best possible chance.

Thanks for your support girls x

Furmummy · 13/04/2021 20:05

@Mrs32 that is great news having 2 embryos ... I only had 1 follicle. Which had 3 eggs and 2 fertilised and transferred .. it only takes one!

@Janefx40 glad your feeling a bit more positive today - also it’s good having a plan, gives you a focus ...

I am having mini freak out today as stupidly retested using clear blue digital which showed 1-2 weeks .. this is what it showed 13 days ago ... so annoyed at myself for testing .. know there are many mixed reviews on them so hoping it’s the inaccuracy of the tests .. just feel a bit odd today .. my symptoms have gone and think I have just freaked myself out .. trying to put it to the back of my mind till Tuesday 🤦‍♀️ Xx

OP posts:
Janefx40 · 13/04/2021 20:12

@Furmummy yes step away from the tests. I'm never convinced by symptoms either. I think they come and go anyway. I freaked out with DD because I didn't have swollen or sore boobs - I never got them at all even though my boobs usually swell up before a period. Pregnancy is weird - symptoms mean nothing.

Sorry I got your story a bit wrong! 2 embryos but from 1 follicle!!

Xxx

Furmummy · 13/04/2021 20:19

Yep I am definitely going to step away .. I have spent a small fortune on pregnancy tests 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Yes your right about symptoms - I need to just switch off till Tuesday ..

Haha no probs - the super follicle I call it 😂 xxx

Mrs32 · 13/04/2021 20:36

@furmummy thats so confusing urgh stupid tests

Ive also made some companies richer with the amount ive been through on this journey.
Its tough to stop testing but it sometimes help keep me sane LOL

Furmummy · 14/04/2021 15:13

It’s gone to 2-3 weeks phew!!! X

OP posts:
Janefx40 · 14/04/2021 15:16

@Furmummy great! But stop testing!!!!

Janefx40 · 14/04/2021 15:17

@Furmummy seriously though that's great. Hope you are feeling a bit happier? X

Furmummy · 14/04/2021 15:31

@Janefx40 I promise I won’t test again!!! My husband is away at the moment and didn’t dare tell him last night so been silently worrying to myself ... so definitely a huge relief! X no more tests I promise xxx

OP posts:
Furmummy · 19/04/2021 09:00

How’s everyone doing? Did you have your transfer Mrs32?

@Janefx40 have you started making plans for your next round?

My scan is now on Friday .. I had stupid freak out last week and spoke to the clinic and they scanned me early but couldn’t see enough to verify anything so am back Friday now. It was only 5 1/2 weeks so it’s no wonder .. much more relaxed this week tho x

OP posts:
Janefx40 · 19/04/2021 09:38

@Furmummy it's totally natural to freak about and worry. This is a very stressful way to become pregnant and the fear of loss can be overwhelming. I'm glad you feel calmer this week. Not long to wait now until Friday

I have a follow up consultation booked for 30th but I'm a bit unsure what to do as it's with a Dr I find really unhelpful. Think I will ask for someone else but not sure how to word it. Apparently they will call tomorrow too so will find out then about whether or not to start taking DHEA etc again

@Mrs32 hope you're ok.

Xxx

Mrs32 · 20/04/2021 12:35

Hey ladies

@furmummy keep us posted on how your scan goes, praying little one is growing heathy and all is well.

@janefx40 you definitely need to have a Dr who you can be open with and who understands you and is doing everything to help, i hope you can get the Dr changed to make things easier for you. Theres nothing worse than having dealings with a Dr you feel isnt doing everything or is not so helpful.

I have my collection on Monday and transfer was Wednesday 14th.
Got a call yday to say the other embryo we had in the lad wasnt making much progress unfortunately which is quite sad to hear.
I am feeling a bit mixed, hopefthen concerned it hasnt worked and my moods a little everywhere, the progesterone pessaries are making me a little moody, happy, upset so ive not been on for a while.

My test date is 28th April but AF is due 26th so lets see what happens.

Hoping youre both well and in as good spirits as can be theough the stresses of TTC and early pregnancy xXx

Furmummy · 20/04/2021 13:34

@Janefx40 yes I think it’s important to have someone your comfortable with. Also I think when your paying for it your entitled to choice

@Mrs32 oh gosh thats gone so quickly - sorry I didn’t ask before now .. I have been totally self absorbed with anxiety 🤦‍♀️😂 the tww wait is horrendous ... and I also found the progesterone made me moody ...it starts to settle down but I felt horrible in that period .. I have everything crossed for you xxxx

OP posts:
Furmummy · 23/04/2021 16:44

Sadly my news is not so good.. it’s stopped growing so nothing much to see on the scan. I have been referred to EPAU to look into management next week xxx

Janefx40 · 23/04/2021 19:10

@Furmummy I'm so sorry to hear this. I have been in a similar position and know how devastating it is. There are just no words that can make this better I know. Talk to us as much as you want. You can send me a DM if you want but no pressure if you want to just disappear for a while.

I called the miscarriage association a lot when I was going through my miscarriage. They just provide a sympathetic ear which was what I needed. There is also a FB group that is very supportive if that is your kind of thing.

Sending you so much love x x

Furmummy · 23/04/2021 19:31

Thank you for your support that’s really kind and good advice. So sorry you have also been through it ... I will be pleased when Monday is out the way and a plan has been made ...
We have decided to hold off till after the summer to do another round as from finding out our odds to this it’s been an intense 4 months. I feel terrible as just snapped and been awful to husband and he is so upset too .. it’s just a shock.
I will still keep an eye on this thread as would love to hear about your journeys and will be thinking of you xxx
