Hi there, starting treatment in next few months after 3 1/2 years of trying naturally. Anyone else starting IVF/ICSI in next few months? I have very low AMH so odds are very low x

How did your information session go? I should be starting the injections this week x

@furmummy WOW this week, thats amazing news hun
Keep me updated on how you are getting on.
Our journey started end of 2018 with our first appt with the CRM to finally starting things now in 2021, its been a looooong journey.

My injections are in the fridge, i started bleeding the day of our info session so i will start early April with my 1st scan on day 1 of my P. We had info session, both hubby and i had bloods and i had a vaginal swab.
The nurse had vertigo so she wrote a prescription for 2 injections and forgot the 3rd so hubby will pick it up when he gives a sample which they will check and freeze so we will have 2 samples frozen and he will give a fresh sample to day of egg retrieval.

Cant believe the injections are in the fridge and ready sooooo nervous about self injecting.

Youre going to do great hun, i have everything crossed for a sucessful round x

Janefx40 · 08/03/2021 09:08

Hi ladies. I was on this thread when you first started it but not been around since.

@Furmummy good luck with the injections. It's ok once you've done the first one. I just count to three and force myself to stick the needle in on 3. It's a bit like making yourself jump into cold water!! You have to force yourself to take that step. Remember all your pain receptors are on the surface of the skin so once you've broken through the skin it doesn't hurt!!

We are starting a fresh round next Wednesday or Thursday. We had been told DPs sperm was so damaged there was no point but it turned out the tests were wrong!! You can't make this stuff up.

@Mrs32 glad you managed to get your info session sooner - it was going to be a long wait!

X

Mrs32 · 10/03/2021 18:44

@janefx40 thats great that youre starting today or tomorrow. Keep us updated on how you get on. Im thinking of getting an ice pack bec i hate injections so i might feel a bit better if ive iced the area first but need to make sure that will be safe to do.
Ive never wanted to start my period so much LOL, im expecting to start 31st march / 1st April and then i can have my 1st scan followed my the dreaded 3 injections.

Janefx40 · 10/03/2021 20:03

Hi @Mrs32 I just re-read my post and realise it was confusing. We are starting next week Wed or Thursday so 17th/18th!!

Yes I've heard of people using ice so I think it will be ok but obviously don't take my word for it!!

Have you read that book about IVF called Get a Life?! It's the journey told first by the woman then the man. I don't recommend it for your DHs because the husband can't manage to give his sample so it might freak them out. But it's quite funny the way it is told. I mentioned that to the nurse when I went for my first egg collection and she said "don't worry, if needs be we can take it direct out the testicles with a needle!". She had an evil glint in her eyes but it made me feel better!. Again, maybe not something to share with the other half!!

Mrs32 · 11/03/2021 19:31

@janefx40 ah i see so 17th or 18th fingers crossed you can start as planned.
We have a call about the embryoscope on 16th then im half way to doing my initial scan.
Urgh the month has come where i want my P to arrive, how odd it feels.

I have everything crossed things work out for you hun x

Furmummy · 14/03/2021 20:41

Sorry I have been a bit quiet - been hiding away most the week ...
Started injections, i am on 450 menupur snd 0.5 buseralin daily .. injections are fine, my husband does them as I am a total wuss .. menupur stings a bit, but It’s okay if take it out the fridge 20 mins before injecting and also injected slowly. The first few days my hormones were all over and I was a bit stressy .. however been fine since then. Being super kind to myself with food treats seen as not having wine! I have tried to go for walks most days just to keep mind busy ...

We go for our scan tomorrow so find out if anything to collect and if so when ....

Mrs32 - you will be ready to start now then .. I love seeing the boxes in my fridge disappear! I found it’s easier to let my husband do it ... but sure once u do first one it will be fine xx

Janefx40 ooooo exciting - glad it’s better news regarding the sperm .. hope all goes well this week. Xx

Janefx40 · 15/03/2021 11:20

@Furmummy good luck today with the scan. Let us know how you get on.

It sounds as tho you have got into a good routine with the injections. It's great that your husband can do it.

@Mrs32 what is an embryscope? Am feeling ignorant!! Hope the appointment goes well tomorrow.

I'm just waiting for my period. Obviously hoped for a pregnancy miracle instead but not happened. Will do tests on day 1 and see if we can proceed but have now realised that it's quite likely that my hormone levels will be wrong due to my age so we may not be able to go ahead. Just have to wait and see. This process is such a rollercoaster. Have a consultation about PGT-A in about 10 mins.

X

Furmummy · 15/03/2021 15:37

Just got home and not great news ..

the scanner could see only one 16mm folicle and a few smaller ones .. she has prepared me that on Wednesday it might be that we are discussing the viability of the cycle as they don’t usually go ahead with 1.

Preparing myself for it being over ...

OP posts:
Janefx40 · 15/03/2021 19:02

@Furmummy oh I'm so sorry. That must be so disappointing. Did she say the size of the others? IVF is such a rollercoaster. Keep going for now. It can be heartbreaking but also there can be so many twists and turns with IVF that it's hard to predict.

Will be here if you want to talk but understand if not x

Furmummy · 16/03/2021 07:53

Hi there, tbh the nurse was just very negative and quite unhelpful so I ended up leaving the clinic in tears ... having slept on it I feel slightly better. I am going to request speaking to the doctor tomorrow ... I spent the night reading about other clinics such as create and might look into them too ... how are u doing xxx

OP posts:
Janefx40 · 16/03/2021 13:45

That sounds more positive. Definitely a good idea to speak to the Dr. There are various Mumsnet threads on Create which you might find useful if you've not already found them. Usual tittles include the words Natural IVF or Natural Modified.

I'm ok. Just waiting for my period to start so I can get tested and then see whether I'm able to do a fresh round. Touch and go at my age as to whether my hormones will be in the right range as not been tested for nearly 12 months! They won't let me proceed if my FSH is too high - I can't remember is their cut off is 10 or 12. Also I'm still producing some breastmilk 9 months after I stopped feeding so it's possible my prolactin levels could be too high.

It looked like period was starting today but seems to have gone AWOL again now. I really hope we can do a round - we can't conceive naturally so although the odds of it working at my age (44) are very low, it's our only shot at having another child.

Am trying to stay relaxed about it but it's hard. Tho obviously I appreciate that doing IVF for a second child is very different to when we were doing it for our first xxx

Furmummy · 17/03/2021 10:01

It’s awful waiting isn’t it - don’t think I was ever so excited to have a period!

Wishing you all the best and hope your able to proceed .. am sure it’s hard whether it’s your first or second .. it’s tough all the emotions and putting your body through what we do. Keep us updated - thinking of you, I am just waiting for my scan x

OP posts:
Janefx40 · 17/03/2021 10:49

Will be thinking of you with your scan today. Hope it goes ok

X

Furmummy · 18/03/2021 07:09

So it’s not great but still a chance .. they are hoping for 2 follicles, having the collection at the weekend, but trying to stay positive as still a chance xxx

OP posts:
Janefx40 · 18/03/2021 13:05

@Furmummy oh good luck. I don't know if it helps but there is a woman on another thread I was on who only had one collected and is now pregnant. I know those stories didn't help me tho when I was in your position. I felt it would never be me that got so lucky (but I did - a story for another time maybe).

I had my tests this morning. Clinic called to say we can go ahead so I need to go back in for meds. Scary times!

Furmummy · 18/03/2021 13:57

Exactly - you never know so trying to stay positive ..

Oooo that’s great news and so exciting getting the meds ... I have my last injection tonight so looking forward to closing that sharps bin!

OP posts:
Janefx40 · 19/03/2021 17:50

@Furmummy when is your EC? Tomorrow? Best of luck

I'm on day 2 of stims and exhausted already! Not sure how I'll come with another 10-12 days. My clinic do daily bloods which is what makes it tiring. I had to get up at 5:30 this morning to get into London and home by 9 to take over childcare. Ready for bed

ivfbabymomma1 · 19/03/2021 17:56

My little boy is an icsi baby! Good luck on your journey OP

Furmummy · 19/03/2021 18:41

Yep it’s tomorrow ... ooooo how exciting that you have started .. that’s great you get monitored so much but must be exhausting! I never had my bloods done once but think that’s because was on Max dose of the drugs so can’t increase anything ... I found it quite tiring the first few days .. also when your looking after a little one ... I drank loads of cordial through the stims and sure that helped me lots as hardly had hint of headaches or anything ... best of luck, will be thinking of you x

@Ginger1982 and @ivfbabymomma1 thank you for the good wishes.

@Furmummy the monitoring is good in a way but can be a bit much. Bloods and scan tomorrow morning. Will get an idea of what to expect this cycle. Fingers crossed for some follicles.

Good luck tomorrow. Exciting!!! Enjoy the sedative x

Furmummy · 20/03/2021 14:26

All went well and feel good

I had only 1 folicle, however it had 3 eggs in it .. I will know more tomorrow .x
