Anyone TTC #2?

Lots of threads about TTC baby #1 so looking for someone baby #2 support!

If so how old is your current DC and what made you realise it was the right time?

DD has just turned 1 and we are thinking about #2 very soon! DD took 14 months to conceive so I’m prepared for another long slog...although a bit panicky that it could happen sooner! Am also still shifting some baby weight that clung on nicely during both lockdowns Wink

Anyone else?

LoopeyK · 11/03/2021 06:17

My static today after flashing yesterday

Anyone TTC #2?
May2311 · 11/03/2021 06:54

@LoopeyK yey 🙌🙌 Mine is still flashing! When did you start testing?

Good need my hubby isn't going away anymore 🙌🙌🙌 x

May2311 · 11/03/2021 06:54

Good news* that was supposed to say!!

LoopeyK · 11/03/2021 07:00

Started testing day 7 I'm now on day 14

May2311 · 11/03/2021 07:48

@LoopeyK so you defo haven't missed the "high" day by starting to test. At least you have your peak now. It's like a waiting game. 🤪 I just want my peak! Good luck with DTD! Xxx

mrssunshinexxx · 11/03/2021 07:57

It will be 3 days in total as the static stays for 48 hours but you are right it's not 4! Good luck @LoopeyK

lovelsa · 11/03/2021 07:57

We wanted a close gap, so #1 was 9 months when we conceived #2. It was tough, but I wouldn't have it any other way! My boys are super close and great friends.

Currently pregnant with #3, and a bigger gap. So when #3 is born in August they will be 4.5, 3, NB.

LoopeyK · 11/03/2021 08:26

Thanks, maybe I don't have 4 high days like everyone else?
We dtd last night, and he has morning off tomorrow so going to dtd again then haha then Sunday x

LoopeyK · 11/03/2021 08:26

Maybe I don't get 4 days of high fertility just 2/3?

mrssunshinexxx · 11/03/2021 08:39

This makes me happy I'm pregnant and my lo is 8 months @lovelsa

TheWhalesOnTheBus · 11/03/2021 08:40

Oh hopefully you'll have caught it @LoopeyK
Yeah maybe you have a quicker ovulation or something? Who knows!

TheWhalesOnTheBus · 11/03/2021 08:41

@DinkyGT I used opk this month - the clearblue digi ones and liked that it told me high/peak fertility without any of the guesswork of strips. Not the cheapest though

lovelsa · 11/03/2021 08:46

@mrssunshinexxx I'll be honest, it had its tough moments where all three of us were crying lol...but now that they are older it's amazing. They keep each other entertained and they are close enough in age (two boys) that they are interested in the same things. So it makes family activities etc easy because they can do the same activities and enjoy the same things.

LoopeyK · 11/03/2021 09:11

It's wierd I thought ide have a few days leading up to peak but we dtd last night and plan too the next few days every other so do you think that will be OK?

mrssunshinexxx · 11/03/2021 09:23

Haha I'm under no illusion it will be really hard but my lo sleeps through which I think is a big factor to have under our belts. @lovelsa it will al be worth it and more I'm sure x

Cantthinkofaname99 · 11/03/2021 09:35

@LoopeyK you should be fine, as long as you DTD around peak, it only takes one time.

LoopeyK · 11/03/2021 09:36

Thank you, been trying for 12 months this month so hoping the opks help with timing this time around

Cantthinkofaname99 · 11/03/2021 09:40

Does anyone know anything about short luteal phase? Last cycle I only had 7 days between peak OpK and AF, which I've read can be a problem. It was only my first cycle using opks, so I will see what it's like this cycle, but wondering if there are any supplements I can take. Or if it's worth speaking to GP if I get similar this cycle?

May2311 · 11/03/2021 11:29

@Cantthinkofaname99

I don't know loads but from what I do know I understand it's rare that the Luteral Phase varies in length each month- so for example if it is 8 days last month it will tend to be that every month. The part of our cycles that changes the length altogether is follicular phase ( pre ovulation) - that's the part that can vary. However, if you have recently come off the pill the LP can be slightly different for a while whilst your periods get back to normal. Sorry I don't know much about anything that will extend it! I wouldn't think it would be a massive problem having a short LP( although I'm no doc!) perhaps it will just be you won't get a positive test straight away from missing period? ( that's just me guessing!) try not to worry but I would recommend if it would put your mind at ease you could speak to GP for advice? Xxx

Mybobowler · 11/03/2021 11:48

@Cantthinkofaname99 I have a short luteal phase - about 9/10 days. As far as I know, it's pretty much always been like that!

From what I've read, a short LP is often caused by low progesterone. When I unexpectedly conceived DD, I was taking agnus castus to help with PMS symptoms (also often caused by low progesterone). I since discovered that agnus castus is used to boost fertility in women with a hormone imbalance. Could have been a coincidence, but I've started taking it this month in the hope that it'll work wonders again, so I'll keep you posted!

Maybe look into it? I got mine from Boots but I'm sure the dosage is too low. If I don't get pregnant this cycle, I'll order a stronger dose from Amazon.

I did mention my short luteal phase to a GP once and she was really dismissive and made me feel a bit of an idiot/hypochondriac. Tbf, I wasn't even TTC at that point 😅 could be worth mentioning to your doctor though, hopefully you'll get a more helpful response!

Cantthinkofaname99 · 11/03/2021 12:46

@Mybobowler
Thanks, I did see you mention agnus castus before so I may try that. It's hard to know what to try as there are so many things!

@May2311 Thanks, I've been off the pill since August, so I would assume that would be out my system now. Maybe I'm worrying for no reason, didn't really have too much of a problem conceiving #1 so it may have been the same then.

I'm getting to the point where I would like to go to the gp and get some tests done, if there is a problem I would rather know, than keep trying and getting my hopes up. Probably need to wait till been TTC for a year though.

May2311 · 11/03/2021 18:56

@Cantthinkofaname99 I think you should speak to GP- not necessarily because something is wrong but I think it will help you relax a bit hopefully once they have done the checks etc. Is it since Aug you have been trying? Try and stay positive- like you say you had no problem conceiving your first so it might just be this time it's taking a little longer ❤️Xx

Cantthinkofaname99 · 11/03/2021 20:38

@May2311 we have been trying since September but on reflection I don't think we have been DTD at the right times, only just started properly tracking ovulation and it seems to be later in my cycle than I though, so I probably need to give it a few months and see what happens and try and relax a bit (easier said than done!)

Mybobowler · 12/03/2021 06:55

@Cantthinkofaname99 it is horrible not knowing if there's an underlying problem. Hopefully you'll have success with OPKs but definitely go and chat to your GP if not. You never know, they might be prepared to check things out early and even if not, they may have some advice.

Do look up AC though. It seems it's not for everyone but some women have sworn by it. And fingers crossed that this is your month!
