Anyone TTC #2?

Lots of threads about TTC baby #1 so looking for someone baby #2 support!

If so how old is your current DC and what made you realise it was the right time?

DD has just turned 1 and we are thinking about #2 very soon! DD took 14 months to conceive so I’m prepared for another long slog...although a bit panicky that it could happen sooner! Am also still shifting some baby weight that clung on nicely during both lockdowns Wink

Anyone else?

I’ve been lazy too but gave myself some time off after the fiasco!

O M G @mrssunshinexxx that looks like a BFP to me! Congratulations. I knew this was a lucky thread!

Welcome @RHODXB I had a chemical too just coming towards the tail end of AF now waiting to ovulate again 🤞🏼Sorry about the wait with the vaccine!

@Jellybean023 welcome I’m on cycle 3 too Smile

Nothing to report here, I’ve started a higher dose of CoQ10 this cycle. Not sure it’ll do anything but can’t harm!

Good luck for this month @May2311 x

LoopeyK · 28/02/2021 07:11

Hi
We are ttc with our 2nd, my first born is 4 this month, we have been ttc to nearly 12months, its so heartbreaking every month when my peri arrives, I dontnknow why its taking so long, with my first we got pregnant the first month snd was very lucky, I am 34 nearly so not sure if this makes any difference but I'm fit and healthy and we really wanted to have a 3.5yr gap rather than a 5 😪 any help and advice would be appreciated, we tend to be actively trying every 3/4 days through the month and still nothing, it's now becoming hard because of wanting this too much, when do we consult a Dr because I know it can take a long time but when do you class too long? 12 months is a long time in my books

mrssunshinexxx · 28/02/2021 07:16

I think when you have no children doctor will start helping after 12 months but not sure if you already have one, give them a ring and ask there's no harm in that @LoopeyK I think every 3 / 4 days all throigh the month is probably why you aren't conceiving there are only realistically around 3/4 days and personally I would say closer to 2/3 in the cycle you will get pregnant on. Do you use opks ? If not I would buy them the clear blue ones if you can afford and that should help pin point fertile times then you can ease of the routine dtd the rest of the month
Hope this helps x

LoopeyK · 28/02/2021 07:22

Thanks for the advise, ok so I generally know when I'm ovulating snd we tend to have sex every 2 days around that week, but I did the ovulation test previously and this didn't seem to help as we done the same thing and still nothing, I know you have around 4 days in your fertility peak but I just can't seem to understand why nothing when we are doing what we should be at the right times if that makes sense, I I say to my husband that it's started to really upset me and maybe after this month we will take a break from 'trying ' I have been under a fair amount of stress to so this may not have helped

mrssunshinexxx · 28/02/2021 07:32

@LoopeyK
Personally I would use opks again so you know where you are every month, are you taking folic acid ? And try dtd every day over fertile period and relax off the rest of the month so it doesn't just feel like a constant chore as I know it can start to feel like that and my dh hated the pressure x

LoopeyK · 28/02/2021 07:45

I'm about to order some clear blue tests and try those, thank you so much

mrssunshinexxx · 28/02/2021 08:04

Let us know how you get on@LoopeyK I always buy the 4 day detection ones not 2 x

LoopeyK · 28/02/2021 08:11

Yes I've just ordered the 4 day detection so fingers crossed it helps 😀

Cantthinkofaname99 · 28/02/2021 08:27

@May2311 good luck this month

@LoopeyK I've no experience with what the drs say but probably worth giving them a call, it may depend on the doctors, if there is one at your surgery who specialises in family planning matters might be worth getting an appointment with them at least then you can talk to someone. Don't give up hope though my SIL was trying for #2 for 2 years, the month she was going to contact the dr found out she was pregnant.

Cantthinkofaname99 · 28/02/2021 08:31

So TWW do any of you do anything different? less exercise? Eat anything in particular. I know if you have ivf then your meant to rest for so long after implantation but not sure if there is any advice for people trying naturally. Trying to lose a little bit of extra weight so don't really want to stop exercising for 2 weeks!

TheWhalesOnTheBus · 28/02/2021 09:36

Good luck for this cycle @May2311
Welcome to the newbies! @LoopeyK I think if you've been trying a year and you're under 35 you can contact your doctor - only 6 months if you're over 35. Worth seeing what they say!

@Cantthinkofaname99 I don't do anything differently!

Finally got my peak after 7 days of flashing smileys. We've dtd the last 2 days, I assume it means I'll ovulate today or tomorrow so should try and dtd again! What do you all do once you've got your peak? DH is working today so not sure if we'll be able to fit it in!

May2311 · 28/02/2021 09:39

Thanks all 😊

@LoopeyK I agree check consistently each month with OPK as it can vary each month. I am also starting the CB OPK this month and I have only heard good things so hopefully it will help us both!! Try not to stress too much ( although 100% know how easy it is to do!!) and I agree with what @mrssunshinexxx has said- perhaps try daily in fertile window or at least day before & day of ovulation!

@Cantthinkofaname99 last time I kept up with the same exercise as I did before TTC ( 3ish runs a week and usually Pilates). From the research I did it's as long as you don't do anything you wouldn't usually do I think. Also did the eating pineapple core 🤣 - not sure if it worked but I'll be trying again!!

Good Luck everyone! Xx

May2311 · 28/02/2021 09:40

@mrssunshinexxx how are you feeling? Has it sunk in yet? DP shocked?

I love seeing people get their BFP- hopefully it will make this tread lucky for the rest of us 😊

mrssunshinexxx · 28/02/2021 09:46

@TheWhalesOnTheBus we dtd 3 days running upto peak but not on peak or after it
@Cantthinkofaname99 nothing different I think it's good to keep active and eating healthy x

@May2311 not sure it's sunk in... worked out the actual gap and it's closer to 16 months than 17 so nervous ! Ha it will be ok I'm sure ! Hubby was chuffed but v c shocked

TheWhalesOnTheBus · 28/02/2021 10:09

We've dtd the last 2 days before peak and I looked at when I fell pregnant with DC and it was the same so hopefully that will do it!

Ah that's such a lovely age gap!

mrssunshinexxx · 28/02/2021 10:13

@TheWhalesOnTheBus 🤞🤞
I know it's going to be tricky and especially the first 6 months til we get some sleep by it will all be worth it

Cantthinkofaname99 · 28/02/2021 11:13

Ok, I'll just continue as normal!

@TheWhalesOnTheBus we DTD the day I got my peak and 2 days later, didn't get chance the day after peak which I think would be when I ovulated but fingers crossed we did enough! I don't know when I ovulated with DS so I haven't got a lot to go on!

@mrssunshinexxx I think whatever the age gap is it has it's own challenges, so I wouldn't worry too much.

noname55 · 28/02/2021 11:53

Anyone else wear a fitbit or similar? I noticed my resting heart rate is going up slightly by the day. I had a Google and read it'll keep going up and stay up if I'm pregnant or come down when AF arrives. Thought that was quite interesting! Only 5dpo so we'll see what happens.

Cantthinkofaname99 · 28/02/2021 11:57

@noname55 I've got a Fitbit and it shows this over last 30 days, no idea what it means though 🤷‍♀️

Anyone TTC #2?
Cantthinkofaname99 · 28/02/2021 11:58

Looks like it was highest when AF was here last

LoopeyK · 28/02/2021 11:59

Maybe a silly question but I've ordered the clear blue ovulating 4 day windows for this month, so I test everyday from what day 10? And as soon as we get the smiley face dtd everyday until 2 days after peak?

mrssunshinexxx · 28/02/2021 13:41

@LoopeyK it will say in the leaflet what day of your cycle to start testing on depending on how long your cycles are it will be a blank face on the first day atleast then flashy when feritiltiy is higher so get busier then but every other day is fine I think. I have read a lot about sperm quality being lower if dtd every day then you will get the static face which means you will ovulate any time 48 hours from then. This face stays on the screen for the full 48hours
Have a good read of the leaflet and let me know if you have any other questions as I've just done a study for clear blue opks x
