Hey!

Want to get a group of ladies who are TTC at the same time to have someone to chat to during this journey together. It's a lonely process for me and only
In early stages of trying but would love advice, tips and general chat. This is an open chat and can't wait to chat to you all

@apwilso it's all to do with timing.
As the sperm that make a girl are slower swimming but live longer you dtd 3/4 before ovulation. So by the time you ovulate only the female sperm are still alive.
If you are swaying boy you dtd on the day of ovulation and the day after. The male sperm are fastest so should get to the egg first.

It seems to work for a lot of people! So fingers crossed.

We are happy to have two boys, but we thought we might as well try and sway if we can. Obviously dtd 3/4 days before ovulation does lower our chances of actually conceiving altogether, so if after a few months it hasn't worked, we'll just take the normal approach and go for it 😂

apwilso · 20/10/2020 21:54

@Waiting2BeaMama honestly the dark dark hole I end up in when googling symptoms, cycles, products the lot is so bad! The boyfriend is fed up of me I think😂

@Tabbycat92 never heard of that. I think for my first go I'll just take what I can get but out of curiosity I might get the book to have a read of. Wonder if it works!

Anyone using ovulation strips if so which ones. I'm using one step I think there called but never know if I'm high or not. All just look negative to me!😟

@apwilso haha same 😂 I’ve been using ovulation test strips for a while now. Usually used the cheap ones but they are really hard to tell! Recently been using the clear blue digital ones and they are really easy as you get a flashing smiley face in your fertile window, and a static smiley face on your peak day.

apwilso · 20/10/2020 22:05

@Waiting2BeaMama going to buy the clear blue ones because I'm on the cheap ones can't decide. went to tesco before to grab some conception tablets because we've gone away from the week and I have forgotten my tablets!! And there £30! But found them in boots for 19 so going to go get them tomorrow. Hopefully That will be clearer!

Waiting2BeaMama · 20/10/2020 22:10

@apwilso I totally grudge paying loads for them, but they are definitely easier to read so it’s probably worth it 🤷‍♀️
Oh what tablets are you taking? I’m taking the Pregnacare Conception ones but again they are so dear. Just keep thinking it’s worth it if we get pregnant

Bouncytree · 20/10/2020 22:16

@Tabbycat92 I hadn’t heard of the baby dust method, very interesting. Fingers crossed for you! We’d love a girl too...but I’m feeling in a hurry!!

@apwilso and @Waiting2BeaMama I’m also using internet cheapies strips, (easy @ home brand) along with Premom. I actually find that combo along with CM pretty good...don’t want to have to fork out for cheat blue every month though I did find them good.

Premom tells you the percent and you can track it rising. (See picture) I like that they are so cheap you can use as many as you feel like. The app really helps with interpreting the strips....it’s so hard trying to tell by the line colour.

Waiting2BeaMama · 20/10/2020 22:22

@Bouncytree I’ve downloaded the app and it looks really good! I like that you can see the graph. What cycle day do you start doing ovulation strips?

Livgrayxo · 20/10/2020 22:25

Does anyone know if Evap lines can be thicker (not darker) than the control line!! Thanks sending baby dust to you all and best of luck ladies.

Waiting2BeaMama · 20/10/2020 22:28

@Livgrayxo I have no idea on that one, sorry!
Thank you for the baby dust 😄 xx

AKcheer · 20/10/2020 22:29

Hi guys! Can I join!? My cycle no 4 of TTC just ended and AF showed up today so bummed! So into cycle number 5. Using OPKs too and trying to go by CM as well. Trying for baby 1 and definitley a lot harder than I thought it would be xx

Tabbycat92 · 20/10/2020 22:34

@bouncytree I'm also using premom along with easy@home. It's a rally useful tool.
As for vitamins I learned from the first pregnancy there's no need to spend out on them, they're very expensive.
On amazon buy a big box of folic acid 400mcg. Then just take a normal multivitamin. That's essentially all it is.

Bouncytree · 20/10/2020 22:34

@Livgrayxo I don’t have any experience with evaps. Fingers crossed for you though 🤞

@Waiting2BeaMama I start using them when I see egg white CM (cervical mucous)...if you start to keep an eye on it you can notice the change. Another thing to become obsessed with! It took me a little while to learn how to use them but they are so cheap (on amazon) for the first month you can start any time and not worry. The first month I did clear blue and cheapies together and found that a good way to get started.

I was taking pregnacare, but was recommended to take more iron after the MC so I’m just in plain folic acid, vit D and iron. Anything with pregnancy in the title is expensive isn’t it! But like you say you’ve got to just do what you need to do, to make it happen

Tabbycat92 · 20/10/2020 22:36

@waitingtobeamama start doing the opk's from the first day you period ends 😊 do them once a day until you see a rise, then twice a day (11ish and 4ish). When they start getting close to being positive do them once every 3 hrs.

1992EM · 20/10/2020 22:37

I would love to join I am on cycle 6 currently . I am around 6 dpo and due AF a week today. I didn't realise how difficult and hard ttc would be and really struggling with the fact I can't talk to anyone about it . We haven't told anyone we are ttc as didn't want the added pressure. I use opks however took a back seat this month as was getting a bit overwhelming. So hopefully we have covered enough days .

Waiting2BeaMama · 20/10/2020 22:44

@Bouncytree @Tabbycat92 thanks for the advice ladies! I will start taking them tomorrow just to chart as this is my first official month trying so might as well be accurate 🤷‍♀️ I will use a combination of the cheap ones and use up the clearblues that I still have.

@1992EM i can imagine it gets quite overwhelming. I am only on cycle 1 and feel obsessed, but I do realise that I’ll need to calm down a bit as who knows how long it’s going to take. I’m a bit of a control freak and I don’t really like the unknown

Bouncytree · 20/10/2020 22:47

Hi @1992EM . I know it can be tough going and can take a bit of time. Are you doing ok? It really is a luck and Persistence game. If egg and sperm Meet there is a 30% Chance of getting PG...so it’s a waiting game for your luck to come in, it doesn’t mean something is wrong. Would you consider telling someone you are close to? Telling one or two people you trust and will be kind and empathetic might actually help ease the pressure. Fingers crossed for you for the cycle 🤞

Waiting2BeaMama · 20/10/2020 22:48

@AKcheer nice to meet you 🙂 I am only on cycle 1 so a complete newbie. I’m feeling so impatient and anxious about the unknown. I had AF on Friday and expecting to ovulate around 1st November x

Leah2501 · 20/10/2020 22:49

Hi everyone!
I’ll join if you’ll have me. Currently awaiting coil to be removed 30/10 then it’s away we go for baby number 2.
Husband would prefer if we didn’t conceive until December (husbands an August baby and doesn’t want his child to be)
First bubba is an October baby and if we conceive in the next couple of months it will be a 2 year age gap.
I currently have copper coil in so no hormones which means I’ve had a regular cycle and I’ve been really good at tracking my ovulation, so when removed I’m confident I’ll know when ovulating.
I’ve ordered ovulation and pregnancy one step strips (we use those for patients in hospital so they’re good at early detection) and I’ve started taking folic acid and vit d.

Bouncytree · 20/10/2020 22:51

While we’re chatting OPK...can anyone understand what’s going on with my LH levels ? I don’t normally test so early and have only ever seen a rise when I was Peaking but LH levels are going up and down ....@Tabbycat92 Can you shed any light?

TTC chat!
Waiting2BeaMama · 20/10/2020 22:54

@Leah2501 hi there 👋 how exciting trying for baby number 2. My husband’s bday is August too. I’d ideally love a September baby but thought we should start now as it might not happen straight away. I’ve got a big supply of the cheaper ovulation and preg strips so good to know they are up to standard!

Tabbycat92 · 20/10/2020 22:56

@bouncytree mine have jumped like this before, I have heard of people having false surges.
I think sometimes it can be quite simply to do with how diluted your urine is.
I think the advice is to try and hold your urine for at least 3 hrs before testing, and try not to drink too much. This should give you accurate readings.
Also, a surge in lh will most often show in the afternoon.

Tabbycat92 · 20/10/2020 22:58

Hi @leah2501 I'm also trying for baby no.2. We planned for a Sept baby, but I'm too impatient 😂best of luck to you!

Leah2501 · 20/10/2020 22:59

@Bouncytree - not sure if I’m completely wrong here, but doesn’t that app want a white background? Are you sure it’s not picking up the grey lines from what you’ve laid your tests on?

@Waiting2BeaMama - husband didn’t like being an August baby so much he’s really in two minds about whether or not we start trying when my coil is removed or start in December. I think likelihood is we’ll start in December as there is no feeling of overwhelming urgency. Although I’m already obsessing about it all, I enjoyed my first pregnancy so much I can’t wait to do it again.

Tabbycat92 · 20/10/2020 23:00

@1992em hello. Yes opk's are very overwhelming 😔 I can imagine 6 months of trying has taken its toll. Sending loads of babydust your way xx

Tabbycat92 · 20/10/2020 23:01
