Hi everyone!

I'm currently on my first period after being on the pill for 15 years. The last 5 years I have taken it constantly with no break due to painful and heavy periods so I'm not expecting this journey to be a quick or easy one!

Hubby is 34 and I am 30, ttc our first and hoping to share the journey with some of you lovely ladies here so please feel free to join!

Me too 😊

I was on the pill for a few years then had the implant for 9 years. I’m 32, DH is 33. Not had my period yet but had sort of on n off bleeding n spotting. Feel really nervous actually! I had a termination when I was very young and keep worrying in my head that I will not get pregnant again Confused

Hopefully once my periods properly start I can track then and work out a cycle etc

PurBal · 30/09/2020 20:25

I'll join. This month was our first TTC and AF due tomorrow. I can feel it coming on so I don't think we had any luck this month (I might be wrong of course, who knows). We are 30 and 37.

whitershadeofpale · 30/09/2020 21:01

Me too, we’re not tracking etc but after our wedding was cancelled for the second time we’ve decided to go for it and see what happens. We’re 34 and 36.

Sparrow91 · 30/09/2020 21:54

🙋🏼‍♀️
We’ve literally only just made the decision last week, so struggling to be patient for my first AF post-pill. I was on Yasmin and have heard it screws things up for quite a bit longer than other pills.

Have been on Yasmin for about 3 years, and the pill for over 10 years by now.. just want things to regulate quickly so I know everything ‘works’ if that makes sense!

I’m 29, he’s 31, both trying for our 1st 👶🏼

MrsSugar · 30/09/2020 21:58

@Sparrow91
Totally makes sense. I feel the same like I really want my period to start so I can start to find a pattern. I’ve not had periods majority of my time on implant.

Moocher90 · 30/09/2020 22:24

Likewise, been off mini pill for 1 month no period yet, been off depo since March and was on that for years. I’m 30 and DH is 32. Also first time TTC. Hoping period comes soon. I’m checking my BBT daily and will start doing OPKs nearer the time I think I might be ovulating. In the mean time I have told DH that we will DTD every 2 days just in case the LH surge is missed.

Vicki1990 · 30/09/2020 23:22

Hi everyone, thanks for joining!

I was exactly the same, had my withdrawal bleed about 10 days after coming off, then this has been a 35 day cycle. It's so frustrating waiting for it to happen! I read somewhere someone drank raspberry tea to bring on their period and it worked!

I've decided to track my cycle from this month and just ordered my opks. Is anyone else tracking?

Hey! My partner and I have been TTC for 2 months now (I'm 18, he's 28). I'm on AF right now but hopefully we can try again soon 🤞🏼

SSH27 · 01/10/2020 01:59

Hi everyone,

Total newbie over here. Was going to start TTC this month but when I attended the GP they couldn't find my IUD (copper no hormones) strings so now have been referred for an ultrasound and am freaking out!

But while I wait for that to happen, any advice on TTC for the 1st time? Anything I should definitely do? If it helps I'm 27 and fiancé is 28.

Also good luck to all TTC this month. 🤞

adogisforlife91 · 01/10/2020 10:02

Hi - can't believe I'm finally joining one of these threads!

I've been off the pill since May, ready to TTC this month (so I'd be eligible for enhanced mat pay with work) I was very lucky, my periods came back like clockwork so I've been able to get to know my cycle quite well.

Just in my fertile period now so will be very busy over the next few days. Its a bit surreal that I could be looking at a BFP in two weeks or it could take months and I have no way of knowing! argh! We are 28 & 29

Good luck everyone :)

eastsussex94 · 01/10/2020 10:09

Me!

I was on pill 10 years (I'm 27 now). Came off pill two years ago and TTC now.
I'm 3DPO I believe, I do the clear blue OPK.

Wishing everyone luck!

CookieMonster3001 · 01/10/2020 10:36

Me too! Came off the pill a year ago. Been tracking my cycles for around 4 months and AF finally finished yesterday. Me and OH are both 33 and this will be our 1st. My fertile period is due next week and feeling a bit nervous already!

Good luck everyone :) :)

Vicki1990 · 01/10/2020 10:50

Hi ladies!

How exciting! Looks like lots of us will be busy this month!

Quick question for those who have come off the pill, what was your first period like? Mine have always been heavy and painful but after not having one for 5 years I feel like this one is out to get me! So many cramps, really really heavy and I'm only on day 2 Confused

OP posts:
CookieMonster3001 · 01/10/2020 13:46

@Vicki1990 my first period was pretty normal but they are so much shorter now. Pre-pill my periods would be around 4-5 days (back then I thought this was too short as everyone else I knew had a full 7 day period) now my periods last a max of 2 days. This month I literally came on at 1.30am on Tuesday morning and my period was finished by last night! And I wouldn't say they are that heavy either, just a normal medium flow. Not too sure if this is a good thing or not... :S

whitershadeofpale · 01/10/2020 21:52

@Vicki1990 mine was awful the first month but has been a breeze since so hopefully you’re will be fine soon.

Vicki1990 · 02/10/2020 21:27

Here's hoping! It's calmed down a bit today, not walking around quite so light headed anymore!

Looking at my current predictions on my app I'll be ovulating next weekend, anyone else?

I don't mean that I meant the 17th!

Hi all,

My fiancé and I are ttc for the first time this month since we’ve just moved our wedding for the 4th time due to covid. I came off my mini pill on Saturday, had my withdrawal Sunday-Tuesday and now am just tracking OPK’s which seen to be getting stronger to see when I ovulate. We are going to do SMEP so will start DTD every other day ( I’m on cd 6 ) and then every day for 3 days when I finally ovulate. I’m trying not to get my hopes up that it will work first time but I’m so excited about the though of possibly being 12 weeks by Christmas and telling everyone then, but pretty sure it won’t happen first time especially as I’ve only just come off the pill

lilacflower12 · 02/10/2020 22:11

@Vicki1990 I’m ovulating supposedly on the 15th but not sure as first cycle off the pill

AMS19 · 03/10/2020 08:30

@Vicki1990 hi! Im trying for the first time as soon as my first period arrives. Based on my withdrawal bleed I'm CD15, but obviously I havent had a proper period yet so won't be accurate. As soon as the first AF comes, we are going to start TTC

@lilacflower12 in exactly the same. Would love to tell everyone at Xmas but not expecting that to be the case! My realistic aim is mothers day, so March 2021, to be 3 months

lilacflower12 · 03/10/2020 09:50

@AMS19 you’re more patient than me! I know it would be more beneficial to wait a cycle to start trying but as my partner said, what’s the worst that can happen- you get pregnant?! When I came off my mini pill last time my periods when back to normal straight away, I think it’s because they don’t affect your ovulation? Annoyingly I was only on the pill for 2 and a bit months this time before I stopped because I had planned to be on it until a few months before our wedding but since my weddings been moved so many times I just came off it now! Yeah mothers days would be lovely- fingers crossed it happens sooner tho for both of us

AMS19 · 03/10/2020 09:57

@lilacflower12 ah I'm only waiting because either have a holiday in May and you can't fly post 35 weeks pregnant. And given I dont know when I ovulate yet I want to wait until I know I will be well before the 35 week mark. The holiday probably won't even happen after all this 🙄🙄 but as soon as I get my first proper AF, hopefully in a couple of weeks, I'm on the case!

I was on the combined pill so had my normal withdrawal bleed but now it is a waiting game. Tracking my BBT but it isnt giving me any clues at the moment. My stomach is so bloated and nipples really sore so maybe that is ovulation coming?! Or my period...who knows!

When do you ovulate? Let's hope we both fall asap 🤞🤞

Purpleflowers21 · 03/10/2020 10:01

@Vicki1990 hi! I’m in a similar situation, I’m 30 and just came off the pill after about 12 years. Withdrawal bleed finished at the start of this week and we’ve started TTC straight away. No idea what my cycles will be like but before the pill they were very regular so hoping they will return the same.

@whitershadeofpale we too were planning on waiting until after our April 21 wedding but after deciding to postpone to May 22 thought we’d start TTC straight away.

@lilacflower12 we also have a postponed wedding. I can’t imagine having to change it 4 times! We started TTC this week and also using SMEP oh I know imagine telling people around Christmas! I’m the same though I was on the pill for about 12 years so not getting my hopes up it will happen straight away.

lilacflower12 · 03/10/2020 10:11

@AMS19 I’m not holding any hope for holidays in 2021 either! The months have been going so quickly this year with everything going on, but seems to be going so slowly this month.. I know I shouldn’t be obsessing too much over TTC but I am seriously thinking what should I do for the 2 weeks before I ovulate? Like what is there to do but pee on OPK’s? Oh wait, just live my life like normal! I’m supposed to ovulate on the 15th, but I’m tracking my OPK’s incase that happens sooner or later than that!

@Purpleflowers21. It’s been so stressful, but luckily all our vendors have been able to do every new date so I don’t feel like I’ve missed out by moving it, we just couldn’t do it with only 15/30/40 people. And yes, would definitely be the best Christmas present! When is your period due this month?

Purpleflowers21 · 03/10/2020 10:17

@lilacflower12 I know that’s what we thought, no way we could cut down our list. As it’s the first month off my pill I’m not 100% sure but if my cycles do return to normal should be around 23rd. What about you?
