Hi everyone!

I'm currently on my first period after being on the pill for 15 years. The last 5 years I have taken it constantly with no break due to painful and heavy periods so I'm not expecting this journey to be a quick or easy one!

Hubby is 34 and I am 30, ttc our first and hoping to share the journey with some of you lovely ladies here so please feel free to join!

Thanks I’ll definitely stick to red dye from now on!

Puffin85 · 10/10/2020 16:06

@Vicki1990 not sure about ovulation really... Not on a proper cycle yet as just came off the mini pill 10 days ago. So really early days haha! Tbh I won't mind too much what happens this month, I mean we'd definitely DTD lots if I get an OPK peak, but I'd be OK with getting AF too in a reasonable time and settle into a regular cycle. Not sure how likely this is, might take a few months to settle down.

Vicki1990 · 11/10/2020 20:22

Hi ladies, how are you all getting on?
I've started to see a little progression in my opks which is positive!
I do have a question though, I logged my period as the 29th sept - 2nd October, but I also had a day bleeding on the 27th albeit lighter than my period, what date would you put in as my last period date? It changes ovulation date massively between the 2!

Hey @Vicki1990

All good my end. On CD24 and still a waiting game for me. Had a weekend eating and drinking way too much but hey ho, lockdown is looming so making the most of it!

I always read CD1 is your first full flow. So if you have a day of spotting you shouldn't include it. So I would say 29th. But DTD covering the different ovulation dates just in case. Are you using OPKs at all?

Vicki1990 · 11/10/2020 21:34

@AMS19 I'm with you on the eating and drinking too much 🙈
Yes using opks, I've attached my latest 2, although I think the one I've dated has gotten slightly darker since I took it so probably not reliable! It's my first time using them so not entirely sure what I'm looking at! Have been putting them into an app but get a different reading every time I take a photo, it's all very confusing!

Oh wow your OPks are great, super decent second line!! My second line is pretty much non-existent. I reckon you are in for a really good shot 🙂

Vicki1990 · 11/10/2020 22:16

@AMS19 they were pretty much blank yesterday and the day before the line was so so faint but I'm addicted to POAS so I've tested 3 times a day 🙈we've dtd the last 3 days but as it's our first cycle I'm not holding out much hope! If they are positive though I'm either having a really short cycle or the 27th was the start, it's all so confusing!

Hi all, joining in and apologies if you also saw my post on the main October thread. I'm 33, husband is 41 and we are so excited to TTC our first (well, I'm excited, husband is terrified).

Is anyone else using Tempdrop to track BBT? I got my Mirena out in late May and have been loving how easy it makes temping.

Fingers crossed for all of us this month!

PurBal · 12/10/2020 08:05

CD11, LH today, negative. Last month was positive at CD16. Always feels like such a long wait. Will DTD a couple of times later this week.

Puffin85 · 12/10/2020 08:12

@Vicki1990 that's great! Really hope you have a stress free 2ww and some good news at the end of it.

Welcome @Highfalutinlootin haha terrified husband! Oh dear 🙂 hmm is tempdrop an app? I've only just started temping this morning using femometer. I tried to start on Saturday but just turned my alarm off without taking it. On Saturday night I asked my OH to put the thermometer in my mouth when he wakes up (he's a super early bird. I hate mornings) but apparently I told him he couldn't and I'd 'been awake for ages' I have no memory of saying this haha. So finally managed to do it at 6.30 this morning. I'm 35 btw, just come off the pill so not expecting anything to happen for a little while. But still trying 🙂 have your cycles settled down into a pattern now?

Puffin85 · 12/10/2020 08:16

Hey @purbal fingers crossed for CD16 if not before! Were your OPKs negative at CD11 last month too?

Vicki1990 · 12/10/2020 08:20

@Highfalutinlootin haha my husband is the same! He wants kids but is petrified bless him!

@Puffin85 thank you, I took another test this morning and it's barely there, had pains the last 2/3 days and ewcm but my app doesn't confirm a peak, only first month so not expecting much! Good luck with the temping, would be interested to see how you get on! Been thinking about temping but may give it a few months first!

@Vicki1990 I was thinking I wouldn't start with temping immediately as it seems like a hassle - but then I decided to go for it because it gives you the best indication of whether you actually ovulated? Possibly being overly cautious here, but also thought it would be handy to have loads of data if things aren't working and I need to see the Dr.

PurBal · 12/10/2020 08:29

@Puffin85 they were but the faint lines were less faint if that makes sense? Using a different brand (IC) this month.

PurBal · 12/10/2020 08:30

My period was also 6 days instead of 3. So bot sure if that'll make a difference to when I'll ovulate.

Puffin85 · 12/10/2020 08:59

Oh @purbal sorry that's what I meant, faint lines rather than negative, sorry 🙂keep forgetting negative is anything that's not a super dark line. oh yeh I was wondering if having a longer period means you ovulate later too. I think my natural periods are around 7 days long. I seem to remember. And I think my cycles might be over 30 days.

Vicki1990 · 12/10/2020 22:24

@whitershadeofpale how are you getting on lovely? I remember you saying af was due today

OP posts:
whitershadeofpale · 12/10/2020 23:26

Thanks @Vicki1990 no sign of AF yet but I’ve been a bit crampy though so I’m not reading to much into it.

I’ve held off using the digital for now. Going to wait until I’m officially late to see.

Good luck everyone!

whitershadeofpale · 13/10/2020 21:59

So still no sign of AF but the digital test today said not pregnant so 🤷‍♀️

Vicki1990 · 13/10/2020 23:07

@whitershadeofpale oh how odd! What type of test are you using?

OP posts:
whitershadeofpale · 13/10/2020 23:51

It was a clear blue digital (I got it in a set with the others from amazon). I think I’ll wait a few days and then get another one if there’s no sign.

whitershadeofpale · 14/10/2020 13:47

AF arrived Thai morning, I’m never usually late but I’m sure my uterus was just having a laugh at my expense 😉.

I feel fine about it as it was expected, and tbh it was a pretty half hearted try this month. I do want to get pg but don’t want to put too much pressure on so going to take it easy this month. I can see already how easy it would be to become consumed with it.

AMS19 · 14/10/2020 13:50

@whitershadeofpale my AF arrived too so we are cycle buddies!!
It was my first cycle off the pill and a perfect 28 days - can't believe it!! Super excited to start properly TTC now

adogisforlife91 · 14/10/2020 14:43

Hi - just checking back in

@Vicki1990 glad to see your OPKs started to progress! I know what you mean with the app giving different readings each time. I try to ignore the actual score it gives and just use it to see the progression. It will then be clear which one has a line darker than the control.

AF due for me on Friday and I've got FRER tests arriving from amazon today. Going to be so hard not to test early, I just want to know! I haven't had any noticeable symptoms so trying not to get my hopes up :(

Vicki1990 · 14/10/2020 14:54

Ooh will keep my fingers crossed for you! Let us know how you get on!

Yes the app is annoying! I eventually had 3 days of consistent positives so ended up dtd 5 days in a row, they are starting to fade now thank god, I'm knackered! Not sure when I ovulated because of that (or if I even did) so I'm either 1/2/3dpo. I know I am going to be awful and want to test early, kudos to those that wait!
