Hi everyone!

I'm currently on my first period after being on the pill for 15 years. The last 5 years I have taken it constantly with no break due to painful and heavy periods so I'm not expecting this journey to be a quick or easy one!

Hubby is 34 and I am 30, ttc our first and hoping to share the journey with some of you lovely ladies here so please feel free to join!

Hi @KJS20 that is super exciting! Were you on the pill?

I'm CD20 after stopping the pill. Just waiting for my first proper period!

Purpleflowers21 · 06/10/2020 14:50

@ErrolFinn We’re ttc but I’m not tracking ovulation or anything for the same reason, don’t want to become too obsessed with it! Sorry I can’t help with the seven seas vitamins as I haven’t took them myself, but I have read on other threads on here that people have said the same about it lengthening their cycles. X

Purpleflowers21 · 06/10/2020 14:53

@KJS20 we’ve just started ttc last week too! I’m taking folic acid and vitamin d. I know what you mean, we just have no idea when it will happen! I’ve only just come off the pill after 12 years so no idea if it will take me longer or not x

Purpleflowers21 · 06/10/2020 14:55

@AMS19 when are you due AF? Mines 23rd assuming cycles are back to normal after coming off the pill, it’s even crazier not knowing when to expect AF isn’t it x

KJS20 · 06/10/2020 14:58

@AMS19 it is exciting isn’t it and quite nerve wracking! Especially not being able to tell people in real life. Not sure if people are telling friends / family that they are trying? I’ve been off the pill for a couple of years now, wasn’t getting on with it at all but had been taking it for 10+ years.

AMS19 · 06/10/2020 15:07

@Purpleflowers21 if I have a normal cycle (not gonna happen) then it would be due 15th-17th. But not holding put much hope for a 28-30 day cycle 1!

@KJS20 I have told a very small number of people but not many. havent told family as I dont want the pressure. Thats why I love it on here! So good you haven't been on the pill.. you are miles ahead of me then and hopefully will fall quite quickly!

Puffin85 · 06/10/2020 17:21

@KJS20 Hi! 🙂 Envious you've been off the pill for a while. Have you been tracking cycles at all? Quite handy if you already have an idea of when you ovulate. No idea what my natural cycle is like, how many days it is etc as I never paid that much attention to it before going on the pill. I did have a period every month, but that's all I can remember! Fingers crossed you might have a head start on those of us coming off the pill.

AMS19 · 06/10/2020 17:28

My OPK today was an absolute negative. CD19 and not a hint of LH in sight 🙄

Planning to TTC this month for the first time, anyone else?
KJS20 · 06/10/2020 17:31

@Purpleflowers21 @AMS19 hopefully it’ll happen quickly for all of us, pill or no pill. It’s so nice to be able to chat about it all :)

What other supplements are people taking?perhaps I’ll get some vitamin D as well, although am also taking B12 as I’m veggie so don’t want to overload on supplements!

@Puffin85 I’ve just been tracking using the health app on iPhone for the last couple of months. It’s only in the last week or so that I’ve started to look into cycle lengths / ovulation dates etc - it’s a whole new world! Have you been using any other apps / trackers you’d recommend?

Puffin85 · 06/10/2020 18:03

@KJS20 I was initially thinking about using femometer. I've downloaded the app and have got some cheap opks from amazon. But actually I might just use a real life notebook/diary and keep my own notes. Did try out a few opks and took photos with femometer, but going to stop for now and wait until I notice any changes to cm... I had no idea before how interesting and important cm is before now! Or how many people upload photos of their cm to the Internet haha.

I'm taking pregnacare conception and coq10. The coq10 is mainly because I'm paranoid hehe. Also trying to exercise more, eat lots of veg etc.

@AMS19 can't remember if you said if you'd noticed any cm changes at all? I wouldn't freak out too much about the LH yet, apparently the level can vary widely between women so maybe you'll just get a more sudden peak when you do ovulate? Hard not to get obsessed though!

AMS19 · 06/10/2020 18:25

@Puffin85i don't get any EWCM 😭😭 well...not that I have noticed. I wouldnt mind if there was a slight line but there is literally no line at all. But it is still early days and I could still have some of the pill in my system - I was on the combined pill and it stops your body producing LH apparently!

@KJS20 I like fetility friend for charting but premom for OPK storage. I would reccomend them both. I use them to chart BBT every morning

lilacflower12 · 06/10/2020 18:32

@AMS19 I’m sure something will happen soon, like you said it might take time.

@KJS20 I’m using Premom and fermometer and I find fermometer easier to use!

I got my first ‘ high’ OPK reading this afternoon so hopefully that means it’s all moving in the right direction for me Smile

Puffin85 · 06/10/2020 18:40

Yep definitely early days @AMS19 at least you know the pill is probably the reason for the lack of LH which means your body will adjust eventually 🙂

AMS19 · 06/10/2020 18:55

@lilacflower12 @Puffin85
You are both 100% right. But can't help but want things to hurry up and get moving! Really regret not stopping the pill earlier 🤦‍♀️

@Vicki1990 how you getting on?

Puffin85 · 06/10/2020 19:23

@lilacflower12 ohh just saw your comment about the positive OPK. So exciting!! Time for lots of baby sex. It's probably just bake off and a cup of tea on my schedule tonight 😂

Vicki1990 · 06/10/2020 19:44

Hi ladies!

@AMS19 all good over here!

Finished my period on Sunday, only had a 4 day period which is unusual for me, having said that it's been 5 years so could be the new norm! Either that or it was actually a withdrawal bleed, I had a light bleed for a few days 2 weeks after coming off which I thought would've been my withdrawal but maybe not!

Either way I shall be using opks this month to see what's actually happening!

I'm due to ovulate (if I do) around 16th 17th this month according to my apps, anyone else?

I'm a bit undecided about vitamins etc, I've seen mixed reviews some people get on really well with them, others seem to have really long cycles with them so may give it a few months before we try them, but open to suggestions on what has worked for you guys!

AMS19 · 06/10/2020 20:26

@Vicki1990 think it is quite normal for the periods to be quite light when they start so hopefully a proper period!! Thats amazing if it is, now your first proper cycle can begin 🙂

adogisforlife91 · 06/10/2020 20:32

@vicki1990 I've been taking vitamin D and folic acid and had no effect on cycle length. From reading Various MN threads it seems like the specific pregnancy ones (Pregnacare, or seven seas trying for a baby etc) are the ones that can change your cycle. Guess they have a whole lots of other things in them?

ErrolFinn · 07/10/2020 13:59

@vicki1990 I have been taking the seven seas ones and they have definitely made my cycles longer. I was considering stopping them but I'm concerned that the change will cause even more change with my cycles.

I use the health app on iPhone to track period, but I found out Premom is more accurate few months ago. I prefer the premom app, it gets all the guess work done.

Vicki1990 · 10/10/2020 13:03

So I've started using my opks, one of my apps says from today onwards my chances increase so started testing along with this, got so excited yesterday as there was a faint line on one so thought things may be starting to happen, then today nothing! 🙈not holding out any hopes of ovulating so quickly after coming off the pill but couldn't help but get excited at the sight of the albeit very faint line yesterday!

OP posts:
whitershadeofpale · 10/10/2020 13:07

So what does this mean? There’s a blue mark about half way up the window (it’s pretty clear in this pic) and there’s also a very faint line (I couldn’t get the pic to focus and show up).

I read about evap lines last night but aren’t sure as the line on the first test was blue not grey (but very thin) urghhhhhh!

Planning to TTC this month for the first time, anyone else?
Puffin85 · 10/10/2020 13:17

@whitershadeofpale oh that is odd. How frustrating! I think I can actually see the vertical line in the test window if I really zoom in? But I think the clear blue tests don't have the best reputation. Have you got another test you can use?

@Vicki1990 aw. I've been getting lines too on the OPKs but no progression either. Fingers crossed we'll both get a positive one soon

whitershadeofpale · 10/10/2020 13:20

@Puffin85 thanks, I only have a clear blue digital but it wouldn’t be too early to use. Doesn’t seem worth getting another one when I should just wait and see if AF comes on Monday.

Vicki1990 · 10/10/2020 13:35

@whitershadeofpale looks to me like it's got wet as it's horizontal? I'll be honest, when we weren't trying I had a false positive on a blue dye test and only use red dye tests now. I have got some cheapies from amazon, might be worth trying a red dye test? Fingers crossed for you though lovely how exciting!!

@Puffin85 will keep my fingers crossed for you, when are you due to ovulate?
