@sunflowersaremyfav93 I don't think that OPK means you are ovulating as as positive has to be at least as dark or darker than the control line. You will generally get some sort of faint line at any point in your cycle as we all tend to have low levels of the LH hormone throughout out cycles. Just keep POAS and tracking them till they get darker 👍

Welcome to the newbies 😊❤️

TheNewMrsW · 06/09/2020 01:27

Oh and @Bells3032 glad you are feeling positive about the SA and I am with you on the diet train, could do with shaving a few points off my own bmi! That said I was round at a friends tonight for takeaway and Prosecco 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄 but then again it was the first time since lockdown I've been socialising with friends rather than family!

mackjm20 · 06/09/2020 09:21

@HotelBravoSierra welcome :) so exciting that you have decided to try ntnp :) sorry to hear that it might be a more complicated journey really hope you get your bfp soon :) so glad you have decided to join us:)

@Clouless so glad the appointment went well! I love that your dh is excited that’s so nice :) don’t worry you will be totally fine and at least have this group as we are all scared/ excited too :)

@Bells3032 I am so happy that you are happy! So glad that you will be able to start the potential journey for ivf now you know :) that is such a good idea re the specialist advice first :) good luck with the diet I’m trying really hard too and think @TheNewMrsW mentioned she was as well so maybe we can all try and keep each other on track :) oo and @sunflowersaremyfav93 too :)

@Cupcakecafe welcome :) there are some may/June starters on here as well :) so sorry you have had to delay due to Covid:(

mackjm20 · 06/09/2020 09:25

@Randomness12 welcome :) so nice to have that age gap :) sounds like a good plan to get you on track for Christmas :)

@TheNewMrsW that sounds lovely got to enjoy yourself sometimes :) we are off out for a champagne Sunday roast today for our anniversary oops but my fertile window starts tues so have said from tomorrow I am back on calorie counting and no alcohol!

Eek first ‘ntnp’ fertile window I’m so apprehensive haha! Saying that due to work commitments I think we will dtd twice if lucky so at least I know it is a ntnp as if we were fully ttc I would be making plans to avoid anything in the window lol!

RandyGiles06 · 06/09/2020 09:56

@Bells3032 I’m glad the results were better than you thought they might be, so exciting that you can start to get a plan together now! I always think the pictures you get in IVF where the baby is a tiny little egg are so cool to be able to show your child when they are older Smile

So exciting about the ladies doing NTNP! How do you do it? Do you just try not to think about ovulation at all, or do you secretly know all of that but just not tell hubby Wink

Good luck to all those dieting, I am starting tomorrow too, I was shocked at how much your weight is focussed on with my first pregnancy, whilst I didn’t have any actual complications, it seemed to be discussed a lot haha. I am quite heavy so I won’t be able to get into a healthy BMI range by December but I hoped if I can show I’ve lost a good amount of weight since last time it might work in my favour... I hope!

Bells3032 · 06/09/2020 10:01

Thanks guys for all the support. I am struggling a little bit with the news we will not have any realistic chance of conceiving naturally but it's definately better than the worst we feared. it's still a rocky path ahead.

Just hard to accept. the women in my family are famously "one hit wonders" they always seem to get pregnant first time with no difficulty so until i met DH I assuemd it would be the same.

Also i am terrified of needles haha

mackjm20 · 06/09/2020 10:03

@RandyGiles06 so we are ntnp as of this month. Basically back to the previous thread original plan was nov- I’ve been impatient and begged for sept haha then dh was excited for sept and I was so nervous I tried to delay (all levels of crazy)

So the compromise was ntnp- in all honesty I’ve been tracking my cycle so I know approx window I haven’t done any opks which I will do when we are fully ttc so it’s somewhere in the middle of ntnp and ttc- although dh doesn’t want to know any dates at all:) just to go with the flow which I’m okay with :)

Ah good luck with the diet :) that’s the same as me I know my bmi won’t be under 25 but just trying to reduce it as much as poss :)

Mybobowler · 06/09/2020 10:05

Hello everyone! Late jumping back on here, but what a lovely bunch you all are!

Very excited for all the NTNP-ers on here. That's how DD came about (I have v short cycles and a short LP, so I had convinced myself it would take forcer to conceive - by some miracle, I was pregnant within two weeks!) - I'm back to having convinced myself again that #2 will take forever, so I'm a bit envious of those of you who are going for it now. Good luck!

Thanks to those of you who suggested vitamins. I've got myself some Floradix and folic acid, which I'm hoping will sort of my fatigue if nothing else.

Must be the hormones, but I can't stop thinking about babies the last few days. I've just had to tear myself away from the baby name board 😅

mackjm20 · 06/09/2020 10:08

@Bells3032 it’s totally understandable to grieve the loss of the natural conception. You have been so strong for your dh. I am so sorry and if we can support in anyway will always be here to listen.

The positive is that there is a chance with ivf which is brilliant news. Also hopefully as your side are usually quick to conceive hopefully this gives a strong hope for the ivf taking well :)

Sending so much love your way x

mackjm20 · 06/09/2020 10:13

@Mybobowler welcome :) so nice to hear your dd was conceived ntnp although that 2 weeks makes me a tad nervous lol! Was hoping ntnp may tie in with my nov plan haha! (Will obviously be so happy either way just gives me more time to lose lbs)

When are you delaying ttc until? Imagine if you get a quick bfp again :) fingers crossed :)

Omgosh I’ve been obsessing this weekend haha! I already have my girls and boys name fully decided nursery planned baby budget organised lmfao! I have lost the plot!

Mybobowler · 06/09/2020 10:22

@mackjm20 hah yes, it was a bit of a surprise, to say the least. I think my partner decided there and then to take every self-diagnosis I made with a pinch of salt! Good luck, NTNP is a good way to get used to TTC without all the pressure.

I'm hoping we'll be able to start around October or November. There's a bit of complication around my DP's job, but we're hoping it'll be more secure in the next 6 weeks or so. And then it's go-time! I'm not sure he realises that I want to start TTC as soon as that... maybe I need to have another conversation with him?!

DaenarysStormborn · 06/09/2020 10:25

Hi! Is it too late to join? Dh and I managed to get married this summer (small COVID wedding) and are going to start trying in December/January as we'd like a Sept baby onwards as it'll make mat leave so much easier (I'm a teacher). Had to switch my medication to a pregnancy safe one too which happened in July - it should all be washed out but they recommend waiting 6 months to ensure no problems. I'm a bit overweight so need to keep going with my diet and start vitamins - probably from mid October? Sending baby dust to all of you Smile

mackjm20 · 06/09/2020 10:30

@Mybobowleryea I defo don’t feel stressed doing it this way and if af comes because I haven’t been tracking etc and barely dtd it will be expected :) fingers crossed dh job works out:) eek Oct/nov that’s so exciting :)

@DaenarysStormborn welcome! Congratulations on the summer wedding:) dec/ Jan is exciting and perfect timing for mat leave for you by the sounds :) sounds like you have done all the right prep and will be good to go :) good luck :) x

Cupcakecafe · 06/09/2020 18:00

sounds exciting for all of you

Which vitamins do you recommend?
I also need to lose some weight, so hopefully by May I can have lost quite a bit. My daughter was a c section, so i want to increase my chances of vbac. From what I've read if my bmi is more than 30 again they'll be less happy for me to try.

Ideally I want to lose about 2 stone, but I'm not sure how realistic that is considering its going to be Christmas in the middle

Baker0104 · 06/09/2020 18:00

Bit of a newbie but what does ntnp mean? Lol

Bells3032 · 06/09/2020 18:05

@Baker0104 ntnp means not trying, not preventing. So basically pulling the goalie but not actively trying with tests etc.

Baker0104 · 06/09/2020 18:21

@Bells3032 ah perfect thank you!

Pebbleinthesand · 06/09/2020 21:00

Glad you got the results and are feeling optimistic @bells3032.

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I absolutely rave about slimming world to anyone who'll listen 😂. It's the oy thing that I've ever been able to stick to long term. I've been doing intermittent fasting alongside it a couple of days a week to give me the boost I needed to get to my target weight and I'm hoping I'll be able to continue that within the next month to get another half a stone off so that my bmi is healthier. I ran my first half marathon yesterday so I'm hoping that will have helped me to get a big loss this week.

I know there are a few of us trying to reduce our bmi before TTC including myself but it's lost meaning for me a bit. I've always weighed heavy for my size and having lost weight I'm now a size 10 and an active runner but my bmi is still 25.5 so could do with being a bit lower if I don't want the gestational diabetes lecture again like I got with DD.

I'm back in school and teaching three days a week from tomorrow after not been in the classroom (apart from a 3 week stint teaching key worker kids) since March so I'm definitely looking forward to the return of my normal routine. Hopefully it'll stop me from obsessing about getting pregnant and exactly how pregnant I'll be at every event from hen parties to weddings to Christmas to Birthdays for the next year 😂

Hey everyone...I missed a lot since the end of the old thread!
Well my first proper month of TTC failed...AF turned up today. Been a shitty weekend all round.
Had our pre wedding photoshoot yesterday and I am devastated with how I look on the photos...my face looks so fat. I honestly don't even look like me. I don't know if it's my hormones or stress but I've spent the past 24 hours very tearful...then AF turned up to top the weekend off!
Hope you've all had a much nicer one xx

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 07/09/2020 06:29

@Bells3032 Sending you love and as @mackjm20 said, we're all here for you if you want to offload at any point.

@TheNewMrsW Ooh I had a look at it starts with an egg, thinking of getting it! Let me know how you get on with it.

@Pebbleinthesand sometimes BMI numbers really blow my mind! But I'm with you on that, SW really is good, I used to eat whatever I wanted and it'd be on plan.. can't remember why I stopped now?! Read a lot of benefits about the Fasting too, my colleague has PCOS and she swears by it for managing her weight and hormones.

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 07/09/2020 06:31

@butterfly5291 Hi butterfly! I'm sure you looked absolutely lovely, it's so easy for us to feel like utter crap before AF.., I often feel absolutely gross, bloated, fat, spotty... the lot and then bang .. AF arrives and I feel normal again. You'll look back on those photos when you're a bit older and think .. damn I looked good, why did I not think it at the time? I always look back at photos and think, why did I think I looked fat at the time because I'm def bigger now!

butterfly5291 · 07/09/2020 08:54

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I don't know if it just my hormones, I've woke up again today feeling like I could burst into tears any second. Got such a busy few weeks in work could do without the stress. Also disappointed AF showed up... I'd felt sick all last week so was hoping that was an early sign. I know this TTC business can take months or years but was secretly hoping to get pregnant first proper month if trying so everyone who told me not worry about not being able to have a baby could laugh in my face!

In relation to your OPKs I would just keep trying, I missed my peak both months I've tried but because I temp track I could see I had ovulated. Which brand are you using? From my other thread ice found out that one step ones are rubbish and femometer are the best.

@Pebbleinthesand do you find slimming world still works when you have so little weight to lose? I lost a stone in the end with it but took months. I'm only 9st9lb but at the top of my BMI range because I'm only 5ft2...if I go up to 9st10 it tells me to lose half a stone. I looked at calorie counting but I could only have 1200 a day and just don't think I'll be healthy doing that.
Any tips from those trying to lose weight?

@Bells3032 just caught up on your posts, so sorry you will have to try IVF. Are the drs giving you support and advice on the next steps? Are there's other threads on here you can get support from too... people who are going through the same things?
