Hiya, can I join please?

We're ttc this month for the first time! I'm so excited! I had a chat with my GP a couple of months ago to go through my medications etc, I've had 2 normal periods now so my cycle is pretty much back to normal, been taking folic acid and vitamin d etc. Slightly dreading coming off my restless legs medication tho! Eeekkkk!

mackjm20 · 03/09/2020 15:49

@Bells3032 ah sorry to hear that! Such a shame they messed you around hopefully they will come back to you before Monday. Are you feeling any better?

@Baker0104 welcome :) exciting that you are ttc this month :)

RandyGiles06 · 03/09/2020 16:50

@Baker0104 welcome, how exciting! I don’t envy you coming off the restless legs meds, I had it in my third trimester of my first! Can they change it to something pregnancy friendly? If not get a yoga ball!

What has everyone done about smear tests? I’ve had a letter for mine just because it’s due but I will likely be on my period and I wanted to TTC straight after that particular period so not sure if I should ring and rearrange or not!

TheNewMrsW · 03/09/2020 17:12

@RandyGiles06 I would see if you can rearrange for straight after your period, as if you catch first cycle I'm not sure you could then have it whilst preggers, and best not to put it off just in case.

TheNewMrsW · 03/09/2020 17:18

Ok feeling smug as I have worked out twice this week 😂 workouts and me are not the best of friends, I often enjoy it when I do it but getting up the will to do it is the battle at times. Hopefully a few times and week, watching what I eat and drinking less wine will help with those last few lbs.

I am impatiently awaiting AF so I can begin charting properly! CD34 but that's not unusual for me, they are usually between 30-35 day cycles. Her last visit was slightly earlier than normal on my wedding day (I literally started bleeding at midnight ) 🙄 and now that I desperately want her to show no sign!!! Typical

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 03/09/2020 18:36

@CookieMonster3001 I agree with the others, you might not fall straight away and the wedding might not be able to go ahead so I wouldn't base those factor on your life changing decision to start a family.

Why is it the more I tell myself I need to be healthy and curb the sweet stuff, I then want chocolate... I just got myself one of those large bars and I'm almost the whole way through... oh man!!!

Baker0104 · 03/09/2020 18:48

@mackjm20
Thank you, I'm so excited but also a birtit nervous? Is that normal? Lol

@RandyGiles06 unfortunately not! The best they could suggest was taking a low dose of codeine on the days that it's bad - the risks of that are far lower than any RLS medication apparently but obviously not a solution for every day. Not really sure how I'm going to cope tbh lol. The yoga ball is a good shout though! Assuming it's helped you? I've heard so many suggestions but never that one Smile

RandyGiles06 · 03/09/2020 18:59

@Baker0104 yes it absolutely did, I was never off it as it was pretty much the only thing that helped Grin I do get restless legs occasionally anyway but it really stepped up a gear those last few months!

We are waiting because I have a commitment in the summer that would be ok (ish) pregnant but not possible with a tiny baby, and with my first we were lucky enough to catch on quickly so I daren’t start TTC until the right time but it’s sooooo tempting to just think screw it I’m starting now!

Baker0104 · 03/09/2020 19:37

@RandyGiles06 right well that's the next thing to order from amazon 😂
Ooo it's exciting isn't it, I always think there's never a 'right' time for a baby so just go for it! 😊

Amy929292 · 03/09/2020 21:19

Wow so many messages - good to know there's quite a few of us planning for TTC!

@rosiefl don't worry, I'm forever looking at baby stuff and daydreaming about when we have a baby even though at best it's 10 months away!!

@TTCWC2 how we decided to TTC - I've wanted children for years but my fiancé is younger than me (he's 24 and I'm nearly 28) so we opted for after our wedding which is 30 days away. Quite practically as it seemed like far away enough for my OH to get his head round, but soon enough for me as once the wedding is out the way there is no reason to me to wait!

@CookieMonster3001 that's a hard one to decide whether to go ahead with your wedding in February. We're going ahead with our wedding in October but if that had to be cancelled for any reason then I think I'd just say f*ck it let's go ahead and TTC and if I have a bump then I have a bump. It's hard though - I wish we had a crystal ball to know how long it would take to conceive so we could time TTC!! It's the balance of if it takes 6 months or a year I'd start now but some people conceive first time!!

@TheNewMrsW glad you had a lovely wedding despite Covid - I'm going ahead on October 3rd unless I legally can't! @Upupupintheair my fiancé and I are also going through a wedding in this uncertain time with all the fun that involves! We do final numbers on the 19th so then we'll know what our wedding will look like, then it's baby making time with no protection as of our wedding day so I'm naively hoping for a honeymoon baby but well aware it'll probably take a lot longer!

Love to all :)

Pebbleinthesand · 03/09/2020 21:26

My god ladies you've all been busy today! I've just logged on and had to scroll for ages to find the last post I read 😂.

@TTCWC2 our decision was mostly based around age gaps since this we are trying for #2 so probably now hugely helpful to you. Covid put me back by about 4 months as I was about to book to have my coil removed when lockdown hit and the world ground to a halt. The last few months have taught me that you can't keep putting your life on hold and I'd you waited for the right time to have a baby, you'd never have one.

@bells3032 and @mackjm20 I would definitely recommend cutting the caffeine fizzy drink before you're pregnant. DH and I were both addicted to Pepsi Max before I got pregnant with DD and not having that paired with first trimester tiredness had me falling asleep on the sofa before my tea every evening. DH would come home, cook tea, wake me up and then I'd go to bed 😂
Good luck tomorrow Bells. I hope it's a happy result for you both.

@rosiefl if you're not 'normal' I don't think I am either. I'm obsessed! It doesn't help that my DD is baby obsessed too and keeps asking me if I've bought her a baby yet 😂 Mama's working on it 😂

@CookieMonster3001 that's a tough one. I think I'd be tempted to go for it if it's onlny one month you were waiting, especially if its only a maybe now. Would you be annoyed come Feb if you'd waited and the wedding didn't happen?
I know what you mean about announcing at Christmas. I've already got DDs announcing she's going to be a bit sister idea planned out in my head and Pinterest board 😂

@Upupupintheair welcome and it sounds like you've got it all planned out. The only thing I would say would maybe be get your coil out earlier because it may take a month or two for your periods to go back to normal and if there's a second wave you might be put back even further by having your coil in still like I was.

@RandyGiles06 a few people on here had mentioned about having them early so I called up my doctors today as mine was due November and they actually booked me in for this aft so all done now. Maybe call and see if you can get booked in earlier?

I'm desperately trying to keep healthy and exercise as much as possible before getting pregnant. I'm at my target weight (slimming world) but could actually do to lose another 5ish lbs for my bmi to be healthier. I had gestational diabetes with DD so I desperately don't want to repeat that again.

I feel like I've written an essay replying to so many people 😂

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 04/09/2020 00:08

@Pebbleinthesand I was thinking about starting slimming world again, I did it at the start of the year and half a stone which got my to 10.7 which I felt very comfortable at, my idea weight being 10... just wondered what you thought about the diet, they make you syn olive oil and healthy fats which I've read are really beneficial?

Also ladies - I'm starting the OPks tomorrow, I've downloaded the pre mom app.. is there a certain time of day to pee on the stick of us it first pee of the day?

Bells3032 · 04/09/2020 06:51

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I think sw is the only one you can keep doing when pregnant. Not sure on ww. Deff no keto.

Opk shouldn't use the first pee of the day. Any other time of day is fine but try to be consistent. I got recommended early eve as long as you haven't peed for a couple of hours

OP posts:
Pebbleinthesand · 04/09/2020 07:16

@sunflowersaremyfav93 They're supported by the Royal Collage of Midwives and have seperate things for supporting pregnancy and breastfeeding. You do have to use syns for things like Olive oil or can use low cal alternatives. I've never had a problem using them but you do get 15syns a day so could spend a few on oil if you chose to.

Personally for me, the benefit of being 3 stone lighter this time around will outweigh not having Olive oil but I did have a lot to lose and was classed as obese, not just overweight.

If you're a target member when you fall pregnant then it's free for the whole of your pregnancy no matter what you put on and then you get a grace period afterwards to get back to a healthy weight without paying which will hopefully help me to manage my weight this time around when pregnant.

queenatom · 04/09/2020 09:50

Ooh, new thread and lots of new faces! Hi everyone!

Just getting caught up as work has been mad the past few days. Also had a hospital appointment this week for treatment for an eye condition I have (injection in the eyeball, grim) and because I'm off contraception I got a grilling as to whether I'm currently pregnant - it's 10 days since my last period, don't think that's mathematically possible!

@CookieMonster3001 personally, I would start trying earlier provided you're otherwise comfortable with the idea. As others have said, it may not happen immediately anyway and if your wedding does end up having to be pushed back you're then faced with the prospect of waiting even longer until any rescheduled wedding takes place (or dealing with the same quandary!)

CookieMonster3001 · 04/09/2020 10:13

Right ladies!! Me and hubby had a chat about this yesterday and we have decided that in October will be our 'practice' month. I am not going to mention anything about dates, ovulation etc (I will still track this) but I will just let nature take its course and we can DTD whenever we feel like it rather than planning around dates but with the exception that we scrap the withdrawal method. If it doesnt work, then November we will go firm with actual planning and actual trying. I am beyond excited and sooo nervous!

@bells3032 thats so annoying about the results! Hopefully you will get them today!

@thenewmrsw I was scared at first too and then one day the video just popped up on FB (its like it knows everything!!! its been showing me videos of prams recently) and I couldnt help but watch. Luckily it wasn't a scary one but one of a woman just acting like it was no big deal and 2 seconds later the baby was there. Secretly pray mine goes down like that, although every other video I watched after looked pretty painful so my chances are slim. Who am I kidding, we are going to be pushing a watermelon out our who-ha's, its not exactly going to be pain free!! LOL
Well done on the working out, I have done sweet f all this week. I blame AF

@macjm20 yep think she is totally over it now though, she has already moved into a new house with her fiance, so she feels married already. I think if it was up to her she would skip the whole thing and move swiftly onto the honeymoon and I don't blame her!! Im the same with one born, and I have to hide the videos from hubby and keep them on mute otherwise he would think I am a maniac! I really wish I could be as blase about it like he is!

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I know the feeling, I ate a massive share bar of chocolate to myself last week. Don't regret it at all!! (Ok maybe a little!) I believe with the cheapie OPKS they say its better to test in the PM. I usually try to test around 2-3pm and I try not to wee after my morning coffee and hold it until I test. I always find this annoying as your supposed to keep hydrated for CM, but your supposed to limit your water for OPKS!

Welcome to all the newbies!! @Upupupintheair @RandyGiles06 @Baker0104 our little preconception family is growing!! We need a post that details everyone here and when they are looking to start TTC!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 04/09/2020 10:42

@Bells3032 thanks Bells, just did one as I'm CD 10, I put the photo on the app too and it gave me an error message but I can see a faint line so maybe it's coming?! Added a picture too just in case. Maybe I should do another one later on around 3pm?

@Pebbleinthesand I made the mistake of using my syns for biscuits and sweet treats and stuck to fry light so maybe this time round I'll syn olive oil and nuts? It is such a good plan, I know people that have lost soo much weight on it, love that you can have a plate of pasta and it's on plan.. and you're so right losing the weight outweighs having to syn the olive oil.

@CookieMonster3001 That's exciting Cookie, you've got the tracking down to a T, so hopefully you can have some fun in your practice month and do a lovely announcement at Christmas time... the dream! I'm so excited for you.

Preconception planners - still planning
Bells3032 · 04/09/2020 11:39

So I took an ovulation test this morning...thought i'd take one every few days post coil removal to try and gauge my cycle and it had a very faint line. My app (ferometre) said my LH levels were 13%. which means i am coming up for ovulation. hoping it means my cycles will get back to normal fast. Also hope it means my period is in like 2 - 2.5 weeks as have a trip booked in 3.5 weeks and want to be able to go to the spa!

Husband's SA has been moved to this pm which means his appointment is now not til Monday. I hope they send us the results in the meantime if not i will be ** all weekend

OP posts:
CookieMonster3001 · 04/09/2020 13:47

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I get that with my OPKs when the line is super faint or barely existent, I also have the same OPKs as you (one step). After reading tons of reviews online, they are apparently quite common in giving a faint result, so I ended up buying some easy@home ones this month as they are supposed to be clearer. I found with the one step one, I never really got a proper positive. The highest % oh LH I got was around 30-40ish and kept saying low, and I had to manually change it to high.

@Bells3032 that's so annoying that they have moved the appointment again! fingers crossed ovulation happens for you and period comes before you go away!

RandyGiles06 · 04/09/2020 17:46

@sunflowersaremyfav93 @CookieMonster3001i used those OPK’s during the month I now know I conceived my first and never got anything more than a faint line, but obviously I did ovulate as that little egg is currently destroying my living room! Grin

Has anyone told their friends/family they are TTC soon? Nobody knows we will be yet! Had to hide my preconception vitamins earlier!

gems05 · 04/09/2020 17:57

@RandyGiles06 we have made a conscious decision to keep TTC quiet as we'd rather be able to announce at 12 wks if/when we are expecting.
I can imagine the families probably already think it's what we're doing after we just moved out of the in-laws after 15mths being there. But tbh it's just so we have our own space again 🤗

TheNewMrsW · 04/09/2020 19:11

We haven't told anyone our plans though they know we want kids and that we don't want to wait too long so they probably will suspect, though we're not starting just yet

I just lost my sh*t at DH for no apparent reason so hopefully that means AF is on the way 🤣 and then I can start my first proper chart from CD1

Bells3032 · 04/09/2020 19:45

We've told our parents and my sister and best friend (who is also planning to stay ttc at the same time by pure coincidence) know. But a lot of that is cos of the fertility issues and thr support we've needed along the way. We agreed to tell those people once we have a bfp but everyone else waits 12 weeks.

OP posts:
TheNewMrsW · 04/09/2020 20:02

We would probably tell our parents before 12 weeks (they'd guess anyway if I wasn't drinking for a prolonged period of time lol) and I would also probably tell my best friends as they both told me well before 12 weeks. I feel like if I had a m/c I would want that support and be able to talk about it with my besties, there is often too much secrecy and loneliness about it I think, but that's just my personal feeling. Everyone else we would wait until 12 weeks.
