I LOVE that we’re all unifying around toast! Ah the simple pleasures...

@sunflowersaremyfav93 Just a thought, but are you clear when you’d be liable to pay the £500? Because if you can cancel beforehand without having to pay anything maybe still go on the list, just in case the NHS scan gets postponed. Only a thought. Otherwise definitely go for Rome instead! It is REALLY cold in Jan though, so make sure you wrap up warm!!

@Curiosity101 thanks for your message. I’m doing okay, and know that it’s not as if I’m in a bad situation. What feels really hard is not feeling able to talk to friends/family while I wait. I know I could, but if it’s a “no” I don’t want their disappointment on top of my own. Does that make sense? But it helps so much to talk with you guys :)

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 13/10/2020 10:27

@BeeBuzzz Gosh I didn't think about it getting postponed..do you think it would get postponed due to covid again?

BeeBuzzz · 13/10/2020 12:00

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I would hope not, I just thought you might want to hedge your bets (so long as it doesn’t cost anything!)

Curiosity101 · 13/10/2020 12:02

@CookieMonster3001 I'm so excited for you. This could be your month! ☺️

@BeeBuzzz That does absolutely make sense. I'm glad we can be here for you 😊 and here's to hoping your DH figures things out sooner rather than later.

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I hadn't thought about cancellations either. If this year is anything to go by I don't think we can accurately predict anything. But if they did cancel your scan then is it likely the private one would still go ahead?

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 13/10/2020 12:12

@BeeBuzzz @Curiosity101 Really good point, I could book the scan and I think as long as I cancel in advance I don't pay anything. I think I'm going to do that actually... I couldn't deal with it being cancelled on NHS and then being lumbered. Thanks so much for raising that point!! X

BeeBuzzz · 13/10/2020 12:21

Cheers @Curiosity101. It’s great to have support... especially when I’m literally fighting the urge to buy a baby grow right now!! Hahaha

Pebbleinthesand · 13/10/2020 12:26

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I use Ovia fertility to track but that's just based on my periods. I've not ventured into ovulation tests and temping yet.

A trip to Rome sounds like a lovely idea and would give you something to focus on and look forward to that's not linked to everything baby making.

Thanks @CookieMonster3001. How many DPO are you planning on testing on? AF isn't due until Saturday which is 14DPO based on my app.

Curiosity101 · 13/10/2020 12:57

@BeeBuzzz To be fair, even if your DH was in board and you had a fixed date to start TTC I still reckon now might be a bit early to start buying things 😆. The first thing we bought was when I was 16weeks pregnant and we went to have the gender scan.

@Pebbleinthesand Exciting 😊 when are you planning to test?

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 13/10/2020 13:06

@Pebbleinthesand Ovia is meant to be one of the most accurate so I've heard!
And yes 100% need something non-baby related. We get our pub on 8 Nov so we're gonna see how we feel once we've had him for a bit.

@BeeBuzzz So about 3/4 months ago I couldn't help myself and bought some really cute baby bits in Zara and thought, I'll keep those hidden away for when the time comes... soon realised that it was a very impulsive thing to do and returned it all. My mum actually said to me don't do that you'll jinx it! 😂

BeeBuzzz · 13/10/2020 13:47

@Curiosity101@sunflowersaremyfav93 Haha yes, I’m not actually going to do it, it’s more about wanting to do something!

CookieMonster3001 · 13/10/2020 14:52

@sunflowersaremyfav93 hopefully there will be no cancellations but @BeeBuzzz is right! It is worth looking into and then at least you have options! Also not long till you get your pup!! how exciting!

@Pebbleinthesand I will probably test around 11DPO but not stressing over it too much (well trying not to anyway). I am chomping down on pineapple everyday though, haha! I love pineapple and if it does help with implantation then even better. I didn't realise people don't usually eat the core. I have always done that when I eat pineapple..

Curiosity101 · 13/10/2020 15:14

@BeeBuzzz Do you have any pinterest boards? Perhaps that might fill the baby planning gap? I found it was nice for getting ideas for the nursery. Things you might like to do to mark/remember your pregnancy. That kind of thing. 😊

@CookieMonster3001 Is it weird to eat the core? I'd never considered not eating it 🙈.

Pebbleinthesand · 13/10/2020 16:57

@Curiosoty101 I don't know when I'll test tbh. Tomorrow is 11 DPO so I am tempted to test tomorrow and tomorrow is exactly 4 years from when I found out I was pregnant with DD so I think I'd be even more gutted if it wa negative. I don't even know if my tests are good enough to pick anything up that early. They're only Internet cheapies.
I might wait until the weekend when AF is actually due. I feel so nervous about it 😬

AMS19 · 13/10/2020 20:26

Hey ladies! It has been a while!

How is still waiting TTC and who has now actually started TTC? I've completely lost who is at what stage!

I'm CD26 - not officially started trying yet but probably now would go for it if I ovulated. Currently not positive OPks and no sign of first proper AF. Originally planned to TTC in Dec but im already bored and further restrictions from covid has made me bring TTC forward!

Curiosity101 · 13/10/2020 21:25

@Pebbleinthesand fingers crossed for you whatever you choose.

@AMS19 I'm still waiting. DH says definitely not before February but I think he's coming around to my idea of January. Especially if we're still WFH/locked down.

This isn't at all TTC related, but I'm working on getting a qualification at work at the moment. I've been doing practice exams for the past 2 weeks now and seem to have plateaued at 69% on each exam. The pass mark varies in the say but is normally 72% 😭😭😭 Everyone says the practice exams are much harder than the real thing but I'm just not sure if I dare book the exam. I really really don't want to fail.

Clouless · 13/10/2020 22:10

@pebblesinthesand
Snap! AF due at the weekend here too. Don't think I'll be testing though- not feeling like it will be necessary. Maybe I'm odd. No idea what I'm doing tbh! The very idea of buying a pregnancy test makes me feel like a naughty teenager 🤣🤣

MsQueenInTheNorth · 14/10/2020 07:21

Hello everyone! Been off here for a little while as I think I’m a bit behind lots of you in the plan for starting trying (we’re still thinking January at the earliest) so I don’t have anything overly helpful to add! I’m still taking my multivitamin and trying to keep losing weight (23lb down so far!) but I don’t have any exciting new developments. I didn’t want to lose my place on the thread though so I thought I’d better check in Blush

I’m really sorry about the news from your appointment @sunflowersaremyfav93. You’ve had some brilliant advice on here and I hope you’re able to get your next scan done on schedule. I’ll have everything crossed for you!

Good luck to everyone now actively TTC or testing soon... it’s all very exciting!

Curiosity101 · 14/10/2020 08:09

@MsQueenInTheNorth we're not starting until at least January. I'm also losing weight in preparation. I'm going to weigh in on Friday but am currently 8lb down. 18lb to go until target weight 😅. Hoping to be 10lb down by Friday though 🤞

AMS19 · 14/10/2020 08:14

@MsQueenInTheNorth @Curiosity101 wow well done both of you with the weight loss!!!! Absolutely amazing!!!!

BeeBuzzz · 14/10/2020 08:47

@AMS19 I’m also waiting. I don’t have any date for TTC as I’m waiting on my DH. Lots of waiting!

@Curiosity101 your exam sounds super interesting! Is there a reason you don’t want to just give it a go and see?

@Clouless I completely get what you’re saying about the tests! I got totally drilled with the whole “if you get pregnant you’ll ruin your life” mantra as a kid, and it’s never quite left me haha.

Curiosity101 · 14/10/2020 11:14

@BeeBuzzz Just that it costs £115 to resit and although my employer would be paying I still don't want to get them to pay twice when I could just do a bit more revision. Also it'd be embarrassing to have to admit I failed it 😂

CookieMonster3001 · 14/10/2020 12:48

@Curiosity101 I don't know people talk about it as if they wouldn't usually eat the core and I am sitting here thinking, but I always do that, even when its super chewy!

Anyone else feeling so miserable these days because of the weather! It just really makes me feel meh and like I cant be bothered!!

Curiosity101 · 14/10/2020 13:05

@CookieMonster3001 I think I always eat pineapple once it's a bit over ripe. That's probably why I've never considered not eating the core. 🤷 I'm sure it won't do you any harm though ☺️ and I wasn't aware it was meant to help with implantation.

I've been thinking quite a bit about implantation and such. I will never know what caused my abruption, but I have always had really light periods. I do wonder if my lining isn't very thick or if there's anything I can do to improve our chances next time. I'm incredibly tempted to get a scan to check the thickness but I'm on two minds. 😕

Weatherwise I like it at the moment, I don't deal well with the heat. I'm not a huge fan of the wet days but I used to be very outdoorsy (pre baby) so I think so long as you dress for the weather you can have just as much fun. Bonus is that less people are outside so if you're going for a walk or to the park it's much quieter. Plus hot chocolate when you've got in from a cold crisp walk... Bliss. 😭 At least it is when you're not dieting 🤣. I don't like the nights drawing in, but that just means more snuggles and sofa time in our house.

CookieMonster3001 · 14/10/2020 15:33

@Curiosity101 I have also always had super short periods. My periods last a max of around 2 days, sometimes I start and finish on the same day. I would say my flow is normal, not super heavy but not light. I remember my younger sister scaring me a few years back saying I hope your short periods aren't a sign of thin lining and hope it doesn't affect you getting pregnant. I since went to see the doctor and she told me it was nothing to worry about and that as long as I have a bleed every month I shouldn't be concerned. Thinking back at it now, I wonder if she just said that because I wasn't TTC at the time, of if it genuinely isn't anything to worry about.
Pineapple core is rich in bromelain which is apparently a blood thinner and anti-inflammatory so its supposed to help drive blood to the uterus more efficiently (apparently!!) Figured it cant exactly hurt!

The hot chocolate sounds bloomin good right now!! I am absolutely frozen and OH still refuses to turn the heating on!! Tight bugger!

jessicalouise10 · 14/10/2020 16:46

Am I being mental..... or is there something there? 😳 Be honest I think my eyes are playing tricks!
