@MimiArm I'm sorry, everything must be reminding you of it still :( Is there a limit to how many cycles you're allowed to do on clomid btw?
I'm CD3 now so on to cycle 16. Today I've been thinking a lot about how this is my last shot at a 2021 baby - and with my Jan birthday that sort of means my last chance at a baby before my next birthday again. Nor particularly helpful thinking but just can't help it.

@MrsTwentyNine any luck with the docs? I forget if you've booked an appointment yet or not.

@paintfairy I'm sorry I completely missed your SA! That doc looks like it's got maybe a third fewer line items than OHs. God knows why each trust is looking at different criteria?

MimiArm · 15/03/2021 16:42

@Juno231 Thanks - yes. The limit is 6 cycles for Clomid and I already used 3 (got pregnant on the third). So this next cycle will be the fourth. Hence my panic as it was the only think making me ovulate.

Everything reminds of it still - I was in M&S yesterday in the home section and the last time I was there it was just before Xmas when we had just found out and I was have a sneaky browse through the baby clothes. How things have changed since then.

You spend all the time worrying about not being able to get pregnant - trust me, once you are, you're consumed by all the things that could go wrong. I can't even imagine how I will feel if I'm lucky enough to get pregnant again.

I'm thinking of going back for more fertility reflexology. Have you tried it? I got pregnant on the cycle after having it done so it's worth another shot as you never know!

paintfairy · 15/03/2021 17:37

Still no AF! Gah. Know it would be late.
@Juno231 I assume the second SA only had the same on, being it went to the same lab. Bizarre isn't it?
@MimiArm what you might find is (if you are lucky!) that you will ovulate by yourself now. Often after pregnancy hormones kind of reset. Some people after ivf manage to conceive naturally the second time. Its like you reset. So what you've been through might have given you a push. It would be amazing if that had happened because you then wouldn't have to worry about the clomid limit.

Juno231 · 16/03/2021 14:30

@MimiArm I haven't tried any reflexology or acupuncture but I think that's mainly because of lockdown dominating here. Once it eases I have a feeling I'll be trying everything I can!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 16/03/2021 14:45

@Juno231 @MimiArm I think I'd be willing to give those a go! Its odd but sometimes it's like you need a reset and whatever works would be good!

CD1 here. I called the hospital and I have to wait for them to call me and see if they can get me in. Before cd14 apparently (I assume before ovulation but I never ovulate that late, so I'm hoping it's not damaging to do it after?). So I've no idea when and if its getting done until they ring me. 🙄

Juno231 · 16/03/2021 16:28

@paintfairy You can't DTD from today until the hsg, remember that! Not even with protection. That's the annoying part if they end up doing it after ovulation - basically means you miss one cycle :/

OP posts:
paintfairy · 16/03/2021 16:43

@Juno231 no but if they end up not doing it this month, I'll miss 2! Why can't you do it with protection anyway?

Juno231 · 16/03/2021 17:00

@paintfairy they just don't want to risk you being pregnant and protection isn't as foolproof as abstaining. They'll ask if you have had any BD in the run up and if you say yes will refuse treatment (or at least per my local ccg!). The risk is that the dye then flushes the embryo out into your abdomen which I guess would be quite dangerous?

Why would miss two btw? If you don't do it this month you can just go ahead DTD as normal surely

OP posts:
paintfairy · 16/03/2021 17:39

@Juno231 I have to have a pregnancy test when I go too! If I don't hear from them at all, or until next week, it could be potentially too late to catch this month. I always ovulate early. Not that it seems to bloody matter, like any months missed makes a difference. 🤣 I'm just hoping they can do it. I don't want to sit and dread it for another month.

paintfairy · 17/03/2021 12:19

Got a date! Next Thursday. I'm just thankful we can get it out of the way. Interestingly there's no antibiotics like you had @Juno231 - so another thing that is completely random!

Juno231 · 24/03/2021 17:33

@paintfairy good luck for tomorrow! I have my follow up at 8.40am so let's hope it's a good day for us both :)

OP posts:
paintfairy · 24/03/2021 17:52

@Juno231 I did think it was funny we both have an appointment on the same day. 🤣 Mine isn't until lunch time though. I'm not looking forward to it, I'm not going to lie!

paintfairy · 31/03/2021 19:54

@MimiArm how are you now?
@MrsTwentyEight any progress?

I've now had my hsg and I got the blood results back today. So all good to go now. IUI is what's next, before we'll be eligible for ivf. We get 3 rounds of IUI on the nhs.

MrsTwentyNine · 03/04/2021 13:21

@paintfairy best of luck with everything!!

So I've been promoted at work and I've decided to hold of TTC for now at least until the summer :( I have been back and forth about this but I've decided I'll wait. I also ideally should be waiting 3 months after my second vaccine dose anyway which will take me to summer.

I'll be back in with the madness July / August time but I'm thinking of trying to book some fertility tests for then so I can check everything out at the same time. I hope I get to see you ladies on the other threads counting down to your mat leaves at that point!

Wishing all 3 of you all the best

MimiArm · 07/04/2021 17:36

@MrsTwentyNine Congrats on your promotion and hope all goes well over the next few months. Look forward to chatting later in the year x

@paintfairy - Hey. I am ... frustrated. I took my Clomid this cycle and am on CD21 and dont even think I've ovulated so feel like I've wasted a precious months worth. Only two more cycles worth left.

I had registered with a new fertility clinic that offer ovulation induction via injections of hcg and trigger shots and who also supply progesterone. That was 6 weeks ago and was told we would have our consultation appointment at the start of April. Rang them this morning as we haven't heard from them and was told that we aren't registered there or on any waiting list. The woman who was to "onboard" us went off sick a month ago and clearly did nothing with our forms and records beforehand. So we are only now joining the waiting list, which is now 2 months long. I could cry. Why does everything have to be an uphill struggle? I'm frustrated as well that I was referred to NHS nearly a year ago now as an urgent case and nothing. I'm sure you and @Juno231 were referred much later and you have both been seen, had tests etc. How can this be? I know different parts of the UK run to different timescales but it just seems so unfair. We've spent hundreds and hundreds so far and are nowhere. That was a long rant. Sorry! I'm just so incredibly fed up and desperate at this point.

How are you? When do you start IUI treatment? Anything new to report?

In other news, our house sale should complete in less than two weeks so we have a house move to do. At least that's something to be excited about.

paintfairy · 08/04/2021 09:51

@MrsTwentyNine Promotion sounds excellent! Delaying a few months won't hurt.
@MimiArm I can see why you are frustrated. You should have ovulated if you took it at the right time though, surely? Fingers crossed you just missed the signs. As for the clinic- that would have pissed me off, yes. But i think I would be kicking off and demanding not to be at the bottom of the waiting list, being it was their mistake? Complain! But at least you have clomid to try in the mean time. It might work. Life is such a battle isn't it? It is draining. That's why I never wanted it to come to this. Although so far its not been as bad as I thought. I do read people here seem to be on a long wait time for the NHS. It really varies. But not as long as you are saying. Have you chased that up? Made sure they haven't forgotten you?
The house move sounds good! At least something is happening. And you can get settled etc pre pregnancy! Hopefully this will be a better year for everything.

I'm waiting for AF so I can ring the hospital and see if we can start IUI this cycle. Should be Sunday/Monday i think?

Juno231 · 08/04/2021 10:40

@MimiArm I want to cry for you! That sounds incredibly frustrating and incompetent. I agree, everything seems to be an uphill battle where fertility help is concerned. Have you chased the NHS about your referral? They can be useless too so I'd want to make sure you didn't fall off their radar either 🙊

Are there any other clinics you could register with that don't have a 2 month waiting period?

@MrsTwentyNine congratulations on your promotion! That payrise will work out well with mat leave hopefully :) don't you worry, I'll still be here in July 😅

Cycle 17 now and I can't ttc this month as I have a laparoscopy due end of the month to see if they can find a reason for my unexplained infertility.

OP posts:
paintfairy · 19/04/2021 20:08

@MimiArm I've been thinking about you! Because I've been googling. 🤣

So I'm doing iui this cycle. I went for a scan last Thursday (day 4) and my next one is tomorrow. From that day I've been injecting myself with gonal f. Obviously I've been reading up on medicated cycles etc. But apparently - the injectables don't have the cycle limit on them like clomid does? They give your body the fsh rather than the way clomid works, by stimulating your body to produce more. Therefore it takes less of a toll on you. The downside is- its more expensive. But I thought it was worth a mention!

MimiArm · 19/04/2021 21:02

@paintfairy Thabks for that. Yes, that's what the clinic I've been trying to get an appointment for do (the clinic that forgot about me) Injections for 5 days, trigger shot, and progesterone. Once I finally get my appointment, we're going to try that for a few cycles. It's £690-£800 per cycle but cheaper than IVF. I'm skipping my Clomid this cycle as period came and consisted of a single blood clot so going to wait a month before trying it again. Moving house this week anyways so I'll be busy enough.

How are you feeling about this cycle? Excited/hopeful/nervous?

paintfairy · 19/04/2021 21:16

@MimiArm I reckon that will work for you. No reason why it shouldn't? I've found the injections OK too.
I don't know what to feel because I have no idea what's happening. 🤣 I get 3 proper cycles but I know it can go wrong with timing or getting the medication amounts right. So until it happens I'm not even banking on it going right this month. It may end up taking 6 months to even have 3 decent cycles. But I am hoping the drugs will give me a stronger egg because I do wonder if that's my issue? So even if we miss insemination then maybe with the drugs helping and my tubes having been done- that we have more chance? I'll tomorrow maybe. I hope!

paintfairy · 20/04/2021 22:11

@MimiArm did they monitor you on clomid? I'm cd9 and have overstimulated on the starting dose of gonal f. 🙈 So it definitely works! They have trigger shot me today to stop everything. I've got 2 dominant follicles. 🙄 IUI tomorrow. If I end up with 2 January babies then I'll not be impressed. And DH I think will not be seen for dust. 🤣

MimiArm · 20/04/2021 22:42

@paintfairy - yes, I was monitored on Clomid but only for the first two cycles as my dosage was spot on. That's good they gave you a trigger shot though because of you over stimulate too much they legally have to tell you to not dtd as you run the risk of multiples.

I've got my initial consultation with the new fertility clinic on 5 May. So not too long to wait I suppose. Still annoyed that I'm nowhere on the nhs wait list after over a year now and having to fork out hundreds at each clinic to get some help.

I'll be out of communication for a week or so as moving house tomorrow so best of luck in the meantime 😊

paintfairy · 21/04/2021 06:54

@MimiArm definitely chase the nhs! Make sure they haven't lost you.
Good luck with the house move! 😊

MimiArm · 08/05/2021 09:54

@paintfairy @Juno231 - how are you ladies? Anything to report? More tests @Juno231? How did the treatment go so far @Juno231

We moved without a glitch and love our new home.

I've been spotting for a week (which has never happened before) but looks like AF has arrived this morning. I didn't take the Clomid last cycle and I'm glad I didn't. Not going to take it this cycle either as my body is still messed up from the miscarriage so I think I would only be wasting the tablets.

I have appointment on 27 May with the new private fertility clinic so see about the injections for ovulation induction.

MimiArm · 08/05/2021 09:55

@paintfairy I meant to tag you in the question about how treatment has gone so far - oops
