Late period - BFN on tests!

Hi all!

I can't see a recent thread for anyone that AF is late for and still getting negative tests so thought I would start one as we are all in the same boat 👎🏻

I'm now two days late and CD30. The main symptoms I've been having is a tonne of CM - so much so that I thought AF had started, lots of cramping and last night my nipples were sore.

Anyone else in the same position or has ended up with a positive test eventually after all the negatives?

Good luck to you too @GhostPenguin. Trying to conceive and progress a pregnancy is such a rollercoaster. 😬

Abbey112 · 03/07/2020 22:53

@Namenamename2020 it’s so tough isn’t it, just being in limbo and trying not to get too hopeful or excited. The tests I’ve tried have been clear blue and accutest. The clear blue was an early detection and it was still negative. I’ve ordered some first response but I almost can’t bring myself to test incase it’s negative again, it crushes me every time. How long are you going to wait before testing again?
@Ad17 hello! I can’t offer advice I’m afraid as I don’t know that much about PCOS but like the ladies above have said (and what I’m clinging to) is that until our periods arrive we are still in the running 🤞🏼 Xx

Namenamename2020 · 03/07/2020 23:12

@Abbey112 that sounds so difficult. It's awful seeing the negative result when you so badly want it to be different. I'm going to test in morning with normal test again as it's all I have, so hoping for even a faint line.

It's difficult not to let panic begin to set in. If AF comes for me I will have a nice glass of wine before resetting and start again 😳😌

Abbey112 · 04/07/2020 00:05

@Namenamename2020 good luck for the morning!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you! 🤞🏼☺️ Xx

Ad17 · 04/07/2020 01:04

Thank you! I know even blood tests don't show things unless your levels are high enough but like what even is normal?!

But annoyed as well because due to.covid I've not actually even seen anyone in person, and my mums in the NHS and advised someone would be able to tell by doing a physical exam, so to turn around a force a bleed without even trying an exam I was just so shocked by

tootiredtoclean · 04/07/2020 07:34

Good luck with your tests today let us know how you get on. It's hard being stuck in limbo.

Abbey112 · 04/07/2020 07:59

@Ad17 I agree, that seems a really hasty decision and maybe unnecessary action! Is there any way you can get a second opinion?

Namenamename2020 · 04/07/2020 08:00

@Abbey112 @tootiredtoclean thank you. Another totally clear BFN on a Morrison's test and still not a hint of AF. Looking more and more like it could be chemical 🙁. Hope you guys get some more clarity today ❤

Ad17 · 04/07/2020 08:01

Through work I have private health care so with the referral going to try and get some scans or whatever, either way I would like to know what's going on........ if I'm just waiting on a cycle, it's going to bloody well hurt, pardon the pun!

sle0911 · 04/07/2020 09:03

@tootiredtoclean thank you for that!! I've just done another one and it's saying low now, could that mean I've already ovulated? Dunno why this is confusing me so much 😂 I did another one yesterday after the first one and it was higher but now low! I've attached my pic!

Ahh will be interesting to see what your antibody testing says!

Late period - BFN on tests!
GhostPenguin · 04/07/2020 10:00

@Namenamename2020 Sorry to hear about your BFN, same for me this morning too! It's just so frustrating not knowing!

@Ad17 Totally agree you need to find out what's going on. It feels like forcing a bleed without further investigation is a bit hasty and probably won't give you any answers

Namenamename2020 · 04/07/2020 10:13

Thanks and I am so sorry for yours too. I am moving from frustration now to upset at the thought that this is a second loss in a row. And not even a period so I can move on. Very difficult. Sending hope to everyone on here ❤

tootiredtoclean · 04/07/2020 17:14

@sle0911 it looks like you may have ovulated last night. Mine sometimes dipped in the morning so I would take another tonight to see if it's lower again and if you haven't DTD!

You inspired me so took and OPK too and BFN.

sle0911 · 04/07/2020 19:04

@tootiredtoclean I've just don't another one and was even lighter so you might be right! would also prob explain the nausea I felt on weds and Thursday too! I'm hoping that the DTD on weds eve and this morning may have been enough to cover 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Any new symptoms for you today?

Smushty14 · 04/07/2020 22:15

@sle0911 That sounds amazing! Are you staying the week after your guests leave?

It was pretty windy yesterday but thankfully it was a lovely day.

I caved and bought some FRER's, they arrived today ready for me to test tomorrow on CD37.

I haven't properly tracked ovulation as I was hoping for a chilled month 🙈

@Namenamename2020 I'm sorry to hear about the negatives. How long did you leave between taking the FRERs and taking the other tests? It could be your levels aren't strong enough.

@Abbey112 fingers crossed for you lovely!

@tootiredtoclean Some doctors are absolutely useless and others go above and beyond to help. There seems to be one extreme or the other for them!? I'm sorry they haven't helped you. Still no sign of AF for me so have some FRERs ready to test tomorrow!

Abbey112 · 04/07/2020 22:42

@Smushty14 thank you! I am testing with a FRER tomorrow morning and really keeping my fingers crossed for a positive. I am currently CD 36 and 8 days late, I have never missed a period or ever been more than 2/3 dats late before so really hoping for good news 🤞🏼 Thinking of everyone right now, this journey is so tough. Fingers crossed for us all xxx

tootiredtoclean · 04/07/2020 23:51

@Smushty14 good luck with your FRER tomorrow. Will have my fingers and toes crossed for you. I hope you got to enjoy your pimms.

I think I'm so used to telling the doctors what I need/want them to do at work and know what they should be doing. I was hoping I could avoid going back in a few weeks time when I hit the third missed AF. Especially at the moment, I want avoid the GP as much as I can.

Have you had any new symptoms?

@sle0911 it sounds like you may have and managed to catch it too. Hopefully you'll get an end to your waiting soon with a BFP

Abbey112 · 05/07/2020 07:48

Got a BFN this morning after using FRER. Really disappointed x

sle0911 · 05/07/2020 10:50

@Smushty14 well the guests are all arriving at different times, but there will definitely be some days on our own, also good as my daughter can spend some nights with my mum/sister etc!
I'm glad you had a lovely day!! Hope the Pimms went down well? I have a garden party in a couple of weeks for my "would be hen do" can't wait!

How did the FRER go this morning?

@tootiredtoclean so I've just don't another OPK and got my "peak" and the app has told me I should ovulate within 24-48hrs 🎉

sle0911 · 05/07/2020 10:50

Forgot to attach pic!

Late period - BFN on tests!
Namenamename2020 · 05/07/2020 14:39

Hi all! I hope you are all well today.
I felt quite low yesterday but in a better mindset today. So, I tested this morning again with a normal test and still negative. I started getting positives on FRER on 28th June, so by now I'd have thought BFP would appear. I am around 4 days late for my period (unless I'm on a longer cycle of course). I'm going to start tracking ovulation properly after this.

@Abbey112
so sorry. I'm disappointed for you. Hope you get AF soon and some clarity moving forward. We'll keep going!

@Smushty14 hope you're doing ok today, did you do your test?

@sle0911 your hen sounds exciting and something to look forward to!

@tootiredtoclean are you out of limbo yet?

Are any of us out of limbo yet?!

sle0911 · 06/07/2020 16:53

@tootiredtoclean @Smushty14 how you both doing?

@Namenamename2020 yes can't wait, hopefully will be a good distraction! How you doing?

Still in limbo for me, I've had peak OPKs for over 24 hours now, not sure if that's normal? So weird as from how I've felt since Saturday I would have put money on it that I'm pregnant - feel awful (been pregnant a few times and always feel terrible) nausea but also an empty stomach feeling, shattered and headachy! CD43 for me today 😩 about 14 days late going by my usual cycle!

Namenamename2020 · 06/07/2020 17:52

Hmm I don't track ovulation so I'm not sure! I am definitely quite surprised at how late a period can arrive - it's so odd that it seems to be happening as people are ttc. It seems like such a cruel coincidence.
14 days late and no AF and playing the waiting game is so difficult. I've always been like clockwork until my MC, so it still is hard for me to get my head around the fact cycles can do this to us.

I'm OK thanks. Wondering what will happen next. 2 options - frer positives turn to regular positives and I ovulated much later than I thought. Or, it's a chemical or early miscarriage. I'm then wondering what the process for that will be. AF currently 6 days late.

GhostPenguin · 06/07/2020 17:59

Still limbo for me too. I need to start tracking ovulation, maybe then I'll have a bit more of clue what's going on down there. Just looks a bit daunting! All that temperature taking and testing!

@sle0911 14 days is such a long time! That must be maddening

Ad17 · 06/07/2020 18:25

Got a one liner referral from my GP today, no mention of history, no mention of rationale just that the female has requested a scan

Needless to say my health insurers won't be accepting that! Hmm
