Late period - BFN on tests!

Smushty14 · 28/06/2020 15:07

Hi all!

I can't see a recent thread for anyone that AF is late for and still getting negative tests so thought I would start one as we are all in the same boat 👎🏻

I'm now two days late and CD30. The main symptoms I've been having is a tonne of CM - so much so that I thought AF had started, lots of cramping and last night my nipples were sore.

Anyone else in the same position or has ended up with a positive test eventually after all the negatives?

@tootiredtoclean I don't have any OPKs 😩 have never actually tracked ovulation but have ordered some today (coming tomorrow) haha I don't even think it's a squinter to be honest, can't really see anything! 🤷🏼‍♀️ going to have to start stopping TTC soon as getting married abroad next August and will be cutting it fine as in my head I didn't want to be taking a baby earlier than about 4 months old abroad!

Oh wow day 54! Crazy! Do you have any pregnancy symptoms? Ah hopefully they'll check your bloods! I'd love it if we were in that minority of people who don't find out they're pregnant till a bit further along! We can hope 😂🤞🏼

tootiredtoclean · 02/07/2020 13:45

@sle0911 congratulations on the wedding! How exciting. It'll fly by and you'll be back to TTC in no time. We paused for our wedding and despite people thinking we were crazy I don't regret it. I didn't want to be pregnant/caring for a baby on the day.

I did have symptoms (think maybe I've been imagining them) but aside from spotting, nothing. The longer I go on the less I think that will happen. Although I got an positive opk day 14 and now nothing they're all BFN

Smushty14 · 02/07/2020 16:37

@sle0911 I've just been and got the pimms in 🤣 currently reduced down to £12 for a litre in Tesco so I'll be enjoying that.

Oh no... is that a sensitive test or one post missed period?

Congrats on the wedding! Where are you getting married? That's so exciting!!

Apparently the younger they are the easier it is to take them but how true that is I don't know☀️

@tootiredtoclean fingers crossed they will check at the doctors for you. I can't believe it's been so long for you, I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now.

Thanks both @tootiredtoclean @Smushty14 was supposed to be getting married this August but have had to postpone 😩😩 gutting!! So TTC would have commenced in August, but thought we'd try a couple of cycles before hand! Getting married in Cyprus ☀️

I've got an 8 year old daughter (fell pregnant on the pill ironically 🙄) and we went abroad when she was 5 months and was fine!

Ooo pimms and a bargain too! Yay! Hope the weather holds out for you 🤞🏼be nice to have something to take your mind off it, even if it's just for one day!

sle0911 · 02/07/2020 18:43

I'm also feeling nauseous again this eve, both today and yesterday seems to have started about 4pm - strange 🤷🏼‍♀️

tootiredtoclean · 02/07/2020 19:48

@Smushty14 Very jealous of the pimms. I hope you enjoy a glass or two.

@sle0911 how devastating. Corona has really but a stop to just about everything. Cyprus sounds lovely, I've heard it's beautiful over there. 🤞the sickness is a good sign.

My boobs are still sore but they were likely this previously before AF. Right now I would be happy either way

sle0911 · 02/07/2020 20:23

@tootiredtoclean agree!! I'd definitely be happy either way, not a fan of the limbo life 😩

Smushty14 · 03/07/2020 08:21

@sle0911 Wow! Cyprus is so beautiful! How did you come to the decision of getting married abroad?

I'm so sorry you have had to postpone 😞 It's so sad to see so many people having to put their life on hold because of this virus. Personally I have become a bit of a hermit and only leave the house once a week to do the shopping. I spend plenty of time in the garden when the sun pops out though☀️

Haha well at least you know it should be fine travelling with a little one then - it will probably be the 8yr old you will need to keep occupied 🤣

I think it's due to rain from 6pm which sucks 👎🏻

That's a bit strange on the nausea - fingers crossed it's a good sign!

@tootiredtoclean I definitely will be 🥂 how are you getting on?

I'm now CD35 and no AF yet. I can see I'm going to have to buy some FRER's

OP posts:
sle0911 · 03/07/2020 09:49

@Smushty14 I don't actually know to be honest, I always thought I'd never want to marry abroad but after he proposed I started looking into it and fell in love 😍 it's so much cheaper and also means the celebrations aren't over after one day, we're staying for 2 weeks and most guests are coming for 1 week!

Oh no that's rubbish!! Hopefully the forecast is wrong, or if it rains it's only a little shower 🤞🏼

Do you think you'll get some FRERs? When did you last test? CD40 today, I actually have some OPKs coming today so will be intrigued to see what they say!

Namenamename2020 · 03/07/2020 14:36

Hi all, hope you don't mind if I join you as I am in the same boat and feeling a bit lost at the moment! My cycles are not as predictable as they used to be since I had surgical evac, so I think I am a day late. Could be wrong though 🤔. I have had 4 positive FRER and now testing negative on regular tests (3 tests in 15 hours, anyone? losing my cool...😑) Very unclear what is happening in my body and finding today difficult.

It's heartening to know there's a group of us in it together. 🙌

sle0911 · 03/07/2020 14:56

Does anyone track ovulation?? I brought some femometer OPKs and this is what it has said when I put it on the app, what does this even mean? LH 31% and high, Am I about to ovulate? Mind boggling!!

Welcome @Namenamename2020 sorry you're going through the same limbo!! 4 positives sounds good though? Maybe the other tests just aren't picking it up yet as they're not as sensitive?? I know everyone says it and it's sooo hard to but maybe try and wait a couple of days and test again and hopefully a stronger line will appear 🤞🏼

Sorry you have to click on the pic to actually see it!

Abbey112 · 03/07/2020 15:39

Hi all,
I’m new to this forum but heard good things! hoping you may be able to offer some advice.

Me and hubby have been TTC for 18 months now. This month I am 7 days late for my period but have tested several times with different makes (CB/Accutest) and each time I’ve got a BFN! There’s no sign of AF, I have stomach pain and back ache (similar time PMT but no period) and I’m also getting a white creamy discharge (TMI I know Confused) I am CD35, 7 days late (normally AF is CD28/29), I’m 18 DPO.
Can anyone advise? We are hoping so much to be pregnant.
Thanks in advance xx

tootiredtoclean · 03/07/2020 17:02

@sle0911 @Smushty14 limbo sucks. I'm waiting for the doctor to call. Hoping to get him to agree to check my bloods next week. Another BFN this morning. How're you both today?

@sle0911 it looks like you maybe about to. I was testing twice a day late morning and evening and the app should be able to monitor your peak. The line will vanish as your hormones drop and get darker than the control as it rises. Can add a screenshot of mine if it helps?

I did wait for your pic to load for much longer than I should of 😂 it's been a long day.

@Namenamename2020 4 BFPs sound positive. I would try and wait 48 hours and test again with FMU. 🤞 for you.

@Abbey112 hello. The waiting feels like forever doesn't it. have you tried testing with a FRER/pink dye test?

tootiredtoclean · 03/07/2020 17:02

Wow I have no idea how I've managed to get all the bold text 😂 sorry about that

tootiredtoclean · 03/07/2020 17:16

So no bloods for me, he's said "its likely you'll get a period eventually as you're still quite young". Although I do get a covid antibody test next week, so lucky me.

sle0911 · 03/07/2020 18:36

@tootiredtoclean oo yes a screenshot would be good please, it's confusing me probably more than it should do 😂 if I'm about to ovulate I'll be very happy and put it down to late ovulation due to the chemical 🤞🏼
Oh that sucks about the bloods, really hope AF or BFP arrives for you soon!! Haha yay to the antibody test, do you think you had it at all? I had the antibody test a few weeks ago as I'm a nurse and was negative but I haven't been poorly at all so didn't expect anything different!

Hi @Abbey112 welcome to limbo land 👋🏼do you know for definite when you ovulated? Could you have maybe ovulated later than you thought? Sorry no advice but keeping fingers crossed for you!

Namenamename2020 · 03/07/2020 18:54

@sle0911 @tootiredtoclean Thank you both. I do agree that could be the case - I am worried it is chemical but would be delighted if it was just late to show on a test. My MMC has ensured that my cycles are all over the place so I feel I have no idea and I don't fully track my ovulation. However - I am just trying to keep my brain occupied and let the time pass. Will test again in morning!

@Abbey112 It could indeed be that you ovulated late! I am in a similar situation to you and I have read that it can take longer for the levels to rise in some people. Are you using early detection tests? I have been using First Response Early but I now feel if I had not started on those I would be in a less stressed position. It's so difficult to resist though!

tootiredtoclean · 03/07/2020 19:01

@sle0911 hopefully this will help. Hopefully you've managed to catch ovulation in time 🤞slightly annoyed as what's another to the list. I'm going to try and forget about it all for a while and enjoy the summer, hopefully.

I'm a nurse too, but working in brain injury so not qualified for the antibody test as we are not a hospital or care home for the elderly. Boris has just agreed we can start regular swabbing! I would be shocked if I didn't I was really ill in March, although my swab was also negative once I could finally get one.

Late period - BFN on tests!
Ad17 · 03/07/2020 19:07

Heya, I've been reading this thread, don't get a lot of the acronyms because I'm used to this, but it sounds like I might be going through something similar?

I have pcos but for me I'm regular every 5-6 weeks and all the signs are like clockwork, sore boobs, chin hair, and one annoying pimple same place every cycle!

My last cycle was 25th march this year, and for the last 5 weeks I've been tired, achey boobs, migraines, random irritability but all the tests are negative. Been to the GP the pee and blood tests are negative. The GP wanted to give me progesterone to force a bleed but I asked to see a specialist because I just don't feel right. I feel quite bloated down there and have been getting cramps like period cramps on and off this whole time as well.

Does anyone have any idea what in earth could be happening? I don't want to get excited but then also I'm worried about something more sinister

Thanks!

Abbey112 · 03/07/2020 20:39

Hi again, thanks for the replies Smile
So I was using CB ovulation sticks who said I reached peak ovulation on day 16 and 17 of my cycle. I’m now 18 days post ovulation but still getting BFN. Do you think there’s any chance of being pregnant? I don’t understand why there’s no AF but also no BFP! I feel like I’m going out of my mind not knowing 😞 xx

Namenamename2020 · 03/07/2020 20:53

@Abbey112 I understand. I feel similar. I have never posted on here but have today as I need an outlet and to discuss with people in a similar situation.

I'm far from an expert but I have read about this and its seems it has taken some people a few days longer to get a positive line, so I am holding on to some hope. Are your tests normal ones? You could try an early detection to see if there are lower hcg levels at the moment? 7 days late means something is happening differently I suppose. Hope you can get some relief from this feeling soon with an answer!

GhostPenguin · 03/07/2020 22:40

Hello!

Sorry to chime in late here, I'm in a similar situation- 4 days late, CD34. I'm normally regular at 29 days. Although I have a couple of symptoms, really sore boobs and slight nausea, this is not unusual for me before af. I did a test but it's negative so just waiting now!

Good luck everyone!
