Hi everyone,

Me and my husband have made the decision to try for a baby - we had a talk last month after I thought I might be pregnant (we weren't actively trying) and after 12 years together feel that now is the right time.

I'm feeling really excited and a little nervous - I know it may take a while and I just want to be as prepared as possible and be doing as many of the right things as I can.

What do people recommend for trying to get pregnant? Is anyone else in the same boat and would like to keep in touch/progress?

I'm due to finish AF in around 2 days and due to ovulate around 28th according to my tracker app - I've got folic acid and vitamin D arriving tomorrow that I can start taking, what else can I be doing to prepare as much as possible? I know it sounds silly, but do we just start 'trying' as soon as my period is over?

Look forward to speaking to you all soon!

Thanks,

Bee x

Thankyou @Peach1204 and @Poppyismyfavourite, still focussing on next month now.

Awwww @peach1204 that's so adorable!!! I love the idea of that, and am soooo happy for you!!!

@poppyismyfavourite how about you, have you already told DH? Xx

Poppyismyfavourite · 17/06/2020 11:25

@Peach1204 I think I'm 5+6. I just called the midwives this morning to arrange a (phone) booking in appointment, still feel like a bit of a fraud!

@Rocky89 haha yes immediately - I woke him up waving a pregnancy test in his face. Normally he's very grumpy and groggy in the morning but he was happy about this obviously! I'm not much of a secret keeper (unless they're other people's)...

We're going to need a new thread soon!

Peach1204 · 17/06/2020 11:29

@Daffodil21 @Gems22 @Th197 @Rocky89 thank you everyone! I'll defs cry when I tell him! I hope all get some news soon! Xxx

@Poppyismyfavourite I phoned the drs just to get an idea of what the process is right now. Waiting for a call back from them. I don't know how to feel! Excited, shitting it! Hahaha! Xxx

Rocky89 · 17/06/2020 11:31

@Poppyismyfavourite haha I can only imagine what that was like for him! There are most definitely worse ways to be woken up though! Awww yeah I bet the excitement is difficult to contain!! Fair play to @Peach1204vif you can last until Sunday that will be amazing, we want a report back afterwards!

Yes all you ladies are going to need a new thread as you'll be bump buddies!! Xx

Summertime1992 · 17/06/2020 11:33

@Poppyismyfavourite Haha am like you I had planned to surprise my partner on fathers day then 10 mins after taking the test am waving it in his face saying you can see that line right, I really need to learn some patience as my partner is really keen not to tell our familys untill we have had our 12 week scan.

I have not booked in with the midwife yet strangley am waiting for my period to definately not turn up so until Friday.

Im have mild cramping today which is normal at this point but keeping worrying period us coming even after multiple positive test.

Poppyismyfavourite · 17/06/2020 11:45

@Summertime1992 yeah we agreed not to tell anyonetil the 12 week scan and I'm finding it so hard already - met a friend in her garden on sunday, and had to make up a lie about why I wasn't drinking she's my best friend and I never lie to her so felt horrible - will apologise when I tell her.
My mum also invited me to stay when it's allowed, not sure if I can spend a few days with my parents without her guessing... My mum is a nurse and my Dad loves wine...

Peach1204 · 17/06/2020 12:07

@Rocky89 will do! Xxx

Daffodil21 · 17/06/2020 12:19

I've started a new thread:

TTC Thread #2 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3941503-ttc-thread-2

Tagged people in my tag list - apologies to those I have missed and those who don't want to be tagged!

Poppyismyfavourite · 17/06/2020 13:30

Thanks @Daffodil21 do you mind if I join the new thread? I totally understand if you'd rather I didn't x

Daffodil21 · 17/06/2020 13:36

@Poppyismyfavourite not at all!! You'll see I already tagged you! I'm sure we all want to hear your updates!

Peach1204 · 17/06/2020 14:05

@Poppyismyfavourite the dr phoned back, she says I'm due 23rd March but everywhere else (internet/apps) say end of Feb. Not sure why there is a difference when they have had the same info! Xxx

Summertime1992 · 17/06/2020 14:20

@Poppyismyfavourite I found it hard lying to my mum as she asked me but I will also just appoligies afterwards am sure she will just be thrilled anyway.

@Daffodil21 Thanks for the new thread am hopi g to watch and see everyone else get their BFP soon!

@ Peach1204 Im due 23-25 Febuary dependant on which app I use I think she miss calculated and meant Febuary your period was due same time as mine if I remember so you must have a similar date.

Poppyismyfavourite · 17/06/2020 14:30

@Daffodil21 thanks, didn't want to make anyone feel bad!

@Peach1204 that is odd - I'm apparently due 13th Feb so I don't see how yours can be so different! But that's just using the online NHS calculator, midwife on the phone only asked when my last period started.

Not sure it matters though - everyone knows babies arrive whenever they feel like it lol. I reckon I ovulated late too so that probably means it'll be a few days off anyway...

Peach1204 · 17/06/2020 15:30

@Summertime1992 @Poppyismyfavourite yeah I think she did calculate it incorrectly but nevermind. At least there's a rough idea! Xxx

Hopeful1712 · 18/06/2020 16:12

Hi all,

I was hoping I could join this thread, i’ve spent a bit of time reading through it all and you all seem really supportive. Congratulations to those of you that have had BFPs recently.

So i’m 30 and my OH is 39. I was on the depo injection for 8 years and recently changed to the pill in February this year - was starting to have issues with it. Recently been seen by a specialist and have found I have a tilted cervix - has anybody else had experience of this? Dr says it should be a problem but at the back of my mind I can’t help but worry.
Came off pill at the weekend (13 June), and have started taking Seven Seas Trying to Conceive. Currently on my withdrawal bleed, so hoping my cycle should come back after that.
Just really looking for advice of what I should / should not be doing. I didn't realise there was so much to it before reading these posts!
Xx

Hi @Hopeful1712

We have a new thread as this one was getting full:

TTC Thread #2 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3941503-ttc-thread-2

Maybe copy and paste your post there?

I know very little about a tilted cervix, but my mum has the same and conceived very easily (unfortunately she did not pass this gene onto me!!)

Poppyismyfavourite · 18/06/2020 16:36

Hi @Hopeful1712 !
You're very welcome to join us, but everyone seems to have moved over to the new thread, so they probably won't see this - I'd suggest posting there :)
