Hi everyone,

Me and my husband have made the decision to try for a baby - we had a talk last month after I thought I might be pregnant (we weren't actively trying) and after 12 years together feel that now is the right time.

I'm feeling really excited and a little nervous - I know it may take a while and I just want to be as prepared as possible and be doing as many of the right things as I can.

What do people recommend for trying to get pregnant? Is anyone else in the same boat and would like to keep in touch/progress?

I'm due to finish AF in around 2 days and due to ovulate around 28th according to my tracker app - I've got folic acid and vitamin D arriving tomorrow that I can start taking, what else can I be doing to prepare as much as possible? I know it sounds silly, but do we just start 'trying' as soon as my period is over?

Look forward to speaking to you all soon!

Thanks,

Bee x

@Daffodil21 @AlisonLew15 great your work have been supportive! I'm not looking forward to telling my boss I'm pregnant - I'm sure he'll be great but our project (research at a university) is fixed term so it might be a bit of a logistical nightmare.

I did another test this morning and the line is definitely darker, so going to ring the doctor later

Daffodil21 · 16/06/2020 09:36

@AlisonLew15 did you get a flashing the first day you tested? I usually get my peak 3-4 days later, but obviously varies from person to person! Great that you're heading into your fertile window though. SMEP is back on track now after our little blip. I've learned the hard way not to force things if it's clear we just don't want to - ends up in more frustration if anything! I think (hope) we had the time to play with because I won't ovulate until CD21ish. But no more falling off track!

@Poppyismyfavourite I'm honestly so happy for you. I had a good feeling about you when we thought we were 'cycle buddies' Grin work will work itself out, it will just have to. When are you planning on telling them? Are you wfh? Do you have any early pregnancy symptoms??

I've actually relocated since then, and I'm now working for someone else. He has no idea about anything, and tbh I'm not sure he'd be so understanding, particularly if things go wrong again. If we get lucky enough to get pregnant again I'm planning on telling him early on though, as I did in my last place. My job involves going out on building sites and I would absolutely not be taking any risks - partly why I told my old boss so soon too. Plus I was peeing like a fountain so they would have guessed anyway!!!

AlisonLew15 · 16/06/2020 10:03

@Daffodil21 I got a low yesterday and a flashing today.
@Poppyismyfavourite so pleased for you! I'm sure it'll go fine, gives them plenty of time to find someone to take on your workload hopefully.
I work in a Dental Practice, which at the moment is a bit of a minefield. Thankfully I'm in Wales and we still aren't doing much face 2 face but that'll change in the coming months. If I was to fall pregnant then I think they have to find an alternative role for me as the risk is too high.

Hi ladies. Hope you’re all ok and don’t mi d me messaging. I’ve been having a read through the messages and I’ve never felt so normal! Ha :) We’re on our 4th month TTC. Part of me thought it would happen straight away, the other part knew it would take time. I just went by my CM the first 2 months but then on the 3rd month I started to use OPKs just to try and understand if I was reading my body right. We DTD everyday last month over what was supposed to be my most fertile days (using the Premom app as using easy@home OPKs) and the results of the tests matched the app’s predictions as well as my CM so i felt like I was doing well. When AF arrived on the dot I was so disheartened and got a bit upset. So this month we was thinking of DTD every other day for the next couple of weeks (on CD 11 at the mo) and trying not to put as much pressure on us. I usually only drink decaf tea and have the odd coffee and only really socially drink so quite happy to cut alcohol out. Were both taking the pre conception vitamins and have been for a couple of months now. Fingers crossed it won’t be too much longer for us all and congratulations to those that have their BFP!! Amazing news and was lovely to read about your journeys along the way!! X

Nottherealslimshady · 16/06/2020 11:13

Hi @Gems22 hope this is your cycle :)

So happy for you @Poppyismyfavourite

I'm desperate to test but I'm like 5 DPO, my boobs are massive and tender though, really hoping it's a sign.

Smushty14 · 16/06/2020 11:25

@Nottherealslimshady I'm exactly the same! I'm 4/5dpo and I already want to poas 🙈 But I know there is no point as it will just come back negative as it's too soon 👎🏻

Poppyismyfavourite · 16/06/2020 11:28

@Daffodil21 and @AlisonLew15 thank you that's so sweet! I really hope you both get your happy ending soon, whatever that is - I'm a big believer that things always work out the way they're supposed to, even when they seem crap at the time.
I was so tired last night I went to bed at 9:30 lol, then of course woke up super early but now I feel pretty good. Only symptom so far seems to be sore boobs. The cat is being really clingy so maybe she knows she's going to be replaced by a real baby!

MrsMacc1108 · 16/06/2020 12:57

Hello everyone,

Hope its ok to jump on here. My husband and I have made the decision to start trying for our first baby. I'm booked in to have my coil removed next Tuesday, feeling a real mix of nerves and excitement!!

Started doing some research but any help/advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kelly xx

Guys! AF hasn't come so I did a test this morning. I think it's a BFP?! Shit! Attached test. When can I do another one?! I'm shaking! DH doesn't have a clue right now. What happens next?! What am I doing?! It's very much wanted but I don't believe it! Help! Xxx

First time TTC - help please!! Any one else TTC for their first time?
Poppyismyfavourite · 17/06/2020 07:39

@Peach1204 yeah that's a line!!! Congratulations!
I guess you can do it again tomorrow morning?!

Peach1204 · 17/06/2020 07:45

@Poppyismyfavourite thank you - I just don't believe it! I don't even know what to type as it just doesn't feel real! I'll do another test tomorrow to be certain! 🤞🏻 xxx

Poppyismyfavourite · 17/06/2020 08:10

@Peach1204 haha I know how you feel, it doesn't feel real for me yet but I've had 2 positive tests now and my boobs are still sore so it's starting to sink in! Plus DH keeps making me go for walks... Wish I hadn't told him that I had to do light regular exercise!

Rocky89 · 17/06/2020 08:38

Wow that was a lot to catch up on! I tried to stay off here while in my tww as I thought it might help, but the time goes just as slow whether you're on here or not!

Congrats to all of you with your BFPs!! @poppyismyfavourite and @Peach1204 congratulations!!!!! So chuffed for you!!!

For me I think I'm out, I know it's not over until AF arrives, but I had barely any cm when I ovulated, and I've had no symptoms whatsoever during this tww, AF due Sunday. I'm gutted as because I'm due Sunday I'd have done a test on father's Day, but heyho. Tested today and yesterday BFNs as expected.
I just want AF to hurry up and arrive now so we can start a fresh next cycle, these days are going by so slow!!
Poppy and Peach send some baby dust to the rest of us 😍😍 xxxxx

Daffodil21 · 17/06/2020 08:46

@Peach1204 ahh congratulations!!! If you're already late then you don't need to wait until the morning to test again, although that test looks clear to me!! How/when are you going to tell DH??

Nottherealslimshady · 17/06/2020 08:51

I definitely see it @Peach1204 congratulations!

Summertime1992 · 17/06/2020 08:55

@Peach1204 Congratulations ! so happy for you, that is a lovely clear line.

I know what you mean its hard to get use too. I found for me it really helped doing a digital and it just saying 'pregnant' as there is no mistaking that.

I did a digital with weeks indicator last night and it put me at 2-3 from conception so about 4-5 weeks pregnant.

Good luck to everyone else this thread is turning into a lucky one fingers crossed Smile

Poppyismyfavourite · 17/06/2020 09:48

Hmm @Rocky89 you might still have a chance - I had a BFN 3 days after expected AF date...

Th197 · 17/06/2020 10:23

Hey! Hope it's ok for me to join in. Me and my partner are TTC. We decided at the start of June / end of May.

I bought some OPK. I got the CB. I got these on Saturday there and I got a static smiley face.. really wasn't expecting that. We already DD that day.. and the day before..

So I'm currently in my TWW.. none of my friends or family know that we are trying yet. So thought I'd hope on here.

Congratulations on any BFP already!!

Peach1204 · 17/06/2020 10:24

@Poppyismyfavourite Congratulations! how far a long are you? I did a walk instead of my cross trainer this morning. I only started doing my cross trainer about 6 weeks ago and whilst I'm not doing much I feel like walks (small ones!) might be better. Xxx

Peach1204 · 17/06/2020 10:26

@Rocky89 thank you. I felt like I was out at the weekend as I had 2 negative tests. You definitely still have a chance until AF arrives. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Xxx

Peach1204 · 17/06/2020 10:28

@Nottherealslimshady thank you! Xxx

@Daffodil21 I went for a walk and came home and took another one (about 4 hours after the below one and a clear blue this time as the other a cheapie) and there's definitely a line. My plan is on Father's Day for him to come down to the living room decorated then a card saying happy Father's Day from the bump! I wanted it to be this so I'm so surprised it is! Xxx

Peach1204 · 17/06/2020 10:29

@Summertime1992 thank you! I don't know if it will ever sink in! Once DH knows I'll do one of the tests that dates it. I'm now going to hibernate due to Covid! Xxx

Daffodil21 · 17/06/2020 10:32

@Peach1204 that made me tear up!!!! That's so lovely!

Welcome newcomers - I hope some of the good luck in this thread rubs off on you!

Gems22 · 17/06/2020 10:41

Congratulations @Peach1204 it'll be the best Father's Day present ever!! X

Th197 · 17/06/2020 10:49
