Hi everyone,

Me and my husband have made the decision to try for a baby - we had a talk last month after I thought I might be pregnant (we weren't actively trying) and after 12 years together feel that now is the right time.

I'm feeling really excited and a little nervous - I know it may take a while and I just want to be as prepared as possible and be doing as many of the right things as I can.

What do people recommend for trying to get pregnant? Is anyone else in the same boat and would like to keep in touch/progress?

I'm due to finish AF in around 2 days and due to ovulate around 28th according to my tracker app - I've got folic acid and vitamin D arriving tomorrow that I can start taking, what else can I be doing to prepare as much as possible? I know it sounds silly, but do we just start 'trying' as soon as my period is over?

Look forward to speaking to you all soon!

Thanks,

Bee x

@Summertime1992 I would definitely say that's a positive congratulations!!

Hopefully now that's a start for our lucky thread and we will have lots more bfps, I think we are gonna hit limit on here soon and will need a new thread if anyone is clever enough to make a new one we can all join

Mrskcam · 13/06/2020 18:01

@Summertime1992 please tell what you meant by just don't feel right like anything in particular or just a general feeling? Trying not to symptom spot but part of me loves it haha

SVC11 · 13/06/2020 18:25

Quick question... I've bought some frers but I'm worried about testing too early. Has anyone had an early positive frer that stuck, I don't know if I want to know and get false hope or the opposite ... Decisions decisions.... Any advice?

Summertime1992 · 13/06/2020 21:35

@Daffodil21 Thanks :) I am trying not to get my hopes up so cautiously optermistic.

@Mrskcam Thanks :) I have had a few symptoms last two nights woke needing to go for a wee in the night which I never get up in the night, I have been having bubbling sensations in my pelvic areas for three days which ended yesterday and today my boobs are heavy aerolas larger and puffy looking ( they look awful) and was gettibg creamy discharge.

@SVC11 As you can tell I am not the best to advices on if you should test early or not. Good luck if you decide too :).

Natashabobasha1 · 13/06/2020 21:50

I got a full blood analysis for hubs and I before trying. I got prenatal healthcare and my doctor detected a thyroid condition that I'm medicated for...low thyroid can = low IQ for a baby...

Also, hubs cleaned the pipes several times that week to get rid of old sperm before sex.

Also...if you want to get pregnant fast, get digital Ov tests and stay together for as long as possible right after sex...think of how dogs are stuck together after sex to ensure fertilisation...then: legs up and over your head for an hour. Watch a movie.

Poppyismyfavourite · 13/06/2020 23:08

I've had some bleeding this evening... Not sure what to think! It's light, but AF often starts light.
might take another test tomorrow morning.

Summertime1992 · 14/06/2020 05:23

@Poppyismyfavourite Implantation bleeding is common as long as it is just light, I have my fingers crossed for you today :).

I have woken up very early, feeling nausea this morning and needing to pee in the night again.

I have done a FRER pink test which is getting clearer will do a digital on Tuesday, though I can tell now as symptoms kicking in quickly and my boobs look awful large puffy and veiny this morning.

Peach1204 · 14/06/2020 07:08

@Summertime1992 I can see the line, it's so clear! Wow! Congratulations! Xxx

Poppyismyfavourite · 14/06/2020 08:43

@Summertime1992 thanks, I hope it is implantation and not a chemical... No more bleeding this morning, and my temp is still high. Also just taken another test and it looks the same as yesterday one so fingers crossed!

Poppyismyfavourite · 14/06/2020 08:44

Also that's a clear line, congratulations!

Daffodil21 · 14/06/2020 09:19

So so pleased for you both!

@Poppyismyfavourite bleeding is common in early pregnancy, it really doesn't always mean the worst. Take it easy and enjoy! Looks like that garage roof of your will have to wait Grin

Peach1204 · 14/06/2020 10:19

Just been to Tesco - all their vitamins are 3 for 2 so stocked up now for a few months. According to my calcs AF should be here Tuesday, Thursday I have OPKs arriving so I am definitely prepared for cycle 3 as I'm pretty convinced AF will be arriving. Can't say we aren't giving it our all eh?! Xxx

Nottherealslimshady · 14/06/2020 10:49

Thank you for the warm welcome :) buzzing with excitement for you both @Poppyismyfavourite @Summertime1992 Smile

Summertime1992 · 14/06/2020 19:38

@Poppyismyfavourite I am glad its still positive for you, how are you doing now any further bleeding ?, and thanks I still have not let myself fully believe it until at least a week past my period and am holding out on my CBD until Tuesday which is when my period is due.

@Peach1204 Thank you, sorry you think your period is on it way, glad you are staying positive and preparing for next month, but remember your not out until period comes. My frer was negative on Friday and then positive Saturday and Sunday.

@Daffodil21 Thank you again, and I have my fingers crossed for you I appreciate its been a long process.

@Nottherealslimshady Thank you! :)

Peach1204 · 14/06/2020 22:08

@Summertime1992 thank you for the positivity! xxx

Bam27 · 15/06/2020 07:56

Have had such a busy weekend! Just want AF to go away now so we can start trying again! @Poppyismyfavourite @Summertime1992 excited for you both!

AlisonLew15 · 15/06/2020 08:27

A little question for everyone. Those using OPKs, how long after your period starts/stops do you start testing? Got the CB digital so don't want to be wasting a lot. Was thinking about 7-10 days after my period started?
I did them last month for the first time and got low, flashing, flashing, static.

Daffodil21 · 15/06/2020 09:07

@AlisonLew15 if you know your cycle length there is a diagram in the leaflet (pic attached)
It sounds like you may have tested a little late last month though. From what I gather (and have read on the CB website) you will always get a O reading on the first day of testing, because this is reading your baseline levels so it knows when you have a surge.

Hope that helps!

AlisonLew15 · 15/06/2020 09:26

@Daffodil21 thank you for your help again!
Ah right ok I didn't realise that, still new to them. Couldn't have done it right last month as AF showed up anyway haha.

Had last day of spotting from my period yesterday so I will start to test from tomorrow morning. My cycles are quite short the last 2 months (25/26 days) previous 2 months were 30 days. Think I'm still regulating after MMC trt in Jan.

Preseed arrived today, going to have a read of the leaflet.

Daffodil21 · 15/06/2020 09:35

@AlisonLew15 it's frustrating how MC can mess with your cycles isn't it. Just that extra kick in the teeth! Mine came back relatively normal after the first one, but because I got pregnant again straight away I then didn't go back to 'normal' for 75 days! Every time I write to you I always get confused and remember you have been in the game longer too, and that you've had a loss, but I always remember this after I've posted. I'm sorry if I ever come across across as patronising or insensitive! I certainly don't mean to

Poppyismyfavourite · 15/06/2020 09:53

@Summertime1992 thanks, the bleeding seems to have stopped, it was pretty light and only 24hrs. Def not a period, as mine are always medium/heavy for a solid 5-7 days (although they sometimes start light, which is what had me worried). Think I'll test tomorrow morning then I guess call the doctor! Doesn't feel real atm...

AlisonLew15 · 15/06/2020 10:05

@Daffodil21 it's absolutely fine. Your messages are so helpful! I'm exactly the same, I can't remember most peoples situations until u read a little recap. I remember yours because of your username (I'm welsh and love daffodils Daffodil)

This 'trying' malarkey is still relatively new to us. We got pregnant after I stopped taking the mini pill on our honeymoon (which we were island hopping in Greece🇬🇷 this time last year 😭) and it just happened about a month later. This time around is proving a little more difficult lol.
I think I was so relaxed last year, wedding stress was over, amazing 3 weeks in Greece and then bridesmaid in my sister in laws wedding. Now it's all I think about!

Summertime1992 · 15/06/2020 10:57

@Bam27 Thank you hopefully everyone else will get the positives this next cycle :)

@Poppyismyfavourite That's reassuring at least. I Have just spoken to my Dr because I think I have a UTI so had to mention that I am pregnant to make sure I get the right antibiotics it doesnt feel real still though, when she was telling me to book in with the midwives I was like but it's to soon, I think I'll wait until Friday when am late for my period.

I used my digital this morning I have been so symptomatic that I sort of knew I would have enough HCG as I just feel pregnant (and I have for a few days).

Good luck to everyone else and I will keep an eye out to see how everyone is doing with their TTC journeys hopefully lots of positives to follow.

Daffodil21 · 15/06/2020 11:13

@AlisonLew15 it's all I think about too! It's crazy how much of your brain TTC occupies! We are supposed to be trying SMEP this month, but I have say we didn't dtd last night or the night before. Just really wasn't feeling it at all so I decided not to bother. Will regret that when AF arrives again though! Currently CD13 but not due to ovulate for another week or so, so hoping it won't matter matter too much...

From next month we are not tracking at all, and not going to try as hard. I have to say I'm looking forward to it. Obviously we'll still dtd regularly but I'm relieved I won't be in the TWW mindset, because I won't know when it is. May even delete my app so I'm not tempted to check when it thinks I'll be ovulating. Also looking forward to not peeing on OPKs every morning 😂

I really think there is a lot to be said for being relaxed - I felt really stressed out at work, all the time, even when I wasn't there. I went to hand in my notice, and explained we were TTC and I feel too stressed the whole time, nothing is happening and high stress levels couldn't be helping. They were amazing and we agreed not to do anything hasty, and I reduced my hours to part time, with slightly less responsibility. I got pregnant on the next cycle...!

AlisonLew15 · 16/06/2020 09:00

@Daffodil21 well I can't quite believe it but I've got a flashing smiley on my opk already (CD6). I know lots of people get days of them but I didn't expect one so soon! Wonder how long before my peak.

I'm so glad your work have been understanding. Mine were great with me while I was going through a hard time at Christmas. I think they're fully aware that we will be trying again so an announcement wouldn't come as too much of a surprise to them.

I hope your SMEP is going well?
