The first thread I've ever started.

Me age 41 and TTC since mmc in June. Anyone else out there.

OP posts:
minmooch · 05/05/2008 21:15

Rowingboat - can I ask you (or anyone else for that matter ) why are you taking evening primrose oil only up to OV. Is there a reason not to take it all through your cycle? I have just started to take them as an aid to leveling out the hormonal roller coaster ride and I remembered you saying that you were taking them. Pharmacist couldn't advise me as to whether they are harmful whilst ttc. Does evening primrose oil have some positive effects for ttc?

gem2mum · 05/05/2008 22:04

Juciy, I've never seen a positive LH surge (at least only ever a faint line) on any sticks that I've used What does that mean? Does it mean that my surge is too feeble to coax out an egg?? Maybe yes, since I have no BFPs lately!

On another note, just found out that another of my NCT group is PG. I know they are younger than me so I have to expect that it will be easier for them but I do feel a bit envious and feel guilty for feeling that way...DP cant understand me. He thinks that it is irrelevant that our friends are PG. I will put a brave face on it when I see them this week but I would love to be PG too

rowingboat · 05/05/2008 23:14

Min I stop taking EPO after ovulation because I have seen a few sources that say it can cause contractions of the uterus which could possibly make it difficult to sustain a pregnancy. I think it's a pain because I used to take it before AF, but now I can't.
After day 14 it is recommended that you switch to flaxseed oil.
If you take it up to ovulation, it helps to build the uterine lining and improves fertile CM quality. I started taking 1000mg from day 1 of my cycle and noticed immediately that my CM started earlier and there was more of it.

Juicylucytoo · 06/05/2008 07:35

Gem2mum - It's difficult when everyone around you seems to be fall pg at the drop of a hat. I can totally empathise. A friend of mine got her coil taken out one month and was pg the next. Meanwhile we had been trying for 18mths at that point. I was heartbroken. I was actually pg, but didn't know it. Sadly it ended in an mmc, but I got pg with DS 3 months later, so alls well that ends well. We just have to try and stay positive and think it happened before, it will happen again

Second what Rowingboat said about the EPO - that's what I read too.

gem2mum · 06/05/2008 13:19

Ok, thats me off to buy some EPO. I've got my pre-seed, ov sticks and thermometer and folic acid so I shall feel thoroghly set up for next cycle

rowingboat · 06/05/2008 14:48

Yes some people do get pg very easily, but the average time is definitely more than 1 month. I can't remember exactly, but for the over 35s I'm sure it was a year or something. Don't really know what I'm talking about here.
It is a bit annoying isn't it, when it is so easy for people, but you probably all have amazing talents which other people would love to have, it's just that getting pg in one month isn't one of them.
I have decided I am not going to think about being pg because it doesn't really help me at all. Either I am or I aren't, there's not much I can do now. Still, won't be smoking or drinking, but getting on with other stuff for the next couple of weeks.
If we aren't pg then I'll just get back on the treadmill, so I'll have a couple of weeks off just now.
Good luck everyone!

Heron23 · 06/05/2008 17:50

hi all, had a really good break over the weekend, we all went up to north yorkshire. lovely countryside.

it is now dy12 for me today and about to start ttc (again!). i feel more relaxed about the whole thing this month. have acupuncture booked for thurs (ov on fri if cycle follows pattern as per last 2 months).

good luck to you all.

i completely agree about other people getting preg so easily. but then again, i am 42 and 1 month old so will prob take awhile.

Georgially · 08/05/2008 20:52

Hi everyone, I have been out of the loop the last month because I was really struggling to stay positive after a year of TTC. These boards had kept me sane but then I found I had become obsessed with pregnancy and all things baby related

So this month I didn't try to force DH to bed on the right days, didn't bother worrying and then you can guess this week ....

BFP !!

Still not quite getting to grips with it after a year of trying and only a couple of months away from 41 ! so just wanted to wish everyone luck and hope. It will be a while before I graduate to the Ante Natal boards because I am now competely paranoid that the little bean won't stick....

Good luck everyone, keep smiling and keep trying xx

Heron23 · 09/05/2008 09:28

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!! that is great!

this is what my friends have been saying to stop trying to BD on the right days etc.

but obviously you did BD . must have been near or close to your ov day!

this is my 3rd cycle ttc #2 now and i am a lot more relaxed as well. i do still use my clearblue fertility monitor and know when i am about to ov. but then thing is, i am ok if we do not BD on the right day. so far, it has not happened yet and i am not complaining! also i started acupuncture at zitawest clinic. and i feel better!

my son keeps me very busy anyway - with his bday party coming up!

Again a very big CONGRATS, so happy to have a BFP on this thread!

Juicylucytoo · 09/05/2008 10:52

That's great news Georgially!! Here's wishing you a lovely sticky bean

A BFP. How brill. Come on girls who's next??

rowingboat · 09/05/2008 13:39

Georgially, that's fantastic news!!! Hang on in there little egg and take care of each other!
I know I would feel the same way you do, I would probably stay on this thread for nine months if I had a bfp.
I know what you mean about obsessing, it's become annoying for us as well, so this is the two week wait and I am refusing to think about symptoms, testing and all that and getting on with my life.

xserialshopper · 09/05/2008 13:57

Congratulations Georgially

Juicylucytoo · 09/05/2008 16:46

Right Girls I'm offsky. Malaga beckons. Much BDing to do.

Feel free to have lots of BFP's while I'm away. Will check on your progress on my return

Heron23 · 09/05/2008 17:55

have a great holiday Juicy!

Heron23 · 09/05/2008 17:56

Hi All, as of tomorrow i will be on the 2WW. Anyone in the same boat? let us hold hands and keep positive and sane together

Nancy66 · 09/05/2008 18:12

Congrats Georgially - wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

No 2ww for me. Couldn't try this month as OH was overseas at the key time. Fingers crossed for you Heron

Heron23 · 09/05/2008 20:02

thanks Nancy have a good weekend

gem2mum · 09/05/2008 21:20

Big Congratulations Georgially!! Great to hear good news

Juicy- happy hols

Rowing and Heron, I'm with you on the 2WW, although I'm probably on 1ww now. Think that I wont test until CD29 but definitely wont be able to resist leaving it any longer than that. I dont mind too much anyway about a BFN this month since I'd rather not be PG on holiday

Enjoy the fantastic weather all.

giggly · 09/05/2008 22:45

Hi everyone, I have also been out of the loop for a month but unlike Georgially no BFP as yet, but its great to hear her news. I was in Fuerteventura for a few weeks, no BD as dd slept with us every night, however back in the saddle now we are home. Feeling positive with all that sun soaked into my skin.
This will be my 4 cycle and here's hoping no repeat of 46 day cycle in March, I had no idea when I ov, stopped using sticks after £35.
I will try to catch up with everyone, buts its nice to be back.

rowingboat · 10/05/2008 15:40

Good luck everyone! I'm still refusing to even think about it. Everytime I think 'Ooo is that a symptom?' I stop myself. I've had enough of the crazy train.
It's quite a weird day here - does anyone have thunder?

Heron23 · 10/05/2008 20:18

rowing, there was threat of thunder but did not happen. it was a top day today.

i ov'ed yesterday and managed to BD thurs, fri. also tues! DH is tired! will BD again tomorrow morning. it sounds all so regimental doesnt it?

rowingboat · 10/05/2008 22:42

Hup, two three four! Hee hee!
Sorry, couldn't resist!
It did thunder here today 'boom!' and then rained heavily, and DS didn't even seem to notice. I was worried he would be frightened, but no.
I must admit I'm a bit suspicious about all this sunny weather, where everyone says 'ooo, it's going to be a lovely Summer' and then it rains everyday from June to September.
Is this an el nino year?

Georgially · 11/05/2008 08:41

thanks everyone for your kind words.

rowingboat Am trying to relax and not worry about what might go wrong but not quite ready for Ante Natal thread just yet. Especially as this is my first so really paranoid !

Heron yes something must have gone right, but like you I had many months of stress getting DH to get some energy at the right time. I appear to ov early this time. Its interesting I think some others 40+ have said that happened for them the month they got BFP.

Good luck to all on 2www, I was also lucky this month that we have people staying for the first 10 days of mine so it went very quicky and I didn't really think it would happen anyway.

Will keep lurking and hoping for you all that I might see some of you on the other threads soon.

jassara · 11/05/2008 09:05

Hi Ladies could i join you please.
