OP posts:
cece · 20/04/2008 21:30

I used some this month and got a positve just over 2 weeks ago. BD ed alot when I got the positive.

Because I am 5 days late next month I will be away with work when due to ov. I only agreed to it after checking when I would OV and it has buggered it up! Also AF due while on holiday now

lizzythemonkey · 20/04/2008 21:52

hello again all, have been away for a couple of days so trying to catch up!! BDing went very nicely thankyou rowingboat - managed it 3 times over the Clearblue monitor ordained days so hope it does the trick!

Bambi, nice to hear from you again and fingers crossed for you. Cece, sorry about AF and what a pain baout next month's timing. DH has lots of business trips coming up and I am resisting checking them as i don't want to get too fraught if the timing is wrong...

Congrats to Fruitbowl and also to Heron for not testing yet!! You sound quite relaxed this month heron, are you feeling quietly confident after the bding marathon?

Hope I haven't missed anyone, off to bed now...

lizzythemonkey · 20/04/2008 21:54

oops, sorry, that was me, roquefortlover - chnaged my name but will change it back now - RL is my more anonymous name!

rowingboat · 21/04/2008 00:35

I just realised I wrote fruitbasket, instead of fruitbowl - is there such a thing as a fruitbasket?
So AF arrived late last night, surprise (not)!
Sorry to hear AF arrived Cece, on the positive side, if you are definitely not going to be around at OV time next month, you can drink champagne cocktails for brekkie and eat shellfish, pate and soft cheese, or whatever you can't do just in case you are expecting.
So we are on day 1, again!

ohjoy · 21/04/2008 08:11

hello! good morning!

cece, sorry about AF

lizzy roque, yes i am quite calm this month. had a slip up though yesterday. i tested, used an internet cheapie. yesterday was 10dpo and it was BFN. i threw the stick away to make sure DH does not see it

i am getting all sorts of symptoms so just enjoying it because it could all come crashing down on thurs am.

sorry that was a bit negative!

gem2mum · 21/04/2008 11:35

Sorry about AF ceceand how annoying that its messed up your plans. Fingers crossed OhJoy!. I suppose at least clomid gave me my fist 28 day cycle. Oh well, on CD3 now so I'm off to order some pre-seed and ov sticks now!

minmooch · 21/04/2008 11:39

Just wanted to join in. I am 41 and have 2 ds aged 12 and 10. Got remarried recently and have had 2 mc in the last few months. Am ttc again. Find myself counting the days when good to bd and then counting the days until I can check! Spent too much money last month on test kits and am determined not to this month. AF due in 6 days and have fingers and toes crossed. Conceived easily with first 2 ds and have found the mc's rather traumatic but determined to carry on. Have enjoyed the posts on here as it makes me smile when at times all I want is to cry. Thanks ladies.

gem2mum · 21/04/2008 11:55

Hi there Minmooch
Sorry about the mcs Its horrible isn't it, had one in Sept and found it quite shocking. I agree about the day counting - I thought I would be much more relaxed about ttc. I will forget other things but always know which cycle day it is! Glad this site is here cos I cant imagine discussing my ov and AFs with my friends and family. At least you are only 41 so you have time yet. Fingers crossed.

Blessed2 · 21/04/2008 13:54

Hi everyone. I've been to see the consultant who seemed a bit flippant for my taste. He said that I have two choices 1. Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy 2. IVF. By the time he had told me about no.1 I was really scared. We can't afford no.2. So I asked him about clomid and he agreed to give me 6 months worth but no testing in between or follow-up! If I had not mentioned it he would not have suggested it and even went as far as to ask what job I did because I seem to know a lot. He made it seem like 41-42 is an impossible age to get pregnant and that I probably wont. I ignored him. Still he made clomid seem like a really great risk including the fact that 1 side affect is hair loss - I don't have that much hair as it is For those who don't know - I have a blocked right tube.

Oh I'm going to change my name to exserialshopper instead of blessed2 when I find out how to do it.

Heron23 · 21/04/2008 18:25

hi minmooch, sorry about the mcs. i am finding it really hard to wait till thurs morning. i am imagining all sorts of symptoms too. yesterday i felt quite sick in the stomach. but i think that is because of all this waiting and not knowing...

Blessed, sorry to hear about the lousy consultant. what clomid strength did he prescribe you? i will be taking clomid 50mg if i am not preg this month or next month.

gem2mum · 21/04/2008 19:30

Hi Blessed I seem to hear so much scare mongering about how difficult it is to get pregnant over 40 and yet I know of quite a few people, including myself who have, so you are right to ignore him. Wonder why he didnt offer you Clomid without you asking? Dont like the sound of hair loss side affect.I'm just starting month 2 so I'll be looking out for that...

Heron23 · 21/04/2008 19:40

Hi gem, what strength clomid are you on? cos if i luck out this cycle, or next, i will be starting on 50mg.

xserialshopper · 21/04/2008 20:35

Hi heron23 and gem2mum thanks for your comments - I wasnt feeling to opimistic after seeing him. He has given me 6 months worth of 50mg tablets. I did ask him if he would increase the dosage after 2 months if it didn't work but he said no. I think this is because I do actually ovulate and have a 28 day cycle. So I'll be starting around 29th April. Heron how comes you have taken clomid before now? Oh - I've changed my name (the credit cruch has got me .

xserialshopper · 21/04/2008 20:36

I mean 'how comes you HAVE NOT taken clomid before now'

ohjoy · 22/04/2008 11:36

hi x, this is my 2nd cycle ttc. my gynae gave me 50mg clomid to take, if i am not preg this cycle or next cycle.

frankly, i am thinking of taking it for next cycle.

however, she said that clomid is not without its drawbacks, eg, thining uterine lining.

AF is due 2moro night or thurs morning, i am getting very nervous

xserialshopper · 22/04/2008 12:07

Ohjoy it's me Blessed2. I'm trying not to focus on the drawbacks. I think I'll give it 6 months then not bother (with my lap/hyst inbetween). Back to my orginal question 'how comes you have not taken clomid before now?'

herbaceous · 22/04/2008 12:15

You lot and your changing names! Most confusing...

How did you - Heron/ohjoy - get clomid so quickly? I thought you could only get it when not ovulating, and that it had to be dragged from consultants' cold dead hands?

xserialshopper · 22/04/2008 12:18

I ovulate but because I've been trying for nearly 5 years now I thought - why not? - give a try. I've also been a long time lurker on the 'Clomid for the first time' thread but they all seem so tight on that thread that I haven't posted - plus I think I'm way older than them as well

ohjoy · 22/04/2008 13:12

Herb, i have a private gynae and because of my age, she said that there is no time to waste. try for 3 cycles at the most and then go for clomid. i am ovulating and have a 29 day cycle forever. this is my 2nd cycle ttc, i know it is not a long time but due to my age, i dont want to waste time, iykwim.

X, i have not taken clomid before now because this is only my 2nd cycle ttc. and my cycles are regular and conceived DS naturally 5 years ago.

xserialshopper · 22/04/2008 13:26

If I had known what I know now........ I conceived my ds on the first try so I never expected any problems for the second I wish I had know about clomid before - I would have tried it much sooner. I wanted 4 kids with 2 years inbetween them.

ohjoy · 22/04/2008 14:07

X, right now, i wish that we had tried earlier. but i had really bad postnatal after having DS and just did not want to even think about another one!

i also conceived DS on first month and i thought it would be like that again!
