Your DS is about the same age as mine. I am on DY14 at the moment.

since this is our first month ttc, it is all still romantic... i can imagine it becoming a chore

will try to keep it fun for as long as possible

i will tell you about my left ovary tumour tomorrow when i have some time.

good night!

Rowingboat · 16/03/2008 22:36

Hi all, how is everyone? I'm now on day 21 yawn! I am having some interesting symptoms, sore boobs, and a bit of indigestion and a little nausea. However, it's probably because I have been eating mini eggs in preparation for Easter (not the sore boobs though).
I'm not holding my breath though.
I was thinking that tomorrow I would phone the doctor at the fertility clinic and tell him that we won't be pursuing the IVF option, so can he put me on the waiting list for unblocking that tube. See how I get on.
Is Hedgepig still around at all??

worrymerchant · 17/03/2008 08:57

Hello there, can I join in please? I am 42 and TTC since failed IVF in Jan so it's early days yet as Feb cycle was just to get things back in order and get over the trauma.

We have decided to TTC naturally for a few months more before we see if we might do another IVF. I get really irate at the way the medical world just dismiss women over 35 as infertile and incapable of producing a baby. Did you know that technically the term used for us is 'geriatric mothers' ??!!

I am asuming my cycle will be back ot normal htis month in whihc case I count this as day 8 of a 26 day cylcle, whihc makes me due on 27th like you ohjoy. I have been charting and following advice given in Taking Charge of Your Fertility whihc is an excellent book to read. Also taking all hte vits and doign acupuncture.

Just want to say good luck to everyone and feel so glad there are other 'geriatrics' out there too.

PS sorry about my spellings. I type too fast and never reread it til i've posted. Der.

Rowingboat · 17/03/2008 14:28

Heehee! I love it! I think I will request an ambulance and wheelchair for my next hospital appointment - and an ear trumpet.
Haven't phoned yet, will do that now!

Rowingboat · 18/03/2008 23:10

Thought I would check in. I'm on day 23 today and feeling quite low. I started Agnus Castus on a low dose this cycle and I vaguely remember this happening before in the past. It's too early for my usual day of being a bit fed-up, so not sure what this is about?
Blooming TTC!! Grr!
I am now considering acupuncture as have heard quite a few success stories. Has anyone tried this? I'm not sure how many sessions are normal and what the cost is though, so I need to do a bit or research.
Hugs to all of us!!

jennykb · 19/03/2008 07:09

I only post occasionally, but I read this thread avidly! My dh and I had acupuncture when we were trying to conceive first time round. We did conceive naturally, but I really can't be certain that the acupuncture was responsible. There were so many factors at play. My dh who is very skeptical thinks it had nothing to do with it! It is expensive, but I think if you have any faith in it, it's worth a try, just so you feel you've done all you can.

jennykb · 19/03/2008 07:38

Hi WorryMerchant. It's good to see you on this thread.

Heron23 · 19/03/2008 09:06

Morning all,
it is dy22 for me today. had blood test done yesterday to determine whether i ovulated this month or not. i think i did because i was checking my cm plus using fertility monitor as well. and i did get +ve for ovulation. anyway, i am finding it so hard to think about anything but....babies!

it is only dy6 post ovulation, so it is too early to test yet. my boobs are getting sore, but thats only normal for AF coming as well! my body temp has remained high tho...

grrrrr, i hate waiting! even DH is getting impatient!

i think i am off to have some breakfast and watch divatv!

rowingboat, when is AF due for you?

lilibet · 19/03/2008 12:02

Hello

I just wish someone would join who is older than me - I hate being the 'granny' of the thread!!

anyhow loads of ewcm yesterday (on day 10) but still nothing when i wee on the sticks - sorry if TMI!!

And everyone is either announcing pregnancies, or having babies, or visiting babies, or talking about babies

Wish I could switch off

Heron23 · 19/03/2008 12:36

i know what u mean, i cannot switch off either.

loads of ewcm, i was like that at dy10 as well, then i got +ve ov on dy 15. the cm will actually become really stretchy the day before ov.

good luck!

i am 42, so i think i am the oldest prob?

Blessed2 · 19/03/2008 16:21

Hi everyone . I'm still waiting for my HSG. Apparently our local women's hospital is out of the medical equiptment they need and will have to out source our appointments .

Heron I'm still waiting to hear about your left ovary tumour!!!!

Where's birthdaycake who started this thread?

Rowingboat I hope you feel more upbeat.

Rowingboat · 19/03/2008 19:13

Hi everyone! Thank you Blessed! I do feel a bit better. Actually bought some cheap pregnancy tests from Ebay - just in case.
[ha ha!]
Oh and I am due AF on the 23rd, which is also Easter Sunday.
There seems to be a kind of split over whether it is best to take Agnus Castus for 14 days or for the entire cycle. Perhaps I should just do the 14 days, because I really don't want to feel depressed for the last week of my cycle. I don't usually feel this way, which makes me suspect the Ag. Cast. Funny because it is supposed to improve PMS, but then I didn't have a big PMS problem, so it has done the opposite.
Oh the latest is that I phoned my Doctor and got an appointment next Wednesday, to talk about unblocking the tube!! I wonder if he will give me any cool drugs or other options??
Lilibet, don't feel bad! We need you here and you are not a granny, more of a sophisticated, mature person.
Thanks for the info on acupuncture Jenni, it might be expensive, but then what isn't when TTC? It has to be cheaper than IVF.
Good to see so many people on here!

pearlB · 19/03/2008 21:02

hi really helpful reading about all your experiences. I am 43 and i have 2 year old DS, 1 mc before he was born and 1 after, feel really traumatised but can't quite give up on it . Thought of another mc very scary don 't know if could bear it. Also TTC alone through clinic though no fertility probs. Feel bit stuck with making a decision and time goes on ticking.

giggly · 24/03/2008 23:49

Hi everyone I've been lurking about this month I seem to have had no time to sit down with mn. Hope everyone is well, and thinking of rb and h23 due af this week, here's hoping not.
My cycle is all over the place, I used ov sticks for about 10 days but seems I was way out, as EWMS was about a week later than I expected. Then had urine infection so could'nt bd.Now on d35, but feel af is on her way. I had decided last month was my month and was surprised at how upset I got, so this month I have shot down those baby thoughts.
God this is hard work, hats of to all the ladies who have been doing this forever.

Oh and I dont care if I am an older mum, its a good excuse to going slower and not wearing skinny jeans. Ever.

Rowingboat · 25/03/2008 12:16

Hi everyone! It's no luck here, AF came ooon Saturday, or was it Sunday. It must have been Sunday, because I think that was when it was due. Doh! I must update FF so that I can keep a track on my cycles.
Have an appointment with the doc again tomorrow and after more discussion with DP we are going to go for one cycle of IVF (for now) by saving the money furiously. In the meantime, hopefully, we won't need it and can cancel, but the doc said it might take 6 months to actually get onto the IVF programme.
I did have some funny symptoms after ovulation, but nothing later in my cycle, so I'm not surprised that there was no BFP. So I don't feel upset or worried, just kind of it will happen or it won't.
There's always adoption if we don't have any luck in the next eighteen months.
I can't see me going on with TTC after 42, but that's just me.
We have some info from our nearest agency. Has anyone else considered this option?

ohjoy · 25/03/2008 12:52

rowingboat, i am so sorry to hear AF got you.

thanks giggly, AF is due wed evening or thurs am. will post the results.

let us all keep positive and upbeat!

Rowingboat · 25/03/2008 13:14

Heron, are you at work!!

ohjoy · 25/03/2008 14:31

hi rowingboat, yes i am! and 2 moro as well.
are you at home? how are you feeling?

Rowingboat · 25/03/2008 14:46

Yay! I'm at home!! I'm off until Friday night, and I'm trying to persuade DS to go out with me, but he wants to play with his cars.
It's so cold outside, I can't bear it! Brrrr!
Had too much chocolate at Easter, feel a bit guilty.
