TTC after miscarriage - January 2020

Hello all (and late Merry Christmas!)

Looking for TTC buddies in a similar situation! 👋

In September I accidentally became pregnant. We had planned to begin TTC in Jan 2020 anyway, so we were really excited. Sadly, at my 12 week scan on 25th Nov, I found out I had had a missed miscarriage and the baby had stopped growing at about 9 weeks. The week that followed was one of the most traumatic in my life, having failed medical management and then an ERPC. All this happened whilst I was in another country.

Since then my recovery has been okay but all I can think about is wanting to be pregnant again and have been hoping and praying that my period returns soon so that we can officially start trying.

This morning I have had brown discharge and cramping, so it does feel like AF is on the way. So I guess I am going to count today as CD1 of my first official TTC cycle?

I wondered if anyone had been through anything similar and if so I am so sorry for your loss and what you had to go through. It really is a horrendous time. 💐

Anyone want to join me? 💕

@GemLou88 it’s so hard isn’t it. I feel like some sort of crazy obsessed person. It’s all I can think about! I genuinely think 50% of the time I’m awake I’m thinking about being pregnant or counting down the days to ovulation or AF/BFP etc. 🙈

Hey @Ejb86 that’s so rubbish you’re having a bleed again so soon after AF. I’m sure it’s completely normal while your body is getting back to normal. I’m not sure about OPKs as I have never used them, sorry. Hope the doctors can give you some answers. 😘

@TerribleImagination have you tracked your ovulation this month? I’m excited for you to be in the TWW! Feel free to share any symptom spotting on here! 🙊

Welcome to the thread @hannahs87 and @helly013 so sorry for your losses 😘 when are you due AF?

@StephyRose 😘

@Bath2020 welcome and so sorry for your loss. Don’t worry at all - no judgment here lovely - post what you like, vent, cry, laugh, tell us what you had for dinner! We are all here to support each other - even if sometimes it’s just a virtual hug 🤗

Morning,
I got another negative opk this morning so really hoping I caught ovulation on 2nd- fingers crossed I’m in my TWW!!!

TerribleImagination · 04/01/2020 11:37

@MilsCookie I haven’t tracked this month, but I did the 2 months after first TTC so I got to know what was happening with my EWCM when I got my peak day, so I’m grateful my body has a spot on routine! Told myself I’d just DTD every other day when I know I’m in the fertile week, and if it doesn’t work this month then go back to using OPK’s next month. Fingers crossed for this month though! I got the metallic taste in my mouth super early last time 🤞🏻

Michette · 04/01/2020 12:00

Question to ladies tracking CM...

How do you see it? When dtd? Or you go inside and check? If yes how far?

I have never been able to really check because not sure how to look for it Hmm

GemLou88 · 04/01/2020 12:07

@DisneyMummySince2010 fingers crossed for you. The TWW goes so slow x

MilsCookie · 04/01/2020 12:48

Fingers crossed for you both @DisneyMummySince2010 @TerribleImagination - exciting times! It’s funny to think we could all be in month 1 of our pregnancies but we just don’t know it yet!! Lots and lots of baby dust and positive vibes to everyone! 🍀 💫 @TerribleImagination - I also got the weird metallic taste down the sides of my tongue a few days before AF was due - for me that was almost the most obvious symptom because I’d never had it before!

@Michette I am just aware that my cm changes throughout the month as I see it in my knickers! Usually a week/few days before ovulation I get more CM and maybe one day of EWCM (although I don’t always notice that) and then it sort of dries up again after I’ve ovulated and there’s less of it. But interested in what others say!

Forgot to add: I just met the friend I mentioned in a previous post who did of course announce that she was pregnant. She’s due 2 weeks after I would’ve had my baba 😔 so that’s going to be really hard when it gets to June. She already has a little bump and can feel the baby move etc. I am so so happy for her but can’t help thinking; that should’ve been me as well! It’s so difficult.

Michette · 04/01/2020 13:15

@MilsCookie i thought i had ewcm three days ago... now it’s just more discharge. But more watery...
Also just took my opk and i think i m about to ovulate.
Compared to yesterday! Crazy progression

Getting excited Smile

Michette · 04/01/2020 13:16

@Anny27 maybe not a cycle without ovulation.
Thank god!

Ejb86 · 04/01/2020 14:00

@MilsCookie @TerribleImagination I had the metallic taste when i was pregnant with my son. None with the twins though. Isn't it interesting how symptoms differ?

Bath2020 · 04/01/2020 14:37

Thanks so much @MilsCookie @ChampooPapi I really needed that. My family are all saying “at least you know you can get pregnant” which is totally unhelpful and also that I can’t just mope around and must get on with life - which I know myself but gosh give me a week to be sad like. Anyway here’s to AF coming in a month and getting back on the baby making train Wink. I’m going to my other GP (because I am mid moving counties at the moment so had been seeing two gps ante natal wise) on Monday and will tell her I’ve miscarried. I’m making a list of questions for her re: when can I try again etc etc. I’ll keep you all informed if there is anything different from what’s already posted! I doubt it bc you all seem to know everything! Thanks for I found this group. Good luck gals and biggest love to you xx

GoldenBauble · 04/01/2020 15:42

Hi all! Hope everyone is doing ok. My period has made a surprise appearance this morning 4.5 weeks post surgery! My hcg levels earlier this week weren't quite classed as negative yet and I was still getting faint positives on pregnancy tests so I'd geared myself up for it not arriving for another couple of weeks but I've never been so relieved for its arrival! I think I'm finally starting to feel a tinge of excitement about the future and ttc again now, which is the first time since September! At least I know things are getting back to normal now and we can finally start to properly move on 🤗.

Good luck to everyone who has started to try again this month! We're still going to wait a few months but I'm staying on this thread for the positive vibes and hopefully lots of success stories 🤞. I'm being really strict with our new health regime much to my husbands dismay!

@milscookie that is hard news to hear. I can only imagine how you feel, I know I would be happy but devastated at the same time. I also meant to say thanks for sharing your scan photo the other day. We chose not to take a photo at the time we found out about our MMC as it just felt too painful to see. As it was a private scan they did say we could return to collect it if we changed our minds and part of me is now wondering if we should. I still have my positive pregnancy tests from when we found out and I think I should probably put it all together somewhere. Initially I thought I'd find it too hard to keep seeing everything as a reminder but now I'm feeling like it was still my baby and I should have the photo.

Anyway, hope you're all having a lovely weekend 😊

Michette · 04/01/2020 17:22

@GoldenBauble good news! You must be relieved. New chapter to come...
Good luck with the health regime :)Flowers

TerribleImagination · 04/01/2020 17:58

@MilsCookie @Ejb86 It’s such a strange one! I thought when it appeared for me that it was too soon, so thought it was something to do with an old root canal that still gives me grief 🤣 But then it was the last symptom to disappear post miscarriage too, so it was deffo related. Kinda good to know really, should take some of the stress out of the TWW going forward, even thought I’m sure symptoms can vary pregnancy to pregnancy. If I get pregnant again and don’t get it, I’m totally gonna be wondering if it’s twins now 🤣

Cruiser1 · 04/01/2020 21:13

Hi ladies.... could I join??

I have 1 beautiful daughter she’s 2 and half
I had my first miscarriage in Sept 2019 at 6 weeks and my second 2 weeks ago at 7 weeks 😣💔

First one was devastating and took me by surprise because I had such an easy and uneventful pregnancy with my daughter and was fairly assuming as a result!
Second one I was terrified as soon as I got BFP but was comforted by perfectly doubling HCGs ..... when the bleeding started I think my heart stopped 💔

So..... I’m desperate to be pregnant again

Iv had a few tests and awaiting results. Possibly a borderline hypo thyroid .... we will see!

Anyways.... like OP it’s the only thing I can think off 90% of the day 😥

Xx

FireflyGirl · 04/01/2020 22:04

Hey, wondering if I could join in?

I had a traumatic mmc last summer, negligently handled by the hospital and resulting in medical management, and then a CP in November.

We took last month off to recoup, and are going to start ttc again this month. I started AF this morning, so on CD1. I have quite short cycles, so my fertile window starts pretty much as soon as AF finishes!

MilsCookie · 05/01/2020 08:51

@Bath2020 I know...it’s bloody annoying isn’t it. I’m sure people say those things with the best intentions but I don’t think they understand that we need a bit of time to grieve. I definitely felt I was grieving quite badly for the first week after the ERPC. I actually had a horrible pain/weight in my chest that went with it and it turned out that was psychosomatic and calmed down if I did some deep breathing etc. It’s really ok to still feel sad lovely, I mean, it’s only just happened!! 💐 yes please defo let us know what the doctor says. We don’t know it all! (I definitely don’t anyway!!)

@GoldenBauble yayyy well done AF!! 👊🏼 You must be so relieved! It’s a strange one having the scan photo. It makes me feel sad every time I look at it, and I actually can’t look at it sometimes, but I’m glad I have it. My DP bought me a necklace for Christmas with a little Vietnamese hat pendant. We were actually in Vietnam when I lost the baby and spent 3 days in a hospital there going through the medical and the surgical management. At the time he bought me a teddy wearing one of those hats to stay with me in the hospital. So the necklace with the hat will always remind me of that time but mainly I wear it to feel close to my bubba. ❤️
Maybe if you feel better in time, you could go and ask the hospital for a copy. It just depends what makes you feel better 😘 Also even though you’re not TTC straight away I’m happy you’re staying with us! I hope you’ll tell us your BFP story when it comes later in the year ☺️

@TerribleImagination @Ejb86 haha yeah that’s a good point! 👶🏻 👶🏻 it’s weird. The taste in my mouth left when I got to about 6 weeks pregnant. Then it appeared again as I was miscarrying. I wonder if it’s to do with a certain percentage level of the HCG hormone? Like mine went once the HCG had got up, then came back once it was going down? Strange. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Welcome @Cruiser1 and @FireflyGirl so sorry for your losses. I’m so sorry for the way you were treated by the hospital Firefly. It’s a traumatic enough experience as it is, without the hospital being terrible. 😘 Hopefully this thread can help you and you’ll feel some comfort and support from all the wonderful, brave ladies here. Cruiser let us know you get on with your results. At least if you know what could be causing it then you can take action to prevent it happening again. 😘

CD11 for me today ladies and 2 days away from my fertile week! Can’t wait for aaaalll the sex haha 🤪😂

It’s ovulation time for me!
Got the pain in my right one and the opk is positive today (pics attached with yesterday morning, afternoon and evening and this morning).

It’s only 13 days since the heavy bleeding started of MC and 15 days since it all started.
It’s crazy how the body recovers...

We are going to use pre seed today, has anyone used it before?

I am still taking Antibiotics though but i read that Docxycicline is not harmful in early pregnancy, what do you think?

@MilsCookie
I share the excitment around this time Wink

TTC after miscarriage - January 2020
DisneyMummySince2010 · 05/01/2020 12:19

That’s so exciting @Michette
I’m not sure about those particular antibiotics but if you’ve read the information leaflet and it says it’s okay than I wouldn’t worry- relax and have some fun!!!

GemLou88 · 05/01/2020 12:41

When did you ladies using OPK test start using them after your first AF after your miscarriage? Did you start using them straight away or go by your old cycle? My first AF stopped yesterday. Don’t know if it’s worth testing now incase ovulation isn’t the same as before with my body becoming regular again

Michette · 05/01/2020 13:52

@GemLou88 i started using as soon as the pregnancy test was negative as the opk picked up hcg. But you can use as soon as AF stops if you have negative pregnancy test

StephyRose · 05/01/2020 16:35

Happy Sunday everyone, hope you are all having a lovely day. Back to work for me tomorrow 🤢

@MilsCookie well done for being an amazing friend. 💗 it will be your turn soon. I have a few pregnant friends at the moment and one friend (who DP and I double dated with last night) is trying at the same time as us now. I'll be so happy for her and her husband but gutted if it takes us longer to concieve. We are allowed to feel this was though, considering what we have been through.

@Anny27 thanks for the info love. I might get one but I managed to catch my LH surge this month - which was not when I originally thought it was, this time last week! 🤣🙈 - and I had it Friday and Sat, so I am 1DPO now. Nervous times. But although the OPKs are working I suppose tracking temperature is a much cheaper alternative. Shall give it a go next time, if I dont get luck this month. 😊 You were so right about those seven seas tablets by the way, totally regulated my cycle. I've gone from having random lengths every month (between 24 - 28 days) to a solid 28 days. Makes planning for ovulation so much easier 💗

@Michette baby dust to you in this fertile time! 💗👶🏼💙 we ovulated at the same time so we shall we doing the TWW together. How long are your cycles usually?

@GemLou88 I started using OPK's before my first AF after the ERPC. But I never caught the surge until this first full cycle after the MC.

@FireflyGirl @Cruiser1 welcome ladies, so so sorry for your losses. This is the thread for all the rainbow babies 🌈🌈 know you will get yours soon ❤❤.

I am 1DPO folks so I start the TWW. Have not missed the anticipation and nervous excitement of this time at all! 🤣

Michette · 05/01/2020 18:45

My cycle is usually 30 days but i don’t know as i was on the pill so period was according to how i took it and was more withdrawal bleed and got pregnant straight after stopping so no period and now just miscarried two weeks ago so no periods yet...
But from my time not on the pill it was around 30 days.

Did another opk tonight still super strong so lh surge ongoing and from what i read we ovulate when the surge stops no?

What about you ?
Or when are you planning on testing??

Baby dust to you too Wink

Cruiser1 · 05/01/2020 19:52

@michette I have been getting positive OPK since the miscarriage 😩 even though the hpt is negative 😭
I’m on day 15 now so I’m just DTD anyway and hoping for the best

Mammacooks · 05/01/2020 20:19

@cruiser1
Very annoyingly I think that OPKs can be unreliable immediately after miscarriage. I had a negative HPT about a week after and then was using clearblue OPKs and ovulation showed up twice... either way tracking by when my AF arrived we hadn’t DTD early enough to catch it anyway.
Definitely a good tactic to just try and DTD every other day or often in a hope to catch it! Good luck everyone x
