TTC after miscarriage - January 2020

Hello all (and late Merry Christmas!)

Looking for TTC buddies in a similar situation! 👋

In September I accidentally became pregnant. We had planned to begin TTC in Jan 2020 anyway, so we were really excited. Sadly, at my 12 week scan on 25th Nov, I found out I had had a missed miscarriage and the baby had stopped growing at about 9 weeks. The week that followed was one of the most traumatic in my life, having failed medical management and then an ERPC. All this happened whilst I was in another country.

Since then my recovery has been okay but all I can think about is wanting to be pregnant again and have been hoping and praying that my period returns soon so that we can officially start trying.

This morning I have had brown discharge and cramping, so it does feel like AF is on the way. So I guess I am going to count today as CD1 of my first official TTC cycle?

I wondered if anyone had been through anything similar and if so I am so sorry for your loss and what you had to go through. It really is a horrendous time. 💐

Anyone want to join me? 💕

@Anny27 I love your honesty! 😂 When will you next year?

BecsterG · 14/01/2020 12:09

@Cruiser1 sorry I should’ve should really proof read before I submit!! I meant do you normally feel your boobs like that or is it unusual for you?

GoldenBauble · 14/01/2020 12:58

@Anny27 I'm glad you've said you can often see a line! I never got a properly negative test after surgery before my period arrived. Once my period arrived I stopped testing as I figured everything was back to normal now. Out of interest this morning I did one to see if it was definitely negative and I swear I can still see a shadow of a second line! I asked my husband and he can see it slightly too. I've convinced myself it's just because I KNOW where that bloomin line should be now after starring at so many 😂. I'm definitely not pregnant as there has been no baby dancing around here yet 🤦🏼‍♀️😂.

I've just had an appointment come through for a scan this week. Wasn't expecting it so rang to see what it was for. Apparently they found a 4.5cm cyst on my ovary at a previous scan so it's a follow up to make sure it's resolved or resolving itself 😱 if not they said I might need surgery to remove it so it doesn't cause any complications. I am a little miffed as they did mention the cyst previously but I was reassured it was completely normal following a pregnancy and to just be mindful if I got any pain to get it checked out. I'm now a little anxious (again!) following the conversation I've had with the hospital where they mentioned potential surgery and a little annoyed that I wasn't told before that there would be any follow up!! When will this all end?! 😫

Cruiser1 · 14/01/2020 13:12

@Anny27 you gave me a little giggle there 😂
I agree though because sometimes I can see a faint line!
On the last pregnancy I could see a faint line, my husband said I was crazy 😝 then 2 days later BFP on a first response 🙌🏼
You would laugh if you saw me standing at the window holding it up to the light 😂

Feel so much less alone!!

We are all legends.

Testing at 2dpo - 🥇

Michette · 14/01/2020 14:20

@GoldenBauble hope the cyst wi sort itself out...
They were also looking at mine closely at the scan post MC but apparently they turned out ok.

toomanyleggings · 14/01/2020 14:31

@GoldenBauble I think you do get line eyes. I've been peeing on sticks now practically every day since the begging of November. First for ovulation, then pregnancy, then to check pregnancy was progressing, now to check my hcg is dropping and trying to keep an eye out hit ovulation. I swear the woman at the till in the supermarket gave me a funny look today when I was buying more tests!

BS9790 · 14/01/2020 18:25

Out of curiosity how early did everyone have pregnancy symptoms with previous pregnancies?

I was feeling crap from around 5dpo last time. I'd said to my hubby if my AF comes and I'm not Pg ill need to see the gp because something isn't right!!

StephyRose · 14/01/2020 19:00

Hi @BS9790

The only symptoms I had was a tingly nipple ONCE at 4DPO. Seems like an obvious one but my boobs are never sore, even during PMS. And I never get tingly nipples so I thought that was odd.

And I had implantation cramps 12DPO. That was it really.

Never had any pregnancy symptoms at all, all the way up to when I found out about the MMC at 11 weeks. Apparently that is also a sign that something isn't quite right too. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bring on the nausea, the sore boobs and metallic taste next time!

Had odd cramps again this morning, 4 days before AF due 🤞 I cant help but be so hopeful xx

Ejb86 · 14/01/2020 19:05

@MilsCookie I have done this too! My due date if I am lucky this cycle will be 29th September. 2 days after the anniversary of the day I gave birth to my girls.

When we were TTC my lb, we started trying in around March, not expecting to drop lucky straight away. Lb was born on 21st Dec. Everyone in my family has mad sure to do his birthday and christmas separately.

didslysquiddlydoo · 14/01/2020 19:08

@BS9790 I had symptoms from around 4/5dpo each time - always got heartburn, which was the main symptom for me! Oh, and really vivid dreams and bad sleep! People normally say it's too early to have symptoms but I've known all three times that I was pg well before af was due (but lost all three too so don't know if there's any correlation!)

didslysquiddlydoo · 14/01/2020 19:12

@Ejb86 snap! Mine would be 29th September too 🙈 How are you coping with the TWW?

BS9790 · 14/01/2020 19:19

@didslysquiddlydoo, yes I felt awful from around 5dpo. I knew well before AF was due and before tests were showing positive. Was feeling sick, really bloated and uncomfortable. I described it at the EPU as feeling really full, my stomach felt as if I was/had been tensing my muscles. After the MC I wondered if it was a sign there was sometime wrong in the pregnancy from the get go. X

GoldenBauble · 14/01/2020 19:22

I didn't really have any pregnancy symptoms either. At the time I thought I was really lucky but I've also wondered if it was a sign all along that something wasn't quite right. Who knows. When I did my first pregnancy test I genuinely didn't think it would be positive. I did it when I first woke up and put it on the side and forgot about it! I was symptom spotting too and honestly can't say I felt any different to what I do before my period arrives. After I had a positive test I had some mild period type cramps but that was it 🤷🏼‍♀️

MilsCookie · 14/01/2020 20:10

@BS9790 I think I’ve said it on here already so sorry if I sound like a broken record! But when I was pregnant I knew something was up because I always get sore boobs as a PMS symptom around 7-10 days before AF is due. Guaranteed boob pain every month. The month I was pregnant I had ZERO boob pain. I was baffled but then thought, could I be pregnant?! And then a couple of days before I did the pregnancy test (I think around 13dpo) I got the weird metallic taste down the sides of my tongue. I also had some really WEIRD vivid dreams and couldn’t bad sleep. In one of my dreams I dreamt I was eating 💩- like seriously wtf is that all about. I woke up like 🤮🤮🤮. Also made me think I might be pg and by this point my period was late haha!! I started to get really painful boobs when I was around 6 weeks but by that point I knew I was pregnant. And pretty much the day after I took the PT I started getting nausea (CD38 so around 17dpo!)
I’m going to be looking out for similar symptoms this month! I think I am 1dpo but tbh have no actual idea as don’t know when I ovulated. I currently have a banging headache and was a bit constipated this morning (the joys) which makes me think my progesterone is on the rise and therefore I must have ov’d!

OP posts:
GemLou88 · 14/01/2020 21:01

@MilsCookie is constipation a sign of ovulation? I have no idea. I don’t think I’ve ovulated this month but if I had by my op I would be 1 DPO too and constipated today. I’m hoping my OPK are wrong where I’ve had no peak x

Ejb86 · 14/01/2020 21:09

@didslysquiddlydoo coping ok. Symptom spotting though. So far I've had crazy dreams, tiredness, bleeding gums, feeling cold, and now tender nipples. This could just be a bad latch on my son's part though as I'm still bf him. Feeding him to sleep tonight I was thinking about testing.

How is it for you?

MilsCookie · 14/01/2020 21:13

@GemLou88 from my obsessive 🙈extensive reading around ovulation/TTC once you have ovulated, the follicle that released the egg turns into the corpus luteum, which produces progesterone. This hormone can slow down bowel contractions which is why we feel constipated. I could definitely be reading way too much into why I struggled to go to the toilet this morning 😂 but that was my thinking behind it!! 🙈

GemLou88 · 14/01/2020 21:15

@MilsCookie crazy to be excited over being constipated but look at us 😂 fingers crossed that’s what it is for us 🤞🏻

didslysquiddlydoo · 14/01/2020 21:24

@Ejb86 Eeek they're some exciting symptoms?! I'm having quite a few symptoms too - heartburn, period-like cramps, crazy dreams, and one bout of metallic taste in mouth yesterday.. trying not to get hopes up though as past two months had very similar symptoms and both were chemicals. I'm gonna try hold off on testing... (who am I kidding?!!)

MilsCookie · 14/01/2020 21:24

@GemLou88 😂😂😂 it’s also just a normal part of your cycle - doesn’t mean pregnancy but at least I think it means there was an egg there at some point in the last few days to potentially be fertilised hahaha! 🙈🤞

MilsCookie · 14/01/2020 21:25

@didslysquiddlydoo @Ejb86 I’m excited for you both!!! When are you testing? 🤞✨👣🎇 sending lots of luck and baby dust your way!!

Anny27 · 14/01/2020 21:37

@milscookie that explains my toilet troubles this morning 🤣🤣🤣

I was just laughing thinking what if I worked with one of you and had no idea and I am talking to work colleagues about cervical mucus and bowel movements and how oftern I have sex 🤣🤣🤣

Ejb86 · 14/01/2020 21:51

@MilsCookie @didslysquiddlydoo I'm now in bed exhausted. Poorly toddler, returning to work and TWW are not a good combo.

I'm going to try and hold out! I knew a good 3 or 4 days before AF was due with my little boy but didn't tell hubby until the day after AF was due because I knew he wouldn't believe it
