TTC after miscarriage - January 2020

Hello all (and late Merry Christmas!)

Looking for TTC buddies in a similar situation! 👋

In September I accidentally became pregnant. We had planned to begin TTC in Jan 2020 anyway, so we were really excited. Sadly, at my 12 week scan on 25th Nov, I found out I had had a missed miscarriage and the baby had stopped growing at about 9 weeks. The week that followed was one of the most traumatic in my life, having failed medical management and then an ERPC. All this happened whilst I was in another country.

Since then my recovery has been okay but all I can think about is wanting to be pregnant again and have been hoping and praying that my period returns soon so that we can officially start trying.

This morning I have had brown discharge and cramping, so it does feel like AF is on the way. So I guess I am going to count today as CD1 of my first official TTC cycle?

I wondered if anyone had been through anything similar and if so I am so sorry for your loss and what you had to go through. It really is a horrendous time. 💐

Anyone want to join me? 💕

@Michette funnily enough the month I conceived my daughter was the month I had no ovulation pain

toomanyleggings · 12/01/2020 17:53

@MilsCookie he has children already and I have one dc. We don't have any together yet but I'm hoping

toomanyleggings · 12/01/2020 18:11

Actually I've just done a pregnancy test and it is still positive although fainter. The pregnancy test I did yesterday must have been rubbish as I could barely see the line on that. Top one is an ovulation test bottom is pregnancy test. Hmmm how confusing

@Michette glad you're feeling better today 😊
We are actively trying this month, straight after MC in December... haven't waited for first AF.
Not feeling like it's gonna be the month for us, and that's OK. When we fell pregnant last time, I just knew!
AF not due til 31st Jan using pre MC cycle length, it feels like a lifetime away... 😂

Michette · 12/01/2020 19:28

@toomanyleggings ok so no ovulation is not positive it’s the hcg being picked up :/

Cruiser1 · 12/01/2020 22:57

@toomanyleggings I had that too at your stage - I DTD just Incase but then the OPKs went negative for about 3 days then I got a strong positive around day 18 so DTD again

I think the early ones were just left over HCG from miscarriage even though my pregnancy tests were negative while OPKs were still positive

Anyway my point is .... keep doing the OPKs because you could ovulate later in the cycle

Good luck 😊

Thank you ladies! I’m still in shock! My EDD is 23 September 2020. Digital confirmed this morning!

Everything is all happening at once so I need to find a house before I end up pregnant and homeless!

I’m over the moon though. I recently had a diagnosis of PCOS and was incredibly worried that my last pregnancy was just a fluke but the very time my husband and I relaxed and dtd 3 days in a row just for fun was the very time I got pregnant!

I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for everyone else on this thread. Keep the faith and when you least expect it, it can happen!

Amazing news @MrsB16!! Lovely to have our first BFP ... gives us all something to look forward to. Wishing you so much love ❤

My app says AF due in 5 days so either Fri or Sat. At this current moment I'm over the TWW after having got myself in such a frenzy symptom spotting last week. I'd just like to know either way now so I can move on to next month ... it's awful isn't it? Makes you wish your life away. And I feel like I just imagined those cramps now anyway. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not sure to test or just to wait for AF. 🤔 We are staying with friends this weekend in Newcastle (other end of the country to us) and so I think it wouldn't be a good idea as if its BFN I'll be in a bad mood and we are meant to be going out on the town. Torn about what to do.

@MilsCookie hopeful for you for ovulation soon 🤞🤞 might be just around the corner now. 💗❤

@Anny27 you have made a sterling effort, well done!! 🤣🏅 let us know it you spot any symptoms. 💗❤

mlax · 13/01/2020 07:17

Ahhh amazing news @MrsB16!!! 💗💗💗 congratulations!!!

I'm in the same boat as you @StephyRose, although I've taken 2 early tests now and both been negative but had so many symptoms of being pregnant and now I'm just like I have to now deal with the fact that 2 weeks before my AF, I will suffer with dizziness, lightheadedness, backache, urinating during the night and more frequently, stomach cramps, shooting pains in stomach and back, tiredness. Just a ball ache.

Roll on the next month 😌

StephyRose · 13/01/2020 07:24

Ballache @mlax, love that expression!! 🤣🤣 And that is exactly what it is. I could've written the list you have just put up myself. Eugh, hate this. Stupid MC making us do this all over again!

I think I only want one baby now 👶🏼💗💙, cant be doing this again. A baby and a dog. 😋🐶

Next month for you 💗❤🤞 when is AF due?

Cruiser1 · 13/01/2020 07:36

Awwww @MrsB16 I’m so delighted for you 🥰 keep us posted on progress

These sore boobs are so unusual for me it’s starting to convince me I’m pregnant which as you all know is dangerous in our position..... false hope leads to devastation if AF arrives 😔
I have prescription for progesterone to take as soon as I get a BFP as my progesterone has been very low on both miscarriages. So I’v already tested and of course BFN ..... I’m gonna year every morning until AF I think

Internet cheapies so at least it’s not costing me a fortune!

The TWW is awful

mlax · 13/01/2020 07:43

@StephyRose awful isn't it. The human body SUCKS!!

My AF is due either Wednesday or Thursday so very soon 😌 that's providing my cycles have gone back to every 28 days!! I hope so, the wait would kill me 😩 when are you???

@Cruiser1 feeling your pain. Sore boobs is a weird one though isn't it!!! That's usually my first sign of being pregnant but none of us want to get our hopes up ☹️

Cruiser1 · 13/01/2020 07:52

Yes @mlax I’m afraid to get my hopes up but the sore boobs is very unusual for me. Then I read a while back that early symptoms can mean a chemical pregnancy - not sure how true that is!
My nerves are gone!!! Wake me up in 2 weeks 😩

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 13/01/2020 08:05

@MrsB16 that's so lovely Star

We are officially ttc again Smile
MC 3rd Jan, bfn 6th Jan
Bleeding stopped day before yesterday so the plan is just to BD as many days as we can manage until either AF or BFP!!
Not waiting around for AF, will just have to symptom spot which was a full time hobby during the Tww last time!!

Sparkl · 13/01/2020 08:11

Thanks @MilsCookie trying not to stress. Have had three since, first was really short, think they’re getting longer. It isn’t what I’m used to but then it’s so little on the first two days that if you weren’t TTC you might not see it. Obvs making me hope it’s implantation each time!

@Cruiser1 did you get progesterone prescription from GP or from the hospital?

Hope everyone’s surviving the TWW!

toomanyleggings · 13/01/2020 10:19

@Cruiser1 I'd like to know too about the progesterone?

BS9790 · 13/01/2020 10:41

Does anyone get ovulation pains? What are they like?

Michette · 13/01/2020 11:05

@MrsB16
@Cruiser1 also need to know about it?

What about baby aspirin? What do you think?

@bs9790 mine are like a heavy pain on the working side (always the right for me) and proper sharp pain if touched or moved in the wrong way especially DTD is super painful when lying on my back...

MilsCookie · 13/01/2020 11:23

@Sparkl ahhh that sounds tough getting your hopes up to be implantation bleeding 😞 our bodies are so cruel! Fingers crossed your next one is longer/you get a BFP!!

@BS9790 I think I get ovulation pains. Around the middle of my cycle I get like a dull ache/stabbing pain on my left side. Interesting @Michette that yours is always on your right, mine is always on my left!! Although when I was pregnant I had an 8 week scan and it showed I had ovulated from my right ovary. I was intrigued by that as I only ever feel ov pain on my left side!

So sorry to hear of your loss @SweetpeaOrMarigold how many weeks were you?

Girls I think I have thrush!!! 🙄 ffs right when I should be ovulating. I haven’t had it for years so it’s just bloody typical that I get it now. Right when I’m actively TTC 😤 Does anyone know if it can affect conception? I’m assuming it probably makes it more difficult for the sperm so I’m just going to assume I’m out this month 😔. We dtd this morning but probably not going to anymore in case it is thrush I don’t want to pass it to DP. Really hoping I’ve already caught/the sperm are inside waiting for the egg! 🐣 on CD19 so will say I’m probably now in the TWW!

OP posts:
Michette · 13/01/2020 11:30

@MilsCookie interesting yes!!
I think only my right works because it’s also much bigger but then again i havent ovulated many times in my life!!!
And i guess when i was on Copper iud i never felt it...
But curious now about what you said. You always have the pain on one side but yet the corpus lutheum was on the other !!!

November on first cycke TTC i had a start of BV right at ovulation - i think because of much BDing and keeping it in Confused
And i blame the MC on this. I know for a fact i implanted late and i am sure it was because of the bloody BV. My CM was nonexistent and if there was a bit it was wrong consistency and wrong smell.
But didn’t want to risk antibiotics m...

Don’t know about thrush though... could u use a bit of cream?
Would it affect sperm?

But if you are already on cd19 i am sure you are good!!!

Anny27 · 13/01/2020 11:35

@MilsCookie omg how annoying!!! Were you on antibiotics after your miscarriage? I was and it made me have thrush for first time, was bloody awful!!!! I am not sure if it affects conception but best not to DTD as you dont want DP to get it and pass it back to you:(

@StephyRose yep it was a very busy month. DH is glad we dknt have to DTD tonight 🤣 when is your AF due?

FireflyGirl · 13/01/2020 11:39

Mils it's probably just your body reacting to more frequent DTD. Hopefully it settles down quickly.

Afaik it doesn't affect conception, other than the obvious effect of reducing DTD! Fingers crossed for you!

Congratulations @MrsB16 on your BFP. Hopefully, the first of many on this thread!

Cruiser1 · 13/01/2020 11:44

@Sparkl I got the prescription from a private gynaecologist.
As we can’t figure out what is going wrong it seems to be an easy thing to try

Have any of you tried progesterone and/or low dose aspirin before??

Those of you with recurrent miscarriage, have you found any answers as to what is going wrong?

toomanyleggings · 13/01/2020 11:52

@Cruiser1 yes before I had my dc 5 years ago I had three losses between 4 and 5 weeks back to back. I decided to take baby aspirin from ovulation and got my bfp which was a successful pregnancy. Told my dr and he said carry on. This time I didn't take it, and I went much longer but I still lost the baby. I'm going to take it from ovulation if I can possibly work out when it is next time.

Cruiser1 · 13/01/2020 11:53

It can run quite expensive to get bloods done to try to find an answer as to why recurring miscarriage is happening.

Iv had basics done and nothing is showing up.

I hear of some women have a full panel of bloods done known as ‘Chicago bloods’ (as they are sent to a lab in Chicago. But they cost over $1000 as far as I know.

I just think if I can skip to the treatment and see if that helps me hold on to a pregnancy then that might be a better solution.
Especially since taking progesterone and/or low dose Aspirin appear to bear little risk.

It seems sadistic but my maternity hospital have told me that they need to do some tests when I am pregnant so I need to potentially go through another miscarriage I’m order to figure out what’s going wrong 😫

I hope I’m making sense 😞
