TTC after miscarriage - January 2020

Hello all (and late Merry Christmas!)

Looking for TTC buddies in a similar situation! 👋

In September I accidentally became pregnant. We had planned to begin TTC in Jan 2020 anyway, so we were really excited. Sadly, at my 12 week scan on 25th Nov, I found out I had had a missed miscarriage and the baby had stopped growing at about 9 weeks. The week that followed was one of the most traumatic in my life, having failed medical management and then an ERPC. All this happened whilst I was in another country.

Since then my recovery has been okay but all I can think about is wanting to be pregnant again and have been hoping and praying that my period returns soon so that we can officially start trying.

This morning I have had brown discharge and cramping, so it does feel like AF is on the way. So I guess I am going to count today as CD1 of my first official TTC cycle?

I wondered if anyone had been through anything similar and if so I am so sorry for your loss and what you had to go through. It really is a horrendous time. 💐

Anyone want to join me? 💕

@toomanyleggings
Oh new lingerie is a good idea - make ourselves feel good and to tempt the hubby!!
What does the aspirin do? Haven't heard of taking that when TTC.

I had blood tests while I was in hospital so just waiting for those results. I have an 18month old who we conceived with no problems at all so they are hoping results will come back normal and it's just 'bad luck'. I am now under a consultant though so fingers crossed when we do fall again I can go straight to him to be monitored from an early stage.

Are you having investigations?

Vio112 · 10/01/2020 15:11

Hi everyone, please can I tentatively join? I had a MC at 7 weeks early in November. It took me 2 months to get my first BFN yesterday and still haven't had my af. My OH has been really emotionally effected (as have I of course) and doesn't want to try again straight away but we're not preventing either. Feeling positive for this year. Really hope everyone else has good news soon 🙏 x

mlax · 10/01/2020 15:30

Thanks for that @Michette I'll keep that saved in my safari 😜 I thought I'd googled everything too but this definitely helps ... it'll keep us all on our toes to stop anyone (especially me) from testing early 🙈🙈

GoldenBauble · 10/01/2020 15:50

@toomanyleggings ah that would make sense then.

In re to ashermans, I'm surprised this has been mentioned. I've done a lot of reading around ashermans as I got quite worried about scarring following the surgery. Ashermans is usually diagnosed after an ERPC (more commonly after numerous procedures but can happen after only one) and the symptoms are usually disappearance of AF or very light periods as the scarring prevents blood from leaving. It can also be linked to c-sections and some infections but that's much less common.

For those querying aspirin, this is just from my knowledge but i was advised not to take it before 6 weeks as they needed to confirm it was a viable pregnancy otherwise it can cause complications, particularly if you have an ectopic pregnancy. I think there's also some info about aspirin possibly preventing implantation as your blood/lining needs to be reasonably sticky to hang on to the embryo. I don't know for definite though this was just the advice I had from the consultant when I found out I was pregnant (due to me having a minor blood clotting disorder)

Emilyr94 · 10/01/2020 16:07

Hi all,
I am in a similar position, I sadly has a MMC found out at my 12 week scan should of been 12+6 babies heart had stopped at exactly 12 weeks, this happened at the beginning of June last year, I tried 3 rounds of the Medically Managed Miscarriage but I couldn’t pass the baby so after 40 hours of trying to pass the baby I opted for the surgical!

I’ve been letting me body regulate again as for the first few months my period was either a no show or early or late, all over the place basically.. since October (3 periods now) have all been spot on, bang on time every 34 days! So we have been TTC again, during October and November’s cycle I have been using clear blue to track my ovulation and had positive tests both months (super happy about as I was convinced I wasn’t ovulating) I’m now due my period in 5 times but really have that ‘feeling’ that I’m not pregnant, I feel so sick at the thought of going another month getting the dreaded negative tests😢, we was doing the deed every night from the second I got my first positive ovulation test, we continued every night for a week which was fun haha!

So I guess I’m just bear for a bit of support and advice and to follow everyone’s stories

Good luck to you all!

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 16:14

@GoldenBauble maybe they're just being more cautious over the ashermans. They seem to have been very thorough with me with giving the heparin injections.
I took aspirin straight away with my dc. They were just beginning the investigations so when I went to the consultant appointment I was already pregnant and I told him I was taking it. He said carry on so I took it throughout the pregnancy. I don't know if it was that that made the difference or not. That was five years ago. I thought maybe my body would know better what to do this time around and the aspirin was probably just a coincidence so didn't take it but perhaps I should have

GoldenBauble · 10/01/2020 16:29

@toomanyleggings definitely not a bad thing they are being over cautious! I would be feeling reassured as it sounds like they are covering all bases which is positive.

I think for some people it is recommended they take aspirin from prior to conception, especially if you're being monitored. I guess if it worked before then I'd definitely be wanting to take it again!

I've been reading back through some of the old posts (on a very looong car journey right now 😂) and it's made me laugh reading everyone's tricks and tips for TTC. I can resonate with so many of them! Hips definitely elevated after seemed to do the trick for us. I will definitely be replicating what we did as we caught pretty quick last time so I'm hoping the same 'techniques' work again this time round 😂

DisneyMummySince2010 · 10/01/2020 18:45

I’m trying desperately not to get excited but I’m around 9dpo and my boobs are so sore! It’s felt like I’ve had bricks in bra today at work. I also keep getting queasy moments and I’ve been so tired was in bed by 8pm last night!!! Trying to hold out to test!! When would everybody else wait until to test?
I don’t want to be disappointed if AF arrives but I have a really good feeling 🤞🥰

Anny27 · 10/01/2020 18:50

@Michette yeah 10dpo would still be early but I know some women get their bfps then! I got my bfp at 12dpo but I didnt test before that so I dont know if it would have been positive before that. P.s thanks for the link - will hopefully keep me sane haha

@disneymummysince2010 that's really exciting that your boobs feel sore! I will probably try not to test jntill AF is due but I may be tempted around 12dpo!

@StephyRose inhad implantation pains/cramps around 6dpo when I was pregnant and it was like a dull period pain.

Yep everyone has their tips and tricks @GoldenBauble 🤣🤣🤣

ELM7 · 10/01/2020 19:06

Have been doing my OPK this week for the first time (just used Flo app when I conceived last time) and it’s exciting seeing the line get darker each time!

Guess what me and OH will be doing tonight 😂 and trying out some of the tips and tricks!! 🤣

Sparkl · 10/01/2020 19:20

@StephyRose I wish I had been better recording symptoms! Have to start doing it. Only thing I had recorded was ‘sore nipples’ instead of ‘tender breasts’ last time when I got the bfp 🙈 oh the joys. No idea what the difference is tbh.

Michette · 10/01/2020 23:00

@disn

Michette · 10/01/2020 23:01

@DisneyMummySince2010 that’s promising!!!

I want to try 10 dpo but we agreed with DP to wait to 12 at least but i ordered 4 FRER lol

StephyRose · 11/01/2020 08:48

Hi lovelies and welcome to all newbies 🌈💗💙 Happy Weekend!

Thank you for the link @Michette. According to that I could have implanted yesterday on 7DPO and I looked at ANOTHER website that says it tends to happen 7-10 days after ovulation ... I'm using my 1st day of peak fertility as ovulation day. Not sure if that right or wrong.

But now I'm thinking ... nah. I cant be. Who is lucky enough to concieve 1st time both cycles? But will test next Thursday I think rather than wait for AF as I will just want to be put out of my misery.

But then my heart says weird lower pains a bit like period ... a dull back ache that I never normally have ... all for 24 hours ... 7 days before AF due? My head is gone 🤣

@Sparkl Haha no worries lovely. You can always do it next cycle. 🤣💗❤

@Anny27 this is what I am clinging too 🤞 but trying not to get my hopes up. How are you getting on with BDing? ❤

Michette · 11/01/2020 09:28

@stephyrose i have to say your symptoms sound pretty good to me so far just like @DisneyMummySince2010.

I am thinking the same regarding beibg lucky enough to conceive first time both cycle but who knows!!!
I also stopped the pill to conceive for first time in november and was pregnant two weeks later and now hoping a same little miracle two weeks after MC

That’s all i wish for both!!

MilsCookie · 11/01/2020 09:31

@DisneyMummySince2010 that’s so exciting! When are you going to test?

@StephyRose same for you!! You might just be one of the lucky ones! 😃

Because my first pregnancy wasn’t planned I was actually expecting AF, but my main symptom that made me think something was weird was that my boobs DIDN’T hurt at all! (Until I was about CD40) My boobs always hurt for about 7-10 days before my period comes, and they just didn’t hurt in the slightest. I actually wrote a post about it on here and then on CD37 got my BFP!! The other most obvious symptom was the weird metallic taste down the sides of my tongue (from around CD33). I didn’t get any implantation bleeding or pain.

I’m on CD17 today and still no obvious signs of ovulation although it’s not late yet. No idea what’s going on with my body but just making sure we dtd every other night!

I’m SO excited for all you ladies now in the TWW! Good luck to everyone!! I wonder who’s going to get the first BFP?! 🌈 💫👣🎇

@MilsCookie I have a few cheapies from amazon so may start testing Thursday! Will see how my symptoms go! It’s my 30th birthday at the end of the month, would be lovely to celebrate knowing I’m pregnant 🥰

mlax · 11/01/2020 11:17

Morning lovelies! I woke up around 8am this morning feeling quite sick but wasn't sick. It's passed now it lasted about 5 minutes or so.

Also starting with sharp pains in my abdomen and back pains - are these symptoms?? I feel like I'm looking out for everything and hoping for it to be it but don't want to get my hopes up 😩 I'm not due my AF until Thursday but will be my 2nd AF since my MC so not sure if it will come on time or not.

Pre-MC I was bang on 28 days so hopefully my cycles have resumed!

DisneyMummySince2010 · 11/01/2020 11:34

Very exciting @mlax why not get a FRER? I find it sooooo hard to wait!

mlax · 11/01/2020 11:54

@DisneyMummySince2010 well I did one yesterday using the clear blue early PT and it was negative... but when I used the link that @Michette put in this thread, a positive wouldn't show until at least the 15th jan!

MilsCookie · 11/01/2020 12:21

@Michette yes I forgot to thank you for that link - will be very useful us all I’m sure!

I am getting dull stabbing pains in my left ovary this morning. It’s something I always get around ovulation time. Does anyone else get this and know if the pains happen WHEN the egg pops out or if it’s prior to ovulation? I’m hoping it means I’m about to ovulate! 🤞

MilsCookie · 11/01/2020 12:23

Oops posted too soon sorry!

@mlax that all sounds promising!! Can’t wait to hear about your progress! Keep us updated 😘 Sending you ALL the luck and baby dust and really hoping it’s a BFP for you!!! ❤️✨👣🎇

DisneyMummySince2010 · 11/01/2020 14:35

sorry @mlax fingers crossed for your BFP on Jan 15th then!
I’ve just had a little go of the countdown to pregnancy link too, it counted my dpo from jan 4th even though my peak was jan 2nd so apparently I’m only 8dpo! Says to test from Jan 18th so may try to hang on. This link might be helpful trying to work out how many dpo they are xx

Michette · 11/01/2020 16:28

Bad mood is kicking in... The TWW is getting to me Confused
5dpo and feels like an eternity

Anyone else feeling this way?
