TTC after miscarriage - January 2020

Hello all (and late Merry Christmas!)

Looking for TTC buddies in a similar situation! 👋

In September I accidentally became pregnant. We had planned to begin TTC in Jan 2020 anyway, so we were really excited. Sadly, at my 12 week scan on 25th Nov, I found out I had had a missed miscarriage and the baby had stopped growing at about 9 weeks. The week that followed was one of the most traumatic in my life, having failed medical management and then an ERPC. All this happened whilst I was in another country.

Since then my recovery has been okay but all I can think about is wanting to be pregnant again and have been hoping and praying that my period returns soon so that we can officially start trying.

This morning I have had brown discharge and cramping, so it does feel like AF is on the way. So I guess I am going to count today as CD1 of my first official TTC cycle?

I wondered if anyone had been through anything similar and if so I am so sorry for your loss and what you had to go through. It really is a horrendous time. 💐

Anyone want to join me? 💕

@michette I was using CB ones (they stay solid peak for 48 hours after you get peak result) and when I got peak I was kind of considering that to be start of ovulation, so 24 hours after that being 1DPO, or if I was trying to restrain myself from testing then 48 hours after that being 1DPO but I don’t know if that’s right and had been wondering the same thing myself.

@Bath2020 did you get anywhere with an appointment? Hope you are doing ok.

Sparkl · 10/01/2020 11:00

Sorry that probably doesn’t make sense at all.
So if I got peak OPK on Saturday morning then worst case Monday would be 1DPO.

Anny27 · 10/01/2020 12:16

I am finally ovulating haha! (Got my LH surge positive today) - didnt dtd yesterday so will do tonight and then hopefully manage to catch it!!

@MilsCookie ovulated yet?

mlax · 10/01/2020 12:34

@AlviesMam oh my I didn't realise the percentage was so low!!!! The amount that comes out to that percentage too! 😱😱

MilsCookie · 10/01/2020 12:53

@Anny27 yay that’s so exciting! Nope I don’t think I have yet...still no obvious signs. Just gonna keep dtd every day or at least every other day and hope for the best! If it doesn’t catch this month then I’ll look into getting OPKs next month 😊 I’m literally so excited for you to be in your TWW!

Hope everyone is doing okay - sorry this is a quick post! Xx 😘

@anny27 awesome!!! Enjoy Smile
We ll be a few days apart in TWW

According to @Sparkl i should be at 5 dpo (for the impatient self) or 4dpo (more realistically!)

Cannot wait for some bfp in this group Grin

I ordered FRERs and they will only come on 15/01 so no temptation of testing too early

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 13:13

Sorry I can't chase this back as this thread is so long but when did you guys ovulate after miscarriage? I'm only 7 days from
My erpc and still strong lines on pregnancy tests but I'm ridiculously impatient. I've ordered some clear blue digital tests as these worked first try for me but I don't think there's any point using them is there?

Mammacooks · 10/01/2020 13:23

@toomanyleggings
Sorry to hear you’ve been through this too. Hope you’re doing okay and looking after yourself it’s so tough isn’t it.
If you wait to get a negative on a pregnancy test you can test (if you are still getting a positive on a pregnancy test the same hormone will interferes with the OPKs giving you potentially a false positive), saying that I had a negative on a pregnancy test and then the OPKs were a bit up and down and gave me two surges... I got my period 31 days after my ERPC so I assume I must have ovulated somewhere around two weeks after my ERPC. The doctor told me to expect my period 4-6weeks after the ERPC so I suppose if you want to start TTC again perhaps the best method is to just start DTD regularly when you are ready. Fingers crossed x

SwimMum91 · 10/01/2020 13:39

Hi please may I join.

I've just received the news of my third miscarriage. The first 2 happened naturally but this one I had an ERPC on Wednesday. I just can't help but feel like a failure.

Just wondered how you lot felt the few days following an ERPC?

thanks x

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 13:43

@Mammacooks thanks. Can't do much yet as still bleeding. I'm a bit worried about trying to conceive again because dh likes to instigate things and if he thinks there's too much of an agenda I don't think he'll be keen. I think this whole thing has put him off massively. When we were in the hospital waiting to be taken to theatre he said 'well I'm off sex for life after this' Confused

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 13:44

Hi @SwimMum91 how many weeks were you when you had the erpc? I had one last Thursday. I've been ok just up and down emotionally really

Anny27 · 10/01/2020 13:45

@SwimMum91 sorry to hear of your third loss :( had an ERPC in November, physicalyy I felt quite weak for a few days (might be caused by the blood loss as the erpc was after 4 days of medical miscarriage) and was a little bit sore. Emotionally I was a mess for a week! Look after yourself 💗

@MilsCookie hopefully not too long for you then :) if my peak if today it will either be tonight or tomorrow that I actually ovulate!

@Michette ahh exciting, yep we wont be too far off! How are you feeling- any symptoms?

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 13:49

@Anny27 did they make you have heparin injections after your erpc? I've been put on a ten day course and I can't figure out why, wondering if it's my bmi which is 26 so only just on the over weight side

Anny27 · 10/01/2020 13:54

@toomanyleggings no - I had an injection in my tummy the night I stayed in hospital after the erpc (for dvt) but other than the one I didnt have anymore! That's interesting, is it common practice?

StephyRose · 10/01/2020 14:05

Hi ladies, happy Friday! 🎉💗

Trying not to get my hopes up too much but I was awoken at 2am this morning with dull, abdominal pains until I woke up. Got myself to think it could be implantation pains. Most websites say they happen 10 to 14 days after conception but another website said they happen between CD20 to CD22 ... I am CD21 ...

I have had them all day on and off, although not as severe as last night.

I've also had lots of milky white CM that I dont remember having at this point in my cycle. AF isn't due until next Fri/Sat.

Trying not to drive myself crazy. 🙈🙈

The good thing is even I am not PG I have written all my symptoms down in the my APP so at least i can notice similar ones next month and not be tricked by them! 🤣🤣

Hate the TWW.

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 14:08

@Anny27 yes they did the same to me but gave me 9 more injections to go home with. I'm black and blue and dread doing them every night. I just haven't heard of anyone else having them so it's freaking me out a bit

GoldenBauble · 10/01/2020 14:23

@toomanyleggings I haven't heard of anyone being given heparin injections either. I have a blood clotting disorder and I wasn't given them after my surgery, I was told it was low risk for blood clotting because you don't need to be on bed rest for any length of time. Maybe give your epu a ring and ask them, there might be a reason?

For the other posters who were asking about recovery post ERPC - I found the physical recovery to be quite quick. I didn't have any pain or cramps but I did bleed for 3 weeks (it was a bit intermittent and would stop and then start up again) and I also didn't get a negative pregnancy test before my period arrived 4.5 weeks post surgery. Hope that helps a little.

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 14:26

@GoldenBauble is your bmi in the healthy range ? I'm just wondering if that's the reason because mines 26. They did say something about testing me for ashermans syndrome so not sure if it's something to do with that

SwimMum91 · 10/01/2020 14:30

Hi @toomanyleggings
I went for a early 8 week scan due to my history and scan showed 5 weeks. I knew I was 3 weeks out with my dates but they made me wait a week to confirm unsuccessful pregnancy. They booked me in for the operation the following day as I was having all the symptoms like morning sickness so just wanted to be able to start fresh.

My bleeding is very light though - has been since the op - which I'm taking as a good sign that they got everything out.

Xx

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 14:32

@SwimMum91 bless you. I wanted it over with ASAP too. I hated all the waiting x

SwimMum91 · 10/01/2020 14:35

@toomanyleggings
Are you hoping to try again soon or will you leave it a few months?

@GoldenBauble thank you for sharing your experience. I have the same physically (no pains) but just feel down that is keeps happening.

I'm 28 and have a very healthy lifestyle so was naive to think I wouldn't be in the miscarriage statistic 3 times.

Hope you're recovering well 😊

GoldenBauble · 10/01/2020 14:36

@toomanyleggings yes my bmi is within the healthy range. Maybe your hospital prescribe it as a precaution? I know some seem to prescribe antibiotics as a precaution following the surgery to prevent infection but mine didn't. That's interesting you're being investigated for ashermans, have you had an ERPC before? As that's normally linked to repeat procedures as it can cause scarring. I can't see that would have any influence on heparin being prescribed (but I'm not medical at all, just have many hours of google research behind me 😏😂)

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 14:42

@SwimMum91 I hope so. Dh is less keen but I've been out today and bought myself more pregnacare and low dose aspirin. Also ordered a load of new lingerie so I'm taking matters into my own hands lol.
I'm sorry you've been through this three times. I had three early losses before my dc and now this one. Are you going to have some investigations done?

Michette · 10/01/2020 14:43

@stephyrose sounds good all those symptoms! When are you testing.?? (Sorry if i asked already getting lost with this thread)

@Anny27 nope just extra tired and slept without hearing alarm this morning which never happened in my life !!!
That’s about it.
My breasts have been huge since pregnancy from november and stayed like this so hard to tell...

I want to do a FRER next thursday 16/01 with FMU- i will be 10 dpo.
Reasonable or not?

Had BFN at 09 dpo in november but i want to know so badlyyy

toomanyleggings · 10/01/2020 14:46

@GoldenBauble I've just called the hospital. Needed to anyway as I've broken one of the syringes. They said it's a new precaution only brought in in the last three weeks for anyone having a gynae procedure.
I've only had one erpc. My other losses were early like 5 weeks. Dr mentioned the ashermans when I said my only successful pregnancy was when I took the aspirin.
