Dec/Jan Bus - Testing New Year

Hi ladiessss.

I thought about having some time away from MN but you get so much support here (and I need it at the moment!) so I thought I'd start a new thread for all those who are due to test end December/NY time.

Short LP (boo)
Chemical in October
AF due 30th December

So I had my implant out a few months ago, since then my cycles have been VERY short but regular (23-24 days). My luteal phase is very short 8-9 days which I think is what causing me issues. I conceived very quickly 3 years ago with typical 28-29 day cycles and I didn't track a thing (only CM). Last month got my positive OPK CD14. I'm not sure if I am going to track ovulation this month...

AF due 30th based on a 25 day cycle

Hi all, how are you all? Static smilie for me today using clear blue advanced. You can guess what I’ll be doing the next few days.
@Talcott2007 mine said the 23rd too! I agree that we will be so busy over the 2WW hopefully it’ll go quickly. I’ll be on my honeymoon so will try not to think about it too much.

Still a solid circle for me. I know your never out till AF arrives but I just have an inkling I won’t ovulate this month. Just a 6th sense haha

@MrsERH have you tried testing a later on in the day? I tested this morning and had a flashing smilie but felt that wasn’t accurate. I then tested again this evening and i got the static smilie

@MrsERH what cycle day are you and how’s the cervical mucus looking? Admittedly I’ve never used ovulation tests but from what I’ve read it can be easy to miss the surge because of not testing at exactly the right time. It might be that it’s just not showing when you test. I think mucus is generally a good indicator too so don’t give up hope.
@Talcott2007 I’ve been throwing myself into Christmas preparations to avoid thinking about ttc. It’s not working very well but at least I have most of the food shopping done and the presents all wrapped. It’s school holidays now so my dds will hopefully distract me from crazy symptom spotting.

@Sophj19 @LockThatFridge CM still pretty dry to be fair. Due to ovulate tomorrow but we’ll see. Might just be a longer cycle!

@MrsERH hopefully it will just be later then. All ovulation calculators say that I will be ovulating today or tomorrow. I am absolutely certain that it was last Friday.

@LockThatFridge - bodies are so weird aren’t they! Hope you managed to DTD around then. Honestly my plan for every other day has gone out the window as we’re both so shattered. Maybe this afternoon haha

@MrsERH I managed on Wednesday. I was far too tired for any more. Dd2 doesn’t sleep well at the best of times and has decided that she needs cuddles at least twice a night at the moment. Not quite sure why I’m so desperate for another sleep thief.....

@LockThatFridge - I imagine it’s a nightmare when you’ve already got little people needing attention! Can’t even find the time and only have to sort myself out haha.
Hopefully once work has finished for Christmas I won’t have missed this months window!

Hi. AF is due on the 29th DEC, but as we're having our Christmas gathering on the 28th I'll probably test on the 27th so I don't spend the 28th obsessing. That'll be 9dpo for me, so if it's a clear negative I'll wait until sometime between the 1st and 5th Jan to test again if AF hasn't already tagged me out of the game.

Am also temping, so that might give me a clue if I'm out or still in the running.

What are you all doing about drinking over Christmas? I'm not a big drinker and only really drink alcohol a few times a year. We're going round to the neighbour's house on Christmas Eve. I'm thinking a couple will be ok?

I don't really drink so no problem there. As long as it's a one off I shouldn't think it would be an issue. If you abstain or swap for something non alcoholic that would be better, but one or two drinks one time in a pregnancy should be fine.

Apparently if you drink that early in the pregnancy it really doesn’t make much difference as the placenta isn’t properly formed. Just do whatever you feel comfortable with I think.

I was going to say the same as @MrsERH. I plan to have a couple of glasses of wine on Christmas Day. MIL is staying so I’ll need it AF isn’t due until the 4th but I might test before new year just in case. I’m not holding out much hope though. I won’t have more than a couple of drinks anyway.

Morning all- how is everyone doing?I had a solid smiley on Friday night and sat morning and my temp went up slightly from 36.06 to 36.2 yesterday but then down again to 36.17 this morning. So no idea if I have ovulated or not. I don't think I've had any ovulation pains so who knows! I suppose into the tww for me but not that confident to be honest. Thank god it's Christmas now!

Morning! I think i ovulated yesterday, cervix was quite low etc. Although my DH has man-flu and he didn’t “feel like it”🙄😂 so I guess I’m in the TWW im. It hopeful. I’m going to have a glass of sometime Christmas Day -I’m not a big drinker though and it doesn’t agree with me.

@Flossie333 - I'm good thanks. Just have to try and be positive about everything. Still a solid circle (not even a flashing smiley!) for me today and I'm due to ovulate today. CM still pretty dry and no pain in boobs which I think is a normal sign for me.

Just enjoying DTD and trying not to put too much pressure on. If nothing happens by March I think I'll go to the doctor then to see if I actually am ovulating

@Sophj19 - fingers crossed it is a BFP at the end of the TWW. Will you wait till AF is due or test early?

@MrsERH we’re on our honeymoon from Boxing Day until the 1st of Jan but I think I may take a few tests with me. I hate the waiting 😩

@Sophj19 oh wow congratulations. Did you get married recently? We got married in March and did our honeymoon in October. Was really nice to spread it out

@MrsERH sounds like a good plan. Did you say before that sometimes you ovulate late? Could be one of those times. It's nice it's Christmas now which will hopefully distract us slightly 😊. I have absolutely no idea if I've ovulated, and don't seem to get the usual signs (ovulation pain, EWCM etc) but let's see.

@Sophj19 congrats on your wedding! How lovely about your honeymoon. I am sure you will feel relaxed which will be good! Xxxxxx

@Flossie333 no not really but I guess there is a first time for everything!

@Flossie333 I don’t think everyone gets the signs. I certainly didn’t get obvious EWCM until after dd1. I didn’t get ovulation pains until after dd2. Both are very clear now and I wonder if the ovulation pains are more obvious because of scar tissue after two c sections. Or maybe it’s because I’m old. Certainly I think my hormone balance has changed leading to more mucus.
@MrsERH fingers crossed it’s just a bit delayed because of the run up to Christmas. Tiny things can affect it.

@MrsERH Hope you are week- I think it could have happened late- that has definitely happened to me a couple of times, a randomly long cycle out of nowhere. Bodies are SO annoying!! I am not feeling positive tbh and have enjoyed a few glasses of wine which has been lovely.

@LockThatFridge ooo interesting- thank you! Fills me with a little hope about my cycle. I just haven't seen any CM that resembles EW at all. I can definitely see changes in mine throughout my cycle, but when I am supposedly ovulating it just seems more watery. Sorry TMI! Xxx
